Meghan Markle and Prince Harry May Not Be Able to Use the Word ‘Royal’ Anymore

So much has happened since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they’re stepping down as senior members of the royal family. The couple and baby Archie now live in Vancouver (they’ll be dividing their time between North America and the U.K.). They’re diversifying their work engagements (Prince Harry spoke at a J.P. Morgan event in Miami earlier in February). And the changes keep on coming. Now, it seems Markle and Prince Harry may not be able to use the word “royal” as part of their new brand—specifically regarding the charity nonprofit they hope to launch.

This news comes after The Daily Mail’s report that Queen Elizabeth II has outright “banned” the two from using the word “royal” in their current and future endeavors. People magazine’s sources, however, aren’t being so drastic. Rather, they’re saying “discussions” are underway about the matter.

“As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping back as senior members of the royal family and will work towards financial independence, use of the word ‘royal’, in this context needed to be reviewed. Discussions are still ongoing,” the source tells People.

They continue, “As part of the process to transition the Duke and Duchess of Sussex into their new chapter, planning has been well underway around the launch of their new nonprofit organization. Details will be shared in due course.”

That being said, People reports it is “likely” Markle and Prince Harry will not use the word “royal” going forward. For now, though, their Instagram handle is still @SussexRoyal. We’ll keep you posted on when (and if) that changes.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced in early January 2020 they were stepping back from the royal family. “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” they wrote on Instagram. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”

Here's How Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Reportedly Doing, Romantically, Since Stepping Down

If absence makes the heart grow fonder, it’s space from Kensington Palace that has brought Prince Harry and Meghan Markle closer together.

It seems like stepping back from their royal duties and moving to Canada with their son, Archie, was the right move. According to People, Prince Harry and Markle (who reportedly call each other “H” and “M”) are really feeling the benefits of time to themselves. “They are besotted and very sweet with each other,” a source told the publication.

“Archie is the priority. It’s very much still about taking care of him and putting the family first,” another allegedly close friend explained. “He’s a happy kid—he loves to laugh. Archie and Harry have such a good time together. And Meghan is a great mom. She’s very much about tending to him. They are trying to live their life as regular parents.”

As we know from another recent update about their life in Vancouver, the prince and Markle are very happy with their choice. “This decision [to leave] had been weighing on them for a long time, and they are relieved to have it done,” a friend told People earlier this February. “A weight has been lifted off their shoulders.”

They’re not the only ones who are benefiting from a royal hiatus. Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are supposedly closer than ever since all the royal drama, are also planning to take a break from their duties (though for a much shorter amount of time).

According to Us Weekly, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will have the end of February to themselves while Prince George and Princess Charlotte are on school vacation.

Nothing lasts forever, though, and both couples are soon to be reunited in London this March. Per Us Weekly, Queen Elizabeth II extended an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and is hoping everyone will present a united front.

Who else wants to be a fly on the wall for that family dinner?

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Had Dinner with Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez in Miami

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may be enjoying their “quiet life” in Canada, since stepping down as working members of the royal family—but that doesn’t mean they’re not making moves behind the scenes.

It was recently reported that the Sussexes popped over to Miami for an appearance at a private JP Morgan event, where Harry gave a speech that touched on mental health, as well as their decision to leave the UK for North America, at least part-time. Not to diminish the importance of his speech, but I’m just as interested in a dinner that reportedly took place following the speech between the couple and Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez.

Page Six reports the two couples dined at Habitat, a restaurant inside the 1Hotel South Beach, on Thursday night (February 6). “Harry and Meghan got on really well with Jennifer and Alex, and spent some time chatting with them over dinner,” their source said. “J. Lo was overheard inviting the couple and their baby Archie to her and Alex’s house in Miami to spend time with them and their kids.”

While we’ll likely never know exactly what the foursome talked about, here are some topics that I hope came up: J. Lo and Shakira’s Super Bowl halftime performance and the ridiculous sexist backlash; the royals’ trip to a Major League Baseball game in the U.K. last summer and whether or not they’ll raise Archie as Yankees fan; Lopez’s Oscar snub and that “Criminal” dance routine from Hustlers; a personal invite to the Lopez/Rodriguez nuptials; and possible charitable projects they can all work on together.

Seriously, what a power couple dinner. It was also rumored that Markle and Harry stayed with the duchess’s good friend, Serena Williams, at her home in Palm Beach while they were in Florida. So while they Sussexes may have put some distance between themselves and the British royal family, they’re happily spending time with American royalty.

