Hailey Baldwin Addresses the Rumors That She Married Justin Bieber

UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 14, 2018 AT 4:56 P.M. ET — Hailey Baldwin took to Twitter on Friday and set the record straight: She is not (we repeat, not) married yet. “I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet,” Baldwin tweeted.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Surprising news, people: Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber are reportedly already married. Yup! If you’re keeping track, it’s only been about two months since the couple announced their engagement, but multiple sources tell People magazine that Bieber and Baldwin tied the knot on Thursday (September 13) in New York City.

“They went ahead and did it without listening to anyone,” a source allegedly close to the young stars told the magazine.

A second “religious” source confirmed the news, as well, telling People that Bieber and Baldwin did marry at a New York City courthouse but plan on having a proper ceremony and reception soon: “They’re going to have a big blowout, in front of God and everyone they love.”

TMZ broke the news yesterday that Baldwin and Bieber went to the Marriage Bureau in New York City, which issues marriage licenses. An eyewitness on site reportedly saw Bieber crying and telling Baldwin, “I can’t wait to marry you, baby.” Take that with a grain of salt, of course.

In fact, it might be best to take this all with a grain of salt until Bieber and Baldwin confirm. In a separate story, TMZ reports Baldiwn and Bieber will marry as soon as next week in Canada. It’s unclear, though, if the outlet is just referring to a formal ceremony and reception or actual marriage. Either way, it seems like Bieber and Baldwin are excited (and eager) to start the next chapters of their lives together. Congrats!

“The thing I am most excited for is that my little brother and sister get to see another healthy stable marriage and look for the same,” Bieber wrote on Instagram in July, confirming his engagement to Baldwin. “God’s timing really is literally perfect.”

Carrie Underwood Addresses Rumors That Her Facial Injury Was a Cover-Up for Plastic Surgery

Back in November, Carrie Underwood tripped on her front steps. The fall was a bad one; she broke her wrist and had to get 40 stitches in her face. Weeks later, Underwood announced to her fans that the accident had changed her appearance. “When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different,” she wrote. But when Underwood did appear in front of a camera again — at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April — fans were shocked. They had been prepared to welcome a new Underwood, but she looked like the same old Carrie.

Nine months after the accident, Underwood sat down with Redbook to talk about how the fall changed her life and, well, didn’t change her face. “Anytime someone gets injured, it looks pretty bad in the beginning, and you’re like, ‘What is this going to wind up like?’ You just don’t know,” she explained to the magazine. “It was also a perception thing, because I look at myself [now] and I see it quite a bit, but other people are like, ‘I wouldn’t have even noticed.’ Nobody else looks at you as much as you think they do. Nobody notices as much as you think they will, so that’s been nice to learn.”

She also addressed the nasty rumors that wound up circulating online that her injury was just a “cover-up” for facial plastic surgery. Spoiler alert: It wasn’t. “I’m on some magazine every other week for something crazy,” she said. “It’s a little sad, because the truth is just as interesting. I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this [scar] look better.” Instead, she spent a few months out of the spotlight recovering: “Life is full of ups and downs, and I might have had a few more downs than ups last year.” But this year, she’s back, and stronger than ever — with the scar to prove it.

Roseanne Barr Addresses Valerie Jarrett Tweet in Unhinged Video: 'I Thought the Bitch Was White'

Two months ago ABC canceled its reboot of the nineties sitcom Roseanne, following a racist Twitter rant from the show’s star, Roseanne Barr, that compared former Obama administration aide Valerie Jarrett to an ape.

Barr eventually apologized for her comments on the podcast Stand Up NY, but in a new video making its internet rounds, the comedian appears unhinged as she spews an expletive-heavy commentary on Jarrett yet again. The video surfaced late Thursday when Barr posted it to her YouTube account.

“I thought the bitch was white!,” she screams, referencing her racist tweet about Jarrett. “Goddamnit! I thought the bitch was white! Fuck!”

In the video Barr is seen smoking a cigarette and appears agitated as someone off-camera tells her to imagine a presidential address after a sex scandal. It’s unclear who shot the footage. But Barr isn’t interested in the commentary, shouting into the camera about Jarrett and Iran.

