Prince Harry Reportedly Didn’t Leave the U.K. on Good Terms With Prince William


It may not come as a shock to those who follow royal-family news that Prince Harry and Prince William are reportedly on the outs regarding the former’s choice to step down from his senior royal duties and move to Canada. Basically, initial reports that the brothers reconciled during “secret peace talks” have been greatly exaggerated. A “family friend” has recently come forward to confirm the rift is very much a thing…but it’s closing.

“They didn’t leave on good terms by any means, but they are both relieved that it’s over,” this “friend” told People.

While it seems there’s more work to be done to repair the brothers’ damaged relationship, the two are “talking more,” according to another palace source.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and baby Archie are reportedly settling into their new normal in Vancouver Island. “They are enjoying living a quiet life,” a source told People. “They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.” I mean, same.

“This decision [to leave] had been weighing on them for a long time, and they are relieved to have it done,” another friend chimed in to People. “A weight has been lifted off their shoulders.”

Prince William isn’t the only one Prince Harry is calling up, though. A source told the Sun that the younger prince is working hard to keep up with his friends back in the U.K. “Harry misses his friends, of course—anyone would,” the source said. “But he has been in WhatsApp group with his mates for years, and he uses that more than ever now to keep in touch and send pictures…. Harry doesn’t think being on the other side of the world means that he will lose touch with the people he has been mates with all his life.”

Brad Pitt's BAFTAs Speech Included a Harry Royal Exit Joke—and Kate and William Heard It


Brad Pitt continued his awards season winning streak at the BAFTAs on February 2—both in taking home statues for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and giving hilarious acceptance speeches. While most Americans were focused on the Super Bowl yesterday, across the pond the Brits were handing out their version of the Oscars at the Royal Albert Hall in London, with Prince William and Kate Middleton in attendance.

Technically Pitt didn’t give this new speech himself; he had costar Margot Robbie read it for him because he couldn’t attend due to “family obligations.” But he wasn’t afraid to go there about Prince Harry‘s highly-publicized royal exit.

“Brad couldn’t be here tonight due to family obligations, so he asked me to read his response for him,” she said. “He starts by saying, ‘Hey Britain. Heard you just became single. Welcome to the club! Wishing you the best for the divorce settlement, blah blah blah.’ He then says, ‘Thank you to the Academy for this extreme honor.’ He says he’s ‘always been a bit intimidated over here given the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the titans that have come before, so this is especially meaningful.’”

But it was his final joke about Harry that really got everyone laughing—including a highly amused Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. “He’s gonna name this Harry,” Robbie said. “Because he’s really excited about bringing it back to the States with him.” Watch the clip below and you can see the royals’ reactions as the camera cuts to them. Those laughs sure look real to me.

This seems to be, in part, a cheeky joke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent announcement that they’d be stepping down from the royal family and spending half their time in North America. Whatever the case, Middleton and Prince William appeared in good spirits over the whole thing.

Seriously, who is Brad Pitt working with on all these acceptance speeches? Because they’ve all been stellar. He’s out here cracking jokes about Tinder, his exes, Quentin Tarantino’s thing for feet, and now the Sussexes’ move to North America.

We wonder what he has saved for Oscar night?

Princess Diana’s Butler Shared the Sweetest Letter She Wrote About William and Harry


It’s been almost 23 years since Princess Diana tragically died in a car accident at the age of 36, and yet there’s still so much we don’t know about the woman known as the People’s Princess.

One thing has always been certain: Her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, were the most precious things in the world to her. Now a new never-before-seen letter is proving just that once again. Paul Burrell, Diana’s former butler, has often spoken to the press about the princess in the years since her death, much to the chagrin of some who’d prefer to keep her secrets…secret. But the new correspondence he released this week is simply very sweet.

“As Harry, Meghan and Archie embark on a new life, I am reminded of some poignant words which Princess Diana wrote to me many years ago,” he wrote on Instagram, alongside a black-and-white photo of the three royals. “They are a mother’s words of unconditional love, which are as appropriate today as they were when she wrote them over 24 years ago.”

The note was apparently written not long before Diana died in 1997. “I love my boys to death and hope that the seeds I’ve planted will grow and bring the strength, knowledge, and stability that is needed,” she wrote to Burrell. The words could apply to almost any mother talking about her children and her hopes for their futures.

Of course, we’ll never know what Diana thinks of her sons’ paths in life, but many commenters thought the note gave insight into how she would have reacted to Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from royal life. “You offer the most sober, loving reminder that Diana provided the Princes with the finest grounding and love for service to humanity. She would want @sussexroyal to find their way to that, in their own, authentic fashion,” one user wrote.

