Ariana Grande Hinted How Her New Album Will Address Her Relationship With Pete Davidson


Few things can inspire bops quite like a breakup, even though Ariana Grande’s Sweetener album dropped less than three months ago, the singer is already teasing her next album on Twitter. On Saturday morning, Grande confirmed that she’s working on her next album, which she says will be titled Thank U, Next.

The exciting news comes after Grande first used the aforementioned phrase in tweets that might’ve been in response to a joke made by her ex-fiance Pete Davidson in an SNL promo clip.

The God Is a Woman singer first hinted that she has a fifth album in the works back on October 24, but we learned a lot more about it thanks to Grande’s morning tweet sesh. She also hinted that, while the album might reference her breakup with Davidson, she won’t be “dragging” him.

The album’s title was thanks to her best friend, Victoria Monet.

She’s learned a lot from her relationship with Pete Davidson—at least according to her tweet below (reads like song lyrics, no?).

It also sounds like it’s going to be just as empowering as her incredible “God Is a Woman” track from earlier this year.

The album will also feature Ariana and only Ariana, letting her take center stage.

Thank U, Next’s release date is unclear for now. Until then, we’ll be here anxiously refreshing Grande’s Twitter feed and waiting for the Sweetener world tour to start.

Taylor Swift Just Hinted That She's Working on a New Album at the 2018 American Music Awards


Taylor Swift‘s last album Reputation was all about, well, her reputation. And while accepting the American Music Award for Best Pop/Rock Album on Tuesday evening, the country turned pop star explained just how the concept of the album came to be.

“This is actually the first time I ever wrote an album based on a title first,” she explained during her speech, after thanking her fans. “So, the whole time I was writing an album based on all the facets of a reputation and what it actually means to you, I was surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones who never loved me less based on the fluctuations of public opinion.” She added, “They all know who they are.”

Swift went on to hint that she’s already working on her follow-up to Reputation. “I always look at albums as chapters in my life. And I’m so — to the fans, I’m so happy that you like this one. I’m so happy that this means that you like this one,” she said. “But I have to be really honest with you about something: I’m even more excited about the next chapter.”

The Best Pop/Rock Album win was Swift’s 21st American Music Award. After that and the Tour of the Year trophy, which she won earlier in the night, Swift was only one award away from setting the record for the most AMAs of any artist. That’s not the only reason the 2018 AMAs were special for Swift, though: She opened the show with a fiery rendition of “I Did Something Bad,” marking her first award show performance in nearly three years.

All the Lyrics on Ariana Grande's New Album That Are (Probably) About Pete Davidson


Arianators, rejoice: Ariana Grande‘s fourth studio album, Sweetener, is here, and it’s 47 minutes of pure catchiness. To be clear, the album isn’t as overtly radio-friendly as Grande’s last album, Dangerous Woman; this time around, she swaps her signature glossy pop beats for something more experimental and R&B-inspired. The result, however, is just as fun and interesting. Immediate highlights off the album include “Breathin'” and “Goodnight n Go,” which samples Imogen Heap’s 2005 song with the same name.

Oh, and “Pete Davidson,” the minute-long interlude toward the end of Sweetener that’s an homage to Grande’s fiancé, Pete Davidson. The lyrics on the song are wildly romantic. “And I know you know that you’re my soulmate and all that,” she sings at one point. Davidson is obviously the subject here, but if you listen to the lyrics on Sweetener closely, he appears in other places, as well.

Of course, Grande recorded much of Sweetener before she started dating Davidson, so the more passionate lyrics may not have been inspired by him specifically. However, it’s safe to say that Grande now probably thinks of Davidson when she sings those words—which, in a way, makes them about him. Below, check out all the lovey-dovey lyrics on Sweetener that (probably) make Pete Davidson smile.

1. “Pete Davidson.” Because this song is literally named after Davidson, it’s safe to say all the lyrics are about him. “I thought you into my life, woah,” she sings at the top of the song. “Look at my mind, yeah. No better place or a time. Look how they align. Universe must have my back. Fell from the sky into my lap. And I know you know that you’re my soulmate and all that. I’m like ooh, ooh. My whole life got me ready for you, ooh, ooh. Got me happy, happy. I’ma be happy, happy, yeah.” She later adds, “Won’t get no crying from me, yeah,” before reiterating several times, “I’ma be happy, happy.”

2. “Blazed.'” Grande echoes similar thoughts about feeling lucky to have met someone on “Blazed,” which features Pharrell. “I can’t believe that you are here, I can’t believe it’s happening,” she sings. “What are the odds that you’d appear? The universe so vast to me. Seven billion is on the Earth. Could’ve been anywhere, but you’re here with me. Should I play lotto? What’s it worth? I must be on, so clear to me.” She adds during the pre-chorus, “Once I have you, I will never let you go.” In the second verse, Grande sings,”I don’t care who is listening, ’cause they be making fun of this on TV,” which could be a nod to how publicized her relationship with Davidson is.

3. “R.E.M.” Again, the lyrics on “R.E.M.” are a tad generic, but they do lend themselves nicely to Grande’s relationship with Davidson. “I watch them other girls when they come and bug you. But I felt like I knew you, so I just wanted to hug you,” she sings, which could be a reference to Davidson’s ex-girlfriends, Carly Aquilino and Cazzie David, who had very relatable reactions to his engagement to Grande. Later she sings, “I could buy you anything, but I cannot buy you.” In this month’s GQ, Davidson reveals Grande was the one who bought their $16 million apartment in New York City.