Here's When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Will Be Reunited with the Royal Family

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will reportedly be back on British soil much sooner than expected,

The Sussexes shocked the world in early January when they announced their big decision to step down as working members of the royal family. “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” they wrote on Instagram at the time. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

Soon after the announcement the couple relocated to Vancouver, but now, at the queen’s request, Markle, Prince Harry, and baby Archie are reportedly taking a trip back to the U.K. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return to the UK soon with Archie at the Queen’s request to join the royal family at the Commonwealth Service @wabbeyon March 9th,” Sunday Times royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah tweeted.

“It comes as the Queen has urged the royal family not to obstruct Harry and Meghan’s aspirations for a new life, while negotiations continue over their deal to step down from royal life,” she continued. “The Queen has said: ‘If that’s what they want, if they want to go, we must let them go.'”

That means a reunion between the Sussexes, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, and the queen is mere weeks away. There have been endless rumors about the status of the relationships between Markle and Harry and the rest of the family, but regardless of what’s going on behind the scenes, we’ll likely see a united public front during the Commonwealth Day services at Westminster Abbey. The Sussexes and the Cambridges have attended the event together for the past two years.

It’s unlikely we’ll see Archie at the formal event as the royal children don’t typically attend—though we’ll keep our fingers crossed for a cousins outing with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis while the Sussexes are in town.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reportedly Took a Secret Trip to Miami

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just made their first appearance as a couple since stepping back from their royal duties and moving to Canada. The couple was spotted Thursday (February 6) pretty far from their current Vancouver residence—in Miami, to be exact.

According to E! News, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended an exclusive J.P. Morgan event at the 1 Hotel in Miami’s South Beach on Thursday night. “They came in through a private entrance. They did their speech and left before dessert,” a source told E!. “She introduced him and he spoke.”

Unfortunately, that means there aren’t any photos or videos of the pair floating around. According to source, “security was very tight,” and the two were able to pop in and out without much fuss.

This visit comes on the heels of rumors that Markle and Prince Harry are planning a move to Los Angeles for the summer. “They love being in Canada, but they are looking at houses in L.A. too,” a source told People. “They’ll likely have houses in both places.”

According to E! News, the couple have begun making some serious inquiries. “They have started to look at homes online and are in the process of interviewing security teams. They are getting their ducks in a row and seeing if it’s logistically possible,” a source said. “They’ve reached out to people in L.A. and would like to assemble a team of locals.”

In the meantime, the two are enjoying their new, quiet life in Canada. “They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs,” a source told People. Markle, in particular, is keeping a low profile, mostly enjoying walks with her dogs.

That doesn’t mean a move to L.A. is all the couple has planned. Apparently, they’re in the midst of launching a new charity organization as well. “It’s full throttle for them right now,” a friend told People. “They have a lot happening in 2020, and it will be really exciting to see.”

We just can’t wait to actually, you know, see Meghan Markle and Prince Harry again.

We Just Got Some New Details About Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s ‘Quiet Life’ in Canada

It appears the dust is finally settling after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they’re stepping down as senior members of the royal family. Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton are all back to work with their regular slate of royal engagements, while the Sussexes are reportedly settling into their new normal.

According to People, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and baby Archie are still staying in the mansion on Vancouver Island where they spent time over the holidays—and they’re loving it. “They are enjoying living a quiet life,” a source said. “They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.” Mostly they’re very happy to have the exit deal done. “This decision [to leave] had been weighing on them for a long time, and they are relieved to have it done,” a friend told People. “A weight has been lifted off their shoulders.”

That sounds just like the sort of normal life Harry, in particular, has always craved and never known, given the world he was born into. Apparently
the prince will even pick up takeout sandwiches from a local restaurant for the fam, while Markle is loving long walks with her famous beagle, Guy, and the couple’s Labrador. “She’s keeping a low profile while things settle down,” a source said.

But that doesn’t mean the couple isn’t hard at work making plans for their future endeavors, including the launch of a new charity foundation. “These plans take a lot of time, and staff are putting in the legwork to prepare it properly and make sure it delivers on the expectations and the couple’s ambitions,” a source told People.

“He really cares about his work. He’s a good guy,” another friend of the couple said.

“It’s full throttle for them right now,” another friend told the magazine. “They have a lot happening in 2020, and it will be really exciting to see.”
