A Star Is Born Every Clip Trailer

A Star Is Born is quickly becoming one of the buzziest movies this awards season. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper star in the remake of this classic story, which centers on a country singer on the decline who takes a young female singer under his wing and watches her celebrity rise. (Cooper also directs.) Early reviews of the movie were off the charts, with the crowd at the Venice Film Festival giving it an eight-minute ovation last week. Now, it’s taking the Toronto International Film Festival by storm.

“A STAR IS BORN is an endearing, sweet puppy dog of a movie, but Lady Gaga charges through it like a nuclear bomb,” tweeted Eric Kohn from IndieWire shortly after catching the movie in Toronto. “It’s fantastic,” tweeted Charles Bramesco, who contributes to Vulture and Mic. “I could not have been more skeptical, and yet this worked on me real, real good.” And there’s more praise where these two messages came from. Below, check out some early responses to the movie from TIFF. They’re almost unanimously positive—overwhelmingly so.

If you’re experiencing some serious FOMO right now, don’t worry: Warner Bros. just released four clips from A Star Is Born, so you can see firsthand where all this love is coming from. The first one, below, shows Ally (Gaga) and Jackson (Cooper) having a conversation in a bar about why Ally doesn’t sing her own songs. The chemistry between the two of them is undeniable—and the natural way Gaga swims through the dialogue is impressive.

The next one shows Ally singing the chorus of a tune she wrote on the fly, if you need a little reminder that Lady Gaga can belt.

The last two aren’t as exciting but still fun to watch. Below, watch as Jackson gets a lesson on how all music is essentially the same 12 notes. Do I know what that means? Nope. But it’s all good because Lady Gaga’s going to be nominated for an Oscar (hopefully)!

Last, Jackson’s friend tells him to get his life together over shots of him and Gaga riding a motorcycle.

What’s that? Nine Oscars just showed up at Lady Gaga’s house out of the blue? A Best Actress is born! (Kidding, but putting that energy into the world can’t hurt!)

A Star Is Born hits theaters October 5.

Urban Decay's Born to Run Palette Is as Perfect for Summer as It Gets

Summer gives us a lot to look forward to, like summer Fridays, road trips, and a good excuse to drink one more glass of rosé. But Urban Decay is here to one-up all of them—because the cooler-than-thou makeup brand is fulfilling our wildest dreams and releasing a new eyeshadow palette. If you’re a longtime fan of the Naked palette (or Naked2, or Naked3, or Naked Heat), we’re sorry to report that this isn’t another iteration of the bestseller. But don’t be too disappointed—because while the Naked series is great for versatile, universally-flattering colors, the Born to Run Palette just takes that to the next level.

Yes, among its 21 rich, super-pigmented shadow colors are a respectable number of soft, daytime-ready neutrals—you know, what made the Naked palette so good. But the palette also offers up bold, eye-popping shades, such as Hell Ride (a shimmery fuchsia), Wanderlust (a dark, gold-flecked green), and Accelerate (a metallic copper-red). We got an exclusive first look before it launches on June 12, and let’s just say the reviews our testers gave it were as glowing as the sheen the shimmer shades cast. “I’m most into the golden tinge on Wanderlust’s pine-green shade, Big Sky’s aqua, and Drift’s purple-gray,” says Rachel Nussbaum, Glamour beauty writer. “They’re sexy, vampy shades that only look better with a little sweaty smudging.”

Real beauty goes beyond the surface—and so do we. Sign up for our newsletter to get honest reviews, personal essays, and more every day.

The shadow colors are also soft but saturated, a.k.a. flattering for all skin tones. Plus, there are a variety of finishes, from satin to shimmer to metallic and beyond, to give you yet another chance for experimentation. “I really liked Ignite—a creamy, copper shade with orange flecks—for my base, and Accelerate for my crease,” says Khaliha Hawkins, Glamour‘s digital administrative assistant. “They really make my medium-to-dark skin tone glow. I would totally buy this.”

The magic of this palette is that it not only offers something for everyone, but also includes such a wide range of shades that you’re well-equipped to create a major makeup look whenever. For instance, Jet (a shimmering black with a purple sheen) is ideal for a night out, while Stranded (rose gold) can hold its own in a staff meeting. “Riff is the perfect, darker nude for everyday wear,” says Azadeh Valanejad, Glamour‘s video producer, who has a medium skin tone. “And I love Ignite. It’s the perfect burnt coral that just screams ‘Summer!’ when you’re all tan and want some statement sparkle in your makeup.”

Its versatility makes sense, seeing as the Born to Run Palette was designed to be the only thing you need to pack for a trip, big event, or staycation—although eye makeup remover would probably be a good idea, too. The hard, durable cover can stand up to tough packing, even if you’re the type to sit on your suitcase to zip it, and the giant mirror makes for easy touch-ups or en-route application. The magnetized case and wanderlust-y packaging also got praises around the Glamour office.

