The Surprising Way Miley Cyrus Stayed on Liam Hemsworth's Mind During Their Breakup

One of the most interesting things about Miley Cyrus’ Younger Now era is how open she’s been about her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth. She straight-up admitted that her first single, “Malibu,” is about him; plus, she’s talked candidly about their breakup and future marriage plans on several occasions. Throw in the fact they’re always posting about each other on Instagram, and you have one of the most transparent celebrity relationships in pop culture.

And yet there’s still so much we don’t know. What do they talk about? Does Hemsworth listen to “Can’t Be Tamed” on repeat? Has Cyrus ever seen Cut Bank, that random 2014 movie Hemsworth made with Billy Bob Thornton and John Malkovich? These are questions fans desperately need answered.

Another theory they want debunked: Did Hemsworth ever move into one of Cyrus’ old homes without knowing it was hers? OK, maybe no one’s ever asked that, but get this: It actually happened.

In a new interview with Howard Stern, Cyrus reveals that, during their breakup, Hemsworth bought the house where she recorded her first album—but he didn’t know that at the time.

“When Liam—he’s my boyfriend now—broke up for a minute, he wanted to get away from me, he wanted to go to Malibu and bought this house,” Cyrus said. “He didn’t know it was the house I recorded my first album [Breakout] in. The person [selling the house] hid all the plaques in the garage so he would still buy the house. So then he went to move in and he was like ‘Fuck, I cannot get away, this bitch is all over my fucking house!'”

Welp, that’s certainly one way to make sure your ex doesn’t forget you during a split. The wildest part about this story, though, is that they now live in this house together. “So now that we’re back together, my song ‘Malibu’ is about the house that I live in, in Malibu, which is where I recorded my first album,” she said. Full circle!

Cyrus called Hemsworth the “most normal” part of her life during this interview and said she almost didn’t want him to hear Younger Now because a good portion of it is about him. “I put this dude through so much shit…he’ll tell me something and then all of the sudden it’s in one of my songs,” she said. “The day the album came out, he said he bought the album and was going to go take a shower and listen, and I’m like, ‘Maybe don’t.”

This make sense, but something tells me Hemsworth is a big fan of the album. I mean, how could he not like “Malibu?” It’s the happiest song of 2017.

Miley Cyrus Reveals She Has No Plans to Marry Liam Hemsworth in the Immediate Future

It’s settled (for now, at least): Miley Cyrus has no plans to marry Liam Hemsworth in the immediate future. After fielding so many marriage rumors we can’t keep track of them all, the singer set the record straight by telling The Sun that she doesn’t “envision marriage.” “I’m 24,” she told the publication, according to Page Six. “I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do.” She’s still wearing the engagement ring he gave her in 2012 though, and we don’t blame her. It’s a gorgeous Neil Lane creation with a cushion-cut diamond and 18K gold band that she appears to be casually sporting in her photoshoot for her single “Malibu.” (Sneaky!)

“Three years ago, if you’d asked me if I’d be here, this happy with this man, I’d have been stunned,” Cyrus added. “I’m just riding this out. In some relationships, you lose yourself by being with someone else. Actually, it made me find myself more. I have no idea what the next three years will bring, but if it’s possible to get even happier, I’ll take it.”

Cyrus continued that she didn’t know she would get back with Hemsworth in 2016 after breaking it off with him in 2013. “I’m so crazy I have no idea, but I had something in my heart, it never felt like it was really over,” she said. “We kept a great friendship really private.” In fact, if they hadn’t gone their separate ways, their relationship wouldn’t be as strong today, she said. “It’s good for people to have that space to grow individually. Otherwise, when you’re with someone from 16 until 24, you grow into the same person,” she said. “We got to become individuals. I hope everything stays the same. It feels like nothing changed except we grew up a lot.”

The whole Milliam (Miam? Liley?) saga has kept fans on their toes since the pair announced the rekindling of their engagement last January, with more twists, turns, leaks, and spoilers than your average Game of Thrones season.

