Game of Thrones: Here's Who Ends Up on the Iron Throne

After seasons and seasons of waiting, we finally know who gets the Iron Throne on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Are you ready for the answer? Drum roll, please.

Drum roll.

Drum roll.

Drum roll.

OK, no more delay. Here we go: GoT revealed this evening that the Iron Throne was actually melted by Drogon and Bran Stark was anointed king of the six kingdoms. Sansa broke the North from the seven kingdoms and became the queen in the North. Are you shocked? Surprised? Happy? Sad?

The “Who ends up on the Iron Throne?” debate has been raging on since the inception of GoT. With this much buildup, there’s no way showrunners could’ve come up with an answer that would satisfy everyone.

Tonight’s bombshell episode wraps up the Game of Thrones series once and for all. If you’ve been following the news, then you know fans aren’t exactly thrilled with how season eight has panned out. Derision for the show hit critical mass last week when a petition surfaced on Change.org urging HBO to remake season eight with “competent writers.” It amassed more than 800,000 signatures. (Lili Reinhart was not one of them.)

Jessica Chastain was one of the celebrities who voiced their concerns over how GoT‘s eighth season unfolded. After Sansa’s sexual assault was framed as an “empowering” growth lesson, the Molly’s Game actress tweeted, “Rape is not a tool to make a character stronger. A woman doesn’t need to be victimized in order to become a butterfly. The #littlebird was always a Phoenix. Her prevailing strength is solely because of her. And her alone. #GameOfThrones.”

Now that GoT is over, fans have the prequel starring Naomi Watts to look forward to. The show doesn’t have a premiere date, but it’s reportedly titled Bloodmoon. I’m already invested.

This New Game of Thrones Photo Gives a Big Hint About Who Ends Up on the Iron Throne

One of the biggest mysteries going into Game of Thrones season eight is who will, ultimately, end up on the Iron Throne. There are several fan theories about this, but a new pic HBO just dropped offers a strong clue.

Take a look at the pic for yourself, further below. At first, it just looks like a normal rendition of the Iron Throne, but check out the bottom. See those eyes? For this graphic, HBO literally put the throne on top of Drogon, one of Daenerys Targaryen’s three dragons. We never see creatures in photos of the throne, so this is an interesting development.

And it could mean a number of things. Or nothing! However, the dominant theory is Drogon’s presence means Daenerys ends up on the Iron Throne, and she takes her dragons with her. They’re a scary trio, so it’s probably wise she doesn’t leave them behind if she does win the throne.

It’s important to take all these theories and hypotheses lightly. HBO is notorious for including images in Game of Thrones promos that never actually make the show. That being said, I’m fully on board with Daenerys taking the throne once and for all. Jon Snow, who?

This isn’t the only big GoT theory to pop up in the last few days. A Redditor named DaughtersOfTheHarpy posted a convincing hypothesis nine days ago suggesting the Night King is after Bran Stark. “The Night King has had many opportunities to kill Jon,” they write. “If he was after him that bad, he would have killed him by now.” Good point.

We’ll find out the answers to these theories and more when Game of Thrones season eight premieres Sunday, April 14 at 8 P.M. ET on HBO. That’s only a few weeks away, but it feels like a lifetime.

Ariana Grande Wrote a Version of 'Thank U, Next' Where She Ends Up With Pete Davidson

Ariana Grande dropped Thank U, Next on Friday, and the album’s already a hit. Within minutes of its drop, fans started dissecting all the lyrics—especially on the heartbreaking single “Ghostin’.” These Internet sleuths think it’s about Grande’s complex emotions about Mac Miller’s death while dating Pete Davidson. Then there’s the title track, “Thank U, Next,” which really lays it out there when it comes to her exes.

But Grande has been working so hard on her album—she reportedly turned it around in two weeks—that we haven’t gotten a whole lot of backstory on all of the songs yet. As it turns out, there’s even more to “Thank U, Next” than the lyrics imply: The singer revealed in a recent interview on The Zach Sang Show that she wrote multiple versions of the song, including one where she winds up with Davidson.

