Chrissy Teigen, Relatable Human, Also Stares at Her Pore Strips

There’s something poetic about pulling dirt out of your face with a sticky rectangle for all the world to see. Chrissy Teigen, patron saint of social media candor, put that indescribable feeling on display for her millions of followers on Wednesday morning, when she indulged in a very popular (and very inexpensive) beauty routine: using Bioré Pore Strips on her nose and chin.

In a series of selfie videos on her Instagram Story, Teigen narrated her own pore-strip ritual as such: “I like to pull these off, slowly, and then tilt them towards the light so I can see each little mountain, each tiny mountain. And then I like to take my finger and brush the blackheads to the side so I can see their length.” She also has a process for after she rips them off—because don’t we all? “I take the strip and I fold it into quarters,” said Teigen, before realizing how creepy her meticulous documentation may have come off. “That concludes my story, entitled, ‘If Hannibal Lecter Loved Bioré Nose Strips.’ Thank you,” she quipped.

Yep, super relatable.

Cardi B, Relatable Fashion Icon, Wore a $20 Target Dress, And You Can Still Shop It Online

Cardi B may like those Balenciagas, the ones that look like socks, but she, too, enjoys a good bargain. Her deal is our gain, because the rapper found the perfect summer dress at Target—and you can still buy the exact style online.

On Sunday, Cardi celebrated the release of her latest collaboration—”Who Wants the Smoke,” with Lil’ Yachty and Offset—by posting a video of herself rapping along to the lyrics on social media. In case you missed it, here’s the clip.

In it, she’s wearing an on-trend, smocked-top, off-the-shoulder floral maxi dress. And inquiring minds—specifically, fans on Twitter—wanted to know: Where did she get it?

Ask and ye shall receive, because benevolent queen Cardi responded: “Target.”

And this is no ordinary Target find—the floor-length style, by Xhilaration, is actually a clearance item. It’s currently selling for—get this—$20.98 on Target’s website. It comes in two colors, and is still available in sizes XS through XXL.

Fans were feeling—and relating to—Cardi’s purchase.

Time and time again, Cardi B has proven that just because she makes “money move” doesn’t mean she needs to blow big bucks on her wardrobe. (She described this to Apple Music Beats 1 as what she believed to be the secret for “how rich people like me stay rich.”) Plus, she’s one of the biggest spokespeople for fast-fashion retailer FashionNova, with whom she collaborated on a capsule collection set to debut later this year.

Hey, she could buy designer—but this Target maxi fit. If you, too, would like the $21 style, you can shop Cardi’s find on Target.com.

Meghan Markle Had a Very Relatable Flub With the Queen on Their Trip Today

Meghan Markle had her first solo engagement with Queen Elizabeth today, and things seemed to go off without a hitch. The pair palled around Cheshire, England, posing for photos, visiting school children, and attending bridge openings—you know, standard royal fare.

One snafu did happen on Markle and the queen’s trip, though—well, if you can even call it that. The Daily Mail dubbed this incident Markle’s “first royal faux pas,” but honestly, it was just a somewhat awkward moment that could’ve happened to anyone. Queen Elizabeth probably isn’t sweating it—and, hopefully, Markle isn’t either.

Here’s what happened: After the royal train dropped Markle and the queen off in Cheshire, they walked toward an awaiting car. It appears Markle was told to enter the car before the queen. However, the queen didn’t know this, so she started going into the car. That’s when Markle stopped and asked the monarch, “What’s your preference?” Because the queen prefers sitting behind the driver, she hung back and let Markle go in before her. Shortly after, the queen settled into her preferred seat.

Watch the exchange go down for yourself in the video, below:

“This is just a case of habit not protocol (protocol actually says the most important person sits diagonally behind the driver) but the queen has always preferred being directly behind whoever is driving her,” a royal etiquette expert told Daily Mail Online.

Markle’s situation here is extremely relatable. She just married Prince Harry a month ago, after all, and is still figuring all this “royal protocol” business out. I’d 10/10 do the same thing here if I were her—most of us would. It’s possible the royal family didn’t brief Markle on the queen’s seat preference, which is why this happened. Regardless, it was seamlessly fixed and Markle and the queen went off to enjoy their day together. In-laws!

Chrissy Teigen's Reaction to Her Post-Pregnancy Stretch Marks Is So Relatable

If you’ve ever had any questions about the realities of pregnancy or motherhood, check out Chrissy Teigen’s social media feeds—chances are, you’ll find the answer, which she’ll somehow turn into something hilarious, no matter what it is. The topic she’s tackling this week? Stretch marks.

