Keanu Reeves Is Everyone's Favorite Actor

In a recent interview, Keanu Reeves reportedly revealed he’s a “lonely guy.” “I don’t have anyone in my life,” he adds, “but if it does occur, I would respect and love the other person. Hopefully it’ll happen for me.”

The story quickly went viral because, duh. Keanu Reeves, a national and cinematic treasure, is lonely? If that’s true I volunteer as tribute to keep him company. I’d cook Alison Roman’s spicy chickpea stew while we heart-to-heart about, like, where our souls go when we die. We’d have a really nice time, I think.

Others on social media feel the same way:

It’s heartbreaking to think Reeves is lonely because, like Tom Hanks and Chris Evans, he’s on a very short list of universally beloved men. There are multiple articles with the headline “Proof That Keanu Reeves Is the Nicest Guy in Hollywood” which is enough proof for me that he’s the nicest guy in Hollywood. His work is so iconic that a hip NYC theater is hosting a retrospective on his films this summer; in April, Glasgow, Scotland threw a KeanuCon festival. Even Sandy Bullock, literally Miss Congeniality, has a crush on him.

The good news: His rep told Huffington Post the interview was “fabricated.” Thank God Reeves is doing just fine, but the moment did lead to a discussion on social media—and among the Glamour team—about his allure. When I dropped the article into Slack, a conversation about our favorite things about Reeves quickly took off.

Khaliha Hawkins pointed to a lesser-known Reeves film, 1995’s A Walk in the Clouds, as proof of his versatility as an actor. “Keanu is known for his action roles, but he’s always been a rom-com star in my mind,” she explained. “A Walk in the Clouds is full of drama and rom-com tropes, so, this movie has it all.”

Samantha Leach said she keeps seeing nostalgic photos of Reeves in her Instagram feed, to her delight. “If you’re deep down the rabbit hole of ’90s nostalgia Instagram like I am, photos of Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix around the time of My Own Private Idaho pop up a lot,” she told me. “The smolder that guy gives off as a ’90s indie star is unreal, like, c’mon. More important, whenever he’s pictured with River Phoenix he looks so protective of him. River was struggling with addiction by that point and with every pose Keanu looks like he’s trying to convey, “Let me save you, River” through his eyes. It’s how much he cares that truly makes him sexy.”

For Kim Fusaro, the love for Reeves started early and hasn’t wavered. “I saw Keanu in Point Break in the theater because my friend’s mom escorted us, two pre-teens, to the counter and cleared us for tickets. It was my first in-the-theater rated R movie,” she said. “A decade later I went with the same friend to see Keanu’s band, Dogstar, at a shitty Providence, R.I., bar, another venue that we definitely weren’t old enough to be in. He was worth bending the rules and breaking the law for.”

I didn’t know Reeves has a band, but that only adds to my love for him. That surprising side of Reeves is what Christopher Rosa likes, too. “He’s a great actor—and so, so hot—but my love for him is rooted in something else entirely: conspiracy theories,” Rosa said. “There are so many wild rumors about Reeves on the Internet, and they’re either all true or all complete B.S. Like this one about how he paid for a stranger’s kidney transplant. Or when everyone was convinced he saved dozens of cats from euthanasia. And there’s the old folklore that he drives a Honda and lives in a normal apartment despite having millions. We do know he takes the subway, so perhaps that last one is true. Regardless, the Internet is out here posting theories about him like he’s a Game of Thrones character, and I’m here for it.”

5 Women Try Meghan Markle's Favorite Lipstick

The “Markle Effect”—i.e. the phenomenon of royal stans rushing to buy every outfit Meghan Markle leaves the house in—has been well documented by this point. Who hasn’t seriously considered impulse buying a tuxedo dress? But one of the less discussed abilities Markle holds is the power to make certain beauty products fly off the shelves. Take Tatcha’s Rice Polish, which promptly began selling out after headlines declared her love for it.

Unfortunately, Markle’s becoming royal means she’s no longer able to openly discuss her routine (which is why the source of Kate Middleton’s blowout was nearly impossible to pinpoint for so long). Luckily for us, because of her years spent in Hollywood, we already have some intel on her favorite products and makeup preferences—the biggest being the reason you’ll never see her in red lipstick.

