Watch the Trailer for Noah Centineo and Camila Mendes' Netflix Rom-Com The Perfect Date

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before alum Noah Centineo is already the Internet’s boyfriend, so his next role isn’t too much of a stretch given that it’s literally called The Perfect Date. In it, he plays a guy who gets paid to be a dream date for young women—so, yeah, the casting decision couldn’t have been better.

The trailer, which Netflix just released today, only adds to the appeal. It introduces us to Centineo as Brooks Rattigan, a high school senior who hopes to attend Yale but doesn’t have the money for the expensive tuition. “I’ve always wanted to date the most popular girl, drive the nicest car and go to the fanciest school. But I can’t afford any of that,” he says in the clip.

To get some extra cash, he ends up escorting Celia Lieberman (played by Laura Marano) to a school dance. It goes so well that it inspires a plan: create an app where people can pay him to be their plus-one at events. His job is to take on the role of whatever stand-in boyfriend they need for the occasion. In the trailer alone, he pretends to be a cowboy, an art connoisseur, and more.

Because this is a romantic comedy, of course things eventually get knotty. Rattigan starts dating his crush Shelby Pace—played by Riverdale favorite Camila Mendes—and starts living out some rich kid fantasies that distance him from his friends. Naturally, there’s a tricky love triangle with Shelby and Celia to deal with too. (Fun fact: Marano and Centineo actually worked with each other on Austin & Ally back in the day.)

Centineo, of course, brings all the Peter Kavinsky charm that made him a breakout star in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (and, hopefully one day soon, the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel).

The Perfect Date is out on April 12 on Netflix, so mark your calendars and prepare to swoon.

Noah Centineo Is Starring in Another Netflix Rom-Com—With a *Riverdale* Star

If you thought 2018 was the year of the rom-com, just wait. Netflix announced on Friday (January 11) that Noah Centineo is starring in his third romantic comedy for the streaming platform—alongside, wait for it, Riverdale star Camila Mendes.

The movie is called The Perfect Date and, according to IMDB, it centers on a high school senior (Centineo) who launches a dating app wherein he becomes a stand-in boyfriend for people upon request. Laura Marano, who you probably know from Austin & Ally, also stars with Mendes and Centineo.

“Very Important Announcement Alert? @ncentineo will pretend to be your boyfriend this summer! Well, he will in the Netflix original movie The Perfect Date w/ @camimendes and @lauramarano,” Netflix posted to Instagram alongside two stills from the movie feature Mendes, Marano, and Centineo.

Summer isn’t that far away, right? Check out Netflix’s post for yourself, below:

Marano regrammed Netflix’s post, writing, “So excited to finally talk about this!!! See you guys in the summer.”

Netflix was largely responsible for bringing back the rom-com in 2018 with its slate of summer movies, which included The Kissing Booth, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser. Centineo emerged as a breakout star from both Sierra Burgess and To All the Boys, and was quickly dubbed the Internet’s boyfriend by, well, the Internet. He’s also set to appear in the Charlie’s Angels reboot later this year, starring Kristen Stewart and directed by Elizabeth Banks.

Here’s hoping The Perfect Date is just one of many romantic comedies Netflix has in store for us this year.

Your Boyfriend Noah Centineo Just Got a Part in a Huge Movie

Noah Centineo is finally ready to make the transition to the big screen. After a busy summer that included star-making turns in the back-to-back Netflix rom-coms To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, Centineo has signed on to Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot, Variety reports.

Centineo will join the previously announced trio of Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balins, who are set to play the titular Angels, while Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou will star as two of the Bosleys. Elizabeth Banks, who will also direct the film, will play the third Bosley.

Jenny Han, author of the To All the Boys novel, tweeted a congrats to Centineo shortly after the news broke.

Fans of the original series, which took the world by storm in the 1970s, will likely point out that there was originally just one Bosley, the enigmatic head of the show’s fictional detective agency. That the film will have three Bosleys instead of one will likely be just one of the many changes being made, as the studio looks to usher in the Angels for a whole new generation of fans.

That’s exactly why adding someone like Centineo is a huge step in the right direction; he will reportedly play a love interest of one of the Angels. Not much else is known about the plot, other than that it will center on the three Angels as they work for the Townsend Agency, which has “expanded globally,” The Wrap reports.

As for Centineo, expect this to be the first real entry into his new career as a major movie star. In fact, he may have hinted at the project in a recent interview with Esquire. “There’s one specific script out now that I want to do. It’s f*cking incredible,” Centineo said. “It’s a romantic comedy action film. It’s just so perfect. So great — oh, my God.” The film he was referring to was reportedly a Sony project, which just so happens to be the same studio behind the Charlie’s Angels reboot. Does this mean we’re about to get our first look at Peter Kavinsky: Action Hero?

We’ll find out, when Charlie’s Angels hits theaters on September 27, 2019.

