Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Are Engaged

After two years of the best red carpet couple photos (and plenty of footage of Alex Rodriguez being just as mesmerized by Jennifer Lopez as the rest of us), the couple announced their engagement on Saturday night.

Rodriguez first shared the news on Instagram with a photo of the two holding hands against a tropical sunset, along with the massive emerald-cut ring on J.Lo’s finger. “She said yes ♥️,” he captioned the shot.

Lopez posted the same photo on her Instagram account, accompanied by eight black hearts as the caption.

While we don’t know too much about the engagement story yet (seriously, guys, we need details here), we do know that the two are currently on vacation together in the Bahamas, according to People. And just yesterday, Lopez was posting photos from the beach—shot by A.Rod because obviously)—in which the two were enjoying some downtime on the surf and sand.

Rodriguez also posted a teased his proposal on Instagram stories the day before the engagement with an enlightening quote. It read: “A soulmate isn’t someone who completes you. No, a soulmate is someone who inspires you to complete yourself. A soulmate is someone who loves you with so much conviction, and so much heart, that it is nearly impossible to doubt just how capable you are of becoming exactly who you have always wanted to be.”

Shortly after the couple posted their respective ring shots, the stans on Twitter came in hot with the reactions. To put it mildly, we’re all Hunter’s wife.

The couple has been dating since 2017. In fact, they just celebrated their two year anniversary on February 3, which J.Lo discussed on the Ellen show last month. The host even gifted J.Lo a massive clock with A-Rod’s face on it during her appearance. “It’s basically to remind him that time is ticking and he should hurry up and propose—or you should propose,” she said. Consider the memo received.

On Ellen, Lopez also talked about the couple’s much-headlined Valentine’s Day, where, in related news, another timepiece was gifted: The singer gave the former baseball star a blue and silver Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph watch, which reportedly cost a whopping $24,000.

We’re just so happy he can finally be an official Instagram husband. You know the photos from that wedding are going to be unreal. Congrats to the happy couple!

Yes, Jennifer Lopez Still Lets Loose on the Dance Floor

Just hearing what all Jennifer Lopez has going on right now will exhaust you. The multi-hyphenate performer recently began judging season three of World of Dance, which airs Sundays on NBC. She’s in the midst of planning her summer tour, It’s My Party: The Live Celebration. Oh, and she’s about to celebrate her 50th birthday. Throughout her nearly 30-year career in entertainment, every gig has something in common: an emphasis—and passion—for dance.

“The tour is going to be a very special moment in time,” Lopez tells Glamour. “It’s a big birthday for me, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate it than with my fans dancing and singing every night for some 20-something shows.” (Tickets for the tour will go on sale some time in March.)

In this celebratory spirit, we asked Lopez 10 big questions about the world of dance (pun intended), and her answers shed more light on the pop icon we know and love. Check them out for yourself, below.

Is there a dance move you’ve seen on World of Dance that wowed you so much you want to learn it yourself?

There are so many [where I’m like], “I wish I could do that. I need to learn that.” I think just the style of hip-hop right now is what really fascinates me: How quick and fast they move and how isolated the movements are.

What are the best shoes to go dancing in?

For me, sneakers.

Do you prefer dancing on your own or with a partner?

I like dancing with someone, but on my own.

Do you have any sweat-proof makeup tips for people who want to go hard on the dance floor?

No, you just have to let the glisten happen. There’s no way to keep your makeup together—if you’re really dancing. There’s no way. Be sexy!

Is there a choreography breakdown in one of your videos you’re most proud of?

I kinda like all of them! It’s hard to pick just one. I’ve had a lot of dance breaks.

Getty Images

When was the last time you were able to let loose on a dance floor?

The Oscars.

What would you eat to fuel a long night of dancing?

I don’t really have a pre-game food. I don’t think you want to eat too much before you dance.

You’re getting ready before going out dancing. What music are you listening to?

We put on a lot of hip-hop when we’re getting ready.

What’s your favorite dance movie?

West Side Story.

Did you go to your high school prom and, if so, what did you wear? Yes, I went, and I wore a dress that I designed myself and had made by a local seamstress. It was a lace, halter dress with a fishtail at the bottom. It was hilarious.

Jennifer Lopez Gave A-Rod a $24,000 Valentine's Day Gift

After two years of dating, Jennifer Lopez and former baseball player Alex Rodriguez are still going strong.

