Taylor Swift's New Music Video for ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ Is Filled With So Many Adorable Home Videos

Taylor Swift surprised fans this week by releasing a brand new song and music video—and a Christmas-themed one, at that.

On Thursday, Swift posted about the new music with a video asking her cats—Olivia, Meredith, and Benjamin—if she should drop the single she’d just written, instead of waiting a whole year for Christmas 2020. “When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee. When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs… just put the song out anyway. NEW XMAS SONG AND VIDEO (made from home videos ?‍?‍?‍?) OUT TONIGHT #ChristmasTreeFarm ?????????????,” she wrote.

The singer also dropped a brand new music video for the song “Christmas Tree Farm,” which features a ton of adorable home video footage of Swift as a little girl with her parents and little brother, Austin. As her fans know, she did grow up on actual Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania before moving to Nashville to begin her music career, and you can see the magical spot in the video. “I actually did grow up on a Christmas tree farm. In a gingerbread house, deep within the yummy gummy gumdrop forest,” she tweeted. “Where, funnily enough, this song is their national anthem. #ChristmasTreeFarm song and video out now .”

How cute is she? I love seeing her open up what might just be her first guitar, knowing what we know now about where that gift led. The song is lovely, too though not Swift’s first foray into holiday music. In 2007, she released the album Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection, which included covers of songs like “Last Christmas” and “Santa Baby.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift release if her fans didn’t go deep diving for Easter eggs and clues about future projects. One fan drew attention to one of the home video’s dates. “Uhm… guys. Look at the date. November 23 1989. Taylor wasn’t born yet. 8 days until the end of the month and then 13 days later she was born… 8… 13. TS8 is coming #ChristmasTreeFarm @taylorswift13 @taylornation13,” they wrote.

Admittedly, that’s a bit of a stretch—but we do know Swift likes to hide clues in her songs and videos, so nothing is totally off the table.

Jenna Dewan Responds to Rumors She Shaded Camila Cabello at the 2019 American Music Awards

Jenna Dewan appeared to have a great time at the 2019 American Music Awards Sunday night (November 24), rocking out in the crowd to the performances alongside her stylist and friend, Brad Goreski. But one moment caught on camera had some viewers wondering if she was mocking Camila Cabello.

It all went down while Cabello and her boyfriend, Shawn Mendes, were on stage performing their hit song “Senorita.” A clip started circulating on Twitter where people thought Dewan said to Goreski, “She’s always extra” while rolling her eyes, appearing to reference Cabello. Though others seemed to think Dewan said, “She always sounds good.”

There was enough buzz around the matter that Dewan felt she needed to address it on her Instagram Stories during her car ride home. “I’m getting a lot of text messages from people wondering if I was shading Camila. No! I love her. I love her so much. I’m such a big fan of hers,” Dewan, 38, explained in the video. “I don’t understand what that’s about but no, I love her, love her, love her.”

“Guys, we were bumping and grinding so hard to ’Señorita.’ We’re obsessed,” Goreski said. Dewan continued, “That’s my favorite song! Anyways, clearing that up. Thank you AMAs. That was so much fun.”

She also tagged Cabello and Mendes in the post, writing, “We love @camila_cabello @shandmendes.”

“I love this award show. I come every time I’m invited,” Jenna Dewan said earlier in the night on the red carpet, per People. “I’m so excited. Selena, I’m very excited about. Dua Lipa, I’m thrilled about.” She even shared a clip of Cabello’s performance earlier in the night.

So there you have it. There’s really no drama here. If only all internet drama could be squashed so quickly and efficiently. For what it’s worth, it seems that Mendes and Cabello had a great time last night, too. “Thank you everyone thank you so much!! ❤️ also @camila_cabello. i admire you so much you unbelievable human being thank you for being you ❤️❤️ we love u guys @AMAs,” Mendes tweeted.

2019 AMAs: Taylor Swift Shut Down Feud Over Music Rights With Career-Spanning Medley

Taylor Swift‘s American Music Awards performance had been making headlines long before she stepped onto the stage Sunday night due to a music rights battle she’s embroiled in with her former label Big Machine Label Group, Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun. But during the 2019 AMAs, Swift managed to have the final word on the feud without actually speaking a word about it. In classic Swift fashion, the singer clapped back through subtle easter eggs in her clothing and song choices.

To kick off her career-spanning medley, Swift appeared in a prison-like jacket covered in the names of the albums she does not legally own and sang the first few lines of “The Man.” It was a seemingly curious choice to open her performance considering the song isn’t even one of her singles (yet), but the lyrics seem to say it all: “I’m so sick of running as fast as I can /Wondering if I’d get there quicker if I was a man/ And I’m so sick of them coming at me again/ ‘Cause if I was a man, then I’d be the man.”

The 29-year-old then shed the jacket, revealing a gold body suit underneath, and launched into more of her well-known classics, including “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Blank Space,” and “Shake It Off” (featuring her tour buddies Camila Cabello and Halsey)—all of which could easily be taken as jabs toward Borchetta and Braun.

The Best Looks From the 2019 American Music Awards

The Grammys might hold its place as the most prestigious night in music and the MTV VMAs might be labeled as the wildest night in music, but Sunday night’s red carpet was undeniable proof that the American Music Awards are the most fashionable and star-studded night in music.

The 2019 AMAs drew major celebrities including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Lizzo, Shawn Mendes, Kesha, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa, the Jonas Brothers, Shania Twain, Christina Aguilera, Billie Eilish, and Ciara—to name just a few. And everyone brought their fashion A-game, opting for monochromatic dresses (see Selena’s lime green Versace mini as proof), show-stopping accessories (we’re looking at you, Lizzo’s teeny-tiny Valentino purse) and plenty of sparkles. And one of 2019’s biggest trends, oversized silhouettes, had its place on the red carpet with Halsey in a ruffly floral gown featuring an exaggerated train and Ciara in a baggy midnight blue pantsuit. If this is any indication of the red carpets to come during the fast-approaching 2020 award season, we’re in for a treat.

Take a look at all of our favorite looks from the 2019 American Music Awards.