Teigen, who gave birth to her second child with John Legend, Miles, earlier this month, took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday night to show off one of the lasting side effects from her pregnancy. “No! I thought I did such a good job with my creams! My hips!” she cried in the background of the video, which panned across a series of stretch marks on her hips.

Teigen has been open about her “stretchies” in the past, once posting a photo of her inner thighs with the decidedly awesome caption, “Whatevs.” Obviously, her opinion on skin dimples still stands, which is that they are NBD and fully worthy of sharing with 1.7 million followers.

Per usual, the model hasn’t held back (like, at all) about the realities of motherhood the second time around. Though baby Miles left his mama with a few extra post-pregnancy marks, he’s at least been kind to his mama’s body in another way. In a kind-of-explicit-but-totally-real tweet shortly after Miles’s birth, she wrote, “I can confirm postpartum life is 90% better when you don’t rip to your butthole. Baby boy: 1 point. Luna: 0.” She then posted a photo of herself wearing hospital-issued, high-rise mesh underwear.

And when actor Taye Diggs recently commented on an adorable photo of baby Miles and Luna that he “wanted one,” Chrissy immediately warned him against it. “TAYE DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE INSTAPHOTOS THERE’S SO MUCH MORE TO IT,” she wrote, fully dispelling any myth that being a mom is as easy as it looks on Instagram. Oh, Chrissy. Never stop keeping it real, so that the rest of us know exactly what we’re getting into.

Forget the Messy Bun—Meghan Markle's Family Drama Is What Makes Her So Relatable

As soon as the world heard that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were engaged, we instantly marveled at her non-royal relatability. It’s understandable why: The idea that a Suits actress and former Deal or No Deal suitcase model could end up a princess gave us all a bit of regular-girl hope. Her messy bun? Same! Her starter marriage? Modern! Friends even call her “a princess for the people.” (OK, that friend is Priyanka Chopra but still.) For her wedding to Prince Harry—taking place this Saturday, May 19—Meghan’s not even having a maid of honor because she has such a tight group of gal pals that she said she can’t choose just one.

But of all the things that make Meghan relatable, it’s her family drama that takes the multi-tiered, lemon-elderflower cake. This past week alone, Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, has admitted to taking elaborately-staged paparazzi photos for money, backed out of the wedding, changed his mind after getting texts from Meghan, and then told TMZ that heart surgery will ultimately keep him from walking her down the aisle. (You still with me? No? Here’s a full explainer.)

It doesn’t end there: Two weeks ago, Meghan’s half-brother wrote an open letter to InTouch claiming her dad was never invited to their big day. (Neither of her half-siblings is invited.) On Monday, several uninvited family members were spotted arriving at Heathrow Airport.

Weddings are emotionally-charged events. Sometimes, all those emotions make people do weird shit.

It’s enough drama to make your head spin—but as anyone who’s ever planned a wedding or big family party knows, weddings are emotionally-charged events. Sometimes, all those emotions make people do weird shit.

Also, obviously, this isn’t just any wedding—it’s a royal wedding. An estimated 3,000 onlookers will be breathlessly watching outside Windsor Castle on Saturday. Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be a page boy and a bridesmaid, respectively. Meghan’s riding in a freaking fairytale carriage to St. George’s Chapel. There are not one, but two receptions.

Are any of us surprised that this is turning into Father of the Bride Part 3? Or British Bridesmaids? Or My Best Friend’s Wedding…To a Prince? When you see the way most family drama plays out at non-royal weddings—I know a friend whose estranged mom backed out of her wedding the day of—it’s no wonder that this estimated $34 million affair would make Megan’s non-royal family lose their minds a little bit. The higher the stakes, the more intense the drama.

Are any of us surprised that this is turning into Father of the Bride Part 3? Or British Bridesmaids?

We’re used to seeing “perfect” royal weddings, and while Kate and William’s 2011 nuptials seemed to go off without a hitch, wedding day hiccups are all part of the process. Bad weather, last-minute seating chart changes, and a little bit of “Um, what is Aunt Susie doing here? She didn’t RSVP” drama is par for the course. There’s usually at least one clueless guest wearing white. (She’ll claim it was cream.) A cousin will probably bring a date who hits the tequila, then the dance floor—hard. It all goes back to that one episode of Sex and the City when Carrie helps Charlotte clean spilled red wine off her white dress following a series of other day-of mishaps and says, “I think the worse the wedding, the better the marriage.”

