Katie Holmes Shared Unretouched Photos on Instagram Showing Off Her Stretch Marks

It’s hard to go even a day without seeing a story about Katie Holmes’s on-point street style, full of fashionable fall jackets, chic sweaters and perfectly-styled evening wear. But now the actress is making headlines for something else she’s wearing amazingly well: her stretch marks.

Earlier this week, the 40-year-old took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes pics from Vogue Australia that clearly show off the stretch marks on her stomach. Fans were quick to praise the actress for posting the unedited photos, proudly flaunting the lines that peaked out behind her blazer and black bra.

“#Bts @vogueaustralia ??? it is wonderful to be working today with such amazing women!” Holmes captioned the two pictures, in which she sports slicked-back wet hair, natural makeup and gold earrings. The pictures are by far some of the most popular in her feed, amassing almost 80,000 likes since it was shared.

Several of Holmes’s followers commented on the pics, thanking her for being real about her body on social media. “Just seeing this made me cry because it means so much to show the beauty of your natural body,” one person wrote. “I’ve always had issues showing my marks as a mother of three. Seeing this gives me strength.”

Another added: “Thank you, you’ve made me feel so much better about my stretch marks, which I am always down on myself about!!! You are truly an inspiration.”

“Stunning… untouched…awesome example for our young girls growing up having to see so many retouched photos and unnatural bodies,” another fan noted.

Many others applauded the actress for showing the honest side of pregnancy. (Holmes has a 13-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise.) “Wow such a beautiful woman you are, Katie. You’ve made a statement to all us woman out there who struggle with pregnancy stretch marks. Thank you for presenting your all-natural self,” one fan penned.

Holmes is the latest in a slew of inspirational famous women, including Ashley Graham, Chrissy Teigen and Hilary Duff, who are fighting back at beauty standards by sharing their perceived “flaws,” from cellulite to leg hair to acne, on social media. It’s much-needed proof that there’s no such thing, even in Hollywood, as the perfect body.

Ashley Graham Posted a Pic Showing Off Her Stretch Marks, and People Are Loving It

Ashley Graham is currently pregnant with her first child, as the world learned last Wednesday (August 14), when she shared the news on Instagram. “Nine years ago today, I married the love of my life,” Graham wrote with a video of her and her husband being adorable. “It has been the best journey with my favorite person in the world! Today, we are feeling so blessed, grateful and excited to celebrate with our GROWING FAMILY! Happy anniversary, @mrjustinervin ❤️ Life is about to get even better. ?”

As it tends to happen during pregnancy, Graham’s body is changing as the baby grows—and she’s clearly excited about the process: On Sunday (August 18), she posted a nude photo of herself to Instagram, showing off some stretch marks. “Same same but a little different,” she wrote in the caption.

Other celebrity friends were here for her post: “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Lily Aldridge commented. Makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes dropped in three two-heart emojis. Even Dr. Pimple Popper got in on the emoji shower: “?????????”

Fans were also excited to see Graham’s pic: “I freaking love you for this… ” one wrote. “This is me, what I look like. Fabulous empowering amazing beautiful fearless!!!”

Graham’s shown off her body-IRL to fans before on Instagram before, and she’s long been an advocate for body positivity of all kinds. “I’m using my body to let other women know that imperfections are OK. That cellulite, rolls, curves, all of it, things that jiggle that shouldn’t be jiggling, it’s OK,” she told Glamour in 2015.

Or, as she captioned another iconic pic, “I workout. I do my best to eat well. I love the skin I’m in. And I’m not ashamed of a few lumps, bumps or cellulite.. and you shouldn’t be either. #beautybeyondsize #lovetheskinyourein.”

During pregnancy or otherwise, we’re here for all of the positivity and realness Graham has to share, whenever she wants to share it.

Chrissy Teigen Just Posted a Video of Her Stretch Marks to Make an Important Point

Chrissy Teigen‘s been quite open about her body insecurities in the past, revealing just last August that she’s cried over the pressures of Instagram. Her confession made so many people battling body image issues feel less alone, and she continued this transparency last night (July 30) on social media. While hanging out at the pool with husband John Legend and her two children, Teigen shared a video of her stretch marks and simply remarked, “I guess these just aren’t ‘gonna go away. This is my body.”

To make sure her followers knew she wasn’t shaming herself, Teigen followed up her video with a few tweets. “Mom bod alert,” she wrote before continuing, “Instagram is crazy. I think it’s awesome people have killer bodies and are proud to show them off (I really do!!) but I know how hard it can be to forget what (for lack of a better word) regular ol’ bodies look like when everyone looks bonkers amazing.”

The Cravings author admits, however, she isn’t fully there when it comes to body confidence. “I’m still super insecure,” she wrote. “I’m just happy that I can make anyone else out there feel better about themselves!”

Check out Teigen’s video and tweets for yourself, below:

Of course, to make this stream of confessions on brand, Teigen peppered in a few jokes. “Mosquito bites are a nice touch,” she also captioned the video. Then, at the end, she tweeted, “OK back to being stupid!”

But fans aren’t ready to move on from Teigen’s video. Hundreds of people flocked to both Twitter and Instagram and thanked her for helping them feel more at peace with their bodies. “You have no idea how much better you just made me feel. I even showed my husband: look Chrissy has stretch marks where I do,” one woman wrote. “Thank you for assuring women everywhere that this is normal, OK and expected,” another one wrote.

Check out a few more reactions for yourself, below:

Thanks, CT, for reminding us of such an important point: that our bodies are forever changing, and that’s 100 percent OK.

Chrissy Teigen's Reaction to Her Post-Pregnancy Stretch Marks Is So Relatable

If you’ve ever had any questions about the realities of pregnancy or motherhood, check out Chrissy Teigen’s social media feeds—chances are, you’ll find the answer, which she’ll somehow turn into something hilarious, no matter what it is. The topic she’s tackling this week? Stretch marks.

Teigen, who gave birth to her second child with John Legend, Miles, earlier this month, took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday night to show off one of the lasting side effects from her pregnancy. “No! I thought I did such a good job with my creams! My hips!” she cried in the background of the video, which panned across a series of stretch marks on her hips.

Teigen has been open about her “stretchies” in the past, once posting a photo of her inner thighs with the decidedly awesome caption, “Whatevs.” Obviously, her opinion on skin dimples still stands, which is that they are NBD and fully worthy of sharing with 1.7 million followers.

Per usual, the model hasn’t held back (like, at all) about the realities of motherhood the second time around. Though baby Miles left his mama with a few extra post-pregnancy marks, he’s at least been kind to his mama’s body in another way. In a kind-of-explicit-but-totally-real tweet shortly after Miles’s birth, she wrote, “I can confirm postpartum life is 90% better when you don’t rip to your butthole. Baby boy: 1 point. Luna: 0.” She then posted a photo of herself wearing hospital-issued, high-rise mesh underwear.

And when actor Taye Diggs recently commented on an adorable photo of baby Miles and Luna that he “wanted one,” Chrissy immediately warned him against it. “TAYE DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE INSTAPHOTOS THERE’S SO MUCH MORE TO IT,” she wrote, fully dispelling any myth that being a mom is as easy as it looks on Instagram. Oh, Chrissy. Never stop keeping it real, so that the rest of us know exactly what we’re getting into.
