Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Cutest Couple Moments of 2019

It’s been quite the year for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. They welcomed their first child, Archie, went on a royal tour of southern Africa, launched a battle with the tabloids, and, oh yeah, casually met Beyoncé. Truthfully, it was all just in a year’s work for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are currently taking a well-deserved break out of the spotlight for the holidays.

While Meghan and Harry are kicking back, we figured it’d be fun to go through their cutest moments of the year—both as a couple and new parents. We already know parenthood has profoundly impacted the both of them. “It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I’m really happy,” Markle said shortly after giving birth, while Prince Harry added, “It’s been great. Parenting is amazing.” But they’ve also shared some sweet moments just the two of them. Below, the 10 times Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made us swoon the most.

Meghan Markle's Mom Has the Cutest Nickname for Her Duchess Daughter

Most everyone’s parents bequeath their kids with nicknames that make absolutely no sense, yet convey some sort of affection. Last week, for example, we learned that Kylie Jenner calls her daughter Stormi “Noodle.”

Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, can relate. Her mother also has a few nicknames for her that range from the rather logical to the questionably associative, and thanks to some lite Internet archaeology from British newspaper The Express, who put someone with a lot of patience in charge of excavating the web archives of Markle’s former blog, The Tig, we now know what they are.

On August 4, 2016, Markle marked her birthday on the blog with an interview…with herself. She answered some questions in the section of the blog called “Tig Talk,” a Q&A usually reserved for celebrities.

“My nickname is Meg, MM, M&M, and Flower (which my mum has called me since I was little),” Markle wrote, reports The Express.

As far as mother-bestowed nicknames go, “Flower” is definitely a cute one—but we have to say, it’s nothing compared to what Prince Charles reportedly calls his daughter-in-law. He definitely wins the most creative Meghan-Markle-nickname award, with his casual address of “Tungsten” to the duchess. Yep, he calls Meghan “Tungsten,” which—if you remember the horrors of your high school chemistry class—appears on the periodic table under the symbol “W.” Apparently it’s a testament to the fact that she’s “strong and unbending.”

“Flower,” “Tungsten,” “M&M”—she’ll always be Meghan to us.

Chrissy Teigen Celebrated Her Mom Becoming a U.S. Citizen With the Cutest Video

Chrissy Teigen‘s mom, Vilailuck Teigen—known affectionately as “Yāy” to Teigen’s online fans—is officially a U.S. citizen.

Teigen took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to share a video of her mom, who’s originally from Thailand, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. In the clip, Vilailuck can be seen holding her two-year-old granddaughter, Luna, who’s waving an American flag in honor of her grandmother’s accomplishment. “YES MOM!! Congrats @pepperthai2!!” the cookbook author captioned the post. John Legend also celebrated his mother-in-law’s big day, sharing the video to his own feed and adding, “@Pepperthai2 became a US citizen today! 100% on her test!”

The congratulatory comments flowed in. “I got my citizenship last year, congrats to your mom!!!!” wrote one Twitter user. “That is really, really beautiful. Congratulations!!! I’m told that test is quite hard and that anyone born here would probably fail it so good on ya!! To hold your beautiful granddaughter while being sworn in is divine. Blessings!” added another.

Vilailuck lives with Teigen and Legend in Los Angeles, and is a constant fixture on her daughter’s feed. She also has her own iconic Instagram account—@pepperthai2—and has become an IG legend (pun very much intended) in her own right. She’s a doting grandmother and recipe whiz, and was one of the first guests on Luna’s hilarious YouTube channel.

Chrissy opened up to PopSugar earlier this year about the joys of having her mom live with her, and it’s safe to say that it sounds like the Teigen-Legend household is a nonstop, love-filled party thanks to Vilailuck’s constant presence.”It’s so helpful to have her live with us. She’s the most incredible grandma. Luna is so close with her. ‘Yāy’ means grandmother in Thai, so she goes ‘Yāy!’ all day long, and it’s just fun because my mom is a kid at heart. She just has so much energy, and I just lug myself at this point,” she said. “She somehow manages to squeeze Luna in and make her a priority. It’s crazy. There’s nothing wrong with having too much love. Luna has a lot of love around her.”

America Ferrera Is Expecting Her First Child—and She Announced It in the Cutest Way

One celebrity is starting off the new year with something to look forward to: Actress America Ferrera is expecting her first child with husband Ryan Piers Williams.

The announcement came in the form coordinated Instagram posts, in which the two of them wore festive 2018 glasses while Ferrera held up a little gray baby onesie with the words “Más besos (por favor)” (“More kisses (please)”). The Superstore actress captioned the photo: “We’re welcoming one more face to kiss in 2018! Wishing you #MásBesos in the New Year! #babybesos#HappyNewYear.” Williams reposted Ferrera’s ‘gram with a cute caption of his own. “Making room for new and beautiful things to come in 2018!#happynewyear.”

