What This Couple Did With Their Postponed Wedding Favors Will Make Your Day


What do you do if you have to postpone your wedding because of the coronavirus pandemic but now have your wedding favors⁠—more than 100 chocolate bunnies⁠—just sitting around ? You throw a bunny wedding, obviously!

Twitter user @thaispicytravel (whose actual name seems to be Mark) posted about this hilarious dilemma, which frankly gave me something to laugh about during this time of existential dread and uncertainty.

“So our wedding has been postponed for obvious reasons and we had 115 chocolate Lindt bunnies as wedding favors—time for a bunny wedding, of course,” he posted on March 25. The tweet included four actual photos of the ceremony, complete with a bride bunny in a veil, a groom bunny in a tie, rings, and an officiant with a teeny-tiny speech.

People on Twitter are living for the chocolate bunny wedding, and they’re coming in hot with the jokes. “If I was trapped in my house with 115 choc bunnies…well by now I would be trapped in my house with 2 or 3 choc bunnies,” one user responded.

“It’s such a struggle. We had to send them away…,” Mark wrote in reply.

Meanwhile, another user whose wedding plans have been put on hold has shared their leftover party favors, which were much less delicious than Lindt chocolate rabbits. (Sorry, it’s just the truth.)

“This could be a good thread. Cancelled weddings and share your [leftover] favors!” @bobbydav1986
shared. “We’ve got 26 bars of handmade soap to use now.” Actually, they may be in much better shape. We could all use more soap at the moment.

Mark replied that he’s sure many other couples are facing a similar dilemma right now. Lucky for him, he says, “Most of our family have (unsurprisingly) already graciously offered to take the bunnies off our hands…”

The 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Will Be Postponed Due to Coronavirus


After countless live events, concerts, and television productions have been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak, the fate of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo has finally been revealed.

On Sunday, March 22, IOC President Thomas Bach said he was going to take the next four weeks to decide the fate of the Tokyo Olympics, scheduled to begin July 24, but had ruled out canceling the games. However, according to USA Today, the worldwide competition will be postponed, likely to 2021, with more information to come within the next four weeks.

On Monday morning, March 23, the German, Brazil, and Norway Olympic Committees had all publicly urged the IOC to postpone the Olympics. Meanwhile, President Trump planned to leave the decision to the prime minister of Japan. “We will be guided by the wishes of Prime Minister Abe of Japan, a great friend of the United States and a man who has done a magnificent job on the Olympic Venue, as to attending the Olympic Games in Japan,” he tweeted. “He will make the proper decision!”

By the afternoon, Veteran International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound told USA Today Sports that the 2020 Olympics are going to be postponed, likely all the way to 2021, with the “details to be worked out in the next four weeks.”

“On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided,” Pound said in a phone interview. “The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the Games are not going to start on July 24, that much I know.” USA Today reports that Pound says the IOC will announce its next steps soon.

“It will come in stages,” he said. “We will postpone this and begin to deal with all the ramifications of moving this, which are immense.”

Whether or not you know someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus strain COVID-19, there’s no denying the impact the pandemic is having all over the world. Still, many Americans are wondering exactly how many precautions to take.

Many organizations, music festivals, and awards shows have either been canceled or postponed due to coronavirus concerns. The same goes for movie premieres, as well as production schedules for TV and film. Below, a list of all the major pop-culture entities that have been affected by coronavirus.

My Chemical Romance, Cher, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Ciara, BTS, Avril Lavigne, Pentatonix, Green Day, and more have begun canceling shows and rescheduling tours. “I AM SO SORRY, BUT YOUR HEALTH IS PARAMOUNT,” Cher tweeted. “CONCERTS R AMAZING FUN, BUT NOTHING IS WORTH YOUR HEALTH.”

If you have tickets to any upcoming shows by performers not mentioned here, we recommend checking the artists’ Twitter and contacting the venue to confirm they’re still happening.

Coachella and Stagecoach

Coachella Has Been Postponed Because of the Coronavirus


Some news for influencers and flower-crown enthusiasts: Coachella has been postponed until October because of the coronavirus outbreak, the festival announced on Tuesday, March 10. The Stagecoach country music festival has also been pushed back.

“At the direction of the County of Riverside and local health authorities, we must sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coachella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns,” reads a statement from Goldenvoice, the production company that runs both festivals. “While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our guests, staff and community very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials.”

