Jenna Dewan Has a Message for Everyone Who Supported Her After Channing Tatum Split

Jenna Dewan knows just how heartbroken people were when she announced her separation from Channing Tatum earlier this month. Which is why Dewan dedicated her first Instagram post since the announcement to all of those well-wishing fans and followers, thanking them for their continued love and support throughout the difficult process.

“Thank you guys for all your love. Love you right back,” Dewan captioned Thursday night’s post. Supportive fans, of course, continued to shower the dancer and actress with love, leaving comments on the photo like “Beautiful soul, you are loved all over the world,” and “Beautiful. Praying for [your] family during this difficult time!!” among many (many) heart emojis.

Dewan and Tatum, both 37, announced that they were splitting in an equally heartfelt Instagram post that was uploaded to each of their accounts on April 2 and is still Tatum’s most recent post.

“We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now,” the couple, who tied the knot in July 2009 and share 4-year-old daughter Everly, wrote. “There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision—just two best friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving, dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan&Jenna.”

Women's Group Ultra Violet Projects Message on Trump Hotel

“DONALD TRUMP HARASSED OR ASSAULTED TWENTY WOMEN. CONGRESS: INVESTIGATE TRUMP. #SOTU”

That’s the message that women’s group Ultra Violet projected onto the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. tonight ahead of President Trump’s first State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress. UltraViolet describes itself as “a 1,000,000 strong community that leverages high profile media moments to hold decision makers accountable, create a cost for sexism, and shine a light on the people and policies that are improving all women’s lives.” And boy, did they take advantage of tonight’s high-profile moment.

“As President Trump takes the podium for his first State of the Union address to the country, he remains accused of sexual harassment or assault from more than twenty women. This is a national shame,” explained Karin Roland, Chief Campaigns Officer at UltraViolet. “It is impossible for us to tackle the nation’s sexual assault and harassment epidemic when the man who occupies our highest office is facing no accountability for the scores of sexual abuse accusations mounted against him. The pervasiveness of sexual assault and harassment across the country has never been clearer: In the year of #MeToo, survivors have stepped up and called their abusers out, sparking a new wave of urgency and accountability. Congress must investigate sexual harassment and assault allegations against Trump and hold him accountable for his crimes against women immediately.”

At least 16 women have accused the president of sexual harassment and misconduct. Trump denies that accusations and the White House has basically said that the women are lying. But in a world where #MeToo and Time’s Up are dominating the headlines, many groups will continue to call for an investigation of Trump who thus far has not faced any real consequences for the accusations, unlike other powerful men from Harvey Weinstein to Matt Lauer.

Let’s all hope he tweets a response later tonight.

Selena Gomez Shared the Sweetest Birthday Message for Taylor Swift

Today is a very special day for Taylor Swift fans. As any good member of her squad will tell you, December 13 marks the singer’s 28th birthday (hence her deep and never-ending love of the number 13).

While fans of the singer were busy tweeting up a storm wishing the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer a happy birthday, her famous friends were equally busy sharing selfies with Taylor on Instagram. First, model Karlie Kloss shared a throwback image of the with the simple message, “Happy happy birthday @taylorswift!”

Next, fellow model Lily Aldridge shared her own Taylor Swift picture on Instagram (and this one also featured Taylor’s cat, Meredith). She wrote in the caption, “We love you So So So So So Soooo MUCH!!! Happy Birthday @taylorswift!!!!!”

Yes, both of these shoutouts are nice—and Taylor surely appreciated them—but Selena Gomez wrote a heartfelt message to commemorate Taylor that has us near tears. “I’m glad you were born. You write all the thoughts some aren’t able to articulate. (ME!) Thank you for giving a voice to this world that is authentic and inspiring,” Selena wrote in an Instagram post alongside a brief, soundless video of the two giggling up a storm. “I wish some knew how big your heart actually is… it’s fierce, bold, and freaking wild with light. I’m glad you protect that. Love you @taylorswift.”

See it in full, below:

The two first met and became friends way back in 2008, when Taylor was dating Joe Jonas and Selena was dating his brother Nick. And according to Selena, their friendship was the best thing to come out of either relationship.

“We actually dated the Jonas brothers together! It was hysterical,” Gomez said in an interview with KISS FM in early December. “It was amazing because she was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked. It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”

As for one day making everyone’s dreams come true and doing a duet with her BFF, Gomez said, “anytime, any place.” She added, “She has been a fighter, a warrior, and a friend through all of this.”

There's a Powerful Hidden Message on Time's' 2017 Person of the Year Cover

You’ve probably seen this year’s cover of Time honoring their person of the year—or, as is the case for 2017, the people who earned this award. Women like Taylor Swift, Susan Fowler, Adama Iwu, Ashley Judd, and Isabel Pascual all among those who make up “The Silence Breakers,” the people who stood up to sexual predators and are now being recognized for “giving voice to open secrets, for moving whisper networks onto social networks, for pushing us all to stop accepting the unacceptable.”

But upon closer review of the cover image, you might have missed an elbow in the bottom right corner that doesn’t belong to any of the women pictured. And as Time national correspondent Charlotte Alter told BuzzFeed News on Wednesday, this was a deliberate—and meaningful—artistic choice: It represents the women who shared their stories anonymously.

