Meghan Markle Just Wrote a Powerful Letter About Access to Higher Education

“I am proud to be patron of the ACU and all that it stands for, as we champion those seeking a higher education and commit to making this world a better place – together,” Markle wrote.

Education access has been an important cause for the Duchess of Sussex, who graduated from Northwestern University in 2003 with a double major in theater and international relations, since well before she became a royal. She has spoken publicly about it on a number of occasions since marrying Prince Harry in 2018. In January, she met with students from one of the ACU’s 500 university members:

“As a university graduate, I know the personal feeling of pride and excitement that comes with attending university,” she said in a speech during the couple’s royal tour in Fiji. “From the moment you receive your acceptance letter to the exams you spend countless late nights studying for, the lifelong friendships you make with your fellow alumni to the moment that you receive your diploma, the journey of higher education is an incredible, impactful, and pivotal one. I am also fully aware of the challenges of being able to afford this level of schooling for many people around the world, myself included.”

Beyoncé Wears This Highlighter, and No Higher Endorsement Exists

Beyoncé’s cover for the September issue of Vogue dropped on Monday, and the Internet hasn’t stopped talking about it since. From Beyoncé’s overarching creative direction, to Tyler Mitchell (at 23-years old, the publication’s first-ever black cover photographer), to the candid as told to essay, everything came together to solidify its place in history. And while Beyoncé’s glow may have seemed like it was radiating directly from the light inside of her, some important knowledge just dropped: the name of the highlighter responsible for her soft-lit sheen.

It’s all thanks to her makeup artist, Sir John, who broke down exactly how to get the glow.

According to reps for the brand, Sir John started off by prepping Bey’s skin with Marc Jacobs’s Beauty’s Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer (recently crowned a Glamour staff fave). Then, he used a two-part step to get that precise “bronzey, rose-gold finish”: First up, Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter in Fantasy, which he put on the high points of her face.

After that, he mixed Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter in Fantasy with foundation slightly darker than her face for what he calls a “3D cheek.” “It’s all about a glowy contour. Dew Drops are worth their weight in gold. It’s the one thing I have in my bag everywhere. I use it for concerts, for shoots, for tours—I use it religiously,” he said. Finally, Sir John topped off his gorgeous creation with Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Finish-Line Perfecting Coconut Setting Powder.

Dew Drops is no stranger to celebrities’ faces—stars from Selena Gomez, to Cardi B, to Gisele and Janelle Monae have worn the original highlighter and the Fantasy version on the red carpet and beyond. But Sir John’s tip? “Always avoid shimmer on the front of the face. Apply it to your angles for sexiness.” And that, friends, is how you get a Beyoncé-worthy highlight.

Catt Sadler Fires Back at E!'s Claim That Jason Kennedy's Higher Salary Was Justified

Sunday evening’s Golden Globes red carpet felt like a longtime-coming reckoning for E! News as several actresses spoke out in support of Catt Sadler following her departure from the network because of a pay-disparity dispute. And now the former anchor has fired back herself at her former employer, which recently claimed that the disparity in pay between Sadler and former colleague Jason Kennedy was somehow justified.

On Tuesday, while speaking to reporters during the Television Critics Association press tour, NBCU Lifestyle president Frances Berwick spoke openly about Sadler’s decision to leave E! after learning she made nearly half of cohost Kennedy’s salary. Berwick said she “wanted to set the record straight” that Sadler and Kennedy’s salaries couldn’t be fairly compared as the pair had “different roles” at the network. Berwick went on to justify the pay gap by explaining that Sadler and Kennedy had different amounts of airtime and different focuses altogether. “Our employees’ salaries are based on their roles and their expertise, regardless of gender,” Berwick said, following up with, “Catt was focused on daytime. Jason Kennedy is on prime evening news, plus red carpet.”

But in an interview today with The Hollywood Reporter, Sadler vehemently denied these claims by Berwick. According to Sadler, comparing Kennedy’s involvement with the network against her own would be comparing “apples to apples.” She continued, “We came to the network at the same time and did similar jobs. For people to use the argument that Giuliana somehow made more money than Jason, that comparison doesn’t work. They’re apples and oranges. She joined before him, she was managing editor, she had multiple shows on the network. It’s unfortunate that people who don’t work there are trying to be the voice for the network. The only story I can tell is my truth, and the truth speaks for itself.”

Back in December in the initial post on her website announcing her separation with E!, Sadler wrote, “I have two decades experience in broadcasting and started at the network the very same year as my close friend and colleague that I adore. My team and I asked for what I know I deserve and were denied repeatedly.”
