Pete Davidson Shares How He Proposed to Ariana Grande, Says It Was ‘Dope’

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson’s relationship is anything but traditional. After only a few weeks of dating, Davidson proposed to Grande, and the two have been planning their wedding ever since. But their whirlwind engagement isn’t the only unique part of their romance, apparently.

The Saturday Night Live comedian recently revealed exactly how he popped the question to his pop star fiancée, sharing that the big moment was incredibly laid-back. “I didn’t want to do something corny,” he said in an interview with Variety. “We were in bed hanging, after watching a movie. I was like, ‘Will you marry me?’ It was really dope.”

Despite the low-key proposal, Davidson added that he was as nervous as anyone would be when he asked the big question. “I’m still convinced she’s blind or hit her head really hard,” he said. “Something is going to happen, and she’s going to be like, ‘What the f*ck is this thing doing around?’ For right now, it’s rocking.”

Davidson recently moved in with Grande, and while he says he contributes to keeping the refrigerator stocked and doing the laundry, he calls the place “Ariana’s house.”

“I never thought I’d meet anyone like her,” he added in the interview. “I can’t even put into words how great of a person she is. I could cry. She’s the f*cking coolest, hottest, nicest person I’ve ever met. I’m f*cking living the goddamn dream. I feel like I’m living in a fantasyland.”

Grande also opened up about her relationship on the Zach Sang Show recently, saying she didn’t even plan on getting married until she met Davidson. “I’m not like a very traditional person so the fact that I’m getting married is something I never even saw coming. I never saw that coming, I never wanted that,” she explained. “Like, what’s the point? Then I kind of understood it once I found the right person.”

As for Davidson? He was on a slightly different wavelength when he first met Grande. “The day I met her, I was like, ‘Hey, I’ll marry you tomorrow,” the SNL star told GQ in an interview.

“She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture [of engagement rings]. I was like, ‘Do you like any of these?’ She was like, ‘Those are my favorite ones,’ and I was like, ‘Sick,’” Davidson added.

Two weeks later, Davidson proposed to Grande with a $93,000 pear-shaped diamond. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Ariana Grande Restarted Her Live Performance for a Fan Who 'Wasn't Recording' Yet

Ariana Grande will do anything for her fans — including, apparently, re-start a song mid-performance so they can snag the perfect Instagram. During her Sweetener Sessions show in Los Angeles over the weekend, the pop star did just that for a fan who wasn’t ready in time to record.

Grande only got about 15 seconds into her song “Raindrops” when a fan screamed out, “Wait, start again. I wasn’t recording!” The pony tail–wearing performer snapped out of her performance and addressed the fan, asking, “Did you say ‘Start again I wasn’t recording’?” Grande couldn’t help but laugh as she told the screaming L.A. crowd, “I listen! I listen!”

“Sure, are you ready now?” she asked, giggling, before saying, “That was funny!” and diving right back into the song. A Twitter user who was definitely ready for the performance captured the whole interaction on video and posted the funny back and forth — which has since gone viral.

This isn’t the first time Grande has paused a performance recently. During her Sweetener Sessions show at Manhattan’s Irving Plaza, she took a break to make out with her soon-to-be husband Pete Davidson.

Grande revealed on Good Morning America that she and her comedy beau won’t be getting married until probably next year. “We’re gonna, like, take our time to plan it,” she shared with host Michael Strahan. “We’ve been planning and my friends and I, my mom and everybody, have been brainstorming and sharing ideas and stuff. And it’s really fun. I work so much [that] I’ve never spent this much time or energy planning something personal that feeds my soul so much and my heart. I’m going to cry. I’m so excited. It’s sick. It’s really fun.”

Ariana Grande Reveals That Going Back to Her High Ponytail Is 'A Remarkable Feeling'

Ariana Grande and the first love of her life—by this we mean her high ponytail—are officially back together after some time apart.

The singer took a few days off from her signature look when she released her Sweetener album last week, and made headlines for her choice to wear her hair down to some accompanying events. But on Friday, she took to Twitter to reassure fans that her dabble into the world without high ponytails is officially over.

“my god going back to a high pony after a few days of not wearing a high pony is …….. a remarkable feeling,” she wrote. “i’m just ……. supposed to have a high pony u kno ? some things are just meant to be and this is jus one of those things.”

When a fan asked if her sky-high ponies ever hurt her head, she replied, “nah I can’t feel anymore the nerves in my head said fuck u a good year or two ago we’re good,” then followed up by saying, “ugh she’s up and she’s divine.”

This isn’t the first time Grande has opened up about her special relationship with her iconic hairdo. “The pony has also gone through an evolution, and I’m proud of that,” she told Fader earlier this summer. “Old pony? I don’t know if she’s that girl. But new pony? I like her. I mean, it’s like a Victoria’s Secret Angel without angel wings. It’s still her without them, but when she’s with them it’s like, ‘Ohh, I get it, she’s an angel.'”

