Rose Leslie Was Just Photographed Wearing Her Engagement Ring From Kit Harington

Game of Thrones fans across the world rejoiced on September 26 when co-stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie confirmed their IRL engagement. “The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire,” the ad the couple took out in The Sunday Times read. (Yes, Harington and Leslie announced their engagement via newspaper, which is the classiest and most iconic thing ever.)

Also iconic? Harington’s proposal to Leslie, which he opened up about to Jonathan Ross last week. Apparently, he’d set everything up perfectly—mood lighting, candles, the works—but it all fell apart when he asked the golden question a little prematurely. “I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff, but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early,” he said, according to The Sun. He quickly clarified his interesting choice of words by saying, “I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load…Sorry, that’s a really bad expression.”

Yes, Harington and Leslie’s engagement has truly been one charming story after the next. And the excitement continues tonight with new photos of Leslie wearing—wait for it—her engagement ring in public.

E! reports paparazzi caught Leslie at Heathrow Airport on Sunday (October 8) with the new, gorgeous ring on her finger. Check it out for yourself, below. It literally deserves its own Iron Throne.

There’s no word yet on when Leslie and Harington plan to tie the knot, but Harington told Ross that it will be a Game of Thrones cast affair. “I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding, by the way,'” he said, per The Sun. “They [the cast] have all got to be there, so the whole thing has got to shut down.”

Kit Harington and Rose Leslie Confirmed Their Engagement With a Formal Newspaper Announcement

Yesterday, rumors started swirling that Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie were engaged. A source told The Sun, “Kit’s known for ages he’s wanted to marry Rose, but he wanted them to get a house and settle down a bit first…After moving in together in January, he felt it was the right time to take the next step.” We urged everyone yesterday to take this report with a grain of salt. In the world of celebrity engagements, nothing is officially official until the stars themselves confirm it.

And now Harington and Leslie have. The couple, who went public with their relationship in April 2016, took out space in Tuesday’s Times newspaper to formally announce they’re tying the knot.

“The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire,” the Times spot reads.

Check it for yourself, via a tweet from BBC journalist Lizo Mzimba, below:

Leave it to two British actors to deliver one of pop-culture’s fanciest—and most classic—engagement confirmations. Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter, another pair of chic Brits, also announced their engagement via the Times in 2014.

Harington revealed to Italian Vogue in May 2016 when and how he fell in love with Leslie. “The three weeks in Iceland when we were shooting the second season,” he said. “Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love. If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love…”

Prince William Responds With a Laugh to Comment About Prince Harry's Rumored Engagement

PHOTO: Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images

The royal family is staying mum on the topic of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s engagement—namely, whether it already happened or will be happening in the very near future. Most recently Prince William deflected a comment about his younger brother’s potential nuptials with the tried-and-true strategy of laughing awkwardly and changing the subject.

According to People, William paid a visit to William Cowley Parchment Makers, which provides the vellum used for royal and Parliament documents, in the English town of Milton Keynes on Tuesday. Paul Wright, William Cowley’s general manager, told the magazine that he oh-so-casually mentioned to Will that “if Prince Harry marries Meghan, then his certificate will be in our vellum.” In response, William “just laughed—a nice laugh,” Wright said.

Although it’s not much to go on, Prince William’s “nice laugh” is the only comment any member of the royal family has made regarding the engagement (besides Markle’s own coy, wordless smile when asked earlier this summer whether she was planning on taking a trip down the aisle anytime soon), so feel free to perform an unnecessarily deep, obsessive analysis on this sparing report.

The “nice laugh” heard ’round the world took place less than 24 hours after Markle and Prince Harry made their first joint appearance at the Invictus Games in Toronto. On Monday the lovebirds attended a wheelchair tennis match together and then held hands (!) while walking around the event grounds. Notably, the Suits actress was wearing a white button-down shirt from designer Misha Nonoo that’s called the—wait for it—Husband blouse. Be still, our British-royals-loving hearts.

Engagement rumors have been swirling around Harry, 33, and Markle, 36, for months. In July multiple sources reported that a proposal was “fast approaching.” The rumors only increased when, in the span of a few weeks in late August and early September, Harry was reported to be working closely with a jeweler, the pair vacationed in the exact same location in Africa where Prince Harry proposed to Kate, and Markle met Queen Elizabeth.

And if all of that weren’t enough confirmation that an engagement is truly imminent, Markle finally broke her silence on the one-year relationship in the October issue of Vanity Fair. “We’re two people who are really happy and in love,” she said. “We’re a couple. We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