This was the right move. It’s important people take the necessary precautions to keep themselves safe at this time. And in the great scheme of things, this is just a music festival and not worth endangering the wellbeing of millions.

Coachella will now happen October 9-11 and October 16-18 2020, which means you now have more time to save up and plan if you want to go. What this means for the lineup is still undetermined. Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott, and Frank Ocean were slated to helm the festival.

Tiffany Haddish Has Postponed Her Atlanta Show Over Georgia's Abortion Ban


In light of the recent wave of state-by-state attempts to block women’s access to safe and legal abortions, many high-profile women have been speaking out about their own experiences with abortion in order to draw awareness to the critical issue—and to serve as calls to action. Jameela Jamil spoke out in May about the pregnancy she terminated, and Ashley Judd also recently spoke about her own experiences securing an abortion in Georgia after she was raped. After the state’s extreme abortion ban passed in May, celebrities and studios have also been threatening to boycott working in Georgia, which would hit the state where it hurts: The film industry had a total economic impact of $9.5 billion there during the 2018 fiscal year, according to the state. Now, Tiffany Haddish has escalated the conversation by postponing her Atlanta show in protest over the abortion ban.

“After much deliberation, I am postponing my upcoming show in Atlanta. I love the state of Georgia, but I need to stand with women, and until they withdraw Measure HB481, I cannot in good faith perform there,” Haddish said in a statement on Saturday, according to CNN—making her the first celebrity to effectively cancel a performance over the ban. As Jezebel points out, it’s unlikely that Georgia will voluntarily strike down the law before it takes effect. (Ticket-holders will be refunded by the theater.)

Georgia’s law, set to take effect Jan. 1, 2020, will ban abortions after six weeks (before many women realize they’re pregnant) and criminalize them as well. Residents there won’t even be allowed to travel out of state to receive a legal abortion, or they could be charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The law only makes exceptions in cases of incest, medical danger to the pregnant person, and rape—though, for the latter, that’s only if there’s a police report filed.

So far, it seems like many are waiting to follow through until the law actually takes effect—it could be struck down by courts before Jan. 1. Among them, Netflix: “We have many women working on productions in Georgia, whose rights, along with millions of others, will be severely restricted by this law,” the company’s chief content officer said in a May statement to Glamour. “It’s why we will work with the ACLU and others to fight it in court. Given the legislation has not yet been implemented, we’ll continue to film there—while also supporting partners and artists who choose not to. Should it ever come into effect, we’d rethink our entire investment in Georgia.”

Now that Haddish has postponed her performance, it remains to be seen if other celebrities, studios, and companies follow her lead.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Postponed Their Honeymoon Plans


Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might be walking down the aisle on May 19, but the soon-to-be newlyweds won’t be settling into vacation mode anytime soon. Instead of heading off on their honeymoon, Kensington Palace confirmed Friday, the couple will get back to work immediately following their big day.

“The couple will be going on honeymoon, but not straightaway,” Kensington Palace spokesman Jason Knauf explained to reporters. “They will have their first engagement as a married couple in the week after the wedding.”

It appears that postponing honeymoons is becoming somewhat of a royal tradition. In 2011, Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, had to move theirs due to work reasons as well. At the time, a St. James’s Palace spokesperson told the Telegraph that the “Duke will return to work as a search and rescue pilot next week.” The spokesperson added, “The locations of both their private weekend before the Duke returns to work and their future honeymoon, which will be overseas, will not be disclosed in advance.”

However, the world quickly learned that Prince William and Kate chose the Seychelles — an archipelago of 115 islands located in the Indian Ocean off the eastern coast of Africa — as their romantic honeymoon destination.

“The couple thoroughly enjoyed their time together, and they are grateful to the Seychelles government for their assistance in making the honeymoon such a memorable and special 10 days,” a spokesperson for the royal family told reporters following their trip.

Like his older brother, Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to travel to Africa for their honeymoon getaway as well. According to reports, the couple will likely head to Namibia for their vacation and stay at Natural Selection’s Hoanib Valley Camp.

It makes sense they’d choose Namibia as it’s one place the couple can really get away from it all: The country is one of the least densely populated nations on Earth. They also vacationed for a second time in neighboring Botswana last December shortly before Harry popped the question (gems from Markle’s engagement ring were also sourced from there).

So, maybe there really is a chance for these two to escape the prying eyes of the world for at least a week or two. At the very least, the lions, zebras, and antelope on their safari promise to keep quiet.
