Chris Harrison Reveals the Real Reason Why Hannah Is Keeping Luke P. Around on The Bachelorette


When you mention his conservative ways, what does that mean exactly?

Chris: Well, Hannah’s a really religious woman, and I understand Hannah because I’m from the South. I grew up in the Bible Belt, and so I get that. I’m a faith-driven person as well. I understand where she’s coming from. She’s also very conservative, and her faith is very near and dear to her. And she has that connection with Luke P. She’s had it from the start. They talk about religion. They talk about their value. They talk about the Scripture. They talk about their favorite verses, and they connect on that level. She doesn’t really have that with any of the other guys. Ironically, it’s also what will drive her crazy about him because as much as it brings them together, it will also create a divide that they will battle over, and that’s the interesting thing about religion. I think that’s something we’re all going to debate: that religion is something that should bring us together, but at the same time history tells us it creates a lot of wars. And it will maybe create a big war between these two.

Would you like to see religion discussed more on the show?

Chris: It really depends season to season. I like that we’ve taken this dive into this season because it is a central part of it. We will show Luke P. going to church in Scotland and praying and getting some alone time. It’s a huge part of his life, and it really drives him. And it’s about to drive the storyline between him and Hannah. Would I like to see more? Only if it fits and only if it really plays a central figure in the show. I’m glad we’re not shying away from it in this instance because it is a part of it. And whether it’s sex or religion or both of those and how they mix, I’m glad we never shy away from those sometimes taboo social issues that will cause a lot debate around the country.

At the end of last week’s episode, Hannah tells Luke she can’t give him the rose, but as any diehard fan knows, it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of things. So does she really not give him a rose, or could it mean she’s not giving it to him right now but perhaps he could get it at the rose ceremony?

Chris: I can tell you that she does not give him the rose. But I can also tell you if you’ve ever seen an episode of The Bachelor or Bachelorette, there’s also a big “but.” While there is this Luke P. fatigue, all I can tell you is there is this amazing, bizarre, combative bond between these two people, and it’s like they’re magnets. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a relationship on this show quite like this where there’s just something there, but they get on each other’s last nerve. It’s almost like a sibling rivalry—and I hate to say that ’cause it sounds so weird, but the only thing I can even put a finger on is that it’s just such an interesting relationship. I know it might drive people crazy, but I find it fascinating to watch.

In tonight’s preview, we see you giving Hannah a hug. Is this a heart-to-heart or more of an intervention on your part?

Chris: I hate to make myself sound old, but that was more of a dad moment. I wear a lot of hats on this show, and that was a moment with this young woman that I adore that was hitting rock bottom and had just had enough and was so frustrated she couldn’t see straight. That was an ‘I’m there for you’ moment.

How serious did this get for Hannah? Obviously it’s not like Colton jumping the fence and saying he was going to quit the show, but you do ask Hannah if she feels like she can continue.

These Photos From Sophie Turner's Bachelorette Party Are Iconic


What bachelorette weekend is complete without McDonald’s on a private plane? “We can’t have nice things,” one of Turner’s friends wrote. “The entire plane spilled their McDonald’s & drinks on take off. Bless that flight attendant’s heart.”

Honestly, this looks like a perfect weekend, though there were two important people missing—the other two “J Sisters”, Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas. Chopra and Turner famously celebrated in Amsterdam ahead of Chopra’s wedding to Nick Jonas, but the actress appears to be hard at work in India, causing her to miss out on the festivities in Spain.

We’re sure they’ll all be reunited for that big second wedding this summer. Us Weekly reports that it’s going to be quite the bash. “Joe and Sophie want to have a huge party,” a source told the magazine. “The decor is going to be sophisticated, but there’ll be some kitschy elements, including a really wild cake. There’ll be a live band, and the Jonas Brothers are expected to take the stage.”

The Bachelorette Season 15, Episode 5 Recap: Is This Outlander?


Hannah knows she doesn’t have to keep Luke P. around, right? He’s the main source of drama right now, sure, but I think the other guys would step up and fill that void if he went home. And as far as I can tell, Hannah doesn’t even like Luke P. She actually says, to his face, that his was the worst date she’s had on The Bachelorette yet.

But we’ll get to that. First, let’s back up and recap everything that went down in last night’s episode. Spoilers ahead, obviously.

We open the episode with more Luke P. and Luke S. drama. Tired of ping-ponging between the two, Hannah demands they talk to each other directly. And when Luke S. directs his first sentence to her, she cuts him off: “No, not to me. To him.” This is the side of Hannah I love most—when she’s direct with the guys and puts them in their place. More of this…and less Luke P.

