Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Shared Their Final Instagram Post

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have just about waved farewell to every aspect of their senior royal duties. They’ve wrapped up their final engagements and moved across the pond. Now they’re saying goodbye to one last tether: their Sussex Royal Instagram account. (This, no doubt, is probably because of restrictions they now have on using the word royal in their professional endeavors.)

On March 30, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (yes, those are still their titles, but you can just call him Harry) posted their final message on to IG. It’s worth noting that the comments have been disabled, likely with the knowledge that fans would have a very strong reaction.

“As we can all feel, the world at this moment seems extraordinarily fragile,” the message, directly from the duke and duchess, began. “Yet we are confident that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference—as seen now across the globe, in our families, our communities and those on the front line—together we can lift each other up to realize the fullness of that promise. What’s most important right now is the health and well-being of everyone across the globe and finding solutions for the many issues that have presented themselves as a result of this pandemic.”

“As we all find the part we are to play in this global shift and changing of habits, we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute,” they continued. “While you may not see us here, the work continues.”

They closed the statement by thanking their followers and promising they will be back in a new way, shortly. Of course, they didn’t say exactly when or how: “Thank you to this community—for the support, the inspiration, and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great. Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another.” The couple signed the post simply, “Harry and Meghan.”

And for those of you, like Donald Trump, wondering what the couple’s move to Los Angeles means for the United States, they will not be requesting any special treatment from the U.S. government for security purposes.

“A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex says they have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources,” royals correspondent Rhiannon Millshave tweeted on March 29. “Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

Looks like they’re just your friendly, neighborhood Meghan and Harry now.

Here's How Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reportedly Plan to Spend Archie's First Birthday

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their first son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6, 2019.

The couple reportedly already has some big plans in the works to celebrate his first birthday. An Us Weekly source says they are going to be “celebrating at Queen Elizabeth II’s Scottish estate, Balmoral … and have talked to the queen about having a picnic on the grounds.” The source goes on to say the queen is “very excited” for the celebration. It’s been previously reported that the Sussexes were set to spend some time at Balmoral with (Prince) Harry’s grandmother this summer—though with all travel plans right now, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume things could be on hold given the uncertain and ever-changing guidelines around the coronavirus pandemic.

Queen Elizabeth II will reportedly gift Archie with a “beautiful rocking horse,” with the Us Weekly source noting he loves the animals and “squeals with excitement” when he sees them. Markle also reportedly plans to have animal-themed cupcakes for at least one of the parties for her nature-loving son. “Archie loves being outside, and you can already tell he’s inherited [Prince] Charles’s passion for nature,” a source told Us Weekly. “He gets so excited at seeing all the trees. Now that he’s just walking, he’s into everything—he’ll often end up covered in mud!”

The outlet says there are also plans for a North American celebration. “Meghan’s mom, Doria [Ragland], and BFFs Jessica Mulroney and Abigail Spencer will be invited to stay with their families for the weekend,” a source said. The Sussexes recently relocated to Markle’s hometown of Los Angeles, where her mother also lives.

As the family hunkers down in L.A. amid the current global crisis, they’ve also had to deal with a tweet from President Donald Trump about who’s paying for their security. On March 29 he wrote, “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

A spokesperson for the couple quickly responded that they never had any plans to ask the U.S. government for money to cover their security detail and were paying for it privately.

President Donald Trump is Now Tweeting About Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

UPDATE: March 29, 2020, at 5:07 p.m. EST— President Donald Trump needn’t have worried; a spokesperson for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said that the royal couple has “no plans” to ask the United States to pay for their security, according to royal correspondent Rhiannon Millshave.

“A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex says they have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources,” Millshave tweeted. “Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

Phew.

ORIGINAL POST: March 29, 2020, at 4:09 p.m. EST—

President Donald Trump is busy tweeting but not about the coronavirus pandemic’s crushing weight on hospitals, the stimulus bill, or how his recent comments have affected the Asian American community. Instead, he’s taken the time to comment on a report about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

While hospitals around the country are begging for ventilators, masks, and gowns—which some fashion brands have been taking it upon themselves to provideDonald Trump is making his POV known about news that the former senior royals have reportedly moved to Los Angeles. “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom,” he began the tweet from March 29. “It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

On March 27, reports began to surface that Markle—a U.S. citizen—and her husband, Prince Harry moved with their son from their Vancouver home to Los Angeles, where her mom resides. They are said to be hunkered down at a “secluded compound” amid coronavirus concerns, though their reps have yet to comment officially.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Reportedly ‘Committed to Having Another Baby’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly planning to expand their family in the near(ish) future.

