The 'Pitch Perfect' Women Really Have Us Thinking a 4th Movie Is Happening

Here’s some aca-amazing news to brighten up your Monday: Pitch Perfect 4 might be underway. On Sunday (September 30), four of the Barden Bellas—Anna Camp, Chrissie Fit, Brittany Snow, and Rebel Wilson—posted the same cryptic photo to their respective Instagrams. In the photo, the four Bellas pose while holding up four fingers. Wilson, Camp, and Fit all captioned the photo with four hearts, while Snow opted for “4 thumbs down.”

Naturally, fans are freaking out in the comments, with many interpreting the post as confirmation—or at least a hint—that a fourth movie in the popular Pitch Perfect franchise is on the way. Of course, there’s an another explanation for all this: As their Instagrams show, the Bellas were all present for Camp and Skylar Astin’s joint birthday celebration, so maybe the fours were just to show that, well, four of the former cast members have reunited in person.

Still, we’re not prepared to rule out the possibility of a Pitch Perfect 4. Considering the success of the previous three movies, another installment in the franchise is basically a no-brainer. And although screenwriter Kay Cannon told E! in April that Pitch Perfect 3 was the “end of the Bellas as we know them,” Anna Kendrick said she’d totally be down to reprise her role as Beca Mitchell for a fourth time. “Hell yeah!” she told Entertainment Weekly in August. “We’d do them forever.”

Kendrick isn’t the only Pitch Perfect star who’d want to return. Just last week Snow told Extra TV that “all of us would be game for it.” “We have the best time filming those movies. We made some of our best friends during that franchise,” she told the publication. “Part of us knows that chapter might be closed and is OK with that, but we are still incredibly close and we will probably make them—if they want us to—until the end of time.”

The *Veronica Mars* Revival Is Officially Happening

Kristen Bell now has two good places to call home on the small screen. After being teased for way too many years, a Veronica Mars revival has officially been confirmed and picked up by Hulu for an eight-episode season.

According to a press release, the season will air sometime in 2019, with Hulu also acquiring the entire series and the one-off film for its streaming service.

“The new season will once again delve into the class divide in Neptune, California, that ran throughout the original series. Spring breakers are being murdered, imperiling Neptune’s tourist industry,” the release states, ever so eerily. “The family of one victim hires Mars Investigations to find their son’s killer, and Veronica is drawn into a mystery that pits the town’s wealthy ’09ers,’ who’d just as soon see the spring break crowd go away, and working-class residents who rely on the money spring break partiers spend.”

Bell, who’s the only returning cast member confirmed at the moment besides the show’s creator, Rob Thomas, excitedly tweeted the “BREAKING NEWS” this afternoon. “Thank you to all the marshmallows for staying excited and to Hulu for giving Veronica a chance to wear her big girl pants,” she wrote. “I hope we’re still friends after I taser you.”

Any Veronica Mars fan could tell you how a proper revival of the show has been a long time coming since its original run ended more than a decade ago on the CW, especially after the divisive reception of the crowd-funded 2014 film. But if our titular heroine taught us anything, it’s that she knows how to battle her way back into our hearts.

A 'Downton Abbey Movie' Is Happening With the Original Cast

Great news for those of you who never fully recovered from Downton Abbey ending two years ago: It’s coming back, officially. On Friday, Focus Features announced in a press release that the beloved PBS series is getting a revival on the big screen.

Even better news? The original cast is returning. (Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Maggie Smith, and Joanne Froggatt have all signed on.) And to top it all off, we’ll be getting it sooner than we think. According to the press release, production begins later this summer.

While there aren’t any details about the actual plot, we’re bound to get another hour and a half of priceless Dowager Countess snark, gorgeous Edwardian gowns, and Crawley family drama. The screenplay is by creator Julian Fellowes (who’s also producing), the director is Brian Percival, who directed the pilot, and executive producer Nigel Marchant is coming back as well.

“When the television series drew to a close, it was our dream to bring the millions of global fans a movie, and now, after getting many stars aligned, we are shortly to go into production,” said producer Gareth Neame, Carnival Films’s executive chairman, in the press release. “Julian’s script charms, thrills, and entertains, and in Brian Percival’s hands we aim to deliver everything that one would hope for as Downton comes to the big screen.”