Urban Decay might have set the bar high with their iconic eyeshadow palettes, but the Born to Run Palette rises to the occasion—literally, because it works for wherever you need it. So when the Born to Run 2 palette comes around, don’t say we didn’t tell you.

Lady Gaga Is Coming for the Oscars in the First Trailer for A Star Is Born

Lady Gaga is coming for the Oscars.

The trailer for the singer’s highly-anticipated remake of A Star Is Born just dropped—and it’s good. Like, really good. If you’re unfamiliar with film’s general premise —the 1958 adaptation with Judy Garland is a must-watch— A Star Is Born follows an aging, borderline-alcoholic rock star evolving past his prime (Bradley Cooper) who has a chance encounter with a gifted young singer at a cabaret (Gaga, although Beyoncé was originally slated to play her). She wants to a be, well, a star, but doesn’t have the full confidence to pursue her destiny until they meet and form a connection. A dramatic mixture of love and power ensue, as her fame gradually rises while his falls.

A Star Is Born is a passion project for Cooper, who’s been attached to the film since 2012. He’s not only starring but also making his directorial debut with it. “It all came down to this broken love story, and there’s no better way to express that than through singing because there’s nowhere to hide when you’re singing. Your whole body is electrified,” Cooper explained last year. “That was the initial igniter of the passion for me … then, it was about going back and watching the other versions, and each one had many merits, and I wanted to make sure that this movie paid homage to and was aware of the [others], and honored [them] as another incarnation, while at the same time being a very personal movie that lives on its own.”

Gaga’s Little Monsters are pumped about her new movie. Below, check out some of the funniest responses we found on Twitter:

A Star Is Born hits theaters on October 5, conveniently when the Oscars competition begins to heat up. Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliot also star. See the full trailer below:

An Astrologer Explains What Being Born on September 16 Means

Were you born on September 16? If so, you’re in excellent company, my Virgonian friends, because according to Harvard’s Amitabh Chandra, yours is the most popular birthday in the good ol’ U.S. of A. It’s fun to be popular!

Astrology is not just your horoscope. It actually involves lots of math, and your horoscope is the result of your astrologer applying that math to human experience. For every degree of all twelve signs of the zodiac, there exists a Sabian Symbol. These visual representations were originally channeled by a clairvoyant woman (and fellow Virgo!) named Elsie Wheeler, back in 1925.

On September 16 of every year, the Sun falls on the 23rd degree of Virgo. This degree is special—the Sabian Symbol for it is of a lion tamer displaying their skill—and indicates strength of character and a willingness to strive towards self-mastery.

Discernment is a strong quality for Virgos in general, and if you have this birthday, your discernment needs to be applied to your sexuality, not just your mind. Getting embodied, embracing your sexuality, and harnessing your personal power with the radical act of self-acceptance are all parts of being a 9/16 baby. This isn’t about having sex, per se, but the virility that flowers from your sexual center. One of the things that I love about the Virgo sign is that it’s arguably the feminist sign—it’s the only one symbolized by a lady human and known for her wit. For those born on this day, you’re built to stand up to social pressures while in search of what’s real and true. So much of your work in life is in finding your voice. This is kind of a heavy cross to bear, but if anyone is strong enough to do it, it’s a Virgo. You’re likely to have had to transcend personal struggle to find that voice.

What’s so interesting about the astrological birth chart is that it’s kind of a chicken/egg thing. Your birth is the result of actions outside of your control, before you were even a pea. Early conditions in your family, including those related to your conception, shape your birth chart and your nature. So if you were born in September, that means that you were conceived in the cold winter month of December, somewhere around Christmas time. Even if you’re not of Christian origins, you’re still from a place where the whole country stops to celebrate. During this time, most people get a break from work, a reminder to value one another, and the space to drop into the physical act of love (I know I’m talking about your parents doing it—sorry!). People are also inclined to more depression and loneliness during the holiday times, so it stands to reason that they find sexy ways to connect.

In astrological terms, we’re talking about being conceived in Capricorn season, a time when we’re meant to invest in the things that count. Capricorn vibes can be a bit of a buzzkill, what with all the obligation and responsibility that they bring, which accounts for why some people tend to get heavy-hearted around this time. One of the results of being conceived in such an intense time, when the ways in which we’re connected are on everyone’s minds, is that you are a self-reflective, contemplative lover. As a result, September 16 babies need to avoid getting tripped up by ideas of love, and instead strive to be present for the real thing.

So go hug a Virgo! There’s probably one sitting next to you right now. ?