As the royal couple settles into their new Los Angeles home, a source told Us Weekly that the former senior royals want to try for a second child “pretty soon.”

“They’ll be trying in earnest pretty soon,” a source told the publication. “They just want to get firmly settled into their new surroundings first and give Archie as much attention as they can.”

So yeah, 10-month-old Archie will probably have to wait a bit for a little brother or sister. “They’re still enjoying these precious early days with him,” the source added. “They’re committed to having another baby, but don’t want to put too much pressure on the situation.”

This speculation comes after the news that Markle and Prince Harry recently moved from their new home in Canada to Markle’s hometown of Los Angeles.

Relocating to Los Angeles does make a lot of sense for the couple. Not only does Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, live in L.A., but the former Suits star has recently picked up her Hollywood career with a new Disney gig. She’s also reportedly considering relaunching her lifestyle blog, The Tig.

It’s unclear what else is next for the couple, but sources told People that the family is currently living in a “secluded compound” and are hunkering down amid the COVID-19 crisis.

On March 18, Markle and Prince Harry addressed the pandemic via Instagram to encourage their followers to come together.

“These are uncertain times,” they wrote. “And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary… We are all in this together, and as a global community we can support each other through this process—and build a digital neighbourhood that feels safe for every one of us.”

Meghan Markle Is Reportedly Thinking About Relaunching The Tig

Now that Meghan Markle has reportedly moved to L.A and secured her first Hollywood gig since leaving the U.K., it’s time for her to get back to another one of her passions: writing.

Markle is jumping headfirst into her new life now that she and Prince Harry have stepped down as senior working royals. According to Us Weekly, the duchess is planning her second cookbook and considering relaunching her lifestyle blog, The Tig, which was shut down when things became serious with Harry. Her first cookbook, Together: Our Community Cookbook, which she co-wrote with The Hubb Community Kitchen, came out in 2018.

“Meghan has heaps of projects in the works,” the source told the publication, including plenty of philanthropic work.

Back in 2019, Markle renewed the trademark for The Tig, sparking rumors that she was relaunching the site, described as a “hub for the discerning palate—those with a hunger for food, travel, fashion, and beauty.” Alas, at the time, a spokesperson revealed that “the lasting trademark is to prevent false branding [and] to avoid others purporting to be the duchess or affiliated with her.”

But now fans of the blog have hope once again. Interestingly, Markle once wrote about both her childhood dreams of becoming a princess and Kate Middleton on The Tig, long before meeting her future husband. “Little girls dream of being princesses. I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power,” she wrote in 2014. “And grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate.”

I’m glad Meghan Markle is getting back to doing what she really loves with her family by her side. And if she does relaunch The Tig, I bet the site traffic will be through the roof.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Have Reportedly Moved to Los Angeles

Welcome home, Meghan Markle—and welcome to the U.S., Prince Harry and baby Archie.

People reports the Sussexes have relocated to Markle’s hometown of Los Angeles, after spending an extended period of time in Vancouver Island, Canada. (The two moved there shortly after announcing in January they’d be stepping back as senior members of the royal family.) They are said to be hunkered down at a “secluded compound” amid coronavirus concerns, though their reps have not commented officially on the big move.

It’s been rumored since the stepping back announcement that the couple would be spending at least part of their time in L.A., which is also home to Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland. “Harry is looking straight ahead at his future with his family,” one source previously told People. “They will be spending time in California…He’s not looking back.” (The couple still maintains their Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor, where they stayed recently while finishing up their final royal engagements in London.)

L.A. makes sense for the couple for many reasons. Markle is from there, for one, and it’s where her mother, with whom she shares a very close relationship, lives.

It’s also the home to Hollywood, the duchess’s former (and perhaps future) industry. Just yesterday (March 26), her very first post-royal project—a voiceover for the Disney movie, Elephant—was announced. If she’s looking to get back to her acting roots, L.A. is obviously the place to be. Then, of course, there’s the typically sunny weather, the beaches and hikes (we know they love the outdoors, and so does Archie!), and the fact that they might not even be the most famous people in town.

Meghan Markle reportedly felt “trapped and claustrophobic” living in London. Since the couple’s decision to wrap up royal duties, a source told Us Weekly, “Meghan has a real spring in her step again. She feels like a new person.”
