Selena Gomez Shares Photo From Date Night With The Weeknd

Selena Gomez isn’t letting an Instagram hack keep her from sharing cute pics. One week after all of her Insta posts were deleted and briefly replaced with nude photos of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, Gomez has (thankfully) regained full control of her account and is back to her old habit of posting sweet snaps of The Weeknd.

On Tuesday morning, the “Fetish” singer uploaded a photo of her and The Weeknd (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) lounging in a restaurant booth. In the pic, Gomez wears a black T-shirt, gold hoop earrings, and a gold watch and smiles at the camera, while her BF keeps his arm around her but stares off into the distance at what we can only assume is a waiter approaching the booth with a tray full of food. (And as Elle points out, it seems Gomez even changed her phone background to a pic from the same night.)

The post captures just one adorable moment from the multiday lovefest the duo shared in New York City over Labor Day Weekend. According to Entertainment Tonight, Gomez, 25, and Tesfaye, 27, sported coordinating all-black ensembles while walking around NYC’s SoHo neighborhood and eating at Lure Fishbar on Saturday, then were spotted leaving high-end eatery Nobu together on Monday. Also on Saturday, fans spotted the pair playing with dogs at a pet store in the city, where the pop stars climbed into the cages for maximum puppy cuddling.

Gomez and Tesfaye have been dating since early this year and went public with their romance at Coachella in April. In the September 2017 issue of InStyle, Gomez opened up about why she feels so secure in her current relationship. “I don’t depend on one area of my life to make me happy. It’s really important for me to love and nourish my friends and family and to make sure that I never get influenced by a guy,” she said. “I’ve wanted to be in a strong headspace for years, and I really wasn’t. Before, I was so young and easily influenced, and I’d feel insecure. You want someone to add to your life, not to complete you, if that makes sense. I’m lucky because he’s more of a best friend than anything else.”

A Photo of Afghan Women in Miniskirts Helped Convince Donald Trump to Send More Troops to Afghanistan

PHOTO: Mark Wilson/Getty Images

In an address to the nation on Monday night, Donald Trump announced plans to commit more troops to Afghanistan and continue the 16-year war. This decision seemed in stark contrast to Trump’s stance on the war in the years leading up to his ascent to the presidency. In 2012, he said the conflict was a “total disaster” and “wasting our money.” In 2013, he called for the U.S. military to leave Afghanistan “immediately.” And in 2015 and well into 2016—a.k.a. the duration of his presidential campaign—Trump continued to denounce the war.

But since actually taking office—and surrounding himself with plenty of retired military men—Trump has seemed to have changed his mind. And according to a report from The Washington Post, one of his closest White House officials knew exactly how to reach Trump—and get him to deploy more troops.

As the The Washington Post reported: “One of the ways [national security adviser H.R. McMaster] tried to persuade Trump to recommit to the effort was by convincing him that Afghanistan was not a hopeless place. He presented Trump with a black-and-white snapshot from 1972 of Afghan women in miniskirts walking through Kabul, to show him that Western norms had existed there before and could return.”

Considering Trump’s comments, actions, and attitudes toward women, it’s not surprising that a photograph of young women in short skirts was the best way for McMaster to convince the President that reinstating “Western norms” was worth continuing the military effort—and to completely reverse his original stance on the war in Afghanistan.

Though the exact number of troops that will be sent to join the 8,400 that are currently in Afghanistan is unclear, a report from The Hill indicates that the number will likely be between 3,000 and 5,000.

Lindsey Vonn Responds to the Nude Photo Hack That Affected Her, Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, and Others

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and her ex-boyfriend, golfer Tiger Woods, are the latest celebrities affected by a nude photo hack—along with Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Katharine McPhee, and Stella Maxwell.

TMZ reported on Monday that private photos of these stars starting popping up on a porn website, which was later identified as Celebrity Jihad, the page responsible for the nude leaks in 2014 that involved Jennifer Lawrence and Gabrielle Union. (That incident is now known, unfortunately, as “The Fappening.”) According to TMZ, Woods and McPhee had already hired legal counsel to fight against these leaks. As for Vonn, a spokesperson for the athlete released a statement to People condemning the group who published the photos.

“It is an outrageous and despicable invasion of privacy for anyone to steal and illegally publish private intimate photos,” the representative said. “[Lindsey Vonn] will take all necessary and appropriate legal action to protect and enforce her rights and interests. She believes the individuals responsible for hacking her private photos as well as the websites that encourage this detestable conduct should be prosecuted to the fullest extent under the law.”

And it looks like the hacker(s) received this message. According to the Los Angeles Times, the photos disappeared from Celebrity Jihad at around 7:30 A.M. PDT Tuesday morning (August 22).

This situation is eerily similar to what happened to Emma Watson in March and, of course, “The Fappening” from three years ago. In November 2014, Lawrence told Vanity Fair that her photo hack was a “sex crime,” and she’s absolutely right. These pictures were never intended for public consumption, which means even looking at them is wrong. Taking a quick glance at a celebrity’s nude photos is the equivalent of a creep watching you undress from your closet. It’s a private moment, and invading someone’s intimate space is never OK—even if it’s from your iPhone.