Last year, Markle’s makeup artist Daniel Martin shared with People why she tends to favor nudes over bold shades like red or plum. “She likes to talk and she’s not a fussy person, so she doesn’t want to have to worry about anything,” he said. Naturally, you can imagine this sent the Internet into a tailspin, and rumors flew abound about what her mystery shade could be. And while we’ll never have official palace confirmation, word on the street is that her perfect nude is Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria.

It’s a makeup artist favorite, constant best-seller, and it’s actually got a rather interesting connection to one of Markle’s wedding guests. Like many of Tilbury’s lipsticks, the shade is named after one of her celebrity muses—which in this case, refers to the woman formerly known as Posh Spice. Very Victoria is designed to compliment Victoria Beckham’s signature smoky eye, and has a dusty-pink tint to give it a bit of warmth, which helps make nudes feel more wearable. It’s also got a reputation for looking great on a range of skin tones.

It’ll probably only be matter of time until Tilbury creates a custom lipstick exclusively named after Meghan. In early 2018, she made a satin-finish tea-rose pink lipstick called The Duchess, inspired by Kate Middleton’s go-to nude. She’s also got a Matte Revolution shade designed after the head of the monarchy, herself, The Queen, a cerise-pink matte that instantly became a top-seller.

Until then, there’s Victoria. To see if the Markle Sparkle carries over to those of us who aren’t legitimate royalty, we had five Glamour staffers put Very Victoria to the test. Read on for our honest thoughts.

I’m a huge fan of every Charlotte Tilbury product I’ve ever tried, and Very Victoria is no different. Firstly, I loved the creamy texture and how moisturizing it felt on my lips, especially for a matte lipstick. As for the color, as someone who usually goes for a bright lip, I actually really loved this one. It picked up the pinker undertones on my skin and wasn’t as brown on my lips as it was in the tube which was a pleasant surprise.

This lipstick is very similar to my all time favorite lip color, Nars Sheer Lipstick in Falbala. They’re both very similar to my natural lip color, but this one is a little more matte and pink. It was easy to put on and didn’t require a lot of effort to make it work, but didn’t have as much hydration as my usual lipsticks.

It’s hard to find a good neutral lipstick but this one is perfect. Not only does it match my lip color nicely, but I thought it actually made my lips look a little bigger. I was also worried it would look strange with my colored eyeliner (I’ve been wearing a different color every day, recently) but it really pulled the look together. This may just be my new go-to.

I Tried Kim Kardashian's Favorite Laser Skin-Tightening Treatment

I tolerate pain pretty well, but those sharp twinges really hurt. “It’s actually the ultrasound gel popping,” he tells me. “Like if you put oil in a frying pan, and the oil pops.” I squirm, but I’m determined to be as tough as I can in the name of a firmer jaw line.

Thankfully, the pain lasts only for a moment, and by the time I feel like I can’t take much more of it, he’s moved the laser on to a different part of my face. I’m normally a talkative patient, but even I’m not up to being too chatty. This is new to me.

I know what you’re probably thinking: If you’re going to submit yourself to any kind of pain—what does it cost? The price differs depending on who you go to, but Dr. Dugar says it’s around $800 a session for your face (Exilis laser skin tightening can be performed on other body parts as well). Like with most procedures that recommend multiple treatments, the more you sign up for at a time, the lower the cost. So far I’m just doing one session, but if I notice a visible difference, I’ll consider coming back for more—pain be damned.

Dr. Dugar likens the frequency of visits to when you were a teenager and could go to the gym once a week and stay in shape. Of course, as we age and metabolism slows, it takes more effort to maintain your physique. Dr. Dugar says I’ll see results for a few weeks at least with one treatment. After that, “the key is repetitive treatments”—usually one a month, for anywhere up to six to 10 sessions. It’s costly, but perhaps not much more than if you swap out bi-weekly facials, regular blow-outs, and expensive skin creams.

