People Think Netflix's New Show Ginny & Georgia Will Be the Next Gilmore Girls

Have you been missing the quick, clever, pop culture-tinged mother-daughter banter of the Gilmore Girls as much as we have? Well, it sounds like Netflix may have just found a suitable replacement for Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel): Ginny & Georgia.

Deadline reports that the streaming platform has ordered 10 episodes of a show called Ginny & Georgia, and it seems to have a lot of Gilmore Girls DNA, which makes us excited.

Here’s the gist on the story: It’s about 15-year-old Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry) and her 30-year-old mother, Georgia (Brianne Howy). We’re already seeing the resemblance here, but Deadline also notes that the awkward teen often feels more mature than her mother, who is described as “irresistible and dynamic.” Sound familiar?

Not as familiar as the show’s next plot point: According to Deadline, Georgia, keen on giving Ginny a more stable life, relocates their family to a gorgeous New England town. It’s there where they navigate a new prestigious school and romances, both for mother and daughter.

So let’s recap: We have a great mother-daughter duo who aren’t super far apart in age (like the Gilmores), a New England setting (ahem, Stars Hollow), and a prestigious school (like Chilton). There’s even a local farm-to-table restaurant owner who sounds an awful lot like Luke. There are some differences, of course, including a younger brother for Ginny. But the parallels are undeniable. We bet Ginny and Georgia are big coffee fans, too.

People online are already having strong reactions to the show. “Soooo gilmore girls but with a twist?,” one Twitter user wrote. Another said, “Sounds like Gilmore girls but edgier.”

Ginny & Georgia is currently in production. We’ll have to wait until the show debuts in 2020 to find out how similar it actually is to Gilmore Girls, but color us intrigued.

Best Bralette For Big Boobs: Les Girls Les Boys' Soft Bra Review

I’m the latest in a generations-old line of late bloomers. How late? Well, I didn’t wear a bra at all until I turned 16. And even then, it served a more or less decorative purpose.

Maybe it’s because I had been denied the privilege for what felt like forever, but I’ve had a love-hate with lingerie ever since. Love: the Natori Feathers, the ThirdLove 24/7 Classic Contour, the CUUP Balconette. Hate: most lace, all rhinestones, that one mean saleswoman at a boutique which shall remain nameless, and above all, bralettes.

For the better part of the last decade, I’ve refused to buy into the absolute scam that is the unlined, unwired “soft cup” bra. Oh, sure, all the cool, flat-chested girls wear them and extoll their virtues—“I don’t even feel it! It looks so chic!”—but I’m now a 32D in bras, and if I wanted an inanimate collection of atoms that offer no support to lift me up, I’d just go back to college.

The fact of the matter is: Most bralettes for D cups, in my experience, are bad—poorly made, shoddily designed, mostly purchased by women who don’t need to wear bras at all.

Let’s be clear, it’s not that I think an underwire is some incredible boon to women. But unlike a bralette, at least it’s honest. You know what you’re in for with an underwire. Smooth boobs. A modest lift. A mental countdown clock that calculates the seconds until you can come home and take it off. I had therefore all but written off bralettes. That is, until I found the logo soft bra from Les Girls, Les Boys.

Les Girls, Les Boys is a new, simple, and achingly cool street-style brand from designer Serena Rees. Aesthetically, the label is a decided departure from Rees’s previous venture, Agent Provocateur. (She co-founded Agent Provocateur in 1994 and sold it in 2007.) Les Girls, Les Boys is as minimal, utilitarian, and understated as Agent Provocateur was extravagant. And its logo soft bra is good enough to make me come around an entire category of undergarments.

The logo soft bra—which is mercifully not called a bralette—doesn’t look like much more than a piece of perforated fabric, but its construction is full of delightful surprises. First, the elasticized band is a little thicker than most, which means it doesn’t buckle or twist, even over hours of wear. Second, the cups don’t offer quite sports-bra level coverage, but are fuller than most standard triangle bras, which means a snugger, more comfortable fit. And third, there’s not a trace of frill or lace in sight.

