Karlie Kloss Says She and Jared Kushner Share the Same 'Liberal Values’ Despite His Ties to Trump

When it comes to her relationship, Karlie Kloss doesn’t care what people think. The supermodel, who recently became engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Joshua Kushner, has faced criticism for choosing to be with someone who’s at least peripherally in the Trump orbit. (Joshua is the younger brother of Jared Kushner, which makes him Ivanka Trump’s brother-in-law.)

For a recent interview with Vogue, the usually private Kloss admits that being with Kushner hasn’t come without its complications, but that at the end of the day, they share the same liberal belief system that flies in the face of the president and his administration.

“Josh and I share a lot of the same liberal values that guide our lives and the things we stand for,” she said in the interview. “We’ve really grown together personally and professionally. Josh knows that I’m just a nerdy, curious human being. I think that’s why he loves me. We have each other’s back.”

While this marks the first time Kloss has opened up about her and Kushner’s political beliefs, the couple made a huge statement when they attended the Women’s March on Washington last year. The Cut also reported that despite their familial ties to President Trump, both Kloss and Kushner voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

As for Kloss, don’t expect her to open up anymore about her relationship with Kushner moving forward. When Vogue tried to press on whether or not she plans on converting to Orthodox Judaism, like Ivanka did prior to marrying into the Kushner family, Kloss replied, “At the end of the day, I’ve had to make decisions based on my own moral compass — forget what the public says, forget social media. I’ve chosen to be with the man I love despite the complications.”

She continued, explaining how being hounded about her relationship is sexist. “It’s frustrating, to be honest, that the spotlight is always shifted away from my career toward my relationship,” she said. “I don’t think the same happens in conversations with men.”

Jared and Ashley Reveal the Story Behind Their Bachelor in Paradise Engagement

Ever since Bachelor nation couple Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon announced their surprise engagement, which finally aired on tonight’s Bachelor in Paradise, fans have wondered if this friendship-to-romance fairytale was the real deal. Yes, there’s a 2.4 karat Neil Lane ring involved, but did the guy who friend-zoned Ashley on multiple seasons of BiP really do a complete 180? And wasn’t she kind of serious with Kevin on Bachelor Winter Games earlier this year?

The short answer to both: Yes. The couple stopped by Glamour‘s west coast offices recently to talk about their relationship, which you can see in the video below, and their banter and PDA didn’t stop—even when the cameras weren’t rolling. Or, as Ashley put it during our interview, “Look at this man. He’s so perfect. How did my soulmate come in such a beautiful package?”

Now, the wedding countdown begins (“We’re thinking about next August, but definitely within the next 14 months,” Ashley says). Until then, we had plenty of pressing questions to ask. Like, who won’t be at the wedding? And how did that Bachelor in Paradise engagement go down? Read on for more.

Glamour: Who are you inviting?

Ashley Iaconetti: Well, all our friends. A lot of [Bachelor] production.

Jared Haibon: When it comes to the guest list, I can guarantee you there’ll be times we feel really awkward saying, “Yeah, you’re just not invited.”

Ashley: There are a lot of people who are like, “I better be invited to the wedding,” and I’ll be like, “Hmmm. Not.”

Jared: A lot of people have already been like, “We better be invited to the wedding!” And it’s like, “I know you’re not joking.”

Glamour: Who are these people?

Jared: People from Bachelor family who we’re kind of friends with, but we’re certainly not close enough to invite to the wedding. But seeing how it’s a very public wedding, I’m sure they’re like, “Of course I’m going to get invited!” I mean, I haven’t even started thinking of a guest list, but I’m already fearful.

Glamour: Do you feel pressure to invite the Bachelor or Bachelorette whose season you were on originally?

Jared: No.

Ashley: Oh, hell naw! Hells to the naw!

Jared: Well, I would want Kaitlin (Bristowe) and Shawn (Booth) there.

Ashley: I think Kaitlin and Shawn would make the invite because I would naturally invite Kaitlin; she was a big part of my experience on this franchise. That is funny, that he would have a girl he’s made out with at the wedding.

Glamour: But not Caila Quinn [who Jared dated the last time he was on Paradise]?

Ashley: Oh, hell to the naw! [Laughs]

Jared: We’re just not friends with Caila. I wish Caila all the best.

Glamour: Well said. Ashley, you’ve gone through so much heartbreak on the show. If you could go back and tell yourself one thing, what would you say?

Ashley: Hold on. Just keep holding out hope! You’re really good holding on hope, just keep doing it. [Laughs]

Glamour: For anyone who has ever been told it’s never going to happen with the person they are interested in, what kind of message does your relationship send? Or is this an exception to the rule?

