Matthew Perry’s ‘Friends’ Costars Had the Best Reactions to His Joining Instagram

Update 2/9/20:

Matthew Perry joined Instagram to much fanfare, especially from his Friends castmates including Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, and onscreen wife, Courteney Cox. But he made us all wait to see what his first post would actually be.

Of course, it was very Chandler Bing, using a GIF from the show where he dances around excitedly. “This is how thrilled I am to finally be on Instagram. So, here we go…” he wrote in the caption.

His second post also had that pitch-perfect Chandler sarcastic charm.

We can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

Original story:

We never thought we’d see the day, but Chandler Bing is on Instagram at long last. Well, actually, the actor who played him is. Matthew Perry became the final cast member from Friends to hop onto the social media platform.

Lisa Kudrow made the announcement for him with a sweet throwback photo of the two of them—and a great reference to the show. “Finally!!! Yay!! Can’t believe my eyes MY EYES. Welcome to Instagram @mattyperry4 #friendsforlife,” she wrote in the caption. Perry already has more than 2 million followers—and he hasn’t even made a single post yet.

Kate Middleton and Mary Berry Are Joining Forces for a Holiday Cooking Show

Our two favorite British worlds are colliding soon!

In the purest news of the day, the Sun reports that Kate Middleton and Mary Berry will appear together on a holiday special. The Duchess of Cambridge and The Great British Bake Off’s beloved judge alumna will join forces for a BBC1 seasonal special, in which they’ll work together to make a Christmas feast for charity workers.

The program is reportedly being called “The Mary Berry Royal Christmas Show.” Middleton and Berry apparently have already bonded over their shared love of charity work, and the show will put their friendship on TV for an important meal. The Mirror suggests that the feast might be hosted at “royal venue,” and that Berry will be in charge of the food, while Middleton will help out. “They will bring seasonal goodwill to their guests and to the millions of viewers watching. Expect a properly uplifting Christmas treat,” the Mirror‘s source added. There’s no premiere date quite yet so fans will just have to keep an eye out.

Middleton seems to be more comfortable with TV and film projects these days; back in September, sources said she took a meeting with Love Actually director Richard Curtis to discuss a potential collaboration on something involving mental health. It’s still not totally clear what they’re cooking up, but it all seems to reinforce the idea that Middleton has been taking charge more, doing things she likes, and focusing on causes that are important to her. A People story pointed out that in addition to confidently steering work on parenthood and child development, she’s allegedly writing her own speeches and showing more of her personality while meeting with U.K. organizers. Even the Queen is said to be quite proud of her lately!

“She is now more open with what she wants to say, and funnily enough, she is more relaxed as well,” a family source told People. It looks like this TV moment with Mary Berry is going to offer another chance for Middleton to get personal—and a delightful opportunity for all of us to see this adorable friendship keep unfolding.

Mischa Barton Is Joining *The Hills* Revival, and It Feels Like 2005 Again

Mischa Barton, known best for the aughts-defining TV show The O.C., is now jumping over to another iconic franchise.

According to a press release, Barton will be one of the stars of MTV’s upcoming The Hills revival, joining original cast members Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Frankie Delgado, Heidi Pratt, Jason Wahler, Justin “Bobby” Brescia, Spencer Pratt, Stephanie Pratt, and Whitney Port. (Sorry, but your favs Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari won’t be appearing at all, owing to separate reasons.) As MTV is only indulging us with a standard casting announcement, who knows what trouble she’ll get into when filming begins—maybe she’ll appear as a ghost and materialize in front of Summer! Oh wait, wrong show.

And speaking of The O.C., that cult-favorite Fox series, which starred Barton, Rachel Bilson, Ben McKenzie, and Adam Brody, actually served as inspiration for Laguna Beach, The Hills‘ suburban, high school-dwelling predecessor, according to People. Thus, the addition of Barton to the cast of The Hills reboot is a fitting tribute to everyone’s original favorite seaside teen drama.

The Hills: New Beginnings, the latest in TV’s constant churning of recycled nostalgia content, kind of makes sense as a next step for Barton, as well: As Page Six notes, she’s been fraternizing with many of the show’s core players for well over a decade, which eliminates the “new kid in town” vibes that may linger for the first few episodes. Now, get ready, California; here she comes! It really does feel like 2005 again. Hopefully, this reboot comes equipped with T-mobile Sidekicks, Juicy tracksuits, and countless trips to the Kitson boutique in Beverly Hills.

At the Golden Globes, Hollywood Men Will Be Joining Actresses in Wearing All Black

During the last few months, the #MeToo movement has not just resurfaced but taken down powerful men in Hollywood. One of the first notable casualties, of course, was Harvey Weinstein back in October, whose downfall catalyzed a wave of damning allegations that have sunk other once-prestigious mens’ careers. Earlier this month, actresses announced that they’d be protesting sexual abuse and harassment in the industry by wearing all black to the Golden Globes, the first major award show of the new year, on January 7—and now actors are joining in.

People confirmed in mid-December that major actresses and female presenters, like Meryl Streep and Emma Stone, would wear black in solidarity with the #MeToo movement. But celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbinati posted on her Instagram account Saturday that all of her prominent male clients will be wearing black to the Golden Globes, too.

“Because everyone keeps asking me… YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year’s Golden Globes,” she wrote. “At least ALL MY GUYS will be. Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here… just sayin…”

Hear, hear.

One of her clients, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, formalized his participation by commenting, “Yes we will.” Urbinati also represents Tom Hiddleston and Call Me By Your Name actor and Best Supporting Actor nominee Armie Hammer.

Granted, women do have a lot more styles, shapes, and colors to work with on the red carpet than men, who generally stick to some iteration of a black tux. But the fact that these actors are publicly standing with their female counterparts is a decision worth noting.