About 20 minutes later, the whole thing was done. He says he spent eight minutes on each side of my face with the laser, applying the highest intensity of the wattage to treat my jowls and jaw line. This is done in order “to get a little bit more stimulation of the collage to tighten.” My face is pretty red, but Dr. Dugar says that will reduce dramatically over the next few hours.

While Exilis prides itself on no downtime, I also wouldn’t necessarily want to go out to a big event or on a date the same night. If there was ever an excuse to stay in and watch TV, this is it. Still, Dr. Dugar tells me that I shouldn’t be afraid of doing my nighttime skin routine. “You can do everything normal because this is not a resurfacing laser,” he says.

Before I leave, Dr. Dugar applies a gold cooling mask to help calm my skin (which in all fairness, was breaking out pretty bad these last few days). The cooling sensation is so calming I’m tempted to stay here all day. Also, I look like C3-PO.

I say my goodbyes and thank Dr. Dugar and his staff; he says to call or email with any questions, and instead of pushing a second treatment on me, he says to take a few weeks to see how I like the results. It’s up to me if I want to continue for more. By the time I get to my car, I notice the redness in my face has disappeared quite considerably. (I’m still sticking to my plan of ordering in and watching TV, though).

The next day, aside from a patch of red skin near my chin, there’s barely any noticeable trace of the treatment. And if I forgot to mention, once the treatment was done, any sharp pain that I felt was gone. So if you can tolerate a few seconds of extreme heat, you’ll be OK.

By the afternoon, I’ve applied a full face of makeup and as crazy as it sounds, I actually feel that my face is a bit firmer. It looks it, too. I feel like I’ve gone off to some five-star resort and spa for the week, and I honestly can’t remember the last time I said that (or even meant it). In other words, I’m a fan.

Kit Harington's Favorite 'Game of Thrones' Scene Is Definitely Not What You'd Expect

Kit Harington has revealed what his favorite Game of Thrones scene with wife Rose Leslie is—and we absolutely did not see this answer coming. The pair, who played on-screen couple Jon Snow and Ygritte, had plenty of memorable moments together, but the actor’s favorite scene together was somewhat surprising, to say the least.

“I liked her death. I know, it sounds bizarre. I thought she nailed that. And it’s the first time in Thrones that slow motion was used, and I think it’s a beautiful, cradling moment as this battle is raging in the background. It was one of those incredible shots,” he told People.

In the scene, which takes places during the show’s Season 4 penultimate episode, titled “The Watchers on the Wall,” Leslie’s character Ygritte and the wildlings attack Castle Black in an epic battle. But when she encounters Jon—a.k.a. the love of her life—she hesitates to shoot him and is shot in the back by a little boy named Olly, whose father she killed in an earlier episode.

Jon rushes to hold Ygritte during her last moments, in which she asks him if he remembers the cave they first made love. She says she wishes they could have stayed in that cave forever, and when Jon insists they’ll return one day, she iconically replies, “You know nothing, Jon Snow.”

[embedded content]

It was a sad episode for fans who had hoped Jon and Ygritte would be together despite their differences. However, the fact that they fell in love on set and later got married in real life was enough to get us through the TV heartbreak.

As for whether we’ll ever see the two together on screen again, Harington said it’s very unlikely. “The saddest thing is that we may never be cast again together because we’re too synonymous with Thrones,” he explained. “It’s gonna be hard to get away from that. I’d love to work with Rose, but we’re married, and we played these lovers, so are we ever going to get to do that?”

New episodes of the final season of Game of Thrones air on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

Diane Keaton Is My Favorite Instagram Fashion Influencer

It was, as Kris Jenner would say, “a case for the FBI.”

When Diane Keaton posted an Instagram of herself in high-waisted, wide-legged pants, the Internet went into a frenzy. The caption read, in all-caps: “I’VE NEVER RECEIVED MORE COMPLIMENTS ON ANYTHING I’VE EVER WORN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.” While Keaton shared everything about where she’d worn the pants—”ON THE PLANE, IN THE HOTEL DUPONT, IN THE DELAWARE ART MUSEUM, ON A LONG WALK THROUGH THE WILMINGTON STREETS”—she neglected to mention who the hell designed them.

