Pat McGrath Labs Is Having a Huge 4th of July Sale

When one of the most legendary makeup artists in the business drops a makeup line, you know it’s going to be good. But Pat McGrath’s Pat McGrath Labs is more than good, it’s truly incredible. The line started as limited edition product drops and has evolved to a collection of runway-inspired staples. While you can expect her products have been tested on literally every major model backstage, the line is also extremely wearable for those of us whose day jobs don’t involve a catwalk.

But 30 years of industry experience comes at a price. McGrath’s high-quality makeup is meant to evoke luxury and fantasy, and the price tag reflects that. However, every now and again Mother (McGrath’s nickname) cuts us a break and delights us with a surprise sale. From now until July 8, the entire line is 20 percent off. All you have to do is go to patmcgrath.com and use the code SUMMERSALE at checkout. Now’s the time to stock up on that eye palette, highlighter, or lipstick you’ve been eyeing for months. Here’s what we suggest.

Hallmark Is Premiering 2 New Christmas Movies in July, Because Why Not?

Hallmark is debuting a whopping 40 new holiday movies in 2019, and you won’t have to wait long to watch a few of them. According to Entertainment Weekly, the network is releasing two of those new movies in—wait for it—July.

The first one, titled Christmas Camp, comes specifically from the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel. Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of Hallmark’s website: “To get a promotion, Hayley, an advertising executive who specializes in social media, must land a toy company that is all about traditional Christmas as an account.” It stars Lily Anne Harrison, Bobby Campo, and Ben Gavin and is set to premiere July 7 at 9 P.M. ET.

A second film is coming the following week on the original Hallmark channel: A Merry Christmas Match, starring Ashley Newbrough and Kyle Dean Massey. This one, per EW, centers on a woman (Newbrough) whose annual tradition of directing a Christmas pageant in tribute to her later father is disrupted by a mystery man (Massey). Intrigued? Feeling festive? Me too! I’m fully prepared to decorate my pool chair with ornaments.

There’s an actual reason why Christmas is coming early this year. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is running its “Gold Crown Christmas” campaign from June 28 to July 14, while Hallmark has a “Keepsake Christmas” special going from July 12 to July 27. The brand has a history of airing Christmas movies in July as a ramp-up to its holiday slate, but last year’s lineup didn’t include any new additions. This year, we have two. It’s a Christmas miracle!

Lacey Chabert in Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe (2018).

Hallmark via Everett

Hallmark’s 2019 holiday season is shaping up to be one of its most star-studded. Network favorites like Lacey Chabert and Candace Cameron Bure are set to appear in new Christmas movies, as is musical theater queen Kristen Chenoweth. Does this mean we’re getting a Wicked-inspired holiday flick? Fingers crossed.

Either way, catch me watching every single one of these movies—starting with the two airing in July. Hand me the SPF and a Santa hat.

Melania Trump Wore a Red, White, and Blue Ralph Lauren Dress for the Fourth of July

Melania Trump knew all eyes would be on her when it came to dressing for the Fourth of July—all the more so after a high-profile faux pas involving a certain green military jacket worn to visit migrant children and emblazoned with the phrase “I really don’t care, do u?” on the back. This, along with a series of other much-discussed moments, made choosing her outfit for the Fourth of July—a holiday as American as it gets—weighted with extra significance.

The President and the First Lady hosted a picnic for military families on the White House lawn. Mrs. Trump went with the $2,490, blue-and-white Rivera gingham Ralph Lauren evening dress—who knew gingham could go evening?—anchored by a red, bow-embellished Alexander McQueen belt. Ralph Lauren is traditionally super American (the label has outfitted Olympians), so as far as that vein of criticism could go, the dress is practically, shall we say, unimpeachable. (Plus, it had pockets!)

PHOTO: Yuri Gripas/Bloomberg via Getty Images

As for the rest of her outfit, there is the on-sale $537 belt from Alexander McQueen, the British-based line. (And, well, if it weren’t for those pesky Brits, one could argue wouldn’t have gone off and started a fight for independence, nor, therefore had a Fourth of July to commemorate in the first place.)

Her shoes were—wait for it—flats (very picnic appropriate), and were reportedly from French shoe icon Christian Louboutin. So let’s leave it at that: It was the Fourth of July; FLOTUS wore a dress by an American designer. She got this one spot on.