However, shock, the conversation goes nowhere. Hannah’s face during their bickering says it all:

At one point, she just gets up and walks away. I was hoping she’d go into the other room, grab Tyler C. by the hand, and head off into the sunset. But, no, she broods by a fire while the two Lukes whine at each other. Eventually, Chris Harrison comes in and reveals that Hannah is ending the cocktail party early.

But before the rose ceremony begins, Luke S. asks for a moment alone with Hannah. He apologizes for how everything went down and tells her to “keep your eyes open.” Then, he eliminates himself from the competition. TBH, I think it’s a good move. It’d be hard to move forward with Hannah after that, and he gets to save face. This doesn’t mean an open spot, though: Chris Harrison removes a rose from the table, meaning two guys will still be eliminated instead of one. Drama!

The roses go to Peter, Connor, Dylan, Dustin, Mike, Kevin, Devin, Grant, and…Luke P. (Garrett and Tyler C. already had roses.) And so, we say goodbye to John Paul Jones and his floppy hair and, um, another guy whose name escapes me. (Matteo, maybe?)

Anyway, Hannah reveals they’re all going to Scotland next. They kick things off in Inverness, and I assume Hannah traveled there through the stones. No, but really: I am so deep into Outlander that I can’t associate Scotland with anything but the time-traveling romance series. I’m thinking about Jamie Fraser and his abs even when Hannah cites Mary, Queen of Scots as a woman who “had to deal with a lot of men” and was eventually beheaded because of it. I mean, sure, Mary had some shitty dudes in her life…but it was Queen Elizabeth I of England who had her confined because she was afraid Mary was coming for her throne in the end.

Luke Parker Just Owned Up to His Bizarre Behavior on ‘The Bachelorette’


There were two main takeaways from Monday night’s episode of The Bachelorette: (1) Tyler Cameron is uncomfortably attractive, and (2) Luke Parker needs to calm down. Luke, who established himself as a front-runner in the first two episodes of the season, fell into a common franchise trope this week: Man Who Can’t Deal With Other Dudes Kissing The Bachelorette Even Though That’s Literally the Show. We’ve seen this happen a million times, both on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, but Luke’s frustration over other guys’ flirting with Hannah was next-level. He acted like a spoiled child every time he saw Hannah give someone else attention, and what’s worse: He got aggressive—so much so that Hannah had to tell him to chill out.

But Luke didn’t take Hannah’s warning at first. He kept cutting into other guys’ time at the group date cocktail party and, at one point, actually waited outside the door for Hannah, who was talking to someone else. It was perplexing, to say the least, and Bachelor Nation had thoughts:

Luke Parker is obviously tuned into fans’ reactions, because he took to Instagram shortly after the episode aired and owned up to his questionable behavior.

“I just want to address the elephant in the room here really quick,” he posted alongside a photo of himself and Hannah. “First I want you all to know how hard it has been for me to watch myself this season so far. Regardless of what is aired AND IF @alabamahannah and I are together or not my behavior in all situations has been and will continue to be exposed.”

He continued, “I have learned a lot and I am continuing to learn about my flaws as a man. I’m the first to admit I am far from perfect. This journey has giving me a great opportunity to grow and mature as a man, for that I am grateful. For those of you who are on this journey with me I am grateful for your support and hope you get to learn and grow from my mistakes with me!”

I, for one, applaud him for copping to what he did in the episode. But based on this Instagram post and what we’ve seen in the Bachelorette teaser trailers, we still have a lot more Luke drama in store.

This Weatherman's On-Camera Rant About Fans of The Bachelorette Deserves an Emmy


A local weatherman in Ohio named Jamie Simpson was not having it with fans of The Bachelorette on Monday night after they complained about his emergency broadcast interrupting the show.

For context: Tornadoes have caused some serious damage to both Ohio and Indiana in recent days, and Simpson’s report was in service to those affected. But for some people, this still wasn’t a good enough reason to cut away from The Bachelorette.

“I was just checking social media, we have viewers complaining…No, we’re not going back to the show, folks! This is a dangerous situation, OK?” Simpson said on air. “Think about if this was your neighborhood. I’m sick and tired of people complaining about this. Our job here is to keep people safe and that is what we’re going to do. Some people complain that this is all about my ego—Stop. Just stop right now. It’s not. I’m done with you people! I really am. This is pathetic. This is a dangerous situation here.”

