Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian Hosted a Mini Olympics From Their Home

Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, have found a fantastic way to keep themselves (and us!) entertained as they isolate at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

With athletic events on hold for the foreseeable future, Williams appears to have found a great outlet for her fiercely competitive nature: a toy gymnastics set where you can simulate rotations on a horizontal bar and try to stick the dismount. The couple uploaded a video of themselves playing with it, which was made even better by the “Chariots of Fire” theme music playing in the background and Ohanian’s brilliant Olympics-style commentary.

As Williams pushes the button that makes the plastic figure spin around the bars, we hear Ohanian whisper-talking, in that perfect sportscaster way, comments like “The U.S. Olympic team has really fallen off since Simone Biles left and was replaced by this,” and “Quite the terrible dismount, probably broke a few bones on that,” as Williams’s toy fails to stick the landing.

But then…VICTORY! Just as Ohanian calls the performance “amateurish,” the GOAT gets it done, and they both go crazy cheering, as daughter Olympia looks on in the background. “Accomplished a lot with @serenawilliams this weekend… @simonebiles please help her,” he wrote in the Instagram caption.

Reader: I cheered too—and wished I had that toy in my apartment. As a huge sports fan, I’ve definitely missed watching games and matches on TV—and this little moment briefly filled the void. Also, how unsurprising is it that it didn’t take Williams long to completely dominate a toy sport? She is truly the best. I was not alone, as people chimed in with comments like, “I needed this during quarantine,” and, “LMAO what am I watching and why can’t I stop. Riveting ???.”

The Tokyo Olympics may be postponed until July 2021, but let’s hope the competition at Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian’s house is just getting started.

I Bought a Mini Trampoline to Work Out in My Apartment, and It's the Best

The single most expensive purchase I made in 2018 wasn’t a pair of designer shoes, the lamp I’ve been lusting after for six months, or a new iPad; it was a $300 mini trampoline. Long considered a fitness relic of days past (specifically, of the 1980s) it has been a total game-changer in regards to my approach to both exercise and my mental health.

I know you may be thinking, $300? On a mini trampoline? Most people stare at me—incredulous—when I mention it’s now my preferred mode of exercise. It’s like something a 5-year-old hopped up on sugar might ask for at a toy store.

This seemingly ridiculous purchase was initially the result of being Insta-influenced by Busy Philipps. Before this point, I’d tried everything. I suffered through anxiety-inducing spin classes and knee-busting barre workouts. I wallowed in the existential dread of a 90-minute yoga session. After 34 years of avoiding cardio-based workouts like the plague, I had all but given up on ever finding a routine that I actually enjoyed. Working out would forever be a punishment to endure.

Not only that, for years I was terrified exercise would trigger my past disordered eating or over-exercising patterns. At one point, I figured it was better to just avoid it all together. I resigned myself to the fact that a little extra squish around my belly was better than falling down the rabbit hole of bad habits. Instead, I did the work of self love and body acceptance and avoided almost every internet fitness craze, since they all seem to heavily lean into the patriarchal ideal of female physical perfection. Who wants to buy into that load of hot garbage? Certainly not me. (Not to mention the fact that being asked if I’m pregnant is certainly an efficient way of weeding out the assholes of the world.)

Enter Busy Philipps. She made bouncing away on a trampoline look like so much fun that I dropped the entirety of the money I’d been gifted for Christmas in 2017 on an Amazon order in early January. And here I am 12 months later, a full-fledged member of the LEKfit cult. I can honestly say that it’s impossible to do this workout without a huge smile plastered on my face. Glimmers of a familiar youthful glee surface while jumping away in the comfort of my own home—without witnesses. (Please believe me when I say that nobody needs to see this.)

For $20 a month, I now have access to Busy-approved trampoline and mat dance-inspired workouts at my fingertips. There are tons of free trampoline workouts on YouTube, but I’m an avowed LEKfit fan. The vibe is right up my alley: all classes are filmed in LEKfit founder Lauren Kleban’s black and white garage studio and accompanied by the best playlists I’ve ever encountered in any workout scenario (girlfriend has taste). Gone are the days of joyless, dread-inducing workouts. My ClassPass membership was promptly reduced to the bare minimum for the occasional pilates jaunt, and I can honestly say that I look forward to working out now.

The best part is that this trampoline workout is just as effective as it is joy-inducing. Given that it’s a low-resistance workout, I was worried that it wouldn’t feel like much, but it wears me out without feeling depleting. Instead of leaving more anxious than I began, I feel happy.