The point is, weddings make people do crazy things, so we should all have a little more sympathy for dear old dad. I once went to a wedding where a father toasted the married couple by comparing them to a pair of baby birds he spotted outside his office window. No one had a clue what the hell he was talking about, but whatever, cheers! At another wedding, my aunt lit her fingertips on fire when she bragged that she could put out the flambé in her dessert with her thumb and forefinger. And at another, the sister of the groom gave such a lengthy, incoherent speech that she was eventually ushered off stage.

At least Mr. Markle hasn’t lit his fingers on fire. Yet.

Lena Dunham's Powerful Essay About Her Struggles With Rosacea Is Deeply Relatable

PHOTO: Ben Gabbe/Getty Images

This probably goes without saying, but Lena Dunham has made a welcome habit of getting real. The actress and activist is refreshingly open about everything from her political opinions and feminist philosophy to the chronic endometriosis she’s struggled with for years. And in this week’s issue of her newsletter, Lenny Letter, the Girls creator and star reveals the latest health issue that has her grappling with a familiar insecurity: uneven skin.

In a powerful essay, Dunham details how, unknowingly at the time, her complexion was keeping her self-esteem together as she struggled with endometriosis in her late 20s. But when she recently contracted rosacea, that last vestige of confidence went out the window and caused her to reconsider the worth she’d placed in her skin.

“Chronic illness—endometriosis, along with an accompanying autoimmune disease that gives me chronic joint pain and fatigue—has made my body far less predictable to me, and in far more frightening ways than whether I’ll wake up able to fit into my high-waisted jeans. And a few weeks ago, a course of steroids to treat a massive flare of joint pain and instability led to rosacea’s appearing overnight, making me look like a scary Victorian doll, two perfect pink circles painted on her porcelain face,” Dunham wrote. “Then, after a long, sweaty night shoot in which I was covered in strange makeup, I washed my face to reveal that the rosacea had become hundreds of tiny pimple-blisters that covered me from forehead to neck…My face burned, but not as badly as my pride.”

She continued: “I found myself [age] 31 and hysterical, in the dermatologist’s chair as she extracted infected areas, applied an antibiotic cream, and explained that rosacea is another chronic condition: once the cat’s out of the bag, there’s no guarantee she’s headed back in. The acne on my shoulders and back was also steroid induced, she explained. (I hadn’t even noticed the bacne yet. FML.)”

This sudden hit to her health wasn’t just an annoyance, she explains, rather, it made her realize how intrinsic her appearance was to her identity. Even as she’d been vocal about her love and pride for her body, it struck her that her normally clear complexion had been the one thing buoying her self-image—its loss became a catalyst for self-doubt.

“Seven years of being treated in the public eye like a punch line about female imperfection may not have felt like it was wearing me down, but it had actually forced me to rely emotionally on my one area of fully conventional beauty: my perfect f-cking skin,” she wrote. “They could tag me in a picture of a beached whale. They could call me a bag of cottage cheese. But they couldn’t take away the fact that I was able to eat seven slices of pizza, a wine spritzer, and three quarters of a chocolate cake and still look like my face was kissed by sweet, sweet angels when I woke up. I wasn’t just mourning my easy skin-care routine or my ‘No filter? No problem’ lifestyle. I was mourning a life raft that had kept me, silly as it was, bobbing above the fray.”

Dunham went on to write that she’s still coming to terms with her return to the skin of her teenage years. “I have been forced to finally mourn the long, slow hit on my self-image. I thought my adolescent attitude, the take-no-prisoners approach to my own look and form, could carry me through the onslaught of critical attention. I thought I could intellectualize it away. But I can’t.”

There is a silver lining to her story, though, and it’s the kind of real and honest advice you can only get from someone who’s been through the same emotionally exhausting situation. “I’m starting to believe that speaking this pain aloud isn’t just good for my own healing: it allows any young woman who might be watching to understand that nobody is immune from feeling bad about hateful attention. If it took spelling my pain across my face to admit it, then so be it. I’m oddly grateful. ‘I don’t give a shit’ only translates into isolation; it prevents the people who love you from reaching out their hand to remind you of what’s real.”

You can read the essay in full here. Trust, it’s worth the click.