Ashley: We say we’re an exception to the rule. When I read the hater boards and stuff, a lot of people are like, “They shouldn’t be thinking they’re role models for a relationship.” We don’t! In He’s Just Not That Into You, I’m the Ginnifer Goodwin character. I am the exception to the rule. Most people who are so in love with somebody and they just don’t feel the same way back for like, two plus years, it’s probably not going to happen. You should probably move on. In a way, I moved on. For a solid year before Jared actually admitted his feelings, I was like, I guess it’ll never happen.

Glamour: And you truly believed that?

Ashley: I honestly thought that our marriage pact was the only way Jared and I would be getting married. If we were both not married by 35. I was like, I bet you there’s a solid chance we’ll both be single by 35 if we’re not together and we’ll probably end up together and live a happy life. I didn’t think he was going to come out with those [feelings]. We get the greatest comments about hope and how we give people hope and they believe in love again. It’s the nicest thing we could ever hear from people. But when there is a friend-zone situation, I want to be like, here’s the best advice: Jared said if I were to have cut him off cold-turkey a couple years ago, he would have come back. All this would have happened way sooner. So, I think that’s the test for people who are stuck in the friend zone. Cut him [or her] off, and if they don’t come back…

Jared: Then it’s over.

Ashley: Then it’s not going to happen.

Jared: I completely agree.

Glamour: Jared, there was always a spark with Ashley though, right?

Jared: There was never nothing. We got along really well, but for me, there wasn’t that romantic, boom, fireworks. A lot of it had to do with timing. It was literally a month after I finished The Bachelorette, which I was very invested in, when Ashley crossed my path [on Paradise]. Even if it was really good, I was like, “No, no, no, no, it’s not going to work out.” I never really gave that an opportunity. What’s funny, though, is that I always knew I was going to have some sort of romantic-comedy spin on my love life. I just didn’t know it would end up like this.

Ashley: You sure got it!

Glamour: Let’s talk about going to Bachelor in Paradise this year. Why were you even going in the first place?

Ashley: I thought we were going to [give out] a date card. We had been down there during Paradise season three and Jade and Tanner came down there for a date card.

Glamour: Who arranged for this to even happen? Jared?

Ashley: He handled most of the arrangements for the first time. I’m usually our travel coordinator. But, I was like, in the case that this is what I hope it is, I’m just going to let him deal….

Glamour: What do you mean “in the case that this is what I hope it is?”

Ashley: I mean, I definitely hoped we were going there to get engaged. I think any girl in my shoes would definitely think that, too.

Jared: I agree. She was definitely dropping hints that she was going to say yes. She was saying, “Hey, if you ask me tomorrow to get engaged I’d say yes.” She’d even say that we’re not going to live together until we get engaged. So, she was definitely dropping a lot of hints. I was trying to keep it from her, but I knew as soon as I started talking to ABC [about] going to Paradise, and I was telling Ashley we were going to make a cameo…

Glamour: Did you suggest going to Paradise to get engaged?

Ashley: I may have done the initial planting.

Jared: No, you didn’t.

Ashley: I kind of told [one of the producers] back in the day, “We’ll see where this is going. If this is going as well as it is right now, maybe we’ll talk to you about things we can do in Paradise.” They would have talked to [Jared] regardless.

Jared: I give you a lot of credit for a lot of things, but I give you zero credit for that.

Ashley: [Laughs]

Glamour: So, you went down with the impression you were giving out a date card, which makes sense.

Ashley: Oh, yeah, it makes total sense. There were so many other couples down there. So many people made cameo appearances.

Jared: It wasn’t really out of the ordinary for us to go there.

Ashley: The more couples and people I knew were going down there, the less likely it seemed like we were going to get engaged. It actually made me feel like, Oh, everybody’s doing it.

Glamour: Let’s say it wasn’t an option to get engaged on Bachelor in Paradise. Would you have still proposed now, Jared?

Jared: Probably right around there. I remember talking to a lot of my friends and family about whether it was too soon to get engaged in Paradise. They were like, “Well, when do you see yourself proposing?” and I was like, “I don’t know, maybe six months from now.” So they said, “You’re going to wait six more months when this opportunity is presented to you? What are you, out of your mind?”

Ashley: Remember that conversation we had four days before we went to Paradise? I was like, “We’d have to be married by 31, so we can have a year married by the time we start trying to have kids.” And you were like, “What? 31? That’s like, next year!” He was like, “That’s so soon!”

