Fans Are Convinced Ariana Grande Will Perform With 'NSync at Coachella

Ariana Grande is set to perform as the youngest-ever headliner at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival tonight (April 14) in Indio, California. But there might be another surprise in store: Very excited, eagle-eyed fans are theorizing that four members of ‘NSync (Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and JC Chasez) are set to join her on stage.

They’re drawing their conclusions from two different ‘NSync-themed videos the “Sweetener” singer recently posted to her Twitter account after TMZ published a report that seems to confirm a vague “collaboration” that’s “definitely” set to take place on Sunday.

On April 11, Grande shared throwback footage of her younger self and her mother, Joan Grande, at a late-‘90s ‘NSync concert. A young Grande and her mother are seen singing along to the boy band’s hit song “It Makes Me Ill.”

Then, just one hour later, the Grammy award winner posted a second video to her account with the caption, “the best medicine 90s baby.” In the 9- second clip, a present day Grande lip-syncs and dances to the group’s hit single “Tearin’ Up My Heart” with a gigantic smile on her face.

There’s been no actual confirmation from the festival or either of the performers’ reps, so it’s still unclear exactly what’s going on. However, her manager Scooter Braun has definitely been adding fuel to the fire ahead of her set.

Braun tweeted, “Coachella you have no idea what’s coming!” Then he responded to her throwback video writing, “Little Ari and Nsync :)”

And as recently as this morning Braun’s been teasing tonight’s concert.

To top it all off, a fan noticed that ‘NSync member JC Chasez started following Ariana on Instagram last night.

If this surprise collaboration does go down tonight—and only time will tell at this point—it will be the first time ‘NSync has performed as a band since 2013. But we’ll start looking for our old concert T-shirts, just in case.

An Explosive Fire Erupted at the Coachella Campground Early Saturday Morning

A large fire broke out at Coachella around 2 A.M. PST Saturday morning, following the first night of the music festival. Festivalgoers say they heard explosions and noticed that a mobile shower area had gone up in flames, with one camper reportedly fleeing from the area in his towel and calling on others to get out.

The Riverside County Fire Department responded quickly, blocking off the area and making sure everyone was safe. They contained the fire by 2:28 A.M, according to their Twitter. The Evening Standard reports that the festival sent out an alert to campers telling them to “STAY AWAY” (emphasis Coachella’s) from the burning showers in lot 4B.

As of 9 A.M. EST, no injuries have been reported, thankfully, although the footage captured by those at the festival definitely looks terrifying.

According to the fire department, there were two mobile shower trailers involved, one of which was “damaged” and the other “destroyed.”

It’s still TBD exactly what caused the fire, though some festivalgoers seem to think it was a propane tank near the shower block.

We’ll update this post as we know more.

Vanessa Hudgens Created a Coachella Essential Shopping List on Amazon

Vanessa Hudgens has worn disco sequins on the red carpet, danced in a catsuit on a television musical, and even designed a very chic line of suits. But perhaps her most well-known outfits are the ones she breaks out for Coachella, the annual music festival in southern California, of which she’s been named the unofficial queen.

Hudgens doesn’t employ a stylist to plan out her Coachella looks—rather, she uses it as an opportunity to revisit some of her favorite brands and pick out what speaks to her. “It’s my place to express how I am in that moment,” she tells Glamour. She loves getting dressed up for the festival: “My suitcase gets very full of clothes and jewelry and shoes.” Still, she has packing down to a science: She’ll plan all of her outfits at home beforehand, storing individual elements for each one—apparel, jewelry, other accessories—in plastic bags. “It all stays pretty self-contained,” she says. And to save space, especially when you’re spending days in the elements, she’s developed a phone-a-friend system: “I try to do a big group text with the people that I’m going with, to avoid doubling up on any of the necessities. I give responsibilities to people, like, ‘You’re in charge of the glow sticks, and you’re in charge of the sunscreen,’ and so on and so forth. Just so you don’t have more than you need.”

Still, odds are you’ll forget something. That’s why this year, Coachella partnered with Amazon to set up lockers inside the festival grounds that attendees can order and send products to, from sunglasses to sunscreen. “The most convenient thing ever,” says Hudgens, who admits she’s been saved by Amazon’s two-day shipping in festivals’ past. For its inaugural partnership with Coachella, Hudgens curated some of her essentials on its dedicated store.

Ahead, the actress breaks down what she’s shopping for ahead of her annual trip to the desert and why she considers those pieces a Coachella essential.

Ariana Grande Just Made Coachella History

Coachella just announced its 2019 festival lineup, and it’s stacked. Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and—drum roll, please— Ariana Grande will steer the ship for the festival’s two weekends. With this, Grande becomes only the fourth female headliner in Coachella’s history—and the youngest female artist to receive top billing. (She’s joining ranks with Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Björk.)

