Kate Middleton Reportedly Wants Her Kids to Spend More Time With Baby Archie

Kate Middleton had a pretty relaxed holiday with her kids and Prince William at Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate this year, and it seems she wants to keep that cozy family vibe going in 2020. According to sources, she’s hoping she gets to see more of the Sussexes and is really crossing her fingers that her kids get to spend quality time with Baby Archie in particular.

A source told Us Weekly that Middleton is “hoping that in the new year, the cousins will spend more time together” and noted that her kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—”adore” Baby Archie. The source notes that “like most children, they’re easily distracted and resilient,” so they might not be too upset that they didn’t see the seven-month-old baby at Christmas, since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to take their firstborn to Canada to unplug for a few weeks.

But if the source is right, Middleton could be pushing for a kid-filled reunion in the coming months. Prince Louis seems especially fond of the baby: A few cute photos taken at the King Power Royal Charity Polo Match show him wearing sunglasses and looking up happily at his tiny cousin.

It’s been a bit of a rare sight to see all of the family gathered in one place lately. On rumors that Prince Harry and Prince William are feuding, Harry said, “Inevitably, stuff happens. But we’re brothers; we’ll always be brothers.”

The Sussex couple then decided to take a bit of a break from public life to reset and hang out as a family. They rented a house with Markle’s mother Doria Ragland for Christmas on Vancouver Island and have been keeping things pretty low-key. Still, they’re due back in the U.K. soon, which hopefully for Kate Middleton means some adorable family time.

The Newest Photo of Baby Archie and Prince Harry Contains Sweet Hidden Messages

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, along with baby Archie, have been enjoying some private family time in Canada over the holidays—and they certainly deserved it after a year that saw happy occasions like the birth of their first child, royal tours, and countless engagements supporting their causes to less fun times like the constant rumors about their relationship with Prince William and Kate Middleton and their legal battles with the British tabloids.

Of course, the royals year-in-review video of 2019 focused on all the good things and included an an adorable new photo of Archie and Harry all bundled up for cold weather. People has confirmed that the shot was taken over Thanksgiving and the photographer is none other than the Duchess of Sussex, carrying on her sister-in-law’s tradition of posting photos of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis that she has taken herself.

But Markle’s photography skills aren’t the only sweet detail hidden in the shot. Royal fans may also recognize Archie’s adorable Ugg boots as one of the very first gifts the royals received for their firstborn. The world learned about the duchess’s pregnancy on the opening day of the couple’s royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga in October 2018. (Archie was born on May 6, 2019.) During a welcome reception, Australia’s Governor General Peter Cosgrove and his wife gave the Sussexes a stuffed kangaroo—and those little booties. Harry seemed thrilled with the gift at the time and it’s lovely to see little Archie making good use of them.

Archie’s hat also has ties to the tour. According to People, it comes from a New Zealand organization called Make Give Live, a community knitting group that gives an item to someone in need for every product purchased. Markle was gifted one for Archie during the trip, but People reports that she’s ordered more in larger sizes since the little guy outgrew his first one. (If you’re looking for the exact style, it’s called Cocobear and is available to purchase here.)

It’s all very cute—not that we’d expect anything less—and we can’t wait to see more of the entire Sussex family in 2020.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Released Their First Family Christmas Card—Starring Baby Archie

We interrupt your holiday plans to share that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s family Christmas card has finally arrived.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s latest Christmas memento was shared via Twitter on Monday afternoon by the royal charity Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle serve as the President and Vice President. On the digital card, the couple sits casually in front of a Christmas tree, while baby Archie crawls toward the camera. “Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year, from our family to yours!” it says in twinkling gold writing. Take a look:

This year’s card included a personal detail for Markle. Per People, the photo was taken by the 38-year-old’s close friend Janina Gavankar. The Morning Show actor has been friends with Markle since her Suits days and was among hundreds of guests who attended the royal wedding in May 2018.

Markle and Prince Harry reportedly went the digital route for the card for an important reason: A source told Harper’s Bazaar they wanted their greeting to be environmentally friendly. As royal fans know, Markle is a huge proponent of sustainable and eco-conscious fashion. The source also said their card was only sent to friends and family, as well as the patronages and charities they work with.

Monday’s digital greeting is the second Christmas card the couple have released together. Last year, the pair sent their holiday wishes with a never-before-seen photo from their May 2018 wedding. The stunning shot showed the pair watching fireworks at their reception.

When will we next catch a glimpse of the royal family’s Sussex branch? Not for a while. Royal officials revealed that the royal pair would be spending Christmas in Canada this year. The family’s staying there as part of a six week break from royal engagements.

Does Having A Baby At 35 Really Matter?

Becky S., who was 35 when she got pregnant, says she’s noticed that her age comes up a lot when she visits her ob-gyn too. “I think it’s kind of funny,” she says. “The doctors chuckle about it too. It seems ridiculous.” She says she has plenty of friends who have had babies in their forties: “I always thought I was kind of a young mom.” But there are risks to being pregnant at an “advanced” age. Serman had testing done for Down syndrome, which the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends for pregnant women 35 and up and says she was “really stressed” about the results given all that she had heard about a having an increased risk of a baby with the condition due to her age. “When they called me to say that everything looked fine, I almost cried,” she says. “I was really scared.”