Glamour: So you had started talking about having a family?

Jared: Of course. We started planning a family the day we became boyfriend and girlfriend. It’s not scary for us. I think that’s a big part of the relationship. It’s not scary for us to talk about the future because we want the future to be with both of us.

Glamour: How many kids do you want?

Jared and Ashley simultaneously: Two to three. [Laughs]

Glamour: What was the funniest reaction you heard from your friends in Bachelor Nation when they found out?

Ashley: I think they weren’t that surprised. They were like, “This is how we do things around here.”

Glamour: After your engagement is shown on Paradise, when will viewers see you two on TV again? Would you ever have your own show?

Jared: We’d be open to it.

Ashley: We’d definitely want to be producers on it because we wouldn’t want to be in one of those Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey situations. So many couples who’ve had reality shows, it just breaks them. We’d need to be heavily involved.

The Bachelor's Jared Haibon and Ashley Iaconetti Tell Us the Story of That Neil Lane Engagement Ring

Both Jared Haibon and Ashley Iaconetti thought, “Perfect” when they laid eyes on the Neil Lane engagement ring he would propose to her with on June 17.

“After talking to production and Neil Lane, and figuring out what I wanted and what Ashley wanted, as soon as I saw a picture of it, I knew it was perfect,” says Jared.

The Bachelor couple, who announced they were officially dating in an instantly-iconic 44-minute video after years of will-they-won’t-they across a range of the franchise’s series, got engaged while filming the latest season of Bachelor of Paradise in Mexico earlier this summer. For this very important relationship milestone, Jared turned to the ABC-beloved jeweler to bring Ashley I.’s dream engagement ring to life. Before actually popping the question, though, Jared didn’t get much time alone with the Neil Lane ring—only about 15 minutes, he says: “I had pictures sent to me. The ring was being sent down to Mexico before I got there.”

PHOTO: Noel Vasquez

Other than Jared, the first person to see a picture of the ring was Ashley’s sister, Lauren. “I was at [Ashley’s] on Friday—Lauren knew we were getting engaged, and I received the first picture of the actual ring, and showed [it to her] in the kitchen while Ashley was in the bathroom,” he says. “Lauren was like, ‘Holy shit, that ring is perfect. I have to show you something.’ Earlier that day [she and Ashley] were getting their nails done—apparently, somebody who was engaged was sitting next to Ashley, and Ashley tried on her engagement ring that looked exactly like that, and Ashley was like, ‘This is the perfect ring. This is exactly what I would want.’ And it was the ring I was going to present to her two days later.”

It all went down shortly after Jared and Ashley I. arrived in Mexico to film Paradise. “They separated us before we actually went down there, and that was the first time I got the ring,” he remembers. “They gave me a couple minutes alone with it to really let it sink in… It was just a moment you always dream of as a guy, having the engagement ring, the moment before you propose. This is symbol of your love for Ashley, and you’re gonna get down on one knee and present this to her and ask her for her hand in marriage—all those things were just going through my head on the beach where we first met. It couldn’t have been more perfect.” (Ashley I. chimes in: “I love that Jared says things like, ‘This is what guys think of their whole life.’ Like, how sweet?!”)

When Ashley I. saw the platinum ring—which features a 2.4 carat radiant-cut diamond, according to People— she remembers thinking: “Welp, that’s it—that’s exactly what I requested.”

Though the couple says they didn’t look to celebrity engagement rings for inspiration in the design (only the occasional Pinterest sweep, admits Ashley), Jared says he “looked at previous Bachelorette and Bachelor contestant rings for [an] idea of what I think looked good, what didn’t look good… It all came down pretty much to what Ashley wanted, and I talked to production about it.” The final product was a combination of her desires with his research—like the 86 full-cut diamonds forming a halo around the center stone, for instance: “She didn’t really want one, but they said, ‘Listen, I think this would look really good around the diamond,’ so I said alright. I Googled JoJo [Fletcher]’s ring, because I think she doesn’t have a halo, but Rachel [Lindsay]’s does—so I was comparing, and I thought it looked a lot better with the halo, so I said, ‘Put that on.'”

In the end, Ashley thinks he made the right call. “The first thing he said was ‘I know it has a halo, I know you didn’t want a halo…,'” she recalls. “I was like, ‘Believe me, it’s just fine!'”

Oh, and as for the wedding? They’re thinking “within the next fourteen months”—next summer, ideally. Yes, they want a beach-y wedding. (“Not Paradise beach-y, like sailboat-beach-y,” says Ashley. “I would never get married in a cold season.”) No, they don’t know if it’ll be televised yet. (“We have no idea,” explains Jared.) If it’s anything like their The Story of Us entry, we’ll definitely be tuning in. Until then, Paradise!