The couple, who celebrated 12 years together over the summer, met at the University of Southern California, when Ferrera was an actress in Williams’ student film. The two got engaged in 2010, and married in 2011.

Ferrera’s 2018 celebrations were quite different than last year’s: If you remember, Ferrera called it an early night on December 31, 2016, while Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (and real-life) BFFs were ringing in the new year. They called her via FaceTime to say hi—or, as Ferrera would (jokingly) claim later on James Corden’s Late Late Show, to make her jealous.

Her 2017 came to quite an epic ending, though. On top of this announcement, Ferrera also capped out the year with an appearance in Jay Z’s “Family Feud” music video, which was directed by Ava DuVernay and featured an incredible cast of women including Thandie Newson, Mindy Kaling, Rashida Jones, Constance Wu, Brie Larson, and Rosario Dawson, among others. Not too bad at all.

Congratulations to the couple!

Prince Harry Interviewed Barack Obama, and It Was the Cutest

Prince Harry has had a lot going on lately, so you’d be forgiven if you missed the new job title Mr. Meghan Markle recently acquired: radio journalist.

That’s right, the British prince just put in some time as a guest editor on BBC Radio 4’s flagship “Today” show. And, for his foray into journalism, he was joined by a very special and equally-impressive guest: none other than former President . Barack Obama. The banter between the two of them is, in a word, adorable, and we want more of it.

In a preview video of the holiday-themed interview, scheduled to air in full on December 27, Obama and Harry can been seen joking around about what’s to come during their sit-down. As expected, both are beyond charming, giving us lots to look forward to after Christmas.

PHOTO: Getty Images

“Do I have to speak faster?” Obama asks Harry as they’re getting started. “Because I’m a slow speaker.”

“Not at all,” Harry assures him.

“OK,” Obama says. Then he adds: “Do I need a British accent?”

Instead of answering, Harry gives his guest a good-natured warning: “If you start using long pauses between the answers, you’re probably gonna get ‘the face,'” he says.

“Lemme see the face,” Obama replies. Harry shoots him a serious look that does the job: “I don’t wanna see that face,” the former President says.

Of course, Harry and Obama go way back. Most recently, Obama tweeted his congratulations to Harry and Meghan on their engagement. They were also spotted hanging out together with Joe Biden in Toronto at the Invictus Games in September.

Obama also made a trip to Kensington Palace to visit Harry and his family in May—so something tells us this interview will be an instance of mixing business with pleasure. Not that their friendship is preventing Harry from experiencing those familiar “first day” jitters on his new job.

“You’re excited about this,” he tells Obama. “I’m nervous about this, that’s what’s quite funny.”

“I’ll interview you if you want,”Obama offers.

But Harry politely declines: “No, no. Let’s keep it this way. I’d much prefer that.”

Watch all of the banter below—it will definitely make your Sunday.

Sephora's 40 New Lipsticks Come in the Cutest Packaging You've Ever Seen

Since launching its affordable, in-house beauty brand back in 1995, Sephora has proven it knows its shoppers. We want makeup and lots of it for not a lot of money, and Sephora Collection has delivered exactly that. But its new lipstick line, #LipStories, launching today on the brand’s app and tomorrow online, proves that Sephora understands more than makeup lovers. It understands internet culture. It knows we do things for the ‘gram, and it has given up 40 shades of lipstick at $8 a piece in packaging that was made to be photographed.

#LipStories’ shade range is impressive: it comes in three finishes, cream, matte, and metallic. And because this lipstick line is the internet made manifest, each finish is hashtagged into the lipstick itself. As equally impressive are the colors—there are plenty of surprising options among some classics, like red and pink—but regardless of how they look on, you’re definitely, definitely going to want to buy them because of their wacky, bright little tubes.

There are tubes with cityscapes, tubes with pugs…dollar bills, palm trees, the list goes on. It’s a little strange but so are Pinterest boards full of DIY projects you’ll never do but like to look at, which really feels like the whole point. There’s a nice little synchronicity happening between the shades, their names, and the packaging. The cute little pug tube contains Woof, a matte black. Yum Yum is a warm, soft brown that matches the chocolate chip cookies on the label, which makes the exteriors both cute and helpful in a hurry: if you grab the one with glaciers on it, you know you’re getting a blue lipstick. Cash Money, that’ll be green.

Overall, they’re cute and silly without feeling impersonal—and truly have something for everyone with a niche internet-y interest. So whether you’re into monochromatic interior decorating or high contrast foodie blogs, there’s now a very affordable lipstick out there that’ll look right at home in your next beauty haul flat lay.