The people had questions.

Gwyneth Paltrow asked who made them. Jennifer Garner replied to Paltrow’s comment, reiterating the query. Debra Messing shared her love for the pockets—and desire to know where they came from. Tracee Ellis Ross wrote, “you are my hero!” Dozens of non-famous people joined in.

In a matter of days, Keaton’s chaps became the most inquired-about trousers since The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants made us wonder how one pair of jeans could perfectly fit four differently-bodied friends. (If you’ve ever shopped at Brandy Melville, you know there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all.) Days later, she finally addressed the situation: In a #notanad post, Keaton revealed that the now-iconic pants were from Maison Margiela. But alas, they were sold out online.

This is far from the first time Keaton has gone viral for a look, or impressed me with her fashion choices. I became infatuated with Keaton’s style in the little-known, yet entirely iconic film, Because I Said So. Her pearls! Her polka dots! My god. When I ventured deeper into the canon of Keaton, I was just as knocked out by her menswear in Annie Hall, and the trendsetting suits she’s been wearing on the red carpet ever since. Finally, I watched Something’s Gotta Give and loved her linens so much, I wanted to swathe myself in neutral tones and rock what Man Repeller has deemed, “menocore.”

Much has been written about Keaton’s wardrobe over the years. Her outfits have been analyzed and Pinterested ad nauseam. The way she uses the ‘gram to share her fashion, specifically, though, felt new and different to me. She’s being truly, unabashedly her, and taking her followers on this journey of exploring trends and garments with her. And I can’t get enough.

Keaton first joined Instagram, only slightly late to the party, in the spring of 2015. At first, she went the artsy route, spamming her feed with shots of sculptures, vintage photos, and for whatever reason, portraits of clowns (all while intermittently promo’ing the latest offerings from her wine label, The Keaton Wine, like a boss). But by 2018—after some trial and error—Keaton’s account entered it’s final form: full-on fashion influencer.

The best way to describe her current style is “Diane Keaton, unleashed.” As her 888,000 followers know, Keaton doesn’t employ a stylist. Her outfits typically consist of black and white skirts or dresses, as well as the occasional pant, paired with jewelry in the same palette and statement shoes—like, heeled boots decorated with fire flames. I can’t get enough.

What’s so refreshing about Keaton’s Instagram for me is how, in a world of Facetune and overly-staged selfies, Keaton isn’t trying to portray a perfect life on her page. Her photos are whacky. She writes in all-caps, and uses videos when a simple photo would suffice. Sometimes she manages to get her head in her #OOD shots—but most of the time, she fails.

Blake Lively Shares Her Favorite Drugstore Beauty Products, Including a $15 Sunscreen

For someone as glam as Blake Lively, spring cleaning means purging your makeup drawer. The actress did just that recently and used the clean-out as an opportunity to share her favorite beauty products with fans via Instagram Story.

Lively’s collection includes a mix of red-carpet classics (like Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips Liquid Lipstick) and prestige pieces (like Diorshow Mascara). But a few drugstore buys were also nestled in her collection. When it comes to her skin, Lively almost certainly has a celebrity dermatologist, a regular facialist, and the occasional team of air-brushers. But for the most important product in anyone’s skin-care routine—sunscreen—she spends only $15 at her local drugstore.

Lively’s go-to sun protection is CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 with Zinc Oxide, a best-selling simple formula that works well for daily use.

Blake Lively

For her lips, Lively shared that one of her go-to lipsticks is Christian Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Colour, one of the most expensive in the world at $90. But before she layers on a few dollars worth of color, she preps with classic Burt’s Bees lip balm.

While there’s nothing more relatable than scattered lip balms rolling around a makeup drawer, Lively also shared a couple of more indulgent skin care picks. She’s a fan of By Terry Cellularose Brightening CC Lumi-Serum ($91) and Darphin Environmental Lightweight Shield ($48).

Whether you go prestige or grab whatever’s cheapest at the drugstore, let’s take two lessons from Lively this spring: Wear sunscreen and don’t forget to clean out your makeup drawer.
