A Quick Note About Our New Look

Hi! And welcome!

You may notice we’ve made a few changes to our site. We’re celebrating our 80th anniversary this year, and as a birthday present we’re unveiling some upgrades. Our home page is designed so you can see more of everything Glamour is doing—our latest videos, our new podcast (binge the whole season of Broken Harts now!), our upcoming events across America.

In the coming weeks and months, you’ll also see a lot more shopping content (carefully curated by our editors to save you time) because you’ve told us you want more style and beauty recommendations (and also because we know you’re busy). And we’ll continue sharing all the personal stories, great reporting, and bold images you love from Glamour. We’re committed to serving you all of the best stories to watch, read, and listen to across style, beauty, entertainment, culture, and more.

We couldn’t think of a better cover star to kick off 2019 and our new look than Halsey. She’s a woman who dares us all to be “inconvenient”; who won’t stay silent when female musicians are held to a higher standard than their male peers; who isn’t afraid to take control of her own narrative. (As she says in her number one hit “Without Me”: “If they laugh, then fuck ’em all.” I’m down with that attitude.)

That’s what we hope for our Glamour tribe—that you can write your own story, define your own path, chart your own course. We want to hear all about it, and we’ll cheer you on along the way. Let us know how you like the site and what you want to see more of— and don’t forget to bookmark us!

Anne Hathaway Wrote a Heartfelt Note to Julie Andrews About *The Princess Diaries*

Anne Hathaway may have last worked with Julie Andrews 14 years ago, on the set of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, but that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten the many life lessons she learned from the actress. On Monday (October 1), Dame Julie Andrews turned 83, and Hathaway celebrated the happy occasion with a heartfelt Instagram post, complete with an adorable Princess Diaries reference. Uploading a still from the ball scene where Queen Clarisse formally introduces Mia as the Princess of Genovia, Hathaway listed all the important things Andrews taught her throughout their friendship.

“The importance of grace,” Hathaway began. “The knowledge that power is nothing without respect; Why one must have patience, positivity, perspective, manners, kindness, and humility. Always, To everyone, (No exceptions); The joy in treating people as a gift rather than a burden; How far choosing gratitude can get you… If I know anything about any of this, It’s because I was lucky enough to have learned from the very best at the very beginning. Happy Birthday Julie, Queen Eternal. All my love, Annie”

By the way, Hathaway isn’t just signing off like that to be cute. Andrews does actually call her former co-star “Annie”—in fact, she even referred to her as such while teasing fans with the possibility of a third Princess Diaries movie. “I think we might do it in honor of [late director Gary Marshall],” Andrews told BuzzFeed back in March 2017. “Annie had an idea that she wanted to pursue about it, and I’m all for it, so if she’d like to.”

It’s not just wishful thinking; in August, author Meg Cabot revealed to Entertainment Weekly that a script for Princess Diaries 3 does exist. “So who knows?” she said then. “[It] could happen, as we say.” Fingers crossed!

Chrissy Teigen Wrote a Beautiful Note About What *Crazy Rich Asians* Means for Her Daughter

After seeing Crazy Rich Asians with her daughter (Luna) and husband (John Legend) over the weekend, Chrissy Teigen took to Instagram and explained why the movie was so important for her family.

“You never know how much you miss being represented on screen until you actually see what it’s like to be represented,” she wrote in the caption, picking out specific moments of resonance, like seeing Luna call Constance Wu’s character’s mom “yāy,” or ‘grandma’ in Thai, because she looked like her own yāy. The model also wrote about how great it was to see that representation manifest with a wide range of different characters and themes, from sacrifice and hardships in the table scene to over-the-top spectacle in the party and wedding scenes, “just like any other great movie.”

Also included were cute photos of Luna and Teigen looking up at the poster, Luna and Legend watching the movie, and a video of the dad/daughter pair dancing over the closing credits at the end.

The importance of representation in Crazy Rich Asians has been pretty much woven into the movie from the start. Kevin Kwan, the author of the original novel, optioned the movie rights for $1 so that Hollywood wouldn’t whitewash it. And earlier this month, Constance Wu published a statement on Twitter about how significant it is that Crazy Rich Asians is a romantic comedy that “not only centers [on] an Asian-American story,” but fills it with a “talented, dynamic, unique all-Asian cast.” Its impact has already been felt at the box office: In just four days, it made $34 million and became the top-grossing film on its opening weekend.