The second-best part is that having a trampoline in your home makes you the coolest aunt in town. What my home lacks in children’s toys or chicken nuggets, it makes up for with hours spent jumping up and down on a trampoline. There’s nothing like the surprise and elation on a child’s face when I pull this bad boy out. It’s instant “fun house.”

Sure, it’s a spacehog in my small apartment. But I’ve found ways to make it work. In ten minutes I can take it apart and store it under my bed, or I just leave it in the living room and use it as a footrest while lounging on the couch. Laziness dictates that for the most part, so the trampoline is usually just hanging out for most of the time. It’s a bit of an eyesore, but it doesn’t bother me since I use it so often and both my boyfriend and dog enjoy lounging on it.

I had always heard that everyone finds the right workout for them, but I didn’t think it would ever apply to me. I’d just be the kind of person who hates working out, and I’d move through life. But it turns out everyone was right. I hope, if you haven’t already, you find your thing.

Kylie Jenner Is Saving a Mini Hermès Birkin Bag to Give to Daughter Stormi

As her $12,500 Fendi stroller and $625 Gucci baby carrier have shown us, Stormi Webster—6-month-old daughter of Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott—is already building quite the luxurious wardrobe. But, according to her mom, there are a handful of big-ticket items she’ll have to wait to receive.

In a new video posted to her app, Jenner gave fans a tour of her famed purse closet—you know, the one filled with $250,000 of merch that has appeared all over her Instagram and Snapchat Stories over the past few months. While she was showing off the Hermès portion of her collection, the 21-year-old revealed there was an itty-bitty Birkin bag she’s saving to give Stormi.

“This is pretty much where I keep all my purses,” Jenner says in the video. “I made a little room in my house and I did this all custom so they all could have a little home and be lit up really pretty.” Of the Hermès bags, she notes how she’s been collecting them “for a minute” because they’re a “great investment,” before showing off a smaller Birkin—hot pink, with gold hardware—that’s reserved for her daughter: “Kourtney gave me this, which I think is super cute… This one I’m definitely going to let Stormi wear probably when she says, ‘Mommy I wanna carry a purse,’ so this is probably going to be her first purse.”

In addition to her countless Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Chanel “big girl” bags, Jenner revealed that she’s actually held on to her first purses for all these years. At one point in the clip, she pulls out a tiny, monogrammed Louis Vuitton baby bag and a black Prada coin purse: “My mom gave these to me and Kendall when we were super babies, so I’m definitely going to give this to Stormi,” she says. Upon whipping out the Prada purse, she seems to get nostalgic, adding that it “is in all our baby photos, me and Kendall, we’re always holding these at little holidays and events. I love this little coin purse.”

If Stormi doesn’t request to get her hands on these ones eventually, can we call dibs?

Jennifer Lopez's Daughter Is a Mini J.Lo Singing in This Video

Proud parents tend to become especially proud parents over the holidays, as you might already be noticing on Instagram and Facebook. After all, there’s a lot of family time going on, from trips to seeing grandparents to school holiday performances. And it’s not just the regular dads, either; it’s the cool moms posting their children’s efforts—offkey or not—for all to enjoy.

And by “cool moms,” in this instance, we mean “A-list moms,” and by “A-list moms,” we mean Jennifer Lopez. Having recently decorated a Christmas tree with beau Alex Rodriguez to get into the holiday spirit, Lopez continued with her seasonal activities by attending her 9-year-old daughter Emme’s elementary school holiday show performance. On Friday, J.Lo shared a clip of her daughter singing “Do You Hear What I Hear?” at her “Christmas Pageant 2017,” and it’s basically proof that Emme is the next-gen version of her famous mama.

J.Lo filmed her daughter throughout her performance of the classic holiday carol. At one point, when Emme notices her mom filming her, she breaks into a smile, mimics the next lyric with a grin, and keeps on going with her eyes on the camera like the true budding profesh she is.

Have a watch, below:

‘Tis the season, after all, and celebrities are really getting into their holiday prep this year. Quite a few of them have been getting into the spirit all month, and of course we can’t wait for the parade of ugly Christmas sweaters on Instagram. In the meantime, us normals will be putting the finishing touches on some creative holiday decorations and keeping an eye out to see if anyone takes our very practical suggestion on the whole Christmas tree brows thing.
