We Tested Kylie Jenner’s Face Wash to See How Well It Works

Results: At first I was appalled by Kylie’s video, but the more I thought about it, it made sense that she would have makeup all over her towel. She really did have only a few seconds to show the product in action, and even when I double-cleanse, I often have foundation left on my own towel. The foaming cleanser broke down a good amount of my foundation, most of what was on my towel was mascara, which it had a harder time removing. I personally found the wash a bit too drying for my skin, but if I were to use this, I would definitely use an oil or balm first, to really break down all my makeup. It’s more of a second step in double cleanse kind of cleanser—and I prefer oil removers to makeup wipes, which aren’t as environmentally friendly.

Results: The Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash definitely exceeded my expectations. It was extremely gentle but powerful—it completely wiped off my full coverage foundation. Plus, it smelled really good. Although it was drying for the others, it felt great on my skin. Just remember the fact of the matter is that it’s a basic, no-frills cleanser—not an eye makeup remover.

The Consensus

So did Jenner deserve the criticism? Yes and no. While the time constraints play a huge factor in the video, she probably should have known that people are more educated than ever when it comes to skin care, and the Internet has no problem calling out celeb fails. Still, the Foaming Face Wash does its job when used correctly—even better so when paired with makeup wipes. Maybe just launch an oil cleanser next, Kylie?

Kylie Jenner Reportedly Hosted a Handmaid's Tale-Themed Birthday Party for a Friend


To some, the novel and Hulu show The Handmaid’s Tale is a searing study of gender, power, and politics in a dystopian society. To Kylie Jenner, it’s the perfect inspiration for a birthday party theme. Wait, what?

Hollywood Life reports that Kylie Jenner celebrated a friend’s birthday (Anastasia Karanikolaou, who turned 22) by throwing her a Handmaid’s Tale-themed party. On Saturday, she and guests posted several photos from inside a gathering where they watched the show’s season three premiere dressed up like its titular handmaids in red robes.

If you’re not familiar with the source material, The Handmaid’s Tale TV series is based off of Margaret Atwood’s 1985 bestselling novel, in which women preserve the nuclear family (man marries woman; they have babies; lather, rinse, repeat) through government-mandated abuse. While the show ventures beyond the end of the novel for further seasons in its fictional nation, Gilead, it doesn’t leave out the terror its characters experience while they’re forced to conceive and carry children (among other things).

This party made Gilead look less futuristic hellscape and more Bachelorette rose ceremony: Guests entered the party through an entryway lined with curtains. They were greeted by staff dressed in servants’ uniforms and repeating an oft-quoted phrase from the show: “Praise be.” Inside the party, each guest received a red handmaid’s robe, a white bonnet, and roses. Red roses also decorated the dinner table, and there were also floor-to-ceiling posters bearing Gilead’s insignia.

Kylie Jenner Is Getting Dragged for How She Washes Her Face


Not that it should be too surprising by this point, but despite the mostly positive reviews, Kylie Skin is off to a rough start. In case you missed it, last week Kylie Jenner took her Kylie Cosmetics empire to the next level by dropping Kylie Skin, a line of skin care basics ranging from a foaming face wash to a vitamin C serum.

Before it even launched, the line was causing controversy with fans because one of her inaugural products is a walnut-powder scrub; there’s been hotly debated for years as to whether these products do more harm than good. (Many dermatologists warn such scrubs can cause microtears on your skin if used too aggressively.) This left many followers wondering if she even uses her own products, and some even went so far as to say it was dishonest of her to release the line given her access to exclusive derms and expensive treatments.

Now the Internet is losing it over a new video posted on Kylie Skin’s Twitter and Instagram accounts. The clip shows Jenner washing her face with her Foaming Face Wash, and then wiping her face with a fluffy white towel. At first glance it just looks like any other innocuous Get Ready With Me video, but as fans pointed out on social media, a closer look reveals a heavy amount of foundation all over the towel. Kylie Skin claims the face wash “cleanses skin by helping to remove dirt, oil, and makeup for a fresh, bright complexion,”—something our own testers liked when they tried it—but the clip doesn’t exactly make a great case for it.

The takes rolled in fast and hot, with comments ranging from jokes like “Rihanna would never have done this to us” to more accusations that Jenner doesn’t use her own products. “What’s off to me about Kylie Skin is the fact that she’s selling products she clearly doesn’t even use,” wrote one user, adding, “She washed her face for literally SECONDS and her foundation was all over the towel. If I did that my acne would be popping.”

