Carrie Underwood Just Got Real About Pregnancy Insomnia on Twitter


Sleeping while pregnant isn’t easy—just ask the 78 percent of moms-to-be in the United States who experience pregnancy insomnia. Carrie Underwood just revealed that she’s currently dealing with pregnancy insomnia in a series of tweets—and they’re nothing short of relatable.

On Friday (December 21), Underwood was up early with a Twitter letter to her pregnancy insomnia. She was rightfully annoyed with the sleep she’s lost while carrying her second child. “Dear pregnancy insomnia,” she wrote in a tweet published at 1:29 A.M. EST. “Please go bother someone else…like dads. Go bother dads. My husband sleeps so soundly and peacefully and I’ve been awake for 2 hours (so far). How is this fair? Imma lose my mind!”

Fellow moms and moms-to-be on Twitter chimed in with their own stories about pregnancy insomnia and their support for the singer. As if carrying a baby for nine months weren’t hard enough, several women also shared that they also lost sleep during their pregnancies.

Underwood followed up on her original tweet with an update sharing a little sleep-deprivation-induced behavior. While she couldn’t sleep, she went on an online beauty product shopping spree—with a grand total of around $600. (In her defense, there’s a lot of great holiday gift sets at Sephora right now.)

Fellow country singer Maren Morris could relate.

Underwood is currently expecting her second child with husband Mark Fisher, which she revealed the pregnancy in a video on her Instagram account earlier this year. Difficulties like pregnancy insomnia aside, Underwood said in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning that the family is excited to welcome its newest member—especially her 2-year-old son, Isaiah. “He’ll be really sweet and talk to my belly and kiss my belly. He’s the sweetest little boy,” she said. “But no kid can really know that their life is going to change…. He’ll have to share Mommy.”

2018 AMAs: Carrie Underwood Gives Emotional Performance of "Spinning Bottles"


On Tuesday, Carrie Underwood took the stage at the 2018 American Music Awards at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater, her growing baby bump on full display, to perform “Spinning Bottles” off her new album Cry Pretty. The performance came shortly after Underwood took home her sixth Best Country Female Artist trophy.

During her emotional performance, Underwood stood on a small, round stage that turned slowly and was lined with tall candles stuck in colored glass bottles—in other words, her performance of “Spinning Bottles” was surrounded by literal spinning bottles. Accompanied only by a piano and some strings, the country star wore a simple, floaty burgundy gown with cold-shoulder long sleeves and an empire waist.

Underwood gave fans a sneak peek at her AMAs’ plans on Sunday, when she shared a photo on Instagram from her rehearsals for the performance. In the accompanying caption, she revealed via hashtag that she’d be performing “Spinning Bottles”—her first live performance of the song since her Cry Pretty album dropped in September.

The 35-year-old, who’s already mom to 3-year-old son Isaiah with husband Mike Fisher, announced in August that she was expecting their second child. “Mike, Isaiah, and I are absolutely over the moon and excited to be adding another fish to our pond,” Underwood said in a social media post at the time. “This has been a dream come true with the album and baby news. We’re just so excited and glad you guys can share this with us and be a part of this with us. Love you guys. We will see you on the road in 2019!”

Now all that’s left to do is prep Isaiah on becoming a big brother. “He’ll be really sweet and talk to my belly and kiss my belly. He’s the sweetest little boy,” she said. “But no kid can really know that their life is going to change. He’ll have to share Mommy!”

Carrie Underwood Powerfully Opens Up About Struggling With Multiple Miscarriages


Carrie Underwood is currently expecting her second child with her husband, hockey player Mike Fisher. However, in an candid interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the country music star opened up about the complications she faced before her most recent pregnancy, revealing that she suffered three miscarriages over the last two years.

In the emotional interview with Tracy Smith, Underwood tearfully explained why 2017 “just wasn’t how I imagined it.”

“I’d kind of planned that 2017 was going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby. We got pregnant in early 2017, and [it] didn’t work out,” she said in the interview, tearing up.

She continued later, “In the beginning it was like, ‘Okay, God, we know this is, just wasn’t Your timing. And that is all right. We will bounce back and figure our way through it.’ And got pregnant again in the spring, and it didn’t work out. Got pregnant again, early 2018. Didn’t work out. So, at that point, it was just kind of like, ‘OK, like, what’s the deal? What is all of this?'”

Underwood went into detail about how hard it was to have to be in the spotlight and smile for cameras despite what she was going through, but added that it was “therapeutic” to put some of the feelings into writing on her new album, Cry Pretty.

The singer also explained that one of the biggest difficulties was grappling with the anger that came with her miscarriages. “I had always been afraid to be angry because we are so blessed,” she said. “And my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world. And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s OK, because he’s amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No. And I got mad.”

Underwood said that when she thought she was having her fourth miscarriage, she prayed intently and found comfort through her relationship to God. “I was like, ‘Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door, or let me have a kid.’ And for the first time, I feel like I actually I told God how I felt. And I feel, like, we’re supposed to do that. That was like a Saturday—and the Monday I went to the doctor to, like, confirm, another miscarriage. And they told me everything was great!”