In case you’ve forgotten (and we wouldn’t blame you), the last marriage rumor dropped in March, when Cyrus’s father Billy Ray Cyrus posted a pic on Instagram of the singer in a white dress, captioned “I’m so happy … you are happy.” He quickly put that rumor to bed after sending fans in a tizzy, changing the caption to “Don’t jump the gun!” And just two months before that, an unnamed source claimed that Cyrus and Hemsworth had gotten hitched in a super-secret New Year’s Eve wedding, with suspiciously nuptial Instagram pics to fuel the fire. And before that…well, you get the idea. Here’s hoping this latest advancement puts a stop to the false flags once and for all.

Miley Cyrus Pledges $500,000 to Help Victims of Hurricane Harvey

Say what you will about Miley Cyrus, but there’s nothing not to love about this.

The pop star revealed during a Wednesday appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show that she’s donating $500,000 to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, barely containing her tears as she talked about the devastating storm and its aftermath.

“It’ll make me cry, so I can’t really talk about it,” Cyrus said. “I don’t know why it makes me so upset…I really hope people know—I couldn’t fake it. My grandma’s sitting here and my mom’s here and I go home to my seven dogs. If I didn’t have that anymore, it’d just be really hard.”

“I’m really happy to help any way that I can,” she continued. “I hope people understand they can put themselves in those people’s shoes and just know what it feels like to have everything taken away from you.”

It’s no wonder Cyrus was so emotional: Experts have said Harvey is “probably the worst disaster” the state of Texas has ever seen. At least 35 people have died as a result of the storm, more than 30,000 people have been forced to flee their homes, and over 100,000 people are without running water.

Cyrus joins a growing list of celebrities pledging huge amounts of money to victims of Harvey. The Kardashian family has given $500,000 to the Salvation Army and Red Cross; Beyonce is working with her BEYGood foundation to help those in Houston; and Sandra Bullock donated $1 million to the relief efforts. Comedian Kevin Hart has also signed onto the relief efforts, pledging $25,000 of his own and challenging other celebrities to rise to the occasion.

For those looking to follow suit and make donations of their own, there are plenty of ways to help—even if you’re miles away from Houston. Groups like Save the Children, the Texas Diaper Bank, and Global Giving had all set up Hurricane Harvey relief funds. Not sure where to contribute? You can find a full list of organizations here.

Lindsey Vonn Responds to the Nude Photo Hack That Affected Her, Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, and Others

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and her ex-boyfriend, golfer Tiger Woods, are the latest celebrities affected by a nude photo hack—along with Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Katharine McPhee, and Stella Maxwell.

TMZ reported on Monday that private photos of these stars starting popping up on a porn website, which was later identified as Celebrity Jihad, the page responsible for the nude leaks in 2014 that involved Jennifer Lawrence and Gabrielle Union. (That incident is now known, unfortunately, as “The Fappening.”) According to TMZ, Woods and McPhee had already hired legal counsel to fight against these leaks. As for Vonn, a spokesperson for the athlete released a statement to People condemning the group who published the photos.

“It is an outrageous and despicable invasion of privacy for anyone to steal and illegally publish private intimate photos,” the representative said. “[Lindsey Vonn] will take all necessary and appropriate legal action to protect and enforce her rights and interests. She believes the individuals responsible for hacking her private photos as well as the websites that encourage this detestable conduct should be prosecuted to the fullest extent under the law.”

And it looks like the hacker(s) received this message. According to the Los Angeles Times, the photos disappeared from Celebrity Jihad at around 7:30 A.M. PDT Tuesday morning (August 22).

This situation is eerily similar to what happened to Emma Watson in March and, of course, “The Fappening” from three years ago. In November 2014, Lawrence told Vanity Fair that her photo hack was a “sex crime,” and she’s absolutely right. These pictures were never intended for public consumption, which means even looking at them is wrong. Taking a quick glance at a celebrity’s nude photos is the equivalent of a creep watching you undress from your closet. It’s a private moment, and invading someone’s intimate space is never OK—even if it’s from your iPhone.