You can read Teigen’s full caption below:

What can I really say about this movie that hasn’t been said byabsolutely everyone who has seen it. I’ve been excited to see thissince production was announced but I could have never imagined howwonderful it would be. I planned on seeing it, making a few jokesabout how it checked all the boxes for me (CRAZY ☑️ RICH ☑️ ASIAN ☑️)but the feeling I got during the credits, watching John dance with mylittle black asian mashup baby bear luna tunes, was a feeling Ihaven’t had at the end of any other movies.

Luna, aside from being blown away by the general movie-goingexperience (yep she’s 13 now, time flies) looked up at @constancewu’smother and yelled “yāy!” (“Grandma” in thai) because she saw someonewho looked like her yāy. Someone beautiful and aspirational. It wassomething that simple that made my heart just…warm. That made mehappy. It made me happy to see this over the top story done from somany angles, some I could totally understand because of my ownconfusing Asian American upbringing. I loved it all, from the quietermoments of talking around the table of sacrifice and past hardships tothe spectacle of the bachelor party. Finding that I could cry watchingthe most over the top aisle walk on the planet.

You never know how much you miss being represented on screen untilyou actually see what it’s like to be represented. And represented byall different types of characters with all different types ofpersonalities, just like any other great movie.

Also aside from all that, it’s just colorful, fun and big as f*ck.

God I love a rom com. God I loved it all. Thank you guys for makingthis movie.

Taylor Swift Sent a Fan a Note on Her Wedding Day That Left Her in 'Freaking Shock'

Taylor Swift‘s 2000s song “Love Story” has become an anthem of sorts for newly-married couple Brittany Lewis and Alexas (Lexi) Gonzalez. They first heard the song in high school, and it’s played an important role in their own relationship ever since. Lexi is the super-fan of the two, so, naturally, she was left in “freaking shock”—her words, not ours—when she received a present from Swift herself on her wedding day. Yup.

The “End Game” singer sent Brittany and Lexi a bouquet of beautiful white flowers and a note that read, “You have no idea how honored I am that ‘Love Story’ has been such a big bart of your beautiful love story. I’m absolutely thrilled that Lexi said YES! Have the most magical wedding day and hopefully I can meet you both soon! Love, Taylor.”

Lexi shared the note and flowers to Twitter, writing, “Still In freaking shock that @taylorswift13 sent me and my amazing Hubby flowers on our wedding day! ????? #LoveStory #SinceHighSchool #WeddingOfTheYear.” See the present for yourself, below:

So, how did Brittany and Lexi get on Swift’s radar? It turns out Brittany—knowing how much of a fan Lexi is—sent Swift several messages online asking her to do something sweet for their wedding. And she certainly delivered.

This isn’t the first time Swift’s sent fans flowers, either. In May, Swift gifted a fan some gorgeous flowers and a handwritten note on her graduation day. Though not “fans,” per se, Swift also sent flowers to Cardi B (after “Bodak Yellow” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100), backup dancers from the “Look What You Made Me Do” video, and the LAPD all in the last year. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. What can we say? Swift really loves her floral arrangements.

Joe Manganiello Wore a Hidden Love Note for Sofia Vergara in His Jacket

Joe Manganiello is wearing his heart on his sleeve—or in this case, his collar. The Magic Mike star attended the Hollywood premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi this weekend, where his red carpet outfit included a hidden love note for his bride, Sofia Vergara.

Manganiello’s wife, Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara, was on his arm when the couple made an appearance at the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Saturday, December 9. But that wasn’t the only place Vergara appeared that night. Later in the evening, the actress made a sweet discovery: Her hubby had a hidden love note just for her, sewn into the collar of his blazer.

Vergara took to Instagram to share the adorable gesture, snapping the secret “I Love Sofia” Manganiello had printed on the inside of his collar. “When your husband is carrying a little surprise for u,” Vergara captioned the photo of herself wearing her honey’s jacket. “I ❤️ you too,” she wrote.

How cute is this idea? Mind if we steal it, Joe?

Manganiello is no stranger to legendary love notes. For his and Vergara’s first wedding anniversary, he presented his bride with an epic love note—a 40-page-long one! “I wrote her a book as a gift for our first anniversary. It was about how we met—as well as our courting—and was about 40 pages long,” the actor previously told Cosmopolitan U.K.

While Manganiello didn’t exactly give a chapter-by-chapter outline of his novella, he did reminisce on how he met his love. “I was on a press tour when I found out Sofia was single [after splitting from Nick Loeb],” he said. “My friend is an editor and told me she was about to make the announcement. I got her number from Jesse Tyler Ferguson [Vergara’s Modern Family costar], then flew to New Orleans to take her on a date.”
