Emilia Clarke Got Literally the Most Perfect *Game of Thrones* Tattoo

Game of Thrones may be ending next year, but thanks to some new body art, Emilia Clarke will be the Mother of Dragons for life.

The actor showed off some new ink on Instagram Thursday (September 20), which features three small black dragon shapes flying up her wrist toward her hand. “MOD 4 LYFE!!!!” she wrote, referring to her status as mom to her scaly TV children. “@dr_woo_ made sure this mamma ain’t NEVER forgetting her babies….” In the photo, she’s grinning ear to ear, and looks like she couldn’t be happier about her tiny tattoos.

Game of Thrones fans probably knew this tattoo was coming. In May, she told Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa that she was planning on getting a tattoo when the show was over. “I’m going to get a dragon right here kind of flying away,” she said, pointing at her wrist. “So I think that’s cool. A little kind of peace out.”

She further celebrated her departure from Westeros by chopping the “burnt-out Mother of Dragons split ends” off her hair. (So, in other words, a breakup cut, but with a TV show instead of a significant other.)

Clarke isn’t the only one to commemorate her turn on the show with a permanent souvenir. In 2016, onscreen sisters Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams got the numbers “07.08.09” tattooed on their forearms to commemorate the day they both found out they’d been cast on the series. Williams also has the phrase “no one” inked onto her body, likely referencing the time in season six when one of the Faceless Men, Jaqen H’ghar, told her, “A girl is no one.” For her part, Turner has a photo of a direwolf on her inner arm with the phrase, “The pack survives.”

Thanks to their epic body art, this “pack” will clearly survive long after the last episode airs.

Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding Are Set to Star in Your Dream Christmas Rom Com

Fans of both Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding just got a very early holiday present. The Game of Thrones star is teaming up with the Crazy Rich Asians breakout in the upcoming film Last Christmas, Variety reports.

Apart from the fact that it’s a love story set in London, the plot is being kept mostly under wraps. But with Bridesmaids director Paul Feig attached to direct, it’s safe to assume there will be plenty of laughs.

The pairing of Clarke and Golding makes perfect sense, considering where these two are in their respective careers. Clarke is set to bid adieu to Daenerys Targaryen when Game of Thrones‘ eighth and final season gets underway next year. Since winning our hearts as the Mother of Dragons, Clarke has become a household name with a major film career on the horizon. She’s already dabbled on the big screen in films Solo: A Star Wars Story and Me Before You.

As for Golding, he’s coming off the juggernaut success of Crazy Rich Asians, which spent three consecutive weeks atop the box office. Golding, who was a television host and model prior to being cast in Crazy Rich Asians, landed the part of Nick Young after winning a global casting call. He later appeared in Feig’s recent Blake Lively-starring thriller, A Simple Favor.

Now, Clarke and Golding will package all their talent, charisma, and promise in what should be a major hit whenever it’s released. Unfortunately, that day is still a ways away, with no release date for Last Christmas announced. Until then, you can get your fix by watching GoT reruns on loop, or going to see Crazy Rich Asians for the fourth, fifth, and sixth times, if you haven’t been doing that already.

Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa Had a Game of Thrones Reunion Literally on the Iron Throne

Unfortunately, new episodes of Game of Thrones aren’t airing until April 2019—but while we wait, we can enjoy a reunion from two of the OG characters: Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa). Clarke shared a photo on Instagram Sunday (June 3) of Momoa holding her on the Iron Throne during a GoT cast party this weekend. Clarke captioned the picture, “FYI…This is the closest you’ll ever get to me attempting ‘that lift’ from dirty dancing. Yes, my man is sitting. Yes, there’s no lake. And yes, I have no idea I’m NOT being raised above his head.” Momoa uploaded photos of himself and Clarke to his Instagram and captioned them, “Moon of my life @emilia_clarke every time I leave you my face hurts from smiling to much. I Fucking love you forever.”

See the posts for yourself, below:

Momoa and Clarke weren’t the only Game of Thrones stars who were reunited at the Ireland bash. Momoa also shared a photo of Kit Harington (Jon Snow) on the Iron Throne with him, while Clarke was caught posing with Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Dany’s right-hand woman, Missandei.

Though Momoa’s Drogo was (spoiler alert) killed off in season 1, he and Clarke have shared cute Insta moments before; back in November, they met up for drinks and selfies, with Clarke captioning a photo of the pair, “When life is so good that your sun and stars is in your city…you lose your eyes and gain 5 grins ? (and gins).”

Season 8 is set to be the last for GoT, and Clarke has already shot her final scene as Dany. The Mother of Dragons got emotional during her final moments on set, explaining in a Vanity Fair interview, “It f*cked me up. Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is… ” Still, fans shouldn’t despair when they consider there are a mere six epodes left in the series; with a cast this close, there will always be plenty of opportunities for your favorite characters to get back together. Even if it’s only in a world without dragons.