To be fair, the video is a short clip, and many aestheticians recommend washing your face for a full 60 seconds. So perhaps she wasn’t using the product to its full potential given social media’s time limitations. That being said, people are more knowledgeable about skin care than ever, and marketers should know better. It’s not the first time a celebrity’s been called out for a suspicious tutorial, and it probably won’t be the last.

Kylie Skin Review: Everything Worth It From Kylie Jenner's Skin Care Line


We toss around the phrase “break the internet” a lot, but there are few people who truly manage to. The Kardashian-Jenners always do, particularly Kylie. In 2015, she did just that with the launch of her makeup line Kylie Lip Kits (now Kylie Cosmetics). Her signature lip kits sold out in mere seconds, with resellers on eBay charging up to $3,000 for certain shades. Four years and a billion dollars later, Kylie Cosmetics is an empire in its own right, and has branched out into nearly every color cosmetic category.

Now, she’s venturing into skin care, another savvy business move, given that the category is quickly outpacing makeup sales. Fans caught on that she might have skin care in the works back in October, and the formal announcement—and separate Instagram page—came earlier this month.

What’s most notable (besides the very Glossier-esque baby pink packaging) is the price—nothing costs more than $30, which isn’t too surprising since her fan base skews younger. The same can be said for the products themselves. While nothing in it is going to be a potent gamechanger for someone with serious concerns (think acne, discoloration, or wrinkles), Kylie makes good on the basics. The line’s got two different types of face washes: a foaming cleanser and a walnut scrub (which was met with some skepticism on social media when Jenner announced it). There’s also a vanilla-scented toner, an eye cream, a vitamin C serum, and a moisturizer. Or you can get everything in a bundle for $125.

Diehards no doubt will drop the cash for the full line, but for the rest who are curious if Kylie Skin stacks up to her makeup, we recruited Glamour editors to give the products an initial test run ahead of the May 22 launch. Here are our first impressions.

Jordyn Woods Is Reportedly Fully Moved Out of Kylie Jenner's Mansion


Back in February, Jordyn Woods was thrust into the media spotlight when Khloé Kardashian’s now-ex-boyfriend and father of her child Tristan Thompson kissed her as she left a party at his house. Woods, who before all this was Kylie Jenner‘s best friend, took a lot of vitriol as a result: The internet blew up with memes and angry tweets, and Woods’ relationship with the Kardashian-Jenner family took a turn.

Three months have come and gone since then, and it seems as though the drama has finally come to an end. All signs point to the fact that Jordyn and Kylie, who once lived together in Jenner’s Hidden Hills, California home (as documented on the reality show Life of Kylie), are no longer as close as they once were. In fact, Woods is fully moved out of Jenner’s home.
According to TMZ, Woods swung by Jenner’s about a week and a half ago to pick up her things.

The outlet also reports that the two women are still amicable—and have been, it seems: They reportedly got lunch together in March. But they’re each doing their own thing now: Yesterday Kylie and her boyfriend Travis Scott got matching tattoos Stormi tattoos on their right arms.

And for Woods? She posted on Saturday night that she’s found a new place of her own—and she’s busy furnishing it.

Kylie Jenner, Burgeoning Tattoo Artist, Gave Travis Scott a Mystery Tattoo


Remember all those rumors that Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott’s relationship was in peril? Yeah, neither do we. The couple looked more united than ever this past week, after Jenner threw Scott an absolutely bonkers 28th birthday party, which included its very own tattoo station.

Thanks to a video from celebrity tattoo artist JonBoy (Jonathan Valena), we know that at one point in the evening, Jenner took control of the needle and gave Scott a tattoo. While we don’t know what the final image looks like, JonBoy’s caption, “T.S. [heart emoji] K.J,” might be a hint. In another video from the night, Jenner and Scott appear to be getting tattoos from JonBoy himself. With the Met Gala set to unfold on Monday, it’s possible we get our first look at the couple’s brand new ink as early as tomorrow.

That was just one of the many (many) highlights from the party, which Jenner said she creative-directed herself. Among the guests who enjoyed burgers and a giant birthday cake in the shape of an Air Jordan, were Madison Beer, Kanye West, and Kendall Jenner. Kim Kardashian was also on hand, and documented the extravagant evening on her Instagram Stories. “We’re in a fun house. I don’t know what’s going on here,” she said after walking through the mouth of a giant blow-up version of Scott. Yeah, that sounds about right.

Earlier in the day, Jenner paid tribute to Scott on Instagram, with a series of photos and a steamy caption. “Watching you evolve into the partner, friend, son, and father you are today has been so fulfilling ♥️ my real life bestie & hubby all wrapped into one,” she wrote. “i love you and I’m so so proud of you. happy happy birthday ?? let’s f*ck around and have another baby.”