Thankfully, several female artists will play Coachella over its two-week span. Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Lizzo, Maggie Rogers, and the K-Pop band Blackpink all secured spots in the festival. Another exciting addition to the list is transgender DJ Sophie, who’s produced music for Madonna and Charli XCX and earned a Grammy nomination this year for her own album Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides.

Check out the full lineup for yourself, below:

“Humbled and excited as all hell @coachella thank u,” Grande wrote on Instagram to celebrate securing the gig.

It’s shaping up to be a busy 2019 for Grande. The singer is reportedly releasing another album—aptly titled Thank U, Next—early in the year and will embark on her Sweetener World Tour this coming March. Her song “Thank U, Next” is still holding strong at number one on Billboard‘s Hot 100.

“I’m really looking forward to embracing whatever happens and whatever comes my way,” Grande said in December while accepting the award for Billboard magazine’s Woman of the Year. “I’m really grateful for my friends and family, I love you guys so much. I’m really grateful for music.”

Coachella will take place over the weekends of April 12 and April 19, so mark your calendars. Click here for more information.

Beyoncé Wore Brand-New Costumes for Her Second Coachella Performance

The first weekend of Coachella was downright historic thanks to Beyoncé’s two-hour long set. The 26 songs she performed, her reunion with Destiny’s Child, and of course the outfits, were all as fierce as Sasha Fierce herself. And her repeat performance for Coachella’s second weekend did not disappoint. The songs in her set stayed mostly the same as her first performance, according to fans on Twitter, but because Bey’s extra-ness knows no bounds, she totally switched up her costume game.

This weekend’s performance wasn’t live-streamed like last weekend’s, but her costumes tell the story. The old-gold-and-black looks, widely interpreted by fans as an homage to the first black fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, were replaced with a bright magenta theme. Never fear, though: Queen B’s new look still had her sorority letters emblazoned on the front. Best part: You can choose between the two colorways at her Beychella Pop-Up Store.

The dancers’ costumes followed suit in all pink this weekend, compared to last weekend’s yellow outfits.

Bey also replaced the sequined camo costumes she and former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams wore for their Destiny’s Child reunion with head-to-toe silver sparkles for their second weekend together.

And she switched up her most regal look, which was inspired by Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. The first weekend’s interpretation stuck with the black-and-gold theme, while the second weekend’s look was pure platinum. Check out the back on her incredible cape:

Beyoncé also added two new looks to her performance: One was an all-black ensemble for her special performance of “Mi Gente” with J Balvin.

And Queen Bey brought husband Jay-Z on stage once again to perform with her. Last weekend, she wore a short-sleeve fishnet-style top with her sorority crest on it; this time she wore a sparkling pink sweater with the sorority crest on the front.

All of the looks were once again created by Balmain. The brand’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, posed a sketch of the design for one of the band members on his Instagram with the caption, “BALMAIN X BEYONCÉ 21.04.2018.”

Jessica Alba managed to get some clips of the show, which she shared on Instagram for those of us who couldn’t be there to witness it in person (bless).

Just when we thought Bey’s Coachella performance couldn’t get any more iconic, she managed to raise the bar once again. All hail Queen B; all hail #Beychella.

Alert: Beyoncé's Coachella Merchandise Is Available to Shop Online

Less than a week after her face-melting Coachella Beychella performance, Beyoncé is gearing up for Weekend 2 of the Indio, California festival by making her official concert merchandise available to all.

Even if you couldn’t swing Coachella tickets this year, you can still get in on the Beychella experience by shopping the performer’s official festival merchandise, previously only available on-site in Indio, on her website. The appropriately-titled “Beychella Pop-Up Store” will be open through mid-May, according to a countdown clock on the homepage, which is ticking down the minutes until it closes forever (which really just adds a sense of urgency to your purchase). You’ll find hoodies, T-shirts, and even windbreakers to commemorate her legendary performance, ranging in price from $40 for a branded bandana bundle to $115 for a jacket.

The Coachella merchandise isn’t just a cure-all for Beychella FOMO—it’s one way to join Queen Bey’s sorority: As you may remember from Weekend 1, fans were quick to note how Beyoncé’s on-stage wardrobe had plenty of references to Alpha Phi Alpha, the first Black fraternity; on top of the black-and-yellow color scheme, her sweatshirt featured what looked like the Greek letters beta, kappa, and alpha (though, others read the letter as delta, which are also emblazoned on T-shirts and sweatshirts in the Beychella store). If fans really want to pledge “Beyoncé Alpha Knowles,” as some Twitter users dubbed the mythical sorority, they can now dress the part.
