Ariana Grande's First Trip to the U.K. Since Her Manchester Benefit Has Been Emotional

It’s been an emotional week for Ariana Grande, who returned to the U.K. for the first time since the benefit concert she held last summer in the wake of the Manchester terrorist attack at her May 2017 concert. According to People, Grande was in London to perform at KOKO for Capital FM’s Up Close series, and if her tweets are any indication, the trip hasn’t exactly been easy.

After a fan asked via Twitter why she hasn’t been her usual active self on social media, Grande responded, “Sry i’m really really anxious and really exhausted and jus trying to get thru the trip. hope that’s ok. hope you enjoy the performances. my priority is giving u the best performances i’m capable of.”

Grande has been very candid about the emotional struggles she’s endured since the attack, and her tweets this week suggest she’s still going through it. “I’m like really trying,” the singer added. “It’s jus been a while since i’ve done this or been this far away from home. this was a huge test. so far not so great hehe. but i’ve loved singing for u and seeing ur faces. that part has been nice. thanks for understanding n for loving me.”

In typical Grande fashion, she also thanked her fans for being the “kindest human beings on the planet,” and for being “so gentle n loving w me n always valuing my ‘human’ life as well as my professional one tbh.”

In July, Grande described having dizzy spells when she returned home from her last tour. “I would be in a good mood, fine and happy, and they would hit me out of nowhere,” she told Elle. “I’ve always had anxiety, but it had never been physical before. There were a couple of months straight where I felt so upside down.”

Meghan Markle's Mom, Doria Ragland, Is Reportedly Planning to Move to the U.K.

One of the most heartwarming moments of the royal wedding had to be when the cameras zoomed in on Meghan Markle‘s mom, Doria Ragland, just for a moment to capture how moved she was by the event. Ragland supported her daughter from the beginning of her big day, riding next to her in a Rolls-Royce to the wedding service at St. George’s Chapel and beaming proudly the entire time.

Now, it seems Ragland might be planning to stay at her daughter’s side for good: According to the Sunday Express, Ragland is planning to move to Britain just in time for her 62nd birthday to be closer to Markle. Sources tell the Sunday Express that the move could happen as early as next month—and that Ragland is reportedly completely stoked.

“She fell in love with England and told me when she got back that it’s somewhere she believes she too could happily live,” a source told the Sunday Express. “I think this has been coming for a while. Even before the wedding she told me how she misses her Megs so much she would do anything to be closer to her, especially now Meghan will be starting a family of her own.”

Ragland currently lives in California, where she teaches yoga and does social work for the geriatric community. Markle used to blog about her mom often back when she kept up her lifestyle website The Tig and once wrote a sweet tribute to her mom:

“Dreadlocks. Nose ring. Yoga instructor. Social worker. Free spirit. Lover of potato chips & lemon tarts. And if the DJ cues Al Green’s soul classic “Call Me,” just forget it. She will swivel her hips into the sweetest little dance you’ve ever seen, swaying her head and snapping her fingers to the beat like she’s been dancing since the womb. And you will smile. You won’t be able to help it. You will look at her and you will feel joy. I’m talking about my mom,” the now-Duchess posted in 2014.

The two are clearly super close, and it makes sense Ragland would want to be near her only child. There’s no official confirmation or announcement from the Palace yet, but from what we know, she already has a friend in Prince Harry, who described her as “amazing” in a BBC interview. Another one of Ragland’s new pals could also be the Queen, who she said she loved meeting at the royal wedding.

Meghan Markle Is Reportedly Planning to Spend More Time in the U.K.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship is one of the year’s biggest stories. Everyday it seems like a new, “source”-filled article comes out about the state of their union, and people gobble them up. Of course, it’s important to take these reports with a grain of salt. Save for Markle’s interview with Vanity Fair, the couple rarely speaks publicly about their relationship—so who the hell knows what’s real and what’s not?

That being said, it’s perfectly harmless to obsess over them in a TV-show-fan-theory kind of way: indulging in the stories about them playfully, knowing that it could all just be rubbish—and also knowing that Markle and Prince Harry never have to comment on their relationship if they don’t want to. We’re not entitled to any information about them.

So, with that, here’s the new “fan theory” currently setting the Internet ablaze: Markle is allegedly moving in with Prince Harry. Ring the alarm! Alert the queen! Stop everything!

The evidence for this comes from a Daily Mail story—so, again, believe at your own risk—which claims Markle has ended her Audi North America car lease because she plans to “spend more time in the U.K.” The Daily Mail didn’t explain why Markle’s reportedly planning to be in the U.K. more, but it connected the dots…and so are we.

But there might be another, less-exciting reason why Markle ended her car lease. A source told Daily Mail that Markle’s car is now too recognizable by the paparazzi, and some scary run-ins prompted her to cancel the contract as well.

It’s also possible that, ya know, she’s just over her car and wants a new one. Not everything has to be about Prince Harry, people. Don’t start planning Royal Wedding Number Two until there are more concrete receipts.

Miss UK Zoiey Smale Was Told to Lose as Much Weight as Possible—So She Gave Back her Crown

Miss UK Zoiey Smale has no time for your unrealistic beauty standards, thank you very much.

In June, Smale was crowned Miss UK in the United Kingdom round of the Miss United Continents pageant, qualifying her to compete in the international pageant in Ecuador. But then she heard from contest organizers that if she wanted a shot at winning, she’d have to “lose as much weight as possible,” she told The Daily Mail. The message apparently came down from the Ecuadorian directors of the international competition.

“It’s horrible and it made me feel so rubbish about myself for a long, long time,” Smale said. “I said to my director, who was really supportive, that I don’t think someone should say that to girls, it’s awful and it’s horrible and it’s wrong. I don’t think to be a good role model you have to be stick thin and I explained my reasoning that way.”

In addition to subjecting herself to an unhealthy dietary regime—which could be especially harmful to her, as an eating disorder survivor—Smale felt that if she continued, she’d be tacitly participating in a toxic culture. So she gave back her crown and forfeited her position in the global competition.

“I don’t think it is … right to have my face representing a pageant ethos I do not believe in,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “If a pageant doesn’t want to utilize my capabilities because I am a size 10 then it’s their loss.”

Smale told The Daily Mail that the focus on her weight devalued the charity work she’d done through the competition, which encouraged a twisted value system.

“This one took completely away from … promoting giving,” she said. “It’s more, you’ve got to be as stick thin as possible because that’s what the guys want to see. So I just handed my title back and I just shut that door.”

In a Thursday Facebook post, Smale wrote that she was “honored to be called a role model in today’s society.”

“Seeing the thousands of comments and messages across all of my media platforms, reading people’s personal experiences, just goes to show I am not alone,” she wrote. “I cannot thank people enough for their support and precious time.”
