Jennifer Lopez's Daughter, Emme, Made an Appearance at the Super Bowl 2020 Halftime Show

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira brought down the house at the Super Bowl 2020 halftime show. That’s not surprising—they’re incredible performers—but what did shock fans was seeing Lopez’s daughter, Emme, at one point during the set.

The 11-year-old made a surprise appearance during Lopez’s performance, to the delight of fans everywhere. Check out some videos from her cameo and some fan reactions, below:

Jennifer Lopez’s Super Bowl 2020 halftime performance was a true musical retrospective on her career—spanning from her early roots (“Waiting for Tonight”) to her biggest hits (“On the Floor”), and her most recent releases (“Booty”). Shakira’s set was also expansive: She performed “She Wolf,” “Whenever, Wherever,” and “Hips Don’t Lie,” among other songs.

Lopez pole-danced at one point during her performance, which was no doubt a nod to her critically-acclaimed turn in the 2019 movie Hustlers. She was believed to be a front runner for Best Supporting Actress for that role, but was wrongfully snubbed.

Lopez and Shakira released very kind statements about each other when it was announced they’d be co-headlining the Super Bowl 2020 halftime show.

“I’m so honored to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world—and to top it off, on my birthday. This is a true American dream and we are going to bring the show of a lifetime!” Shakira said, while Lopez added, “Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the halftime show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl. And now it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”

Jennifer Lopez's Super Bowl Halftime Show to the Oscars: Snub This

Did Jennifer Lopez shade the Oscars during her Super Bowl halftime performance? That’s what some fans on Twitter think.

Here’s what happened: Midway through the pop icon’s set, she did a pole dance to her hit nineties song “Waiting for Tonight.” She killed it, obviously, and that’s largely because she completed serious pole dancing training for her performance in the 2019 movie Hustlers. Her turn as Ramona in that movie generated Lopez serious awards season buzz. Many thought she was a shoe-in for a Best Supporting Actress nomination, but she was snubbed.

So it’s funny that Lopez busted out one of the skills she was lauded for in Hustlers during her Super Bowl halftime show. “Jennifer Lopez started her Super Bowl halftime performance on a pole to remind the Oscars how badly they messed up by not nominating her for Hustlers,” one fan tweeted, while another wrote, “J.Lo said, ‘I trained for MONTHS for Hustlers and didn’t get an Oscar nom. I am getting on the poll at the #SuperBowl and you can’t stop me.'”

Read some more reactions from fans who were on this same page, below:

Shakira co-headlined the Super Bowl halftime show with Lopez, and she also delivered a spellbinding performance.

Alex Rodriguez Was Just as Floored by Jennifer Lopez's Versace Moment as You Were

The world is still reeling at the sheer power of Jennifer Lopez, who at age 50, walked the 2020 Versace runway in a reimagined version of the famous green dress she wore 20 years ago — looking just as good, if not better. She got a standing ovation at the show and tons of love online, but her fiancé and forever cheerleader Alex Rodriguez may have been the most floored of all.

On Saturday, A-Rod was obviously still thinking about the show-stopping moment. He posted a behind-the-scenes shot of J.Lo posing in front of a mirror in the gown. His caption was short but pretty direct: “This woman…,” he wrote.

The former baseball player has always shown his love for the singer through very public displays of affection. Not that that’s surprising; he said 20 years ago that Lopez was his dream date — which, we should point out, was right around the time she first wore the iconic plunging-neck sheer dress to the 2000 Grammy Awards. The couple got engaged this year after dating for two years, but J. Lo has said that they’re not in a rush to start wedding planning. She’s been busy on tour and wrapping up Hustlers, which is being called the “movie of the year” and is getting some serious Oscar buzz.

In an interview with Vogue, J.Lo opened up about the iconic garment, and how it marked a major fashion and pop culture moment (and made her fans’ jaws collectively drop both in 2000 and today).

“That was a moment that captured people’s imaginations, I think . . . in terms of my career, this dress really marked a moment in time,” she said. “Even if you don’t know my music and you don’t know my movies, people know about that moment and that dress. That was it.”

10 Times Alex Rodriguez Was Jennifer Lopez's Biggest Fan

I understand Alex Rodriguez is an important baseball player, but he’s also Jennifer Lopez‘s Instagram boyfriend, which is way more prestigious. Seriously, swinging a bat on some diamond-shaped field is nowhere near as cool as being J.Lo’s personal photographer. Just being in her presence is an honor, and Rodriguez 100 percent understands this. That’s why he takes every opportunity to gush about Lopez, either on Instagram or in interviews or just by admiring her lovingly on the red carpet.

Below, check out just a handful of times Rodriguez shouted his love for Lopez to the rooftops. Wouldn’t you do the same?

Jennifer Lopez's Daughter Is a Mini J.Lo Singing in This Video

Proud parents tend to become especially proud parents over the holidays, as you might already be noticing on Instagram and Facebook. After all, there’s a lot of family time going on, from trips to seeing grandparents to school holiday performances. And it’s not just the regular dads, either; it’s the cool moms posting their children’s efforts—offkey or not—for all to enjoy.

And by “cool moms,” in this instance, we mean “A-list moms,” and by “A-list moms,” we mean Jennifer Lopez. Having recently decorated a Christmas tree with beau Alex Rodriguez to get into the holiday spirit, Lopez continued with her seasonal activities by attending her 9-year-old daughter Emme’s elementary school holiday show performance. On Friday, J.Lo shared a clip of her daughter singing “Do You Hear What I Hear?” at her “Christmas Pageant 2017,” and it’s basically proof that Emme is the next-gen version of her famous mama.

J.Lo filmed her daughter throughout her performance of the classic holiday carol. At one point, when Emme notices her mom filming her, she breaks into a smile, mimics the next lyric with a grin, and keeps on going with her eyes on the camera like the true budding profesh she is.

Have a watch, below:

‘Tis the season, after all, and celebrities are really getting into their holiday prep this year. Quite a few of them have been getting into the spirit all month, and of course we can’t wait for the parade of ugly Christmas sweaters on Instagram. In the meantime, us normals will be putting the finishing touches on some creative holiday decorations and keeping an eye out to see if anyone takes our very practical suggestion on the whole Christmas tree brows thing.