The pair, who just celebrated their second anniversary on February 3, haven’t completely ruled out marriage, but they aren’t forcing an engagement on themselves either. They seem totally happy going at their own pace, despite pressure from their fans.

But it didn’t stop talk show host Ellen DeGeneres from giving J.Lo her two cents on the matter recently when the singer popped by her show. DeGeneres let her thoughts on their relationship known with a very Ellen, very over-the-top gesture: a massive clock with A-Rod’s face on it. “It’s basically to remind him that time is ticking and he should hurry up and propose—or you should propose,” she said.

On to Valentine’s Day, where in related news, another timepiece was gifted—this time from Lopez to A-Rod. And we’re just guesstimating here, but we have a feeling it was a little more expensive than DeGeneres’ gift. She gave her boyfriend a blue and silver Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph watch. According to Page Six, the new arm candy is worth a whopping $24,000.

Instagram Stories

Given the two’s penchant for dressing alike, we’re just wondering if J.Lo splashed out on an equally fancy timepiece for herself, too.

Virginia Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy Addresses Statewide Controversies

I do believe that forgiveness is possible. I believe it’s possible to be remorseful. I believe in due process, of course. But I don’t know if apologies or denials are enough for Virginia at this moment. Most of us have, I think, reached the point where we have enough information. At least in the cases of Gov. Northam and Lt. Gov. Fairfax, these men are not in a position to continue to lead.

As a black woman, this is a hard situation. You feel betrayed. When a white woman who was the victim of sexual violence came forward against Brett Kavanaugh, it was kind of like a unanimous call for him to withdraw from consideration. He was confirmed, but the Democrats were pretty unified. But when it was a black woman who came forward with allegations against Justin Fairfax, the call has not been as resounding. Some African American women take great offense to that.

At the same time, this is where I see real possibilities for change, because conversations about that dynamic are happening at a magnitude that I cannot remember here in Virginia. Earlier this week a person called me and she said, “Jen, I just want to apologize.” And I said, “Why?” And she said, “As a white woman, I now understand that racism is still here. Some people believe that because we had Barack Obama as president and we have Cory Booker and Kamala Harris in the race for president, we have reached a pivotal point, the worst is over.” And she said, “Now I know we have not. I also suffer from some prejudice, I’m sure. I’ve had conversations about it and I am working to do better.” That she apologized—that’s never happened to me before. So if we can use this as a real opportunity to have candid discussions about race and gender and sexual violence and racism and white privilege, I think that can benefit us when we do come out of this.

We have worked as Democrats to acknowledge the hurt that casual racism can cause. But it’s not just about offensiveness or these racist tropes. We have to connect it back to how racism can hurt our constituents, how sexism harms people. These are not “interpersonal issues.” To me, the best way I can address these scandals is to introduce legislation that works to end some of the structural racism and sexism that holds us back. That’s the role I want to step into.

I talk about the need for Equal Rights Amendment, which is about the end of sex discrimination. It’s about equal pay for equal work. It’s about the wage gap. When I talk about legislation to address black women maternal mortality rates, which are higher in the United States than in most other developed countries, that’s about racism. And that racism is killing black mothers. Wage disparity, protections for the LGBTQ community, programs for the poor, for veterans, and on and on. We call out blackface and discrimination and hate because it affects people’s lives. And the antidote is not just statements, but legislation.

That is my job. That’s what I’m charged to do. That’s my passion. When I see unfairness, inequalities, and injustice, that’s what motivates me.

I have seen some conversation around whether I should have a role in statewide leadership. I feel flattered that people have taken notice of the work I do. It reassures me that I’m doing a good job. Bottom line, I’m here to do whatever Virginia needs to move forward. Whatever the party needs or requires of me, then that’s exactly what I will do.

Why Can't Everyone Stop Shipping Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt?

Jennifer Aniston‘s face was on the cover of the New York Post the day after Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announced their divorce. Not Jolie’s face. Not Pitt’s. Aniston’s.

The picture is a happy one—deliriously, flamboyantly happy. Her eyes are squinting, and her mouth’s in the shape of a big, goofy grin, as if she were on Space Mountain at Disney World. “Brangelina: 2004–2016” was printed on the top left corner in small font, and Aniston’s face explained the rest. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s marriage was dead, the Post said, and Jennifer Aniston was dancing on its grave.

