Jennifer Lawrence Wants to Take an Acting Break and Milk Goats on a Farm

Jennifer Lawrence has starred in 17 movies since her big break in the Oscar-winning Winter’s Bone just seven years ago in 2010—which averages out to a whopping three movies each year! Considering we’re exhausted just reading that, we don’t blame her for saying she’s looking forward to taking a break from work.

In Elle magazine’s November issue, Lawrence got candid about what she intends to do with her time off. Travel the world? Spend time in her native state of Kentucky? Finally binge-watch Stranger Things? Nope, none of those relaxing things are on Lawrence’s list. Rather, she wants to get back to nature—well, in a way.

“I want to get a farm,” she told Elle. “I want to be, like, milking goats.”

Lawrence, who was the world’s highest paid actress in 2016, has indeed cleared off her slate a bit. According to IMDb, she’s wrapped Red Sparrow, a thriller directed by Hunger Games franchise director Francis Lawrence, and the next X-Men installment (reportedly her last). Once the press for those is over, the only other project she’s announced is Bad Blood, a biopic of the life of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes—though there’s no date attached to it yet.

She also spoke on the Today Show in September about wanting to take a break from acting—though her plans then were for pottery, not milking goats (both sound kind of relaxing, TBH). However, she admitted that she doesn’t like taking time off.

“I’m taking one [a break]. I don’t have anything set for two years. I don’t know [what to do]. I don’t know, start making pots? I think I’m just taking a little break. I’ll see you in six months,” Lawrence joked.

Other plans for her break? She’s focusing on political activism through grassroots anti-corruption nonprofit, Represent.Us—and, more than likely, spending a little time on the couch keeping up with the Kardashians.

Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky Reportedly Broke Up Last Month

Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky are a couple no more. Multiple outlets confirmed Wednesday morning that the duo have reportedly broken up after a little more than a year of dating.

According to Entertainment Tonight, sources said the pair actually broke up last month, but that it was an amicable split and Lawrence and Aronofsky are still friendly. Case in point: Another source told ET that the former couple attended the Governors Awards in Los Angeles earlier this month, post-breakup, but still sat together. “It’s not awkward,” the source said.

J.Law and the Black Swan director met on the set of the psychological thriller Mother! and reportedly started dating in September 2016, after the movie had wrapped. Although they were spotted grabbing dinner together multiple times and were even photographed making out on the sidewalk in New York City, they kept their lips zipped about the relationship for months.

Lawrence finally confirmed their romance in the September 2017 issue of Vogue. “We had energy,” she said of how they started dating. “I had energy for him. I don’t know how he felt about me.” She continued, “I’ve been in relationships before where I am just confused. And I’m never confused with him.” The Oscar winner also praised Darren’s low-key vibe and aversion to the spotlight. “I normally don’t like Harvard people, because they can’t go two minutes without mentioning that they went to Harvard,” she said. “He’s not like that.”

Aronofsky also praised Jen’s talent in the Vogue story. “It’s such a raw, natural talent she has,” he said. “I always kind of compare her to Michael Jordan.”

Although it’s unclear why Lawrence, 27, and Aronofsky, 48, broke up, that same Vogue interview revealed something of a disconnect between the pair on an incredibly important topic: the Kardashians. Lawrence, of course, is a noted KUWTK superfan and has even hung out with reality TV’s royal family several (hilarious) times, while Aronofsky seems to be less of a Kim K stan than his ex. For example, of the “Kardashian tent” that the Mother! crew constructed on the movie set as a place for J.Law to go and calm down between takes of the intense film, Aronofsky said, “I wasn’t involved in that. I was like, ‘What are you talking about, the Kardashians?'” Lawrence added, “He just finds it so vastly disappointing.”

Not saying that her reality-TV obsession is why Lawrence and Aronofsky split up, but honestly, it wouldn’t be the worst reason to end a relationship.

Jennifer Lawrence Says Her Job Was 'Threatened' After She Stuck Up for Herself Against a Director

Jennifer Lawrence has had it with the “difficult” moniker placed on women who choose to speak their mind.

The actress shared her views on what she sees as an unfair double standard placed on women when she spoke as part of The Hollywood Reporter‘s annual Actress Roundtable alongside Allison Janney, Mary J. Blige, Emma Stone, and Saoirse Ronan.

During the wide-ranging discussion, the women spoke at length about the current climate of sexual harassment in Hollywood, but noted that even with all of the women coming forward to share their #MeToo stories there are still more who are staying silent out of fear of being labeled and losing out on future work.

“We have to recognize that there are so many who haven’t told their stories yet, who aren’t comfortable to share,” Stone said. “I feel so much compassion for those who are still getting up and going to work every day with their abuser or have had abuse in their past and who are not ready to say anything.” Stone added that it’s equally unfair that women are also feeling the pressure to come forward with their stories of assault and misconduct because, “If you’re not saying it now, then you’re complicit in this evil that’s occurring.”

Lawrence, replying to Stone’s comments, said you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t when it comes to standing against misconduct. “I finally made the decision to stand up for myself, and then I went to go to the bathroom at work and one of the producers stopped me and was like, ‘You know, we can hear you on the microphone, you’ve been really unruly,'” she said. “Which was not true, but basically my job was threatened because the director said something fucked up to me and I said, ‘That’s sick, you can’t talk to me like that,’ and then I was punished, and I got afraid that I wasn’t going to be hired again.”