He eventually apologized to Bachelor Nation, though, saying, “Alright, I’m sorry I did that. It just really bothers me that we have people that don’t care about other people’s safety around here. That’s just ridiculous.”

Once the video went viral, Simpson continued to put the focus on what really matters: people’s safety. “To all the National media outlets wanting to talk to me,” he wrote on Twitter. “We had an EF-3/4 tornado last night, more severe possibly the next three days…let me do my job please.”

Simpson has a point, people. Yes, I know this week’s Bachelorette episode was important, with its labor simulations and everyone thirsting over Tyler C. But Americans are in danger! They need to know this information more than they need to know about Luke P. hearing God in the shower. Safety instructions trump literally everything, even a rose ceremony.

Even The Bachelorette herself, Hannah Brown, agrees. “Thanks Dayton, Ohio for the love, but be safe,” she wrote on Twitter. “Naders are no joke.”

“He’s ABSOLUTELY right,” one (very smart) person commented on YouTube. “One of the most historic nights in weather history in the area, and this man probably saved some lives with his report.” They took the words right out of my mouth.

The Bachelorette Season 15, Episode 3 Recap: Even Hannah Thinks Luke P. Needs to Chill


The next morning Connor S. learns that his big one-on-one date with Hannah is canceled because she’s not feeling well—instead, they’re just going to hang out in her hotel suite while she recovers. He sweetly buys flowers, a card, and chicken noodle soup on the way. The date goes well, all things considered, but Hannah doesn’t give him a rose when he leaves. That might have thrown someone like Luke P. down a spiral, but Connor S. decides to leave sweet love notes on Post-Its around her room to make her feel better when she wakes up from her nap.

It works: Hannah loves the notes so much she sends a limo to pick up Connor S. just so she can give him a rose in person. “Connor made me feel great, even though I didn’t feel great,” she explains. They end the night with a private concert from Lukas Graham.

In the morning Hannah tells us she’s bummed that Tyler G. had to leave. There’s no further explanation for it on the show, but a quick Google search will tell you what happened there.

Moving on: The second group date of the week is a photo shoot with animals. It’s all just promotion for The Secret Life of Pets 2, but I’m not complaining. What? The pets are cute! See?

Also, this promo gives Demi another opportunity to test out her detective skills. Secret Life of Pets 2 is all about the secret lives of pets—hence the title, duh—so Demi wants to see what the guys secretly do when Hannah’s not around. To determine this, she’s hired a cute woman to pose as a makeup artist and flirt with the guys. None of them take the bait, to Hannah’s joy and Demi’s disappointment (and mine, TBH).

After the shoot is done Luke P. tries to get some alone time with Hannah but she shoos him off. “I need him to slow his roll,” she explains to the camera. “Luke P. stole the show again, but in a negative way.” She even tells him such at the cocktail party later that night once they’re alone. Luke P. being Luke P. he tries to cut her off mid-sentence, but she says sternly, “No, let me talk.” (YES, HANNAH.) “You don’t respect that I have other relationships here…and that bothers me,” she continues. After they part, Luke P. vents to the guys that Hannah spent their whole time together talking so he didn’t get a chance to explain himself. Oh, and he doesn’t understand at all why she’d complain that he’s being cocky so zero lessons were learned. “I’m going to act like that conversation never happened,” he concludes.

And he sticks to his word, attempting to interrupt her conversations with other guys multiple times. Rather than call Luke out, the bros conclude that it’s best to just let him self-implode. Their strategy seems to be working, given that Hannah has to tell Luke to back off so she can talk to every guy before he gets a second turn. “I want to call my own shots,” she tells him. He complains to the guys that he’s thought about leaving. This will surely come back to bite him.

While Luke P. is busy finding new and inventive ways to be the worst, Peter tells Hannah about how his mom and dad met. Turns out Mom saw Dad’s butt and said, “That’s the guy I’m going to marry.” And now I’d very much like to meet Peter’s mother. He gets the rose, but not before Hannah pulls Luke aside and tells him he needs to chill out if he’s going to stay. He claims he understands, but TBD.

The next day Chris Harrison tells the guys they’re having a tailgate instead of the standard cocktail party. So before Hannah arrives, Cam sits everyone down and announces that he has something serious to tell her and they should respect his time. He warns them that there’s a chance she’ll send him home because of this reveal. Lord willing. When he finishes his speech, Mike immediately calls B.S.