4. “Breathin'” This Max Martin-produced song is the most traditionally pop offering on Sweetener, and with it comes some predictably sappy lyrics that no-doubt make Grande think of Davidson. “Sometimes it’s hard to find, find my way up into the clouds,” she sings. “Tune it out, they can be so loud. You remind me of a time when things weren’t so complicated.”

5. “Borderline.” “You know I’m the wifey type, babe,” Grande sings on the pre-chorus of this Missy Elliott-assisted tune. And, well, she and Davidson are getting married.

6. “Goodnight n Go.” Most of the lyrics on this song come from Imogen Heap, but there are a few original words that seem to be Davidson-inspired. “Tell me why you gotta look at me that way,” she sings. “You know what it does to me.”

Pete Davidson Gushing About Ariana Grande's New Album *Sweetener* Is, Well, Sweet


With only four days left to go until the release of Ariana Grande‘s new album Sweetener, fans can barely contain their excitement, least of all her biggest fan, fiancé Pete Davidson. Unlike his fellow Arianators, Davidson has already gotten to listen to the entire album well ahead of its August 17 release date. This past weekend, he helped hype up his fiancée’s fans even more when she posted a video on Instagram in which he describes his favorite songs on Sweetener‘s track list.

Topping Davidson’s ranking is “God Is a Woman,” which he lauds in a string of hilarious, NSFW accolades (SFW version: “It slaps hard, dude!”). This should come as no surprise to anyone keeping an eye on the comments of Grande’s Instagram posts. When the song’s video dropped last month, Davidson wrote, “YUM YUM YUM,” followed by a series of heart emojis that perfectly coordinated with the video’s vibe. Next up on his list, obviously, is “My song, which is called ‘Pete,’ which is pretty sick ’cause that’s me,” he said. (Grande recently changed the track’s title from “Pete” to “Pete Davidson.”) Rounding out his top five are “R.E.M.”; “‘Sweetener,’ ’cause it’s just very happy and fun”; and “Better Off,” which he calls “sick,” before clarifying that, in fact, “they’re all sick.” In the background of the video, Grande can be heard giggling at Davidson’s sweet(ener) recs.

The Saturday Night Live star’s favorite songs from Sweetener seem to align pretty well with Grande’s. Last month, in an Instagram comment, she told a fan that “Better Off,” “Goodnight N Go,” and “Pete Davidson,” were especially meaningful tracks. “These three are really beautiful,” she wrote. “I know I said I don’t have favorites, but these and ‘R.E.M.’ are really up there.” Only a few more sleeps until Arianators get to hear those songs for themselves and find out if they agree with the couple’s rankings.

Beyoncé and Jay Z's Album 'Everything Is Love' Is Now Streaming Pretty Much Everywhere


Beyoncé pulled a Beyoncé over the weekend when she and Jay Z dropped a joint album, Everything Is Love, with no warning at all. Of course, diehard fans know rumors of a Bey and Jay collaboration have been swirling for a while, but Everything Is Love still caught many by surprise. How did these two have time to make a full-blown, 90-minute album?! They’re superheroes. It’s the only logical explanation.

Everything Is Love seems to be the final piece of the trilogy that includes Beyoncé’s album Lemonade and Jay Z’s 4:44 record, and get this: You don’t have to be a Tidal member to hear it. After spending a weekend exclusively on Jay Z’s streaming platform, the album is now available everywhere, including iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and Pandora Premium.

The streaming wide-release of Everything Is Love is a bit surprising. After all, on their new song “NICE,” Beyoncé raps, “If I gave two fucks—two fucks about streaming numbers / Would have put Lemonade up on Spotify,” leading fans to think this new record wouldn’t make an appearance anywhere else besides Tidal. Now that it’s everywhere, though, the BeyHive is naturally lit.

“Too happy that Beyoncé and Jay Z’s new album is on Spotify,” one fan tweeted. “I was to signing up to Tidal but the new Beyonce and Jay Z album is on Spotify! Like. What?!?!” wrote another person. Below, check out some more fan reactions to the news:

Beyoncé and Jay Z dropped a surprise (though long-rumored) joint album together on Saturday night, June 16, ringing the alarm for the Beyhive to collectively lose its mind. As if that’s not exciting enough, there’s a new feature track and a corresponding music video—filmed at the freaking Louvre—to go with the album news. Called “Apes**t,” it’s a visual masterpiece. But what else did you expect from Bey?

And while Beyoncé had been posting cryptic images to Instagram all afternoon, leading some curious fans to think she might be dropping something, it’s safe to say no one expected Christmas to come this early—and definitely not in the form of a joint album with Jay Z. The couple are, after all, very busy on their current On the Run II tour. Still, in traditional Bey fashion, all was kept under wraps until the appointed date and time.

Of course, Twitter had a lot of reactions to share as news of the album dropped. Some people immediately canceled their Saturday plans, while others joked about finding ways to listen without signing up for Tidal. One user even made this point, “I don’t wanna listen to an album where some MAN keeps interrupting Beyoncé.”