Yep, you read that right.

First, a quick refresher on the lyrics—if you don’t have them memorized yet, that is. She name checks each of her exes in the song (which they got to preview before it dropped).

Thought I’d end up with Sean

But he wasn’t a match

Wrote some songs about Ricky

Now I listen and laugh

Even almost got married

And for Pete, I’m so thankful

Wish I could say, “Thank you” to Malcolm

‘Cause he was an angel

Things were in a tricky spot with Davidson when she was writing the song—they were ending their relationship, after all—so she decided to cover her bases. (Smart!) Grande says she wrote alternate lyrics, one of which didn’t name the exes.

“I was also trying to be protective,” she said in the interview. “In my relationship [with Pete] at the time, things were like up and down and on and off, and so I didn’t know what was going to happen and then we got back together, so I had to make a different version of it, and then we broke up again, so we ended up going with that verse.”

“There’s a version where I was getting married, there’s a version where I’m not getting married, there’s a version with nothing—we’re not talking about anything,” she added. “But we all knew that the first version was gonna be the version we ultimately went with.”

Grande added that she was, understandably, nervous about putting such an intimate song out into the world. “It was a big risk and a very scary thing to do, because it is my life,” she says. “I understand that to a lot of people, I’m not a real person, or it’s easy to just kind of like see me as like, a song or a picture or like, a thing that kind of exists in their head and they know what they know and that’s it. But at the end of the day, these are people and relationships. It’s real shit to me. It is real life and I spent a lot of time with each of those people…it was like scary to put in a song.”

Arianators, you can check out the full interview, below. She goes in-depth about how she made the album—but get some popcorn ready, because it’s about an hour and a half long.

Democrat Stacey Abrams Ends Bid For Georgia Governor

UPDATE 11/16/18: Democrat Stacey Abrams ended her campaign to become the next governor of Georgia Friday, which would have made her the first black woman in American history to lead a state. After a 10-day standoff, Abrams recognized in a fiery speech that Republican Brian Kemp will assume the position.

“I acknowledge that former Secretary of State Brian Kemp will be certified as the victor in the 2018 gubernatorial election,” Abrams said. “But to watch an elected official who claims to represent the people in this state baldly pin his hopes for election on suppression of the people’s democratic right to vote has been truly appalling.”

Abrams also made it clear her speech wasn’t one of concession, saying she plans to file a federal lawsuit to challenge the “gross mismanagement” of Georgia elections.

“In the coming days, we will be filing a major federal lawsuit against the state of Georgia for the gross mismanagement of this election and to protect future elections.”

Abrams made the announcement late Friday afternoon, which—according to reports—was the earliest state officials could certify the results after a court-ordered review of absentee, provisional and other uncounted ballots.

11/ 7/18: The fight isn’t over yet for Stacey Abrams, who is refusing to step down in her quest to become the first black woman governor of Georgia. On Election Night the Democratic nominee announced in a fiery speech that she would not concede the race until every single vote is counted, a rallying call that concluded a night of voting challenges for Georgia residents.

“There are voices remaining to be heard,” she told the crowd of supporters early Wednesday morning. “We believe our chance for a stronger Georgia is just within reach.”

Abrams, the former minority leader of the Georgia General Assembly and the first black woman to lead in the House of Representatives, is up against the Republican candidate, Brian Kemp. Kemp, who is currently Georgia’s sitting Secretary of State, was endorsed by President Donald Trump during the campaign. Over the summer Trump said Kemp was “tough on crime, strong on the border and illegal immigration.”

