Ariana Grande Transformed Her Home Into a Full Haunted Hotel for Halloween


Ariana Grande went all out for Halloween 2019. The star threw a massive party, transforming her entire home into a haunted hotel for the occasion. The themed costume bash, which she called “Ariana’s Twilight Zone,” included Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato, Grande’s brother Frankie, and tons of other celebs who turned up for the full spooky experience.

On Instagram, Grande shared scenes from the big event, which featured a long, creepy dinner table surrounded by skeletons and lots of candles to set the ambiance. The whole thing was the perfect setting for Grande to show off her chilling costume: She paid homage to the classic Twilight Zone series by putting on prosthetics that imitated ones from the episode “Eye of the Beholder.” (To refresh your memory, the episode involves a woman taking off bandages after surgery to fit into an alternate universe where everyone’s faces have been horrifyingly distorted.)

Grande shared several pictures of her creative costume and party decor on social media and thanked design planner Tricia Smith Brown for helping decorate her house. “Thank you @triciasmithbrown & team for transforming my home into the most stunning, haunted hotel,” she wrote in a since-deleted post. “I can’t believe how incredible everything and everyone was. thank you for making all my spooky, twisted, twilight zone dreams come true.”

The party also had a photo booth set up, where Grande’s celeb friend showed off their own Halloween get-ups. Frankie posted a few shots, captioning the images, “the family that scares together… ????.” He took a photo with Lovato, who commented on his post, “Love you!!!” Minaj also shared a black-and-white picture from the photo booth that included her friends and Grande, writing, “#BESTSTIES.”

Post-Weinstein, SAG-AFTRA Wants to End Auditions in Private Hotel Rooms and Homes


SAG-AFTRA wants to keep actors safe by making one problematic Hollywood practice history. On Thursday, the actors’ union called for an end to professional meetings in private hotel rooms and homes—a tactic that Harvey Weinstein allegedly exploited to sexually harass many actresses.

To do this, SAG-AFTRA issued a new guideline that will ask “producers and other decision makers” to stop holding auditions, interviews, and meetings in such “high-risk locations,” as well as urge its members and their reps to turn down such meetings. In the rare event that this isn’t possible, the union encourages members to take “Support Peers” to the meeting, a press release stated. According to the guideline, the “Support Peer” should have “physical access” to the actor throughout the meeting, so separating them with a closed door, for example, is unacceptable.

“We are committed to addressing the scenario that has allowed predators to exploit performers behind closed doors under the guise of a professional meeting,” said Gabrielle Carteris, the SAG-AFTRA president, in a statement.

According to the press release, this new guideline is the first expansion of SAG-AFTRA’s new Code of Conduct, which it published in February as part of its advance equity and anti-harassment initiative, Four Pillars of Change. A Variety story from February reported that the new initiative includes rules, guidelines, education, expanded intervention efforts, and safety nets.

“To truly change the culture we must be courageous and willing,” Carteris said in February, according to Variety. “At its most basic, this Code will ultimately help better define what harassment is, and what members’ rights are in real world situations. We are going further, however, with the launch of our Four Pillars of Change initiative to achieve safe workplaces and advance equity.”

Women's Group Ultra Violet Projects Message on Trump Hotel


“DONALD TRUMP HARASSED OR ASSAULTED TWENTY WOMEN. CONGRESS: INVESTIGATE TRUMP. #SOTU”

That’s the message that women’s group Ultra Violet projected onto the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. tonight ahead of President Trump’s first State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress. UltraViolet describes itself as “a 1,000,000 strong community that leverages high profile media moments to hold decision makers accountable, create a cost for sexism, and shine a light on the people and policies that are improving all women’s lives.” And boy, did they take advantage of tonight’s high-profile moment.

“As President Trump takes the podium for his first State of the Union address to the country, he remains accused of sexual harassment or assault from more than twenty women. This is a national shame,” explained Karin Roland, Chief Campaigns Officer at UltraViolet. “It is impossible for us to tackle the nation’s sexual assault and harassment epidemic when the man who occupies our highest office is facing no accountability for the scores of sexual abuse accusations mounted against him. The pervasiveness of sexual assault and harassment across the country has never been clearer: In the year of #MeToo, survivors have stepped up and called their abusers out, sparking a new wave of urgency and accountability. Congress must investigate sexual harassment and assault allegations against Trump and hold him accountable for his crimes against women immediately.”

At least 16 women have accused the president of sexual harassment and misconduct. Trump denies that accusations and the White House has basically said that the women are lying. But in a world where #MeToo and Time’s Up are dominating the headlines, many groups will continue to call for an investigation of Trump who thus far has not faced any real consequences for the accusations, unlike other powerful men from Harvey Weinstein to Matt Lauer.