“I’m trying to talk about Iran, I’m trying to talk about Valerie Jarrett wrote the Iran deal! That’s what my tweet was about!”

The clip offers no other context, other than a caption that reads, “Roseanne, like always, cuts through the bullshit and gets the heart of the matter.”

Barr has offered a series of baffling explanations to justify her jabs at Jarrett, which have ranged from claims that she was commenting on anti-Semitism to an assertion that she was “Ambien tweeting.” However, the tweets weren’t the first time her feed has been mired in controversy; she has a history of peddling conspiracy theories and racist ideas on Twitter.

Jarrett addressed Barr’s comments publicly in May. “First of all, I think we have to turn it into a teaching moment,” Jarrett said. “I’m fine. I’m worried about all the people out there who don’t have a circle of friends and followers coming to their defense.”

When ABC first announcing it was firing Barr and killing the reboot, president Channing Dungey wrote in a statement, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant, and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

Since then, ABC has ordered a spin-off of the reboot called The Conners, which would continue with 10 episodes starring Roseanne original cast members John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Michael Fishman. Barr will not be a part of the program.

Serena Williams Addresses the Body Shaming She's Experienced for Having Muscles

In the more than 20 years since she turned pro, Serena Williams has faced a consistent stream of body shaming from those who (incorrectly, problematically) label her muscles and sheer power as “manly.” While those misogynistic comments used to affect Williams, in her cover interview for the July 2018 issue of Harper’s Bazaar U.K., she explains the much healthier, more empowering mindset she’s adopted to ignore the haters and keep doing what it takes to win 23 Grand Slam titles and four Olympic gold medals—and counting.

“It was hard for me,” Williams said. “People would say I was born a guy, all because of my arms, or because I’m strong. I was different to Venus: she was thin and tall and beautiful, and I am strong and muscular — and beautiful, but, you know, it was just totally different.” When asked by Bazaar about a 2004 report that on the tennis pro’s list of goals at the time, getting down to a size four was right under winning a handful of major tournaments, Williams replied, “Oh God, I’ll never be a size four! Why would I want to do that, and be that?”

“This is me, and this is my weapon and machine,” Williams continued, pointing to her biceps. “But I love that I said that, because I can understand. I can show Olympia that I struggled, but now I’m happy with who I am and what I am and what I look like,” she went on, referencing her nine-month-old daughter with husband Alexis Ohanian. “Olympia was born and she had my arms, and instead of being sad and fearful about what people would say about her, I was just so happy.”

And Williams knew from the beginning that Olympia would be just as strong as her mother, since, after all, Williams won the 2017 Australian Open while pregnant (and has since mounted the trophy in Olympia’s nursery because “it’s her win”). “I knew I was having a girl, because when I was playing tennis in the tournament, I didn’t have one day of morning sickness, no symptoms. Australia is really hot, some days can be over 40 degrees, which is insane, but she never complained. I said to Alexis, ‘This is a girl. Only a woman can be this strong,'” said Williams, who confirmed that sentiment earlier this week, when she won her first Grand Slam match since giving birth at the French Open—in a “supermama” catsuit, no less.

Prince William Addresses Princess Diana's Bulimia for the First Time

PHOTO: Tim Graham/Getty Images

Prince William and Prince Harry have continued their late mother’s efforts to destigmatize mental health issues in recent years. And now, for the first time, Will is addressing Princess Diana’s own struggles with low self-esteem and a subsequent eating disorder.

In a new documentary from British broadcaster Channel Four entitled Wasting Away: The Truth About Anorexia, William discusses the importance of speaking openly about eating disorders and other issues of mental health with Mark Austin, a former anchor for a British news network, and Austin’s daughter Maddie, who is battling anorexia. According to British Vogue, Will acknowledged the Austin family’s bravery for opening up about Maddy’s struggles. “We need to normalize the conversation about mental health. The fact that you are speaking out is incredibly brave,” he said. When asked by Austin whether he’s proud of his mother for speaking out about her struggles, William said, “Absolutely. These are illnesses. Mental health needs to be taken as seriously as physical health.”

