This year, though, we’re approaching those all-too-familiar tops with a different outlook. Rather than remaining the pure staple we’re required to wear on windy days, turtlenecks have been upgraded to the chicest of winter essentials. Yes, those high necks are still, plainly, useful and effective when a sudden cold front rolls in; but they’re also the foundation for all sorts of outfits—tucked into a long skirt, paired with high-waisted vintage denim, layered under a colorful coat. Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's Christmas Day Outfits Are a Gift to Us All


Meghan Markle might be breaking royal protocol by spending Christmas with her fiancé, Prince Harry, but there’s one protocol she’s sticking to: dressing impeccably for royal outings. Meghan joined the royal family for her very first Christmas Day service, and she’s already proving that she can keep up with her famously fashionable almost-sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.

The soon-to-be family members arrived for Christmas Day services at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, and the coats alone were probably enough to make the expectant crowd’s wait to see the royal family worth it (some of them had arrived at 2:30 A.M. to catch a glimpse!).

Meghan stepped out wearing a tan wide-collar Sentaler coat and very on-trend circular Chloé bag. She topped of the ensemble with a Philip Treacy fascinator-ish hat, leather gloves, and suede Stuart Weitzman boots.

Kate went super festive in a Christmas tartan Miu Miu coat embellished by a double row of brass buttons and topped off with a delightful fur hat. The $2,200 coat is, of course, sold out now, so a very merry Christmas to all you new Kate coat owners indeed.

Nick Jonas Gushing Over Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Engagement Will Make Your Day


In one of the entertainment universe’s unlikeliest pairings, Game of Thrones and the Jonas Brothers are now connected. Meaning, of course, that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are getting married—and according to friends and family, everyone is very excited for the the two stars, who have been together for just over a year. But one family member sitting on the Jonas’ side of the aisle is beyond stoked: Joe’s younger brother, Nick Jonas, who made his fan status known this week when he opened up on Friday about his feelings about his brother’s relationship.

“I am very close with Joe. We live together in L.A.; we spend most of the time that we have off together, so I would say that I know him pretty well at this point,” he told People. “It was pretty clear to me early on that this relationship was one that was sort of meant to be, in a sense.”

His gushing continued: “Their connection’s beautiful and their support system with each other is incredible and everything that you hope you find in your soulmate, and I’m really happy for them.”

Nick has celebrated his brother and future sister-in-law’s relationship on social media before. In May he posted a photo of the couple getting cozy at the Met Gala with the caption, “These two ❤️.”

And when Joe and Sophie announced their engagement, he was quick to repost his brother’s Instagram photo with the caption, “Ahh! Congratulations to my brother… and sister in law to be on your engagement. I love you both so much.”

He’s even tried to make the couple’s nickname, “Jophie,” happen with his Instagram from their recent engagement party, writing, “Beautiful night celebrating beautiful people. #JOPHIE”

We don’t know if “Jophie” will ever actually happen, but we do know that this kind of brotherly love is super sweet.

The Most Popular Day of the Year to Work Out Might Not Be What You Think


Every year, New Years Resolutioners lace up their sneakers after their hangovers wear off to take their shiny new gym memberships for a test spin before retiring them at some point, presumably a few weeks later. But according to new data from Classpass, the most popular day to work out is not January 2nd. It’s not even in January. It’s February 28th. Surprising, right!? The fitness-class-booking service analyzed data from nearly 40 million fitness reservations made this year to collect info on 2017’s fitness trends. In addition to discovering that February 28th was the most popular day to sweat, they also found that Tuesday is the most common day of the week to take a class (perhaps less surprisingly, February 28th, 2017 was a Tuesday). There’s not a clear reason that 2/28 took the top spot, but some combo of chilly weather and the fact that it was a Tuesday seem to have played a role.

Some other stats from the survey worth noting: 6:30 p.m. is the most popular class time on weekdays, while 10am takes the top spot on weekends (seems early, but whatever works!). Strength training is the most popular class offering overall, but the workout of choice does vary a bit by city: Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston all prefer Pilates; Seattle, Portland, Raleigh, Columbus, Ohio and Kansas City, Missouri chose yoga; the top pick in Washington D.C. and Austin is indoor cycling; and in Orlando users love barre classes. (Strength training won in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Tampa, Nashville, St. Louis, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego.)

The data didn’t just look back at the year that was: Classpass forecasts that the next big workout trend for 2018 will be meditation, restorative, and recovery classes. Already in 2017 users taking those types of classes has grown by 16 percent, so odds are pretty good that the number will continue to climb next year. Namaste.

Selena Gomez is the latest to join this elite club of very style-savvy celebrities, packing in a whopping five outfits into a 24-hour period. The performer is in London promoting her music, but she’s also used it as an opportunity to serve some serious lewks. And honestly, if we had as many fire outfits as Gomez packed for this quick trip across the pond, we’d probably do the same. Across the board, she stuck to dark, wintry colors and a pair of cat-eye sunglasses that made us want to raid her closet ASAP (or, more realistically, appoint her the unofficial party-outfit muse for this season).