Since I got it a few months ago—and then stocked up on it, religiously—it’s become a wardrobe staple, and I’m genuinely crushed when I get dressed to put on some outfit that requires a real bra. Or worse! A strapless one.

Still not sold? When I came home last week after an endless slog at the office, it took me an entire episode of Southern Charm to realize I hadn’t taken it off yet.

Star Nails Are the Trend L.A. Girls Are Obsessed With

If, like us, you’re guilty of trolling Instagram for hours looking for nail inspo, you’ve likely stumbled across art courtesy of Olive & June. From actually chic French manicures to ditsy florals and even llamas, the salon has had a hand in all of the season’s biggest nail trends. Since it’s opening in 2013, Olive & June has been the go-to salon for all of L.A.’s fashion girls and celebs (Lady Gaga stopped by earlier this year, NBD) and is well-loved for it’s minimal nail art and cozy environment. It’s so popular, in fact, the brand just launched its own line of nail polishes.

“Having fun with your mani is back in, especially telling a story across a few nails,” Olive & June founder Sarah Gibson Tuttle tells Glamour. But there’s been one style of nail art that she says has been particularly popular this summer: star nails. More specifically, a sprinkling of minimal, graphic stars on a crisp background color. It could be that we’re all so in tune with our horoscopes, or maybe left over spirit from the Fourth, but Tuttle has a more practical hunch: they’re low effort, high payoff.

The simple style is also relatively easy to do at home. Tuttle recommends starting with a clean summery polish color, like bright white (try Olive & June’s brand new HD). While you can freehand stars, the easiest and cleanest way is to use the brand’s star sticker packs, and then seal in with a top coat.

The placement is up to you, go for a random sprinkling of stars across a few fingers, one on each cuticle, or a cluster on a single finger for an unexpected accent nail.

If you’re not feeling star nails, Tuttle has also noticed that Evil Eyes and florals are having a moment as well, although they’re much harder to re-create at home.

Nail art not your thing? Tuttle notes that minimal nails have also been very popular at the salon this season. “Pretty manis are everything right now,” she says. “Our Nail Polish in GH has been one of our best sellers, and it’s a gorgeous shade of pink that feels right for any moment.” In addition to soft pink, she says sheer, barely there nude manis have also been a top request.

The Spice Girls Are Making Another Movie, and All 5 Have Signed On

Spice World might be one of the most unsung classics of the late ’90s. The beloved Spice Girls’ musical comedy had pretty much everything: a wild plot, a Meatloaf cameo, an inexplicable scene involving UFOs, a little Gucci dress, and of, course, that iconic bus. Now it looks we could see the bus throttling through London again, because there’s reportedly another Spice Girls film in the works—only this time, it’s going to be animated.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed this week that Paramount Animation is bringing back girl power in a big way. The studio is in the early development stages of an animated Spice Girls feature, which is slated to drop in 2020. The best part? Unlike some of their recent reunion tours, all five women—Melanie Brown (Scary), Emma Bunton (Baby), Geri Halliwell (Ginger), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), and Victoria Beckham (Posh)—are going to have a role in the new production. The film is also going to include the band’s manager Simon Fuller, who is a producer, and Karen McCullah, who wrote the screenplay for the original Spice World.

©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection

Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria didn’t reveal too many specifics, but she told THR that the Spice Girls “had an idea that we’ve been developing” and that “they are very involved.” If you remember, Spice World was based on “an idea” by the Spice Girls and Fuller, so this second film is clearly off to a good start.

Rumors about an animated movie began swirling in early 2019, and Variety previously reported that the script might involve a superhero plot in which there would be a “‘girl power’ unique to that group member that reflects each girl’s personality.” It’s unclear if that’s still the plan, but THR does say that the flick is going to include some new Spice Girls songs, as well as all the classics. Maybe this will finally give us a chance to get that “Spice Up Your Life” lyric right….

Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" Video Will Reference Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, and 13 Going on 30

Since Ariana Grande dropped “Thank U, Next” earlier this month, arguably the whole world has been obsessed with the breakup anthem. And it looks like the music video for the bop will soon reach our screens — complete with references to not one or two but four iconic ‘00s romantic comedies.