Surprise: Bachelor in Paradise's Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon Are Engaged

Bachelor Nation flipped out last month when Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon finally revealed they were in a relationship. This was a long time coming: Separately and together, Iaconetti and Haibon have appeared on every iteration of the Bachelor franchise and spent most of their time on Bachelor in Paradise together either flirting or crying. Now they’re finally a couple. They even documented the start of their relationship with a 44-minute video, which is the most Ashley and Jared thing they could’ve done.

And the good news just keeps on coming for them. People magazine is reporting that Iaconetti and Haibon are engaged. Are you surprised? Well, you shouldn’t be. We all knew this was coming—and if Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson can get engaged after a month of dating, Iaconetti and Haibon can do whatever they want. We all can!

According to People, Haibon proposed to Iaconetti Sunday on camera while filming the fifth season of Bachelor in Paradise, which, of course. It’s a full-circle moment considering their relationship started on Bachelor in Paradise. Back then, during the show’s second season, Iaconetti was upset Haibon didn’t reciprocate her feelings for him, leading to a roller coaster of teary-eyed drama. It looks like there are only happy tears in their future now.

Or no tears at all. There’s no crying happening in the photo People shared of Haibon proposing to Iaconetti. She’s just smiling wide with her head tilted back, and Haibon’s acting as though there aren’t 20 cameras and an entire crew watching them. Ahhh, there’s no love like reality TV love.

Check out the photo for yourself, below:

Fans, naturally, are happy for Haibon and Iaconetti’s years-in-the-making engagement:

It looks like we’ll find out more about how this proposal went down when Bachelor in Paradise airs later this summer. Here for it.

47 Crucial Thoughts I Have About Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon's 'Story of Us' Video

After three years of tumultuous drama on every iteration of The Bachelor franchise, Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon are finally dating. It took approximately 50 gallons of tears to get us to this point, but we’re here. And it feels…I don’t know…right?

Naturally, Iaconetti and Haibon celebrated the kickoff to their relationship in the most Bachelor way possible: with a 44-minute video explaining, in excruciating detail, the story behind their relationship. It’s the latest installment of Iaconetti’s video series called The Story of Us, and, well, it’s exactly what you’d expect.

Tears, emojis, the use of the phrase, “Can I borrow you for a sec?”—this video is everything Ashley and Jared shippers could want and more. If you want to watch it, check it out, below. If you don’t, these 47 thoughts I have about it sum everything up pretty well.

[embedded content]
  1. I honestly can’t with Jared’s facial hair in this interview.

  2. “Yeah, he’s cute” – Ashley’s reaction when she saw two episodes of Jared on The Bachelorette. That’s, like, the chillest thing she’s ever said about him.

  3. “It was truly love at first sight” – Ashley, on seeing Jared on Bachelor in Paradise. If I was on a free vacation, though, I’d fall in love with the first person I saw, too.

  4. “I remember seeing you get out of the limo and thinking you were hot.” – Jared, being a typical douche.

  5. Why didn’t Jared brush his hair for this interview?

  6. The way they’re talking about seeing each other for the first time legit sounds like animals mating in a forest.

  7. Alright, this whole bit of Jared talking about how he’s only been with “shy,” “soft-spoken,” and “feminine” women is cringe-y. “I’m not, like, very well-composed.” – Ashley. Girl, same.

  8. Drink every time Jared kisses Ashley’s hand.

  9. “We just rambled on.” – Jared, on the first 10 minutes of this video. Also the vibe of the other 34 minutes of this video. This is just…44 minutes…of them…talking about…themselves.

  1. Does Ashley attend Hanson concerts…every year? Does Hanson go on tour ever year?

11 Jared’s favorite superhero would be Superman.

  1. They’re talking about hickies now. OMG. They’re adults!

  2. Yup, of course Jared looked like a bum for his first romantic date with Ashley, and she dressed to the nines.

  3. Jared’s jaw could cut a pineapple.

  4. I need to see this alleged “Backstreet Boys” video Jared made for Ashley’s birthday.

  5. Honestly I’m starting to think Bachelor in Paradise was less about Ashley being “crazy” and more about Jared being a gaslighter!