Kate also remembers being worried about her risk of having a baby with health complications. She and her husband had a “really intense” meeting with a genetic counselor at the hospital during her pregnancy, who laid out her birth-defect risks in a way that freaked her out. “If I had been given the choice, I would have rather not known,” she says. “What’s the point? You’re already pregnant. Is it really necessary to scare someone to death?”

Having babies at an older age isn’t without its risks. The odds of having a child with birth defects do increase with age, but it’s a steady increase—not something that suddenly spikes at 35. “It’s not like everything is fine at 34 and then something terrible happens at 35,” says Lauren Streicher, M.D., an associate professor of clinical obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Older moms are at a higher risk of having a miscarriage, gestational diabetes, and high blood pressure than their younger counterparts, says Christine Greves, M.D., a board-certified ob-gyn at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. There’s also a higher risk of down syndrome. Women who are 35 have a one in 350 chance of having a baby with Down syndrome, per the National Down Syndrome Society, which offers up a chart that breaks down a woman’s risk by her age. Thanks to advancing technology, moms can have noninvasive prenatal testing, which can tell with 99 percent certainty whether the baby has trisomy 21 (a.k.a. Down syndrome), trisomy 13 (a chromosomal condition associated with severe mental disability and physical abnormalities), trisomy 18 (a chromosomal condition associated with abnormalities in many parts of the body), or other genetic complications, she says.

And, of course, your fertility is slowly declining over time as well. “I tell patients that, biologically, women are meant to have babies in their twenties, but I would never say that you have to have your baby before 35,” says Dr. Streicher. There’s only so much you can do about your egg count and quality as you get older—age is the number one determination of fertility—but Dr. Greves recommends eating a healthy diet, exercising, and avoiding smoking to prep yourself for a healthy pregnancy.

If you do start your family in your thirties and you want to have more than one kid, Dr. Streicher says you should probably plan to have them closer together than if you started having babies in your twenties. That said, don’t freak out about advanced maternal age, especially if you’re 35 or right around there. “I’m not seeing problems so much in women in their mid-thirties—they’re usually older,” Dr. Streicher says.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby Trailer: Watch and See All the Meghan and Harry Vibes

The trailer for A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby, the third movie in Netflix’s Christmas Prince franchise, is here, and it’s serving major Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and baby Archie vibes. So, in other words, the internet is going to completely freak out over it.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Christmas Prince series, let me give you some context: In 2017 Netflix released the first film, which centered on Amber (Rose McIver), a New York City journalist who travels to the fictional country of Aldovia to learn more about its party-boy prince, Richard (Ben Lamb). The two fall for each other and get married in the second film, A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding, officially making them king and queen of Aldovia.

And now comes baby. In this new film, Queen Amber is pregnant with the heir to the Aldovian throne, but she’s determined to make his or her life as normal as possible. She wants her child to grow up without feeling the burden or responsibility of being a royal—much like what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly want for Archie.

And the drama doesn’t end there. A sacred document that will grant a truce between Aldovia and another fictional country, Panglia, goes missing, and if it’s not retrieved by midnight Christmas Eve, a “curse” is placed on Amber’s baby. Didn’t see that coming, did you?

Watch the trailer for yourself, below, and prepare to be charmed.

When asked about the popularity of the Christmas Prince franchise, McIver told Glamour last year, “I think right now in the world there’s plenty of access to terrible news. It’s not just that bad things are happening; it’s the fact they’re reported on in the way in which they are. I think sometimes we feel pretty depleted by the state of things as we see them, and this is a chance to escape and believe in a fairy tale again and be children. It’s great. I’m glad it’s found an audience.”

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby starts streaming on Netflix on December 5.

Ashley Graham's Unconventional Baby Shower Looked Like So Much Fun

Ashley Graham and her friends certainly know how to throw a baby shower. But this party was no typical pre-baby celebration where guests guess the newborn’s weight and due date or wrap the mom-to-be’s pregnant belly with toilet paper.

No, this shower was totally unconventional, serving up what was surely one of the wildest parties of the year. Fans got a look inside the party thanks to social media posts by some of the supermodel’s friends. Derek Blasberg shared a series of videos showing guests enjoying stations with manicures, piercings, and even tattoos—real ones. And Graham’s friend and doula Latham Thomas posted more details about the night’s activities.

“This shower was so ? @kissthedeejay was on the 1s and 2s, you could get tattoos, ear piercings and decorate baby onesies that are being donated to families in need,” Thomas wrote on Instagram. “I was too chicken to get a tat or another ear piercing ?@Fridamom made a custom labor and delivery kit for Ashley – so adorable!!!!”

There were a few traditional touches, as well, including “It’s a mom!” signs, cupcakes, and candy, according to People.

In another video posted by Thomas, Graham gave a toast saying the party was “bigger than our wedding” and “like Christmas.” “If you haven’t gotten your ears pierced or a tattoo, you have to do that. There’s so much food, there’s a big cake that’s bigger than the one at our wedding,” she added.

Graham appeared to have a great time, posing for pictures with guests, including her baby’s two grandmothers.

“Thank you all so much. We can’t raise this baby boy without all of you, you’re our community,” Graham told guests. And we would like to thank Graham for proving that baby showers need not be boring at all.
