Salma Hayek Had an Epic Response to a Stranger Who Said She Had ‘Too Much Botox’


Salma Hayek perfectly shut down an online troll who told her she had “too much Botox.”

Here’s what happened: The Oscar-nominated actor posted a stunning selfie of herself enjoying some sun on Tuesday, February 18. She kept the caption simple: “#wind #aire.” But even still, the haters came out to give their unsolicited opinions. “Too much Botox,” one user wrote. “Not needed, Salma.”

But Hayek came in quick with her response. “I don’t have Botox,” she wrote. “But thank you for the advice because I was thinking maybe it’s time.”

I’m glad Salma Hayek isn’t sweating this one iota. It’s just another case of strangers being overly critical of celebs and making wild assumptions. Even if Hayek had gotten Botox, who cares? Aren’t we past the point in our culture where we’d judge someone for that?

If you are curious about Hayek’s beauty routine, she shared a few nuggets to The New York Times back in 2017. “I never cleanse my skin in the morning,” she told the paper. “My grandmother taught me that at night your skin replenishes all the things you lost during the day. Also, if I cleanse very well at night, why would it be dirty when I wake up?”

She also gave her two-cents on exfoliating, which she says “may make you look good in the short term, but not, I think, in the long term. I see many women in L.A. who have exfoliated so much they look shiny. I’ll use a mix of serums and oils depending on my skin that day.”

And one of her biggest philosophies is less is more. “At night I take off my makeup with coconut oil,” she also told The Times. “Then I use rose water to take off the residuals. You can use a hot towel with the rose water—you put a wet towel in the microwave—to do a little steam.”

Probably Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau’s wedding. I went in such a deep hole, and I could not get out of it. I was like, “What is happening right now?”

You’re stranded on a desert island, what are three products you bring with you?

Well, I mean if it’s a desert island, it’s going to be hot, so definitely moisturizer. Then probably my lip oil and a cleanser, because I could just use the ocean water to wash it off.

What color are you loving on your nails right now?

I haven’t had my nails done for a really long time, but right now, it’s purple.

What’s your favorite getting ready music?

I love Taylor Swift’s new album Lover. “London Boy” is my favorite song ever.

How much time do you spend getting ready normally?

You know, for an event and stuff, it takes maybe an hour and a half. But for everyday, less than five minutes. I just put my moisturizer on. And then at night, when I’m winding down, that takes me about 20 minutes—just cleansing slowly, moisturizing, taking off all my makeup.

Are you strict about taking your makeup off or do you fall asleep in it from time to time?

No, I’m pretty religious about my skin care routine. I wake up, put my moisturizer on, put my Swimming Under The Eyes Gel Pads on, and then go to work. I also like steam my face once a month. Oh! And I do a face mask every Friday night.

I love the little whale eye patches.

That was my idea from day one, and that was really difficult to get the shape right on those.

Why whales?

Because I believe that every animal should be in the wild and be free, and whales especially are such an angelic animal that deserve to be in the ocean. I’ve always had a love for how majestic and beautiful they are, so I wanted to involve them.

What’s your favorite way to take a moment for yourself?

I like to watch TV or YouTube—Friends is always my go-to—or I like to call my friends and hang out with my family. I also like to clean. I know that sounds crazy, but my room, I love a good clean. It feels very therapeutic for me.

Stranger Things Season 4: Everything We Know So Far


Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Stranger Things season four is officially happening, Netflix confirmed on Monday, September 30. The streaming giant revealed the news via a video on the Stranger Things Twitter page. “We’re not in Hawkins anymore,” the message reads as creepy, ominous music plays and the words “Stranger Things 4″appear in neon red letters. Netflix released the same video on Instagram, as well.

But unfortunately, that’s about the only new information Netflix divulged. We don’t know any real specifics about Stranger Things 4—just that it’s happening. However, we talked to a few of the cast members, and they teased a little bit about what’s to come. Plus, there’s some information online that can help paint a picture about the new season.

Here’s everything we know about Stranger Things 4 so far:

It’s happening. As the message dropped on September 30 confirmed.

Hawkins isn’t the focal point. The end of season three more or less told us this. Remember, the Byers plus Eleven have moved out of the sleepy Indiana town in light of Hopper’s “death.” Also, the post-credit scene revealed the Russians had acquired a demogorgon. All of this points to the scope of season four expanding. Also, the new Twitter teaser literally says, “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.”

Season four might be the last. “We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” one of the show’s creators, Ross Duffer, told Vulture. That being said, one of Stranger Things’ executive producers, Shawn Levy, told Entertainment Weekly that a fifth season is definitely possible but probably nothing else beyond that.

Karen Wheeler, real estate agent? That’s what Cara Buono, who plays her, is hoping for. “I always thought that Karen was someone who would have gone to law school and be a public defender to give people a voice who didn’t have a voice,” she told Glamour. “Or I thought what would be funny is after everything that happens in Hawkins, because people are moving and real estate has really gone down, she becomes a real estate agent! Like, ‘I know things seem a little unstable here, but now’s a great time to buy!’”

Maya Hawke on the Stranger Things Hype, Fame, and What’s Next


A big part of that involves Robin coming out. After Steve confesses his feelings for Robin, she reveals her own truth: She was obsessed with him in high school—because the girl she liked had a crush on him. Steve accepts Robin warmly; by the season’s end, they’ve become best friends. “You know, there’s probably not a lot of people coming out in high school in Indiana in the 1980s,” Hawke says. “I think the reason she comes out is because she loves Steve and wants him to understand why she has to reject him and doesn’t reciprocate his feelings. It’s to preserve their friendship, and I think she wants to be her whole self with him.”