Queen Elizabeth Has Given Prince William a New Royal Position


The Duke of Cambridge has a new title to add to his list.

On Saturday, Kensington Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth had named her Prince William as the Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. The new royal role and title (which lasts for 12 months) means that Prince William will act as the British monarch’s representative to the Church of Scotland, carrying out ceremonial duties and visits as needed. “The Lord High Commissioner’s role is to maintain the relationship between the State and the Church,” the royal family’s official website explains.

Several of members of the royal family have previously served in the role, including Prince William’s father, Prince Charles, as well as Prince Edward and Princess Anne.

The appointment comes of the heels of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell decision to step away from royal duties. Just last week, Queen Elizabeth announced that the family had reached an agreement about the pair’s future, explaining that Harry and Meghan would no longer receive public funding, that Harry would forfeit his military appointments, and that neither Harry nor Meghan would use “HRH” titles.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been continuing on with their royal duties amidst the news, hosting a reception on the queen’s behalf at Buckingham Palace last week. While the couple haven’t made any official statements about Harry and Meghan’s move, Prince William reportedly told a friend that he was upset about how the situation played out.

“I’ve put my arm around my brother all our lives, and I can’t do that anymore…. I’m sad about that,” he said per the Sunday Times. “All we can do, and all I can do, is try and support them and hope that the time comes when we’re all singing from the same page. I want everyone to play on the team.”

News later emerged that the brothers had also spent time, alongside their wives, repairing a longstanding rift before Harry and Meghan began their new private lives in Canada.

“William and Harry have spent time together privately away from the official Sandringham Summit working on their relationship and discussing their future,” a source previously told The Sun. “It has been ground-breaking in terms of saving their bond as brothers and has been totally driven by them.”

Prince Harry and Prince William Reportedly Reconciled During ‘Secret Peace Talks’


Prince Harry is officially back in Canada with Meghan Markle and baby Archie after a whirlwind two weeks in London to sort out the Sussexes’ future life outside of the royal fold.

But before he left London, Harry reportedly took care of some other very important business: mending fences with his older brother, Prince William. Rumors of a rift between the brothers have been rampant for the past two years—with their wives, Markle and Kate Middleton being dragged into the press coverage too. Now, according to The Sun, the boys are back on better terms. “William and Harry have spent time together privately away from the official Sandringham Summit working on their relationship and discussing their future,” a royal source told the paper. “It has been ground-breaking in terms of saving their bond as brothers and has been totally driven by them.”

The Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge apparently joined in on the conversations as well. “But Kate and Meghan, who was in Canada, did join in with some of the talks on more than one occasion—which is another sign of a real thaw in their relationship,” the source continued. “Things are better.”

So what allegedly changed? Well, Prince Harry’s big move to North America for one thing. “Given Harry is now permanently moving away, there was a realisation if they didn’t sort things out now, they never would,” The Sun reports. “They decided to cut out all the toxic people stirring around them to deal with each other man-to-man as brothers.” Of course, as with any family, nothing is totally smooth—especially when your family business is the monarchy. But it sounds like things are on the right track. According to the paper, “Of course there have been serious differences in opinions but the family warmth is back. And they’re sad they’re going to be so far apart.”

Sounds like it’s time to start planning a family vacation.

Here's Why Kate Middleton Says She and Prince William Aren't Having More Kids


Kate Middleton and Prince William have their hands pretty full with their three adorable kids, Louis, George, and Charlotte (who looks so much like Prince William that he recently confused her baby picture for his). Still, people have often wondered if they might expand their family at any point, and tabloids have certainly had fun encouraging the idea. But Middleton spoke to a few members of the public while visiting Bradford this week, and reportedly put the rumors to rest by saying she and Prince William aren’t thinking about more kids.

Sources say Kate Middleton made the comment to a fan who asked if she and Prince William planned on adding any members to the family. “I don’t think William wants any more,” Middleton said, according to Hello! That seemingly puts an end to all the speculation—for now, at least.

Of course, Middleton has said a few things that have made people wonder if she might possibly have more babies on her mind. Last year, about a year after giving birth to Louis, she was out in Northern Ireland and crossed paths with a five-month-old baby, who she allegedly cooed over and admitted, “Makes me very broody.” She also joked, “I think William might be slightly worried.”

But feeling “broody” is one thing and full-on planning is another, and it seems like the Cambridges are committed to being a family of five . Plus, they have a ton going on, between a packed schedule of royal engagements and helping to figure out complications in the Sussex separation. (Prince William was reportedly part of a meeting that the Queen convened earlier this week.) And in between it all, Middleton has reportedly said she wants the kids to spend more time with Archie. Now, hopefully people will stop asking these two if they want more kids.