“In the bottom left of the cover, there is an arm where you just see the elbow and you don’t see the person,” Alter said. “That’s very intentional. That’s an anonymous woman who is a hospital worker who was experiencing harassment and didn’t feel that she could come forward [publicly].”

As Alter explained, Time wanted to acknowledge that sexual misconduct spreads well beyond Hollywood and impacts women from all walks of life. She pointed to Isabel Pascual, a strawberry farmer who spoke out about the sexual harassment she faced in her job and noted that she shared her story under a pseudonym because she was afraid of retaliation.

“A huge part of this story is that, as much as the stigma around this has been removed this year because of the Me Too movement, it’s still really difficult for a lot of women to come forward,” Alter continued. “It’s important to include people who have to stay anonymous for professional reasons, who don’t have the resources to weather what would happen if they lost their job or they couldn’t support their families. So we wanted to include [these people] to really reference the risk that these women are taking by speaking out about this.”

Selena Gomez Puts Instagram on Private After Posting and Deleting a Message About Her 'Billboard' Profile

When you’re the most-followed person on Instagram for two years running, you can pretty much do whatever you want on the social media site—including making your account private. That’s what Selena Gomez just did, at least. The “Fetish” singer turned her Instagram account private early Tuesday morning, a few hours after she had posted and deleted a cryptic message on her Instagram Story. (If you’re one of the 130 million people who already follow her, don’t worry: You still have full access to all Selena content.)

People first noticed that the world’s most popular Insta had locked out new followers around 7 a.m. ET, when major fan account @SelenaHQ tweeted out the news. Selenators reacted with shock and worry: “So Selena Gomez made her insta private. Guys am shook and happy at the same time. Like I want someone else to take that most followed title. So they can leave my baby alone. All the slander against her is just too much,” one concerned fan tweeted. Others, however, found it funny that an account followed by hundreds of millions of people was now “private.” “Selena has half of ig following her, what’s the point of putting her account on private ?” one wrote.

Gomez flipped the switch shortly after posting and deleting a message seemingly criticizing her Billboard “Woman of the Year” profile to her Instagram Story, according to a screenshot captured by JustJared. “Never will I let another human guess my words ever again. Or invite them in my home. That is so hurtful. The most ‘ridiculous’ part of that is no one knowing my heart when I say things,” she captioned a zoomed-in screenshot of the Billboard article, which was published last week.

The section of the article in Gomez’s photo also uses the word “ridiculous,” which was attributed to the “Wolves” singer. Here’s that part, from the article’s opening paragraph, in full: “There’s a five-foot teddy bear sprawled across the kitchen floor in Selena Gomez’s North Hollywood home. ‘I know, I know,’ says Gomez, rolling her eyes, acknowledging that the stuffed animal doesn’t quite blend with the trio of armchairs nestled in the inviting, marble-accented nook. ‘It was a gift, and at first I thought, ‘This is so ridiculous, I can’t wait until I give it away to another person.’ But Gomez, 25, hasn’t let go of it—yet.”

It’s unclear what exactly offended Gomez about that seemingly innocent description, though it appears she feels she was misquoted about her feelings toward the teddy bear. The situation is made even more confusing by the fact that Gomez posted her Billboard cover on Twitter and thanked the magazine last Thursday, immediately after the article was published—which would imply that she had read and approved of the article at that time. And over the weekend, after attending the Billboard Women in Music 2017 event on Saturday, she posted the magazine cover on Instagram. “Thank you beyond for your acknowledgment and honor @billboard but honestly thank you more for the event you held for women. That night was so inspiring and every woman spoke eloquently and with such force. I’ll try to continue to give my best to even remotely live up to a title. In the mean time I hope we all continue to give our best when the world wants to give us the worst. We aren’t stopping the fight,” she wrote.

Neither Billboard nor Brooke Mazurek, the profile’s author, have commented on Gomez’s unexplained criticisms. And while the only way we’ll find out what exactly was so “hurtful” about the Billboard story is from Gomez herself, she’s previously acknowledged that she prefers to step back from the spotlight than offer up long, drawn-out explanations when things get overwhelming—so we many never solve the mystery of the five-foot teddy bear in her marble-accented nook.

Barack Obama Has Nicest Message For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

On Monday, the world was giddy with excitement over the news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are finally engaged. And it appears we’re not only ones excited for the impending nuptials: former president Barack Obama shared his joy in a tweet that read, “Michelle and I are delighted to congratulate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their engagement. We wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness together.”

The congratulatory note comes as little surprise, as the former POTUS has always had a solid relationship with the royal. Even after Obama left office he made time to stop in and visit his old pal Harry at Kensington Palace in May, where the two “discussed support for veterans, mental health, conservation, empowering young people, and the work of their respective foundation,” according to a tweet sent by the palace. The pair also kicked it at the Invictus Games earlier this year.

Prince Harry, 33, and the 36-year-old actress announced their engagement early Monday, but it actually happened earlier this month in London over a roasted chicken. Immediately following the reveal, Kensington Palace shared remarks made by several members of the royal family, including Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton who said, “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.” Prince Harry’s father, Prince Charles, also shared a statement with his wife Camilla saying, “We’re thrilled. We’re both thrilled. We hope they’ll be very happy indeed.” And of course Harry’s grandparents, the Queen of England and Prince Philip, were overjoyed with the news saying they’re delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness.

Now we can only hope that the Obamas make an appearance at the royal wedding this spring alongside Meghan and Harry’s other famous friends.