  6. Oh, wow, now they’re getting deep and talking about “shame.” Go back to making jokes about Hanson, please!

  7. Oof, all this talk about anger and resentment. What Is. Happening?

  8. First tears, 23 minutes in!

  9. Oh wow, lots of tears. From both of them! Reality TV dramaaaaa.

  10. Jared still having residual tears while talking about Bachelor Winter Games is accidentally hysterical.

  11. They keep distinguishing between “real life” and their time on The Bachelor franchise, as if we all don’t know it’s heavily produced.

  12. They’re really deciphering their emoji usage right now. I need nine glasses of wine immediately.

  13. Jared, Bachelor Winter Games was a kick in the ass for all of us.

25 Annnnd more tears.

  1. I want to wear Ashley’s hoop earrings.

  2. “Tanner loves the theatrics of everything.” In other news, Tanner and I are twins.

  3. If Tanner is this couple’s fairy godfather, I want to be the fairy godmother.

  4. I still can’t get over the fact these people are real.

  5. Who knew the trainwreck that was Bachelor Winter Games would be the catalyst for this relationship?

  6. This video is 44 straight minutes of hot people problems.

  1. Jared actually said, “Can I borrow you for a sec?” before kissing Ashley and implying that he wanted to be with her. ABC’s impact!

  2. And Ashley was like, “K, thanks, but I’m still going to hang out with the dude from Bachelor Winter Games.” Queen.

  3. Of course, though, she dumped Winter Games guy for Jared Patchy Beard Haibon!

  4. Ashley just compared Jared to a volcano ready to burst. They’re so deep! We love metaphors.

  5. She’s crying over Jared’s white fluffy dog card. I feel seen.

  6. Ugh, Jared, we don’t need you to read the literal novel you wrote to Ashley to win her back.

  7. Jared, reading his letter: “I love watching football with you, even though the Giants suck!” Ashley: (Giggles). This is some heterosexual nonsense.

  8. This all, quite frankly, is some heterosexual nonsense.

  9. But I’m crying and love it so let me live.

  10. Oh my Gosh. Now they’re bragging about how cute their own love story is.

  11. Ashley: “So many people are like, ‘They live in their own little romantic comedy world,’ and it’s, like, but look.” Jared: “Yeah! Yeah we do. We’re pretty happy.” Ashley: “Chick flicks are real. They are! They’re adult fairytales, and they do come true.” I just…I just don’t even know what to say about this.

  12. Whatever, that’s a cute quote. But all I want to do now is sing “Miracles Happen” from The Princess Diaries.

  13. But, really, Jared. Shave the facial hair. Just shave it all. Cut the chord!

  14. Can’t wait for The Bachelorette now.

‘Bachelor’ Fans Are Losing It Over Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon's Unexpected Love Story

Today truly is a day for rejoicing, because Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon from The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and The Bachelor Winter Games—so, yes, every iteration in the franchise—are finally dating.

This will come as a shock to anyone who watched Haibon friend zone Iaconetti, who’s best known for being the biggest crier in the Bachelor franchise (a mix of her own behavior and show producing, no doubt), over the course of seasons two and three of Bachelor in Paradise. Iaconetti seemed to finally move on during Bachelor Winter Games, when she fell for Canadian Kevin Wendt, but it seems that spurred Haibon to realize what he was missing.

Because now Haibon and Iaconetti are officially a thing. More than a thing, really: The couple announced their relationship with a splashy photo shoot for People magazine and an episode of Iaconetti’s web series The Story of Us, where they gushed about their love for each other for 44 straight minutes. That’s the 2018 equivalent of opening up a joint account, to be honest.

Iaconetti has never seemed happier. And Haibon looks happy, too, though it’s a little hard to discern because the patchiness of his beard is so distracting. Make a decision: go clean-cut or grow it out! Troubling facial hair aside, their episode of The Story of Us is quite sweet. “I’m living proof that you should listen to your gut, and that it’s not too late. The person I wanted to be with most was right in front of my eyes,” Haibon said, according to People.

“He’s written me other letters and filled my apartment with flowers. He tells me every day that he’s the luckiest man alive,” Iaconetti added. So happy! So blissful! And no crying! Just kidding: There’s definitely crying in the video.

Anyway, check out Iaconetti and Haibon’s Story of Us episode, below:

[embedded content]

And you know these two had something to say on social media about all of this. “I love my boyfriend,” Iaconetti posted last night, alongside of pic of Haibon kissing her. In his own post, Haibon stole a line from When Harry Met Sally, “I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”

Bachelor Nation’s going bananas over Haibon and Iaconetti’s relationship, naturally. Below, the best responses we found:

You guys: This is what Ariana Grande meant when she said there are no more tears left to cry. Her impact!