Ari is the queen of building up anticipation, but she’s also the queen of mercilessly hinting at her next move. On Nov. 19, she set the internet ablaze with a photo of her kissing her cousin with various Mean Girls nods sprinkled all over social media. “All of this is tea. Only a tiny sip tho…tbc. And by a tiny sip, I literally mean tiny…like 25% of the cup,” she teased.

As it turns out, the references were indeed a hint about the forthcoming “Thank u, next” music video. And we now basically have another 50% of the tea confirmed by Ariana herself.

Alongside Mean Girls is Reese Witherspoon‘s 2001 classic Legally Blonde, as Grande’s confirmed in multiple Instagram posts. One photo shows Ari on a treadmill (or elliptical, hard to tell) with Apple’s 1999 original orange iBook (yes, the exact same one Elle Woods outstandingly rocks at Harvard Law). The pic is accompanied by Elle’s infamous quote, “Whoever said orange is the new pink is seriously disturbed,” as the caption.

But it looks like Ari’s not alone when it comes to stepping into Elle’s shoes, as she also shared a snap of her beloved Toulouse à la Bruiser Woods, casually chilling in a pool lounger. Iconic. Ari also posted a photo with actor Jennifer Coolidge, clad in her Paulette regalia, while sporting a fluffy pink top, which she captioned “new best friend …. thank u, next.”

We can’t wait to see what antics Paulette and Ari Woods get up to in this portion of the video, but we also know Ari will be channelling her inner Jennifer Garner (a.k.a. Jenna Rink) in 13 Going on 30. (Who knows, maybe we’ll even get Noah Centineo as young Mark Ruffalo? We should be so lucky.)

Ari first teased 13 Going on 30 as another 25% of the video with a picture a dollhouse eerily similar to the one Jenna has in the film. She’s also been sporting a fresh shoulder-length cut that’s a really close match to Jenna’s (and her Twitter likes confirm the suspicion).

Ari has already confirmed that Mean Girls, Legally Blonde and 13 Going on 30 make up 75% of the visual references in “Thank u, next” on her Instagram Stories twice today. “Ok, you guessed the third! but there’s still one more so no tea. Tomorrow,” she wrote alongside a collage of the three iconic films.

One thing is sure: we love this kind of math, and we can’t wait until tomorrow to finally figure out the whole equation. Thank you again, “Thank u, next.”

The Spice Girls Reunion Tour Is Definitely Happening—Without Victoria Beckham

Attention Spice Girls superfans: The iconic ’90s pop music girl gang is heading out on a world tour—just don’t expect Victoria Beckham, aka “Posh,” to join them.

After months of will they or won’t they speculation surrounding the possibility of a reunion tour, the former pop stars finally confirmed the long-awaited plans today (November 5) on Twitter. In a spoof video sharing the news and details of the tour, the women were joined by singer Jess Glynne, to kick off ticket sales, which start Saturday. However, one of the group’s former bandmates was noticeably absent from the video.

Despite the initial belief that all five of the Spice Girls would potentially be touring together, Beckham quickly shot down those rumors in a post to her Instagram account Monday, where she announced she would not be joining the tour, but wished the rest of her former bandmates the best of luck.

“Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012! I won’t be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year. I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time! X vb #spicegirls #friendshipneverends”

Back in June, while speaking with Hoda Kotb on Today, Mel B (a.k.a. “Scary Spice”) seemed to confirm the possibility of a reunion tour, a move so many Spice World enthusiasts had been hoping for since the group’s final performance together in 2012.

“I’m the only one that keeps on saying we’re going to be performing, which, we are gonna be performing,” the star told Kotb on the air. “Finally, they’ve got it together. Yes. We are touring. Should I have really said that out loud? Yes, we are going to be doing performances together for sure.”

So while it seems as though Posh definitively will not be joining the rest of the Girls on their tour next year—at least we still have this video of her fist-pumping to “Spice Up Your Life.”