Hawke says the decision to make Robin gay came after a lot of conversations with the Duffer brothers. “We were trying to decide if that was the right thing for her, if it was natural, if it felt like who she was supposed to be,” she explains. “We just wanted to make sure nothing about it was forced.”

Eventually, though, it became clear: “It was the only true thing. When I go back and watch the episodes I shot before we made that decision, it seems so obvious to me that’s what was meant to happen.”

Hawke is grateful the scene was handled with “the most care.” If it has a greater cultural impact, all the better. “There’s a difference between having diversity in television and having diversity in hit TV shows, the shows that are in everyone’s living room,” she says. “You can get right into their heart by getting into their homes, and having empathy for characters and stories can broaden one’s empathy for people in the world. There were conversations about how that could be important or impactful, but really the decision came down to what was right for Robin.”

“I think the most important thing was that [Robin’s coming out] was original; we tried to have it be really uniquely her and not like a generic coming out scene in a big TV show.”

Of course, Steve isn’t the only new friend Robin makes. The whole Scoops Troop, which includes Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Erica (Priah Ferguson), became a pseudo-family on and off screen. “She was really nice and gave me good advice,” says Ferguson of working with Hawke. “She told me to always stay kind. I learned a lot from her.”

As the Troop’s two newest additions to Stranger Things, Hawke says she couldn’t help but share some advice with Ferguson. As she explains, she grew up seeing her family navigate the pressure of being in the public eye—and how to avoid it.

Evan Rachel Wood Calls Out Jim Hopper's 'Unacceptable' Behavior on Stranger Things


This post contains spoilers for Stranger Things. Consider yourself warned.

If you spent the Fourth of July weekend watching the latest season of Stranger Things on Netflix, you’re definitely not alone—in fact, over 40 million accounts tuned in.

But actor Evan Rachel Wood is one viewer who was less than thrilled with the third installment. More specifically, she felt the behavior of Jim Hopper (played by David Harbour) was “unacceptable” and took to Twitter to express her thoughts, igniting a heated conversation online. “You should never date a guy like the cop from #strangerthings,” she tweeted. “Extreme jealousy and violent rages are not flattering or sexy like TV would have you believe. That is all.”

She followed up in a thread, writing, “Yes I am aware its ‘just a show’ and its set ‘in the 80s’ even though this stuff was unacceptable then too, but thats exactly my point. It’s just a show and this is a gentle reminder not to fall for this crap in real life. Red flags galore.”

Many agreed with her. “YES, THANK YOU!!!! I was thinking this from the moment he manipulated Mike into breaking up with El. The man is chock-full of red flags,” one person tweeted. “Yeah, I’ve liked Hop generally, but this season the way he’s furious that his daughter is dating, & jealous of a guy who Joyce spoke to (despite emphasizing to her that it wasn’t a date) wasn’t a good look. He had a right to be upset at being stood up, but the Scott thing was ?,” another wrote.

But others didn’t agree with her criticism, citing both the time period the show takes place in and the fact that Hopper is a fictional character. “It was the 80’s. That’s how it was. I survived it and so should you,” one Twitter user wrote. Another added, “So now we should avoid writing flawed human beings into TV shows and film? Toxic masculinity was an unfortunate trait from the 80s, and probably the show is doing an accurate depiction of it through Hopper! Do I root for it? No.”

The conversations surrounding her initial tweet were so heated, Wood took to Twitter to address them again. “Cue all the abusive people attacking me on twitter for posting a warning not to fall for abusive behavior like a popular tv character exhibited on a popular show because it reminds them of themselves and they feel personally attacked?” she wrote. “Bring it on guys.”

“This isnt to say everyone who disagrees is an abuser,” she adds. “But it is very telling to see who agrees with the behavior.”

Stranger Things' Cara Buono on the Season 3 Scene She Asked To Change


“In that moment you see her partner with their kid and it’s like, ‘Jesus, don’t do it,'” Montgomery says. “And she doesn’t, which I think is really redemptive. Because for Billy, he’s not really going out on that much of a limb. He’s a single guy, a young dude. He’s flirting with her—but for her, there’s so much more at stake.”

Buono says the scene wasn’t originally scripted that way, though. Karen was supposed to walk down the stairs and only see her husband, Ted, sleeping in his chair. But Buono felt that actually could have given her more reason to meet up with someone, so she asked co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer to include Holly in the scene. That way Karen would really have motivation to stay.

“There are few things that really spark a strong feeling for me, but it was important,” Buono says of her decision to ask the Duffers to alter the scene. “I immediately said to them, you have to put Holly in there. If not, it might give her pause. But to see Ted with their daughter, it’s like, ‘That’s my family.'” Buono points out that Karen is the head of the household, and the Wheelers are a source of stability in Hawkins. “People have family meals there. It’s safe, it’s together, and she realizes she can’t do this to her family. She realizes it’s not about her. She’s the grownup, and she has to make the grownup decision for her and Billy.”

However, Buono says she would have liked a few more flirtatious scenes with Karen and Billy. “That flirtation would have been fun to do,” she says. “Maybe a scene in a diner…you know, not straight into a hotel room. Like, ‘Let’s have a cheeseburger and flirt a little bit more!’ Just a little more courting.”

That said, Buono says she still see Karen turning Billy down in the end. “It’s a different show if it goes in that direction of Karen having an affair, as fun as it would have been to explore.”

And while it seems Karen and Billy’s storyline has ended—although, it’s not called Stranger Things for nothing—Buono hopes her character will get a chance to evolve in season four. “I always thought Karen was someone who would have gone to law school and be a public defender to give people a voice. Or, after everything that happens in Hawkins—because people are moving away and real estate has gone down—she becomes a realtor. Like, ‘I know things seem a little unstable here, but now’s a great time to buy!'”