In a bombshell 1995 interview, Diana told the BBC’s Martin Bashir how her tumultuous marriage to and divorce from Prince Charles had affected her self-confidence and mental health. “I didn’t like myself, I was ashamed because I couldn’t cope with the pressures,” Lady Di said. “I had bulimia for a number of years, and that’s like a secret disease…It’s a repetitive pattern which is very destructive to yourself.” She continued, “It was a symptom of what was going on in my marriage. I was crying out for help, but giving the wrong signals, and people were using my bulimia as a coat on a hanger: They decided that was the problem—Diana was unstable.”

Prince William, Princess Kate, and Prince Harry started the Heads Together campaign in 2016 to bolster other charities’ efforts in “tackling stigma, raising awareness, and providing vital help for people with mental health challenges,” according to the campaign’s website. Since then, the three have spoken openly about issues of mental health. Most recently, Harry was featured on the Telegraph‘s Mad World podcast, where he revealed his own struggles with depression following his mother’s 1997 death.

“I can safely say that losing my mum at the age of 12, and therefore shutting down all of my emotions for the last 20 years, has had a quite serious effect on not only my personal life but my work as well,” he said. “I have probably been very close to a complete breakdown on numerous occasions when all sorts of grief and sort of lies and misconceptions and everything are coming to you from every angle.” He continued, “My way of dealing with it was sticking my head in the sand, refusing to ever think about my mum, because why would that help? [I thought] it’s only going to make you sad, it’s not going to bring her back. So from an emotional side, I was like, ‘Right, don’t ever let your emotions be part of anything.'”

Harry revealed that William encouraged him to seek consistent therapy; since doing so, he has been in a much better place. “Because of the process I have been through over the past two and a half years, I’ve now been able to take my work seriously, been able to take my private life seriously as well, and been able to put blood, sweat and tears into the things that really make a difference and things that I think will make a difference to everybody else,” he said.

Brigitte Macron Addresses Age Gap Between Her and French President Emmanuel Macron

PHOTO: Morris MacMatzen/Getty

Even before Emmanuel Macron was elected president of France, his relationship with wife Brigitte Macron has been the object of close scrutiny and an exhausting amount of ageism due to the fact that Brigitte is 24 years older than her husband. Although Emmanuel spoke out earlier this year about the double standard that makes his marriage a topic of discussion, as opposed to that of Donald and Melania Trump, who have the exact same age gap between them (but in reverse), Brigitte has stayed largely silent — until now.

In a new interview with French Elle, the French first lady reveals that she was putting her own happiness ahead of the rest of society’s opinions when she decided to pursue a relationship with Emmanuel, whom she met while teaching drama at his high school, according to Elle‘s translation. “There are times in your life where you need to make vital choices,” she said. “And for me, that was it. So, what has been said over the 20 years, it’s insignificant. Of course, we have breakfast together — me and my wrinkles, him with his youth — but it’s like that.”

The 64-year-old added, “If I did not make that choice, I would have missed out on my life. I had a lot of happiness with my children and, at the same time, felt I had to live ‘this love,’ as Prévert used to say, to be fully happy.” Of the increased speculation her 10-year marriage received throughout this year’s election, Brigitte said, “I ended by telling myself, OK, I do not take it well, but I have to deal with it. After, it will pass.”

Shortly after his election victory, Emmanuel, 39, spoke out against the misogyny he and Brigitte have endured, as well as the “rampant homophobia” inherent in speculation that he’s gay and his marriage is a sham. “If I had been 20 years older than my wife, nobody would have thought for a single second that I couldn’t be [an intimate partner],” he told Le Parisien. “It’s because she is 20 years older than me that lots of people say, ‘This relationship can’t be tenable.'”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only sexist incident Brigitte Macron has had to deal with since entering the public eye alongside her husband. Earlier this summer, when the Trumps met up with the Macrons in France, President Trump interrupted his own conversation with Emmanuel to turn to Brigitte and offer his totally unsolicited opinions about her appearance, saying, “You’re in such good shape,” and then adding, “Beautiful.”

And just last week, Brigitte’s attempts to take a more active role in her husband’s administration were shot down when the French government decided not to give her an official political title, budget, or salary. Although some argued that elevating the first lady position from an honorary to an official one smelled a lot like nepotism, others believed that refusing to give Brigitte official powers was a misogynistic attempt to keep her in a subordinate role to her husband.
