Pete Davidson Says He Cried With His Mom After Splitting With Ariana Grande


During a standup performance in Boston on New Year’s Eve, Pete Davidson revealed that he cried with his mother after splitting up with Ariana Grande.

This story comes from Us Weekly, which reports that the SNL comedian made several jokes about his short-lived relationship with Grande during his set. “It made me see how ugly people can get, and how cool people can be,” Davidson said, according to the publication.

Davidson and Grande started dating publicly in summer 2018 and quickly got engaged. Things took a turn, though, in October when the couple revealed they were breaking up. One month after this, Grande released her smash-hit single “Thank U, Next,” which name-checks several of her ex-boyfriends, including Davidson. He mentioned the song during his NYE standup set, joking that Grande was a “diabolical genius” for literally naming the men in her song.

“Thank U, Next” infamously debuted on Saturday, November 3, just 30 minutes before Davidson had to perform on SNL. Davidson told his friends at the time, “We all have to listen to this song and you all have to look at me. It’s gonna be rough.”

In early December, Davidson opened up about the bullying he’s experienced both online and off over his relationship with Grande.

“I’ve kept my mouth shut. Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything. I’m trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference,” he posted to Instagram. “Especially in today’s climate where everyone loves to be offended and upset, it truly is mind boggling.”

Here's How Miley Cyrus Had Ariana Grande's Back After Her Split With Pete Davidson


Women supporting women is, without overstatement or exaggeration, one of the best things ever—and in the wake of Ariana Grande‘s breakup with Pete Davidson, Miley Cyrus sent Grande a text to make sure she felt a little love.

In an interview with Howard Stern from earlier in December that’s recently surfaced, Cyrus said because she’s an “emoji person,” she sent Grande “a bunch of hearts and the little cat with the heart eyes.”

As for Grande’s response? A single cloud—which, as we all know, is kinda the singer’s thing.

It’s clear that the two pop stars have a close friendship, even if they’re both so busy they don’t have much downtime together. The two performed together at the One Love Manchester concert, a benefit that followed the tragic terrorist attack at Grande’s concert in May 2017.

Cyrus also said in the December interview with Stern that she counts Grande as a “good friend”—even though they haven’t spent a ton of one-on-one time together. “Anything I’ve ever asked her to be involved in … she’s always done it,” Cyrus said. “So I can never say a bad thing about her because she’s always been so great. It’s not about how many hours spent or how many inside jokes you have, but it’s about the real shit.”

How Ariana Grande Has Covered Up Her Pete Davidson Tattoos


Ariana Grande has covered up yet another Pete Davidson-inspired tattoo—this time with a tribute to her late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller.

Eagled-eyed fans caught the ink update in Grande’s behind-the-scenes featurette for her “Thank U, Next” music video. Early in the BTS footage, she’s rehearsing her bend-and-snap (for the Legally Blonde portion of the actual music video) when she jokes about how much she loves her tattoos. “Look at my ‘Myron,'” Grande says, in reference to her foot tattoo of the word “Myron.” “Look! How cool, right?”

This “Myron” tat is located on Grande’s left foot in exactly the same place where, just a few months ago, she had 8418: the firefighter badge number of Davidson’s father, who died in 9/11. “Myron,” for those who don’t know, is the name of Mac Miller’s dog. It appears, at least, that Grande has covered up “8418” with “Myron.”

This isn’t the first Davidson tattoo Grande has covered up. Below, a quick guide to all the ink Grande swapped out in light of her breakup with Davidson.

When filming NBC’s Wicked Halloween special, Grande covered the “Pete” tattoo on her left ring finger with a Band-Aid.

Grande ultimately replaced that “Pete” tattoo with a black heart, which we see in the “Thank U, Next” video.

Davidson covered one of his Grande tattoos, Dangerous Woman-esque bunny ears, with a black heart, which led the Internet to think the two of them coordinated breakup ink. That’s probably just a coincidence, though. What a time!

Ariana Grande Wrote an Apology to Pete Davidson in Her 'Thank U, Next' Video


Ariana Grande dropped her highly anticipated music video for “Thank U, Next” on Friday (November 30), and it had all the early-aughts nostalgia fans expected plus a few surprises. The biggest one was probably Kris Jenner, who appears during one of the Mean Girls segments as Regina George’s mother. Obviously, she looked iconic.

