Here's Why Miley Cyrus Doesn't Like Being Called Liam Hemsworth's 'Wife'


In a new interview with Elle magazine, Miley Cyrus gives a little more insight into her marriage to Liam Hemsworth⁠—specifically why she prefers being called his “partner” instead of his “wife.”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you know Hemsworth and Cyrus tied the knot last December in an intimate ceremony in Tennessee. The couple has been quite transparent about their relationship. In February, Hemsworth opened up about Cyrus’ decision to take his last name. “She’ll still be obviously known as Miley Cyrus, but she did [take my name],” he confirmed on Live With Kelly and Ryan. “She took my name, which was great. I think that was honestly one of the best things about it. I didn’t ask her to take my name, and then she’s like, ‘No, of course I’ll take your name.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s awesome. That’s really good. Thank you.’”

This move might seem traditional, but Cyrus tells Elle that her marriage is anything but.

“I think it’s very confusing to people that I’m married,” she says. “But my relationship is unique. And I don’t know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it’s so complex, and modern, and new that I don’t think we’re in a place where people would get it. I mean, do people really think that I’m at home in a fucking apron cooking dinner? I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women. People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still fucking good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word.”

She expanded on that last point further, saying, she prefers the term partners: “’Husband and wife’ sounds like a cigarette commercial from the ’50s to me.”

Whatever they choose to call each other, Cyrus and Hemsworth’s love is rock solid and real. In January, she wrote the sweetest tribute to Hemsworth for his birthday. “I love how you’ll sit and listen to me pluck out a new tune on the guitar for hours…. I love the way you mumble out loud when you read a new script or book,” she posted on Instagram. “I love how you learn and grow. I love writing songs about you on the piano. I love how you let ME be ME.”

Miley Cyrus Is Selling $20 Condoms, Because of Course She Is


One of the things that makes Miley Cyrus one of the most-followable celebrities is that you can never quite guess what she’s going to do next—but you can count on the fact that it will be seriously entertaining. Once she broke free out of her Hannah Montana child-star mode, all bets were off.

Of course, the one constant over the years has been Cyrus’s incredible voice—and her range: She ranges stylistically from country to pop, with a sprinkling of hip hop and rock as well. And in the lead-up to the release of her latest six-song EP on Friday, she was even more extra than usual on Instagram, prompting a Glamour deep dive into what was going on when she started asking her followers things like whether they’d rather “top like Taylor” or “twerk like Miley.”

The EP, titled She Is Coming (yes, that does have a double meaning), dropped at midnight on Friday and, along with it, a ton of merchandise on her official website. I was exactly 0-percent surprised but 100-percent psyched to see her once again pushing some boundaries with items that are totally NSFW—but very on-brand.

Gotta say, I’m not sure I saw the branded condom, uh, coming though. Yes, that’s right: Miley is selling a $20 “She Is Coming” condom—and yep, that’s a condom, as they’re sold individually. But before you freak out about the cost, it also comes with a digital download of the album (I’m assuming she’d be proud to have people practicing safe sex while listening to her latest bops).

There is a “She Came” T-shirt:

Honestly, I will never get enough of Miley’s antics—and fortunately for all of us, she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Miley Cyrus Just Addressed the Rumor She Feuded With Demi and Selena During Their Disney Years


Let me take you back to 2009: Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez were all queens on Disney Channel, and there were rumors that they hated each other. Well, it was more so Cyrus versus Gomez and Lovato. There were opposing YouTube channels, squabbles over boys—all the makings of catfight fodder that fed tabloids for years.

But none of it was grounded in reality. Gomez confirmed as much in 2016, telling W magazine that she and Cyrus “never feuded.” And now Cyrus is echoing this sentiment. In a new interview with Capital FM, the Younger Now singer says there was never any competition between herself, Gomez, and Lovato. She mentioned this while defending these lyrics in her new song, “Cattitude”: “I love you Nicki, but I listen to Cardi.” Some fans thought these words were fueling the alleged feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, but Cyrus says they do just the opposite.

“I don’t think there is beef now anymore,” Cyrus told Capital FM in regards to the rappers. “I think that you’re allowed to enjoy two artists who fill a similar lane.”

Just like fans can enjoy Cyrus’ music and Gomez’s and Lovato’s. “I just always grew up collaborating with Selena [Gomez] and Demi [Lovato], and there was never competition. Ariana [Grande] is one of my best friends,” she said.

Selena Gomez's Cannes Makeup Had a Secret Nod to Miley Cyrus


Selena Gomez walked the famous Cannes Film Festival red carpet for the first time yesterday to promote her upcoming new movie, The Dead Don’t Die. From her white two-piece Louis Vuitton dress to some serious bling in the form of a Bulgari diamond necklace and ring, she looked incredible.

But what we really need to talk about is Gomez’s ridiculously good glam, specifically her makeup. The vibe was a modern take on Old Hollywood with a classic red lip and a cat-eye by makeup artist Hung Vanngo using Marc Jacobs Beauty. It also had a hidden nod to fellow former Disney star, Miley Cyrus. Vanngo used Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in Oh Miley 200 ($32), a strawberry red shade inspired by the singer, on Gomez to give her lips a pop of color.