Watch Noah Centineo Give the Most Charming Advice to Strangers on the Internet

It truly has been the summer of Noah Centineo. The 22-year-old actor first stole hearts in the Netflix original rom-com To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, based on the bestselling novel by Jenny Han. Lightning struck twice with the movie he did with Shannon Purser, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, which dropped a month later on the streaming platform. He’s been known as the “Internet’s boyfriend” ever since—a title that grows with every video and profile that comes out about him.

And the video Glamour just shot with Centineo is no exception. We had him stop by our offices a few weeks back and give advice to strangers on Twitter. The result was nothing less than charming, of course.

“I have absolutely no grounds to be giving anyone advice on anything,” Centineo says at the top of the video, before giving some actually age advice to the thankful people of Twitter.

What does he say to someone who wants to know how to ask a guy for his number without “failing miserably?” “You’re probably ‘gonna fail miserably, but most best things happen out of failure.” Pulitzer!

Or how about his tips on getting over heartbreak? “Really focus on yourself. Rediscover yourself. Do things that you like.” Nobel Peace Prize!

And last, but not least, his tips about managing stress: “I don’t. I’m super stressed. I’m super overwhelmed. And there’s nothing I can do except just pretend that I’m really happy.” Oscars, Oscars, and more Oscars!

Watch Centineo give more life advice in the video, above. You can go back to marathoning To All the Boys as soon as you’re done.

Shannon Purser 'Lightly Stalked' Noah Centineo Before Working With Him

Shannon Purser and the Internet’s boyfriend Noah Centineo are the stars of Netflix’s new rom-com Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, a flawed-but-touching re-telling of Cyrano de Bergerac set in a suburban high school. Purser plays the titular character, a bullied teenager whose phone number is given to hot jock Jamey (Centineo) in a prank orchestrated by mean girl Veronica (Kristine Froseth). The catch, though, is Jamey thinks he’s texting Veronica the entire time, and Sierra does nothing to make him think otherwise—she’s too afraid that he won’t like who she actually is. Granted, it’s a little frustrating that Sierra spends so much time in this movie hiding behind a cheerleader, but the ultimate result is positive. The movie is also just delightful and charming and, at times, very, very funny.

That’s no doubt a product of the dynamic chemistry behind Centineo and Purser, who spend a majority of the movie talking behind screens but still have sparks. In a new interview with Glamour, the two young stars dish about how they met each other and got in the mindsets to film Sierra Burgess.

“I did not know who Noah was before we met,” Purser told us. “I’m pretty sure I did some, like, light stalking and watched a little bit of him on The Fosters.”

Interestingly, Centineo says he watched Stranger Things (in which Purser plays fan-favorite Barb) up until her character died. “I was like, ‘No Barb? No me,'” he said.

Purser and Centineo crossed paths IRL for the first time for a Sierra Burgess screen test, and then had lunch together at a cafeteria to learn more about each other. “[You probably ate] salad or something,” Purser told Centineo, to which he replied, “I was not that healthy back then, OK?”

Watch these two divulge more details in the video, above.

Reminder: Noah Centineo Will Be in Netflix Rom-Com 'Sierra Burgess Is a Loser'

If you’re one of the zillion people completely captivated by Noah Centineo from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, I have some very exciting news: The 22-year-old and his perfectly-coiffed hair will be starring in another Netflix rom-com that premieres next week called Sierra Burgess Is a Loser.

Shannon Purser (a.k.a Barb!) stars as the titular character, a whip-smart member of the marching band who’s teased by a popular girl named Veronica (Kristine Froseth). Somehow, hot jock Jamey (Centineo) gets Sierra’s number, and they start a relationship over text. The twist, though, is that Jamey thinks he’s actually chatting with Veronica. So Sierra does what any normal teen would do in this situation: rope Veronica into a full-on Cyrano de Bergerac scheme to keep her identity hidden from Jamey for as long as possible. Ya know, normal adolescent shenanigans.

At first, it feels a little disappointing to see Purser play a character so afraid a guy won’t like the real her that she hides behind a cheerleader—but Sierra Burgess tackles the issue of self-identity with poignancy and empathy. “Do you have any idea what it’s like to be a teenage girl and to look like this?” Sierra says at one point, tears streaming down her face. It’s a gut-wrenching moment that will hit close to home for anyone who struggled with confidence in high school, or even now.

As for Centineo’s character, Jamey, he’s just as tall and charming and smiley as he was in To All the Boys, so rest easy. The film also has a distinct eighties vibe that harkens back to the classic rom-com days of Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles. Lindsey Beer, who wrote the screenplay for Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, says that isn’t a coincidence.

“I wanted it to feel like a little bit of an ode to those eighties movies the same way Stranger Things is an ode to eighties movies: something that drew from the strength of the template of those movies but obviously goes beyond it with a modern twist,” Beer tells Glamour. “The emphasis of the love story really being on the women—the friendship love—as opposed to romantic love.”

She also assures Glamour that Sierra is the hero of this film—even though at first it may seem like she’s hiding behind Veronica. “I was really excited to write a character—in a movie that was down to a much more human level—where just kind of by virtue of being herself and fighting for the ability to just be yourself, that feels heroic to me,” she says.

Sierra Burgess Is a Loser arrives on Netflix September 7.