Throughout this year, Grande and her hair have journeyed through a variety of different styles, including platinum blond and lavender dye jobs, and—gasp—a low ponytail. Even so, it seems she’ll always go back to her one true love.

Ariana Grande Reveals How Writing "Get Well Soon" Helped With Her Healing Process

Ariana Grande is opening up about her mental health, this time in song form.

In a new interview for Paper magazine’s new issue, the singer revealed that the song “Get Well Soon,” a collaboration with Pharrell Williams on her new Sweetener album, is about her struggles with anxiety.

During the interview, Sivan comments that the song “shook [him] to [his] core,” and asked Grande how she was able to be so vulnerable on the track.

“[Pharrell] kind of forced it out of me, because I was in a really bad place mentally,” she revealed. “I’ve always had anxiety, I’ve had anxiety for years. But when I got home from tour it reached a very different, intense peak. It became physical and I was not going out at all, and I felt like I was outside my body.”

“I’d have these spells every now and then where I felt like I was having déjà vu, but like 24/7 for three months at a time. It was really weird, and all that was on my mind. [Pharrell] was like, ‘You have to write about it. You need to make this into music and get this shit out, and I promise it will heal you.'”

It turns out, he was right. “It definitely helped,” Grande told Sivan. “It still took me a few weeks to feel better, but looking back at it now from a healthier place, it’s probably one of the most important songs I’ll ever write.”

The lyrics to the song are incredibly powerful, and it’s no wonder that Sivan felt like he was “punched in the gut” the first time he heard it: “Want you to get better/My life is so controlled by the what-if’s…/ Is there anybody else whose mind does this, mmm?…/ Is there such a ladder to get above this?” they read.

In an emotional interview earlier this week, she explained why it was so important to her to put a song like “Get Well Soon” into the world. “It’s just about just being there for each and helping each other through scary times and anxiety,” she said on Beats 1 radio. “There’s some dark shit out there, man, and we just have to be there for each other as much as we can because you never fucking know. I just wanted to do something to make people feel good and less alone.”

Ariana Grande Says She and Pete Davidson Will Marry 'Next Year'

For a while, it seemed like you couldn’t check the news without yet another whirlwind celebrity engagement taking over your feed. Now that things have calmed down, though, it seems those newly engaged couples—Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson, Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas—are taking their time planning their respective weddings. Latest to claim she won’t be walking down the aisle until 2019 is Grande, who opened up about her and Davidson’s relationship to Good Morning America‘s Michael Strahan in a new interview this week.

Though the pair confirmed their engagement only a few weeks after making their relationship Instagram official, Grande told Strahan that she and Davidson are in no rush to wed. “We’re gonna take our time to plan it. We’ve been planning, and my friends and I, my mom, and everybody have been, like, brainstorming and sharing ideas and stuff, and it’s really fun,” the pop star said. “I work so much. I’ve never spent this much time or energy planning something personal that feeds my soul so much and my heart.”

“I’m going to cry, I’m so excited. It’s sick. It’s really fun,” she continued, but clarified that the wedding won’t be “soon soon.” According to Grande, it’ll be sometime “next year.”

Grande also explained to Strahan how she knew the Saturday Night Live star was her match. “I mean, it’s just, like, a feeling, you know? That’s so cheesy. People are always like, ‘When you know, you know,’ and you’re like, ‘Oh, yeah, whatever, OK. Yeah, OK.'” But it’s true: When Strahan dug deeper, asking how Grande knew Davidson was her “soulmate,” as she refers to him on the song on her new album Sweetener that’s named after him, she said, “You just feel it, you know? He just ticks every box and just gets better every day, and I’m very grateful for him. Life is beautiful.”

What Were Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj Whispering About at the VMAs? An Investigation

The only thing more entertaining than Monday night’s VMAs is the behind-the-scenes live-stream that catches celebrities in their most natural state. Case and point: this juicy clip of Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande talking shortly after Minaj won the award for Best Hip-Hop Video. Now what these two are talking about is anyone’s guess, but based on Minaj’s devastating eye roll, there’s likely all kinds of shade involved.

One popular theory that emerged online is that the two were chatting about Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner. Earlier in the day, TMZ reported that the couple was originally supposed to be seated near Minaj, but asked to be moved after the “Chun-Li” rapper publicly slammed Jenner for using her daughter, Stormi, to help promote Scott’s album.

While it’s certainly possible that Grande was giving Minaj the scoop on Jenner and Scott, their animated chat could have also been about a number of other things. After all, these two go way back. In fact, their very public friendship was on full display Monday night in more ways than one: When Minaj took the stage to accept her award, Grande was right there to make sure she didn’t trip over the train of her dress. Minaj then thanked Grande in her acceptance speech, saying, “Ariana Grande, my baby. I’m so proud of you. I’m so freaking proud of you, Ariana.” Grande responded by mouthing the words “I love you” from her seat in the front row.