Stone added that actions like that will get you labeled as “difficult,” to which Lawrence agreed, explaining that she too has become known as “difficult” and “a nightmare” simply for protecting herself at work. “I think a lot of people aren’t coming forward because they’re afraid they’re not going to work again,” she said. “You need to be able to say, ‘This is wrong’ and have somebody do something about it instead of saying, ‘Oh, it’s wrong? Well, you’re fired.'”

Lawrence is well aware that Hollywood isn’t in a bubble when it comes to the way women are treated in the workforce. However, she does see an opportunity as a high-profile actress to make change in not only entertainment but for all women everywhere. “We’re in the industry, everybody is looking at us,” she said. “If we’re going through this, every woman in the world is going through this.”

Jennifer Lawrence Hilariously Photobombed Emma Stone on the Red Carpet

Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are two of Hollywood’s purest friends. Ever since Stone texted J-Law and she responded “F-ck off!” they’ve been inseparable. (This is how all of us start friendships, right?) At the Governors Awards in Hollywood on Saturday, Lawrence exhibited another unique display of best-friendship by jumping into Stone’s red carpet photos, resulting in some adorably hilarious pictures.

Lawrence wore a black, floral embroidered Alexander McQueen crop top and long skirt, while Stone had on a sleek white buckled Louis Vuitton dress. But despite their sophisticated dresses, they got silly in their photos, where they’re laughing, dancing, and hugging—antics you don’t normally see on the red carpet. Or rather, J-Law is, while Stone contemplates where she should join in or strike a serious red-carpet pose.

“I love Emma,” Lawrence told Glamour for her February 2016 cover interview. “She cracks me up; she’s so ‘theater.’ She’s so adorable.”

This isn’t the first time the two have entertained us by bucking convention at industry events. During the Toronto International Film Festival in September, J-Law caught Stone off-guard by moving in to hug her when she wasn’t expecting it, eliciting a half-hearted back-pat on her part. But don’t be fooled by their awkwardness—they’re closer than ever.

Jennifer Lawrence Wore a Wedding Gown to the Premiere of 'Faces Places'

PHOTO: Kevin Winter/Getty Images

Jennifer Lawrence seems to have gone wedding-dress shopping recently. At the very least, the Mother! actress has apparently been keeping up with the latest bridal collections, as she turned up to the premiere of Faces Places wearing a look fresh from the aisle.

The L. Wells Bridal gown that J.Law wore, with its low neckline and lace flutter sleeves, would be perfect for a late-summer wedding. The actress paired it with layered necklaces, metallic nails, a pink-red lip, and messy, undone waves. Add a flower crown and a bouquet, and Lawrence could head straight from the red carpet to the alter. (If that’s what she wanted, of course.)

Naturally, this hasn’t quieted the engagement rumors floating around about Jennifer Lawrence and her current boyfriend (and Mother! director) Darren Aronofsky. At the end of last year, the actress was spotted wearing a ring on that finger, though it turned out just to be a gold-and-diamond bauble. Could the fact that Lawrence is clearly on the lookout for white dresses from the bridal department be clues that she’s actually hunting for her very own wedding dress? Too early to tell, especially since she only confirmed her relationship with Aronofsky last month.

If Lawrence is set to tie the knot IRL anytime soon, you can bet that there won’t be any bridesmaids or groomsmen. She told Vanity Fair that after serving her bridesmaid duties four times, she was done with the entire ritual and “that part of her life is over.” She even pitched an idea for a bridesmaid union (10/10 would join). When specifically asked about her own nuptials, she said she’d skip a bridal party all together. “How can I rank my friends?”

Jennifer Lawrence Has a Simple Message for Mother!'s Critics

PHOTO: Robin Marchant/The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences/Getty Images

Jennifer Lawrence‘s new movie, Mother!, isn’t getting the love she probably thinks it deserves. The film received an F from CinemaScore], and reviews are split — though the negative ones are pretty scathing. But negative buzz won’t stop J.Law from being J.Law, as evidenced by her reaction to the audience at an Academy screening of the movie earlier this week.

So, basically, the actress held up her middle finger while recounting a tale from filming during a Q&A portion of the screening at the Museum of Modern Art on Thursday, according to People, as if to say, “I don’t care what you think,” or “You’re totally missing the point,” or maybe, “It doesn’t matter what you say about the movie, I’m Jennifer Lawrence, I’ve got my Oscar, I’ve got my money, and no amount of green tomato splats can change that.” Meanwhile, Darren Aronofsky, the film’s director and Lawrence’s boyfriend, simply giggled from the seat beside her. That pretty much says it all, if you ask us.

The film features Lawrence’s titular Mother character dealing with unexpected house guests, a husband who seems more than a little creepy, and other truly terrifying surprises that delve into spoiler territory (but are every bit as disturbing as the ones found in Certified Fresh It).

Lawrence has confessed she isn’t totally on board with how reluctant Aronofsky was about revealing any details of the film to prospective audience members before they showed up at the theaters. “He wants people to go in blind,” she said, according to a New York Times profile. “You’re going to miss all of the detail and all of the brilliance behind the whole movie. My advice is to understand the allegory.”

Maybe later audiences, more likely to pick up spoilers as time goes by, will have a more favorable opinion of the film. Or maybe Lawrence will continue to feel the need to flip audiences off.