This Photo Is Proof That Reese Witherspoon and Emilia Clarke Could Be Sisters

In a cross-over universe we never dreamed would exist, it appears that Elle Woods and Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, are actually sisters—if not downright twins. The two (OK, fine, the actresses that play them) posed for a picture together on the red carpet of the Annual Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday, and it’s actual perfection. Twitter is also freaking out because well, it’s absolutely iconic legends Reese Witherspoon and Emilia Clarke together, and honestly what more could you ever want from life a picture?

The moment between the Big Little Lies and Game of Thrones actresses was caught on camera, and everything about it was incredible: take, for instance, the matching confident smiles and insanely complementary dresses. Both wore black—presumably a continuation of the all-black dress code at the week’s earlier Golden Globes ceremony to support Time’s Up. Clarke opted for an embellished Dolce and Gabbana dress (she’s the face of its new frangrance), and Witherspoon went for Prada. Apparently they share the same stylist, so similar vibes might be expected, but this is just next-level good.

Don’t believe us? Take a look yourself:

The Twittersphere, of course, promptly went into action:

As another commenter tweeted, “EMILIA CLARKE AND REESE WITHERSPOON I WILL NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS.” Time to get started on that fan fiction, you guys—Big Little Lies featuring the women of Westeros, perhaps?

Emilia Clarke Says She's a Better Feminist Because of Daenerys Targaryen and 'Game of Thrones'

While Game of Thrones‘s Daenerys Targaryen has undoubtedly inspired innumerable women all over the world to embrace their inner queens, she’s undoubtedly had her most profound impact on one in particular: Emilia Clarke, the Khaleesi’s IRL alter ego. In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Clarke explained how playing Dany onscreen for the past seven years has taught her more about female empowerment and to embrace her feminism.

“It’s given me a real insight into what it feels like to be a woman who stands up to inequality and hate,” she said. “And as [Daenerys] has become more empowered as a woman, you can’t hide any more. You are adding to the voices that are going to make people realize an equal society is what we’re aiming for.” Clarke shared that, because she grew up with her mother as the primary breadwinner in her household, seeing women in positions of power has always been the norm for her. “That’s the lens through which I’ve been fortunate enough to view the world,” she said. “It’s only when you go to school that you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s different, that’s weird.'”

As intertwined as Dany and Clarke have become over the past several years (blonde hair included), however, the British actress revealed that she has no idea how Dany’s story ends in the show’s final season, set to premiere sometime in 2019. “They’ve written a number of different endings, so none of the cast know what the actual ending is. If there’s ever a leak of any kind, don’t believe it, because it’s probably not true,” she said. “We have a very strict social media ban this year because people need to stop spoiling it for everyone. It’s really frustrating.”

Clarke’s GoT costars have also spoken about the upcoming ending of the hit fantasy series. In October, her onscreen love interest-slash-nephew Kit Harington revealed that a table read of the final episode had brought him to tears. “We had a read through last week in fact, so I know everything now,” he told BBC’s The One Show at the time. “I cried at the end. You have to remember that eight years of it—no one really cares about it more than us.”

Emilia Clarke Is Tired of People Criticizing the Sex Scenes on 'Game of Thrones'

Game of Thrones is one of the most beloved shows on television, but there’s one element to it that’s quite polarizing: the sex scenes.

GoT is infamous for its gratuitous—and sometimes problematic—sex. It’s part of why so many people love the show…and why others hate it. Granted, much of the criticism concerning the nudity on GoT is valid (it has depicted sexual violence against women on several occasions) but not all of it. There’s a certain subset of fans who’re just annoyed by the amount of sex—consensual, good, healthy sex—that Game of Thrones shows. And that’s the chatter Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, has an issue with.

“I’m starting to get really annoyed about this stuff now because people say, ‘Oh, yeah, all the porn sites went down when Game of Thrones came back on.’ I’m like, The Handmaid’s Tale? I fucking love that show, and I cried when it ended because I couldn’t handle not seeing it. That is all sex and nudity. There are so many shows centered around this very true fact that people reproduce,” Clarke told Harper’s Bazaar for its December/January issue. “People fuck for pleasure—it’s part of life.”

Clarke expressed similar sentiments back in March when she wrote an essay for The Huffington Post. “If you’ve watched Game of Thrones then, spoiler, you will have seen me in the nude,” she wrote. “There are plenty of ways in which people want me to respond to questions about this fact. And plenty of reasons why I do not feel the need to justify myself.”

Retweet. Whether you like the sex scenes on Game of Thrones or not, it shouldn’t have to be Clarke’s job to defend them. (It’s funny how the male actors on the show are rarely ask about their nudity.) At the end of the day, she’s an actress doing her job—and if she’s comfortable, that’s all that matters.