Here’s where things get a little tricky. Right now Abrams has about 48.7 percent of the vote, with 1,907,212 votes. Kemp currently has the lead with 50.4 percent and 1,971,831 votes, according to the Associated Press. This means less than 65,000 votes separate the two candidates. And those numbers really could mean something as Georgia has an odd law that states a gubernatorial candidate must win a majority of votes (more than 50 percent) to win the election. If neither candidate takes home a majority, it triggers a run-off election. Both parties would meet again for a December 4 vote. It would mark the first general election race for governor to require a runoff, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Abrams’ campaign team believes there are at least 97,000 early votes and mail-in ballots that have not been tallied, AP reports. The team believes she needs just 25,000 of those votes to be in her favor to trigger a runoff. However, Kemp disagrees.

“There are votes left to count, but…make no mistake, the math is on our side to win this election,” he said Tuesday evening, according to the AP. Still, Abrams is willing to wait.

Kemp famously played into the President’s racist rhetoric with a primary campaign ad where he said he’d “round up illegals and bring them back myself.” He ran on a platform that included increasing teacher pay, capping state spending, lowering health care premiums, and ending sanctuary cities. Abrams focused her platform on strengthening environmental protections, supporting a pathway to citizenship for immigrants, opposing further abortion restrictions, the decriminalization of marijuana in Georgia, universal background checks, and supporting educational scholarship funding for all.

Abrams was well-aware that she wasn’t liked by everyone on the campaign trail, but chose to focus her attention on empowering sideline supporters instead.

“My approach is this,” Abrams shared with Rolling Stone about her campaign. “I’m not going to spend a disproportionate share of our resources trying to convert Republican-leaning voters when we can invest in lifting up the voices of those who share our values. Because here’s the thing: I think our values are the right ones. And I think these values that are shared actually are going to be victorious on their own.”

Abrams also had some serious star power supporting her campaign. Just prior to the election, Oprah Winfrey flew to Georgia to campaign for Abrams, even going door-to-door to garner more support for the candidate.

“Nobody paid for me to come here. Nobody even asked for me to come here. I paid for myself and I approve this message,” Oprah shared during a campaign rally for Abrams.

If Abrams gets her way, and every vote is tallied, it looks like Oprah may have to return to the Peach State soon.

Crazy Catfish Story Ends With Woman Dating the Model Whose Photos Were Used to Fool Her

PHOTO: Composite. emmaperrier28/Instagram, adamguzel/Instagram

Are you ready for the best catfishing story in maybe all of history? On Thursday, The Atlantic published a modern-day fairytale that’s almost too good to be true — much like the first guy Emma Perrier fell in love with. Two years ago, restaurant manager Emma Perrier, who lived just south of London, decided to sign up for a dating app called Zoosk. She was looking for a relationship, not just a hookup. “I’m a romantic,” Emma, originally from France, told The Atlantic. “I love to love, and I want to be loved, too.”

Soon, she got a message from a good-looking guy who called himself Ronnie, short for Ronaldo Scicluna. He said he was 34 (Emma was 33 at the time) and an electrician. He was Italian but lived in England. They began exchanging messages and hit it off right away. Emma was flattered that Ronnie was interested in her. But there was a catch (of course): Ronnie was actually 53-year-old Alan Stanley, recently divorced and very lonely. He’d uploaded pictures of a “random male model” that he found online — a practice known as catfishing.

To keep the ruse going, Alan made excuses for not meeting Emma in person, even as their relationship became serious, or at least, serious to her. Eventually, though, friends and family convinced Emma that something was up; she used Reverse Image Search to find out where “Ronnie’s” pictures were from and discovered that they were actually of a Turkish model named Adem Guzel. Emma kept the relationship going while she did more research and eventually uncovered Ronnie’s true identity: Alan.

This is where the story gets downright unbelievable. Emma messaged Adem on Facebook to tell him that his pictures were being used in a scam, and they began talking on the phone and via FaceTime. They lost contact for a bit, during which time Emma and Alan, now using his real name and identity, met a few times in person. But eventually, Emma realized she wasn’t interested in Alan and wanted the man she’d seen in those pictures. She called it off with Alan, and this past April, met Adem when he arrived to London to see her. And then they fell in love. Adem and Emma have been living together for six months. Finally, something good in the world!
