Here's Why You Won't Be Able to Get a Replica of Meghan Markle's Engagement Ring

If you’ve been subtly dropping hints to your S.O. about hopping across the pond to get your own replica of the engagement ring Prince Harry gave to Meghan Markle—casual!—think again: The jewelry company behind the ring won’t be making replicas.

Stephen Connelly, the director of the London-based Cleave and Company, told the Associated Press that the media attention the company has received since the couple’s engagement announcement has been “a bit of a shock.”

“We’re not going to be making replicas of it,” he said. “If you want a ring, then we’ll design you a different one.”

Harry worked with Connelly’s team to design the gorgeous three-diamond ring. The biggest diamond, in the middle, was sourced from Botswana, where the couple spent time at the beginning of their relationship. The two diamonds on either side were chosen from his mother Princess Diana’s collection. And everything is set in yellow gold, Markle’s favorite.

According to the AP, David Thomas, a former Crown Jeweler who now works with Cleave and Company, said that working on the couple’s was the “biggest and hardest secret” he’s ever had to keep. He said that the press has bombarded him with questions, but he refuses to answer out of respect for the couple’s privacy. “Jewelers are like doctors: We never discuss our patients!” he said. (He also refuses to share how much the ring cost.)

If you absolutely need to see what the ring would look like on your finger, you can virtually try it on. It’s not the same, but it’ll have to do.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Did Their First Official Engagement as a Couple

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had quite the week. The excitement kicked off Monday morning, when the couple officially announced their engagement. They followed this up with a gorgeous (but short) photo call and then a sit-down interview, where Prince Harry revealed how he proposed—roast chicken was involved—and the world learned a little more about Markle, who was best known for her role on Suits before this royal insanity began. Kensington Palace announced shortly after that Markle and Prince Harry would be completing their first engagement as a couple on Friday (December 1) at the Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity in Nottingham.

And that day has come: Photos popped up on the Internet earlier this morning of Markle and Prince Harry at the event—shaking hands with citizens, smiling, accepting flowers—and they look almost too perfect for words. Don’t believe me? Check out these photos for yourself, below, and prepare to love Markle and Prince Harry more than you already do.

How many people in this crowd do you think have seen Suits?

Kensington Palace hasn’t announced any more engagements for the couple yet. If the rapturous response here is any indication, though, Markle’s going to have a full schedule on her hands.

Kate Middleton and Prince William Are 'Absolutely Thrilled' About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Engagement

While the whole royal family is undoubtedly over the moon about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement, Kate Middleton could be the happiest of all since, come next spring, she’ll no longer be the only commoner living at Kensington Palace. During a visit to London’s Foundling Museum on Tuesday morning to learn about their art therapy programs and meet families who have been a part of the museum’s education and outreach program, the mom-to-be spoke about how happy she and Prince William are to welcome Markle into the family.

“William and I are absolutely thrilled,” she told reporters outside the museum, according to People. “It’s such exciting news. It’s a really happy time for any couple, and we wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment.” This echoed the royal couple’s previous statement about the engagement. “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together,” they said on Monday, shortly after Markle and Prince Harry’s engagement was announced via the official Clarence House Twitter account.

According to the statement, the royal wedding will take place in spring 2018, although it’s unclear whether Harry and Meghan will tie the knot before or after Middleton gives birth to her third child in April 2018. In the meantime, however, the statement notes, the Suits star will move into Nottingham Cottage, Prince Harry’s home right next door to Will and Kate’s massive Apartment 1A on the Kensington Palace grounds—so the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will have plenty of time to get to know their sister-in-law-to-be by the time the wedding rolls around. No word yet on whether Markle has already been roped into babysitting duty for Prince George and Princess Charlotte, but we can only assume that they’re as thrilled as their parents to welcome their new aunt into the family.

The Brand That Made Meghan Markle's Engagement Coat Is Renaming it the 'Meghan'

The Internet all but combusted this morning when Kensington Palace announced that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were officially engaged. Then, there was a formal photo call at Kensington Palace’s Sunken Gardens, which sparked another round of overjoyed fan reactions. To top it all off, the 36-year-old actress stepped out with new fiancé wearing a coat that sent everyone into yet another spiral.

Everyone had questions after seeing Markle and Prince Harry together as a newly engaged couple—mainly, what’s the story behind her sparkly engagement ring, and which lucky designers dressed her for the big reveal? The makers of Markle’s first royal look have thankfully been identified: She opted for a white coat by Canadian brand Line the Label, a green dress by P.A.R.O.S.H., and heels by Aquazurra.

Shortly after the outfit credits were identified, Markle’s exact Line the Label coat sold out, with the brand reportedly experiencing some technical difficulties amid all the royal excitement.

John Muscat, President and Co-Founder of Line the Label, released a statement shortly after the sighting: “We are incredibly honored that Meghan chose to wear a LINE coat to mark this very special occasion. Meghan has an effortlessly chic sense of style, which we’ve always admired.”

Markle has been a fan of the brand for some time now. Before the engagement photo call, the Suits star wore trench coat by the knitwear brand to the Invictus games back in September. (This was also the first time she stepped out publicly with Prince Harry.)

Given all this excitement (and Markle’s love for the brand), Muscat announced that Line the Label would be renaming the coat she wore to the photo call after the future royal. “We know this particular coat is one of her favorite pieces so we have officially decided to name it the ‘Meghan,” he said in a statement. “We are elated for Meghan and wish her a lifetime of happiness with Prince Harry.”

While all that interest in the newly dubbed ‘Meghan’ coat wiped the retailer clean of inventory, there’s still hope if you’re dying for Markle’s exact outerwear: A representative for Line the Label tells Glamour that you can place an order for the coat by sending an email to line@nkpr.net. The Meghan coat retails for $799 Canadian dollars, which is about $626.50 in U.S. dollars at the current exchange rate.

While LINE is a clear Markle favorite, her garments from other retailers have also attracted some serious traffic. Last September, her burgundy dress from Aritzia and her white ‘Husband’ button-down from Misha Nonoo were also swiped up fast by royal fans. Safe to say that we’ll likely get even more iconic—and instantly sold-out—fashion moments from the bride-to-be in the months ahead.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas' Engagement Party Was L-I-T

Sophie Turner, of Game of Thrones, and Joe Jonas, of DNCE and formerly of a certain eponymous late-2000s boy band composed of brothers, are engaged. The two announced they’d be getting hitched mid-October after a year-ish of dating—marking the commitment with a stunning pear-shaped ring for her. On Saturday night, they had a party at Mamo in New York City to celebrate the wedding (date still TBD, y’all).

Honestly? The soiree for Jophie—we cannot handle this portmanteau; it is too good—looked incredible. We just know our invitations got lost in the mail. First, the guest list was great: the full pack of Jonas brothers, plus Ashley Graham, Ansel Elgort and Spider-Man star Tom Holland. There was an impromptu concert from Joe, who sang “Cake by the Ocean,” a friend’s rendition of “I Would Do Anything for Love,” and sparklers for toasting that soon became fake swords.

For further proof, all you have to do is look at the evidence. Instagram evidence, that is. And there is plenty of it.

We present Exhibit A, a series of photos from what looks like that amazing, Kardashian-approved photo booth that makes your face look (even more!) #flawless.

Exhibit B: More photobooth evidence from Jonas’ bro, Nick.

Exhibit C: Turner followed up this morning with a photo of her in sweats and sunglasses, both of which might have been necessary after their thoroughly lit party.

Case closed! If this is how their engagement kicks off, we can’t wait to see their wedding pics. Congrats to the two lovebirds!