It’s not the first time Underwood had talked about her struggles with pregnancy and fertility: She’d shared that she thought she had missed her window to have more kids at age 35 in an interview with Redbook, which drew some criticism from the parenting community.

Despite her fears of missing her window, she’s now getting awaiting for the arrival of the new baby—and she’s not the only one who’s excited. She said of her oldest son Isaiah, “He’ll be really sweet and talk to my belly and kiss my belly. He’s the sweetest little boy. But no kid can really know that their life is going to change… He’ll have to share Mommy.”

Carrie Underwood Recently Canceled Two Shows Because She Was So Sick She ‘Couldn’t Stand’


Last week, Carrie Underwood fans in the U.K. found themselves wishing her a speedy recovery after she canceled two performances due to an unspecified “illness.” According to People, Underwood’s record label made the announcement on Facebook, revealing that the singer would no longer be performing at the Long Road Festival or Radio 2 Live at Hyde Park over the weekend.

This week, Underwood shed some light on the health condition that led to her last-minute cancellations. “I don’t cancel shows. Like, I will drag myself on the stage and perform if I have the flu, or whatever,” she told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Thursday night (September 13). “In the U.K., we had to cancel a couple shows. Basically, I got, like, a viral thing, and I woke up, I had vertigo, and I could not stand up, and it was crazy.”

“I ended up in a German hospital for three days,” she added. “They were so sweet and so nice. And we were, like, in our rooms, like, trying to learn German and trying to communicate with the people….I learned one phrase. ‘Kein fleisch, bitte’—’No meat, please.’ I don’t eat meat, so they would come in—that’s all I learned. That’s all I got.”

A few months ago, Underwood revealed she had seriously injured herself in a fall last November, requiring 40 to 50 facial stitches and metal screws in her broken wrist.. “I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful. I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse,” she wrote in a blog post at the time. “And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way…. It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.”

After spending several months in recovery, Underwood returned to the stage in April with a triumphant performance of her new song “Cry Pretty” at the Academy of Country Music Awards, receiving a long standing ovation and later winning Vocal Event of the Year with Keith Urban.

Carrie Underwood Is Expecting Her Second Child


The Underwoods are rounding up to an even number.

Carrie Underwood, American Idol alumna and country music sensation, has just revealed she’s expecting her second child with her hockey player husband Mike Fisher. The new addition to the family will join Underwood and Fisher’s two-year-old son, Isaiah. “Mike, Isaiah, and I are absolutely over the moon and excited to be adding another fish to our pond,” Underwood revealed on social media Wednesday morning. “This has been a dream come true with the album and baby news. We’re just so excited and glad you guys can share this with us and be a part of this with us. Love you guys. We will see you on the road in 2019!” As Us Weekly notes, Underwood didn’t indicate how far along she in her pregnancy, and didn’t reveal if she’s expecting a girl or boy. However, she’ll be delaying her pre-announced Cry Baby 360 tour until May for the sake of her pregnancy.

Underwood and Fisher have been married for just over eight years, tying the knot at a Georgia plantation with the help of a gorgeous, custom-designed Monique Lhuillier gown (and lots of pink decorations). Upon the birth of her son six years later, Underwood was very forthcoming about the issues she faced during pregnancy. “I remember when we first found out we were gonna have him, it [was] like, ‘How are we gonna do this? Our lives are so crazy as it is,’” she told People at the time. “But you just make room and you learn how important that family time is, and to be able to spend time and carve out some of that and maybe get to go on vacation and maybe get to go on a cruise—that stuff is so important to, like I said, make time for family. That’s what it’s all about.”

Carrie Underwood Is Catching Heat For Her Latest Comments About Fertility


Carrie Underwood recently made some comments about fertility that have ruffled some feathers in the parenting community. The former American Idol winner revealed to Redbook that at age 35, she’s worried about being able to naturally have more children. (She and husband Mike Fisher currently have one child: a son named Isaiah.)

“I’m 35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family. We always talk about adoption and about doing it when our child or children are a little older,” Underwood told the magazine. The seven-time Grammy Award winner also mentioned how lucky she and her family feel to be part of various organizations that help children because, “Our focus right now in our lives is helping as many kids as possible.”

Following the story’s release, parents took to Facebook to express their thoughts on Underwood’s comment about her age and chances of having more children. “I’m 38 and just had a baby . . . she’s being ridiculous,” wrote one Facebook commenter, according to Us Weekly. “You do know that everyone’s body is different, right?” commented another.

Redbook also asked the star about her recent facial injury and the plastic surgery rumors surrounding it. “I try not to worry too much about it,” she said. “My mom will be like, ‘Did you see they are saying this about you?’ And I’ll be like, ‘Mama, I don’t care. I’m just trying to raise my son and live my life.'”

She continued, “It’s a little sad, because the truth is just as interesting. I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this [scar] look better.”
