Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian Hosted a Mini Olympics From Their Home

Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, have found a fantastic way to keep themselves (and us!) entertained as they isolate at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

With athletic events on hold for the foreseeable future, Williams appears to have found a great outlet for her fiercely competitive nature: a toy gymnastics set where you can simulate rotations on a horizontal bar and try to stick the dismount. The couple uploaded a video of themselves playing with it, which was made even better by the “Chariots of Fire” theme music playing in the background and Ohanian’s brilliant Olympics-style commentary.

As Williams pushes the button that makes the plastic figure spin around the bars, we hear Ohanian whisper-talking, in that perfect sportscaster way, comments like “The U.S. Olympic team has really fallen off since Simone Biles left and was replaced by this,” and “Quite the terrible dismount, probably broke a few bones on that,” as Williams’s toy fails to stick the landing.

But then…VICTORY! Just as Ohanian calls the performance “amateurish,” the GOAT gets it done, and they both go crazy cheering, as daughter Olympia looks on in the background. “Accomplished a lot with @serenawilliams this weekend… @simonebiles please help her,” he wrote in the Instagram caption.

Reader: I cheered too—and wished I had that toy in my apartment. As a huge sports fan, I’ve definitely missed watching games and matches on TV—and this little moment briefly filled the void. Also, how unsurprising is it that it didn’t take Williams long to completely dominate a toy sport? She is truly the best. I was not alone, as people chimed in with comments like, “I needed this during quarantine,” and, “LMAO what am I watching and why can’t I stop. Riveting ???.”

The Tokyo Olympics may be postponed until July 2021, but let’s hope the competition at Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian’s house is just getting started.

How to Remove Gel Nail Polish at Home

Step 5: Begin gently removing gel.

Use your cuticle pusher to gently (key word: gently) scrape the gel off your nails. “If there’s any resistance, place your fingertips back into the acetone for another minute or two and then try again,” says Hanna. “Repeat this process until the gel is completely removed.”

Step 6: Buff and moisturize nails and cuticles.

Once the gel is completely removed, use a buffer to smooth your nail plate. Generously apply cuticle oil, and massage into your nails to nourish them.

Method 2: Wrap your nails in acetone-soaked cotton and foil.

Nuñez’s preferred method uses a few more materials, but leaves your hands a little more free than the soak method.

Step 1: Gather your materials.

You’ll need cotton rounds or cotton balls, acetone nail polish remover, aluminum foil, a nail file, cuticle oil, a manicuring brush, scissors, and a cuticle stick.

Step 2: Prep the foil and cotton.

Cut your foil into small squares that will fit around the tip of your finger, then cut your cotton pads or balls into pieces that are big enough to cover your entire nail.

Step 3: Break the seal.

Same as the method above, remove the top layer of the gel polish with the nail file, using light pressure. Start with the tip of your nail all the way down, then file the top of your nail, and use the manicuring brush to wipe off excess dust.

Step 4: Apply cotton and foil.

Soak the cotton pads in remover, and then place them on your nails, making sure to cover your entire nail. Wrap the tip of your finger and the cotton pad in foil, and fold over the tip to lock in place. Repeat on all fingers, leave on for 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 5: Remove the polish.

Going nail by nail, rub the foil and cotton back and forth a few times, and gently pull it off. Most of the polish should come with it. Then gently scrape off the rest with the cuticle stick. Repeat for each nail.

Step 6: Clean and nourish.

Wipe away any residue with alcohol and a cotton ball, and then generously apply a nail and cuticle oil.

16 Movies You Won’t Want to Miss This Spring — What to Watch at Home

A new season is here, and you know what that means: warmer weather, gorgeous flowers, and a slate of new movies for spring. Though with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic causing businesses to close around the country and people being told to stay at home as much as possible, a number of theatrical releases like A Quiet Place Part 2, Mulan, and the latest in the Fast and Furious franchise originally scheduled to debut this season have been postponed.

Because of changes to the spring movie lineup, studios are releasing some of their films onto video on demand earlier than expected, to ease some of your self-distancing woes. In fact, you can already rent new theatrical releases like The Hunt, Emma, and The Invisible Man right now.

Of course, there are also plenty of new movies coming to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon at the start of the new season, like Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth and Dangerous Lies with Riverdale‘s Camila Mendes.

Below, check out 16 movies you absolutely can’t miss this spring.

Glamour Is Taking the Pledge to Stay Home. We Hope You'll Join Us

A few weeks ago—maybe even a few days ago—being asked to stay home with not much to do but watch Netflix and cycle through your collection of sweatpants might have sounded pretty good. Fun, even. But that was then, and this now: A new reality we’re grappling with in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The most frightening and frustrating part of this reality is that we’re being urged by lawmakers to remain inside our homes to limit contact with others, even those we love. The mandate isn’t in vain: Staying home is the single most important thing we can do to slow the spread of the Coronavirus and to protect those in our communities who are most vulnerable to it.

An exception to this rule is, of course, health workers, emergency-response personnel, grocery store employees, pharmacists, and others whose essential jobs we depend on. They must go out to perform life-saving tasks, and for that we should all be grateful.

They’re doing their part, and you can do yours: think positively. Be patient but upfront with your children. Read a book. Brainstorm ways to help your local businesses which might be struggling. Take this opportunity to reflect. There will be plenty of time to cheers with your friends in bars, ride the bus, linger over long dinners, and hit the beach for a much-deserved vacation. The future is bright, but the present is challenging.

The good news is that we’re all in this together, so the Glamour team is joining our colleagues at Vogue and taking the pledge to stay calm, to stay safe, and—if you can—to stay home. We hope you’ll do the same.

Share this post and caption it with a ? and your pledge to #StayHome.