That wasn’t even the only pop star connection with her look. Vanngo revealed that he also used the brand’s Youthquake Hydra-Full Retexturizing Gel Crème ($59), which was Lady Gaga‘s secret skin weapon during awards season and the Met Gala. (Gaga’s longtime makeup artist Sarah Tanno is an ambassador for the brand, so she got to test it out secretly for months before it hit shelves this month.)

Vanngo also used Accomplice Concealer & Touch-Up Stick in L23 ($32) and Accomplice Instant Blurring Beauty Powder in Siren 52 ($49) to create even more of a glow before adding O!Mega Bronzer Coconut Perfect Tan in Tan-Tastic! ($49) and Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in 506 Flesh & Fantasy ($42) for a touch of warmth.

And to balance Gomez’s bold red lip, Vanngo created a sparkly cat-eye. (Perhaps Taylor Swift was the inspiration?) Here’s how to re-create it for yourself.

First apply a light layer of See-quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadow in Flashlight ($28) to give your lids that glittery look. Next, use the Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner—inspired by calligraphy pens—in Blacquer ($30) to create a bold wing liner that emphasizes your eye shape. Then, finish with a few coats of Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($26).

The final result? Flawless. If only a makeup look could win the Palme d’Or.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Were the Real Heroes at Last Night’s ‘Avengers’ Premiere


Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth may not star in Avengers: Endgame, but they were the real heroes at the movie’s world premiere, which took place Monay night, April 22, in Hollywood. Amid a sea of stoic, smiling actors, Cyrus and Hemsworth were candid breaths of fresh air: They spent half their time on the red carpet goofing off, laughing, and—wait for it—licking each other.

But we’ll get to that later. First, let’s go through how Hemsworth and Cyrus started the night: in their car jamming out, decked out in formal wear. They basically were you and your date going to prom, just way fancier.

Cyrus posted a very cute video of this moment to her Instagram Story. As Hemsworth belts out a love song, she pans the camera to her and says, “He’s talking about me.” These two are so in love it’s bananas. To think all this happened because of a Nicholas Sparks movie adaptation that has a 20 percent on Rotten Tomatoes!

Their arrival to the actual Avengers red carpet was iconic. Cyrus stuck out her tongue. Hemsworth wore cool sunglasses. Rich people do the wackiest things.

At one point, Cyrus looked back at Hemsworth just to stare at him. Wouldn’t you do the same thing if you were married to Liam Hemsworth?

In my mind, Cyrus’ gesture, below, is code for “Yes, my husband is hot and my hair looks like Hannah Montana‘s. Try not to faint.”

I’m not quite sure what’s happening here. Either Hemsworth made a joke and Cyrus is trying to suppress her laugh. Or she’s thinking about how her Can’t Be Tamed album deserved better.

What’s Going on With Miley Cyrus’ Instagram? An Investigation


Miley Cyrus has been especially extra on Instagram these past few days for the best reason. The “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” singer is on a meme-posting spree in honor of International Women’s Day, which was last Friday, March 8. The day may have passed, but that hasn’t stopped her from tributing her favorite women, though. What did you expect? She can’t be tamed!

If you thought Cyrus would celebrate this important holiday by just posting some cute pics and captions then, well, you don’t know Miley Cyrus. She kicked off Valentine’s Day by sending her husband, Liam Hemsworth, an NSFW meme. Hell, she kicked off 2014 by sliding down a giant blow-up of her tongue. Of course, her International Women’s Day tributes are delightfully bizarre.

Let’s start with her shout-out to Nicki Minaj, which includes a GIF of the two at the 2015 Grammys and the hashtags “#Top” and “#TopEnergy.” It’s 2019, so I’ll just let you make of that what you will.

She then asked her 87.3 million followers if they wanted to “top like Taylor” or “twerk like Miley.” I don’t know what’s going on here, but I suddenly think Cyrus should run in the 2020 presidential race.

Cyrus extended International Women’s Day into Monday (March 11) with this throwback video of herself and Rihanna singing at a Stand Up to Cancer event. Remember this time? When Cyrus sang “7 Things” and Rihanna sang…anything? Seriously, RiRi, where’s #R9?

Speaking of “7 Things”—an anthem for the ages—Cyrus then posted a throwback video of her singing it to Selena Gomez. “Your generation = 7 Rings MY generation = 7 Things,” she captioned it. (“7 Things” came out 11 years ago, by the way. Let that sink in.)

Here’s where Cyrus’ IG activity gets confusing. She’s keeping up her weird theme, but there’s no reason behind the posts. Here she’s asking Ariana Grande to do a cover of this ring tone (?) called “Miley Slays.” Is this a preview of the new album? “Miley Slays” could be the bop we’ve been waiting for.

She followed this up with a Teletubbies video and, below it, complains about sweating. I’m just as mystified as you are.

As is Nick Jonas. He DM-ed Cyrus to compliment her on her string of throwback posts. If I could DM her, I’d be like, “Love all the #IWD tributes, but also what the hell is happening?”

Miley really is just being Miley, I guess. That’s probably the only explanation we’ll get about her aesthetic. Let’s embrace it.