But there’s a blink-and-you-missed-it moment that happens early on in the video—also during a Mean Girls montage—that’s just as surprising. It turns out Grande’s “Thank U, Next” Burn Book is filled with notes and musings about her ex-boyfriends. Most are lighthearted and funny (she writes Big Sean, her boyfriend from 2014 to 2015, could still “get it”), but her message to Pete Davidson—her latest ex whom, remember, she almost married—is a bit more serious.

“Sorry I dipped,” Grande writes to Davidson, opting for “SRY” instead of the whole word. “I love you always.” (She also wrote “HUUUUUUUGE” at the bottom of his page, which…we’ll let you interpret what that means.)

It’s a short but telling message. The last time Grande referenced Davidson in public was right before she dropped the song “Thank U, Next”—when she seemingly subtweeted him after he joked about their engagement. “For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh,” she tweeted (and later deleted) at the beginning of November. Her note in the video, though, suggests there’s still love between the two of them.

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson Apparently Have Matching Breakup Tattoos


It looks like Ariana Grande has said “Thank U, Next” to another one of the tattoos she got when she and Pete Davidson were coupled up. During the course of their short-lived but loved-up romance, Pete got a number of tattoos for Ariana—including a pair of her Dangerous Woman bunny ears on his neck. But right before their split became official in October, Pete covered his neck tat with a, gasp, black heart.

Now, a sneak peek from her much-anticipated rom-com-inspired music video for the chart-topping song reveal that there’s a new tiny black heart on her finger, right where she used to have Pete’s initials.

Check it out—right on the cover of her take on Mean Girls‘ “Burn Book”:

The black heart, by the way, is the same emoji she’s been using in her tweets and to promote “Thank U, Next“.

But this isn’t the first tattoo that’s been covered up. Ariana’s also continued to ink over her other Pete tats: Her “Reborn” one, for example, is now a sprig of lavender.

It’s believed that Ariana still has a “Lumos” tattoo that she got for Pete’s love of Harry Potter, Pete’s late father’s fire department badge number on her foot, and the two’s matching “H2GKMO” tat, which stands for “Honest to God, knock me out.” Covered-up tats or nah, we’re glad the couple seems to be processing and healing from this rollercoaster of a time.

Ariana Grande's First Performance of 'Thank U, Next' Is Clearly a Nod to Pete Davidson


Ariana Grande threw everyone for a loop Saturday night when she surprise-dropped a new song called “Thank U, Next.” To be fair, fans did see new music coming, but they may’ve been surprised by how Grande name-checks her exes in the song. “Thought I’d end up with Sean/But he wasn’t a match/Wrote some songs about Ricky/Now I listen and laugh/Even almost got married/And for Pete, I’m so thankful/Wish I could say, ‘Thank you’ to Malcolm/’Cause he was an angel,” she sings at the top of the track.

“Pete” is obviously Pete Davidson, the Saturday Night Live comedian whom Grande was engaged to all summer. Their whirlwind romance abruptly ended in mid-October, and Davidson hasn’t exactly been silent about the split. He’s made jokes in standup routines about it and even fake-proposed to singer Maggie Rogers as part of an SNL promo gag. That last stunt irked Grande and was no-doubt a reason she released “Thank U, Next” so quickly.

And she isn’t done calling out Davidson in her music. The singer’s first performance of the song will air on Ellen Wednesday (November 7), and there’s a motif going on: weddings.

In a video host Ellen DeGeneres teased, we see Grande and her backup dancers dressed in all white with a wedding cake and reception tables in the background. Grande even quasi-confirmed this theme on her own Instagram, dubbing herself and the dancers the “First Wives Club 2018.”

Davidson is the only person on “Thank U, Next” whom Grande says she almost married, so all this wedding imagery is most likely a reference to him. It’s not exactly subtle.

It’s also a bit perplexing, seeing as how Grande was seemingly so upset by Davidson speaking openly about their relationship. This performance, in many ways, is perhaps the most overt nod either of them has made to their engagement.

If Grande also does an interview with DeGeneres, it’ll be interesting to see what she says.