This, in a nutshell, perfectly encapsulates the public’s relationship with Aniston for the past 14 years. Her happiness, in their eyes, has been determined solely on her love life—specifically in comparison to Pitt’s. By now their love triangle is ancient history: Aniston and Pitt were married from 2000 to 2005, and they divorced shortly after he met Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. There were allegations of infidelity on Pitt’s end that were never confirmed, but the media had already painted its narrative: Pitt and Jolie are happy, and Aniston’s sad.

New York Post

Sad and single. That last word is key, because apparently Aniston can’t be fulfilled if she’s single—even though she has millions of dollars, a great career, and good health. But the tides turned, interestingly, in February 2018 when news broke Aniston and her husband, Justin Theroux, were divorcing after two years of marriage. The only reason people were cool with Aniston being single then (and now) is because Pitt is also unattached. Tweets about them possibly getting back together are, unsurprisingly, all over the Internet:

These feelings intensified even more over the weekend, when Pitt was spotted outside Aniston’s 50th birthday party in West Hollywood. To be clear, we don’t even know how much they interacted. Aniston had a ton of friends there—Katy Perry, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Reese Witherspoon, to name a few—so it’s very possible they just exchanged pleasantries and moved on. They’re adults, people. It’s entirely possible to be friends with your ex.

Of course, fans are metaphorically ringing the wedding bells over this news:

Which is bullshit, of course. Twitter’s shipping of Aniston and Pitt right now is beyond problematic because it suggests, yet again, that Aniston is incapable of being happy on her own—that Brad Effing Pitt has been the key this entire time, and now she can finally have him. It’s insulting.

Aniston is one of the most accomplished and in-demand actresses in Hollywood, with a reported net worth of $220 million, a slew of friends, and endorsement deals galore. Are people saying none of this matters if Aniston isn’t with Pitt—or married in general? It’s beyond frustrating our culture at large still has trouble seeing single women as content—that professional accomplishments play second-fiddle to the white-picket fence ideal, even in 2019. Aniston’s said, on multiple occasions, that she’s fulfilled with her life, and yet here she is: fighting the spinster persona tabloids gave her at 36 years old. She’s now 50. It’s been nearly 15 years.

Brad Pitt isn’t “the one who got away.” He’s someone Aniston was married to for five years and divorced. People split. It happens. Life moves on—and so has Aniston. It’s time we do too.

Brad Pitt Showed Up to Jennifer Aniston's 50th Birthday Party, and Twitter Freaked Out

If there’s anyone who deserves to throw a hell of a 50th birthday party, it’s Jennifer Aniston: She’s a huge star, defined cool American style—and she’s put up with years of straight-up rude headlines, whether they were Brangelina adjacent or asking once again when she’d have kids (she’s happily child-free). Aniston, of course, also happened to be married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005, and it’s something people kind of can’t let go of. Two years after Brangelina split in 2016, Aniston broke up with husband Justin Theroux last February, which has sparked all sorts of “rekindling the romance” headlines. All this to say, she puts up with a lot as she lives her life—and nothing says “50 will be my best year yet” like a headline-making West Hollywood hotel rager.

It was reportedly an actual who’s who of a guest list: George and Amal Clooney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, Demi Moore, Barbra Streisand, Jon Hamm, Laura Dern, Charlie Day, Orlando Bloom, Tom Ford, Diane Keaton, John Mayer, Keith Richards, Reese Witherspoon—basically everyone you’d want to invite to your iconic milestone celebration. I mean, everyone in Hollywood turned out. What we might not have expected, though, is that Brad would show up to it.

Pictures exist of Jen wearing a black jumpsuit (gotta love a good party jumpsuit), while Brad was reportedly doing his usual newsboy cap and long hair thing. The back of his head, the one true Pitt sighting captured from the night, can be viewed here. Here’s what else we know, which is not much: According to W, “He arrived in a black SUV and was dropped off at the front door of the hotel. Literally nothing else has been made public.”

Speaking as someone who’s happily, platonically friends—super-close friends, even—with her ex, it is entirely possible that two people who once dated can still see each other as people at the end of all of it and hang out. After all, hopefully you were dating them in part because they were a good, fun person. I personally think it’s very nice that he showed up!

Twitter, needless to say, had some thoughts.

There was outright GIF glee:

A lot of wishing for once was:

Some using their powers of clairvoyance way too early:

And some people pointing out the obvious, because it’s Hollywood, and everyone’s hot, and the dating pool is only so big:

Also there was this voice of reason, embodied by a purple heart as big as its soul:

Anyway, I hope Aniston wished for everyone to leave her alone about this this year as she blew out the candles. Happy birthday, you icon.