It looks like the cast is just as hyped as the fans. Dockery, Bonneville, and Froggatt have all posted on Instagram about the news.

“The secret’s out… Thrilled to announce that #DowntonAbbey is coming to the big screen. Filming to commence this summer @downtonabbey_official,” Dockery posted on Instagram with a picture of her and costar Laura Carmichael, while Froggatt opted for a picture of her and Dockery laughing in character, writing, “Are you as excited as us about the Downton movie?! #itsofficial #downtonabbey.”

Meanwhile, Bonneville appeared to hint at a release date. Uploading a promotional pic for the film, he simply wrote, “2019 #DowntonAbbey.”

Now Mel B Says a Spice Girls Reunion Is Actually Happening

The world may finally be getting what it wants (what it really, really wants): a Spice Girls reunion. The long-awaited and oft-rumored reunion officially got confirmation from an actual Spice Girl this week. Mel B (a.k.a Scary Spice) sat down with Hoda Kotb on Wednesday’s episode of the Today show to spill all the details on the ultimate ’90s reunion.

“I’m the only one that keeps on saying we’re going to be performing, which, we are gonna be performing,” she said. “Finally, they’ve got it together. Yes.” And before you ask, Mel B will not stand for Victoria Beckham’s claims that the tour is never going to happen. “She’s always saying that. Stop it,” she said when Kotb brought up Posh Spice’s potential obstacle. “We are touring. Should I have really said that out loud? Yes, we are going to be doing performances together for sure.”

Take this news with a grain of salt, though, since Mel B has previously gotten our hopes up for a reunion tour that never came true. Last year, she heavily hinted that the group would be performing at the royal wedding, but those plans never materialized. “I got divorced and I had to go to court,” she told Kotb this week in an explanation as to why the performance didn’t happen. “Real-life problems.”

Watch her explain this for yourself, below:

In addition to fanning the reunion tour rumor flames, Mel B also shared some pretty special Spice Girls history tidbits with Today‘s viewers, including the squad’s origin story. Apparently, the five women met on the audition circuit and eventually decided to band together — literally. “We all knew each other from the scene, and we were all kind of friends and we’re all so different, we just blended, just like a jigsaw puzzle that just worked,” Mel B said. After struggling to hit the big time as a band, they finally struck gold with 1996’s “Wannabe,” after Mel B wrote the song’s iconic rap verse while she was “in the loo.” “Maybe I did a little tinkle while I was writing,” she joked.

And as for where the Baby, Posh, Scary, Sporty, and Ginger Spice monikers came from? “We never decided the names ourselves, probably it was a lazy journalist who couldn’t remember our names,” said Mel B.

A 'Roseanne' Spinoff Without Roseanne Barr Is Officially Happening

The Roseanne revival may have had incredibly high ratings when it debuted, but the show was still cancelled in May after star Roseanne Barr tweeted racist statements about Valerie Jarrett, a former Barack Obama aide. At the time of the cancellation, the president of ABC Entertainment wrote in a statement: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.” Now, just a few weeks later, ABC has found a way to continue the show without its lead.

An official statement from Tom Werner, executive producer, and Barr, confirms that the show will be spun off to no longer include it’s namesake character nor the actress’s financial or creative participation. “I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from Roseanne. I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved” said Barr in the statement. Werner added, “We are grateful to have reached this agreement to keep our team working as we continue to explore stories of the Conner family.” Original stars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, and Michael Fishman will reportedly all return for the spinoff. Barr will, however, retain an executive producer credit on the spinoff, per Writers Guild of America rules.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the spinoff’s working title is The Conners and has been ordered for 10 episodes. The new show, which is expected to premiere in the fall, will follow the Conner family who, “after a sudden turn of events, are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before” and will explore issues with parenthood, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Though Barr will not be involved in The Conners in any way, she will reportedly retain all rights to the Roseanne Conner character and any future spinoffs or reboots of the original.

“We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience,” Goodman, Metcalf, Gilbert, Goranson, and Fishman said in a joint statement. “We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”
