Kelly Clarkson Covered 'Shallow,' and Twitter Is Rightfully Going Wild

Kelly Clarkson is known for her incredible covers, but her latest might just be her best one yet. During her Meaning of Life tour show in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Friday, February 15, the singer took on Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper‘s smash-hit “Shallow” from their Oscar-nominated movie, A Star Is Born—and her rendition will give you straight-up chills.

Clarkson’s no stranger to an incredible live performance or a good cover—she’s covered everyone from Adele to Rihanna—but this performance was something else. Clarkson introduced the song by praising Gaga and sharing how much she appreciates her as an artist.

“I love artists. I know there’s a lot of competition always with artists in the industry, but there’s a lot of us that just dig each other and really get inspired by each other and what they’re doing,” she told the audience. “And this chick is amazing. We’re really different, but at the same time, we’re really similar in the fact that she just loves music, and that’s why she’s doing what she’s doing.”

Clarkson then told the crowd a story about the time Gaga wrote Clarkson a handwritten letter to thank her for performing together. “She was the nicest human being ever. Her name is Lady Gaga,” she said. “It’s so cool to know that someone that talented is so nice.”

Twitter is obviously going nuts over her rendition, with some calling it their favorite “Shallow” cover.

Meanwhile, others called it a “holy experience” and a “masterpiece.”

“Nothing is better than a @kelly_clarkson cover,” one person tweeted.

“Been needing a good Shallow cover song in my life and @kelly_clarkson did it. I think u did @ladygaga justice,” another wrote.

“Her version makes me fall in love with this song even more,” another fan added.

Safe to say we now have two versions of the hit to play on loop.

Kelly Clarkson Nailed Her Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Performance

Kelly Clarkson performed at the grand American spectacle that is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, and it’s safe to say she absolutely nailed the performance. The American Idol alum withstood cold that dipped below 20 degrees to bowl over her fans with a live vocal performance during the parade—something that’s pretty unheard of given the floats’ usual technical capabilities and the freezing weather that puts even the most talented voices on edge.

Instead of keeping it chilled out with some pre-recorded vocals—as most artists understandably do (more on that later)—Clarkson went straight-up live, with a full set featuring a complete stage, backup band, and a fiery performance of “Heat,” from her Meaning of Life album. And not that we would expect anything less, but it was hands-down incredible.

Check it out:

It’s safe to say fans were in awe after her performance: “Kelly Clarkson is actually performing live (and not to track like everyone else is basically forced to do) at the #MacysParade when will ur fave ever,” one person wrote.

“I just need to say, Kelly Clarkson is freaking amazing. Live performance outside in 19° weather, and she was flawless. ? #MacysParade #HappyThanksgiving,” another wrote.

“It is 19° in NYC and Kelly Clarkson is singing live! She is the only thing I’m thankful for this year. #MacysDayParade,” another tweeted.

Others pointed out that Clarkson was the only one singing live: “No one else is singing live for the Macy’s parade except Kelly Clarkson, actual queen.”

Others called for more Clarkson, please. “Replace the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with an annual multi-hour Kelly Clarkson concert spectacular,” one wrote.

One user also pointed out something a little ironic about Clarkson’s stoic performance: “I’m dying at the irony of @kelly_clarkson performing Heat in that intense cold at the #MacysParade,” they tweeted.

And yes, Clarkson was very much aware: “The irony wasn’t lost on us either ?,” she responded.

It should be pointed out that while Rita Ora caught a lot of flak for lip-syncing during the parade, not singing live is in fact the norm. Clarkson is very much the exception to the rule and was reportedly on a specially designed float, as a certain John Legend cleared up: “Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance,” he tweeted after his own lip-synced performance. “Hope y’all enjoyed it anyway. Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!”

Clarkson also tweeted an adorable thank you after the show: “So my toes finally have feeling back in them ? that was a very cold Thanksgiving moment! I’ve been beggin’ the Lord for winter, and well, he answered,” she wrote. “#MacysDayParade thanks for having us! So thankful and appreciative for all the blessings in my life! Y’all have a good one! ?.”

If you already had your list prepared to share around the table of what you were thankful for at dinner, well, now you have one more thing to add to it. Happy Thanksgiving, one and all—and especially Kelly Clarkson.

Kelly Clarkson Calls for a 'Moment of Action' for Santa Fe Shooting Victims at Billboard Music Awards

Host Kelly Clarkson kicked off Sunday night’s 2018 Billboard Music Awards on an extremely emotional note. Instead of diving right into the night’s celebration of music and musicians, the singer first called attention to the tragedy of Friday’s school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas, asking the audience and viewers to take action against gun violence instead of simply sending “thoughts and prayers.”

“There’s something I’d like to say about the tragedy Friday at Santa Fe High School,” Kelly said, apologizing for tearing up. “I’m a Texas girl, and my home state has had so much heartbreak over this past year. And once again, y’all, we’re grieving for more kids that have died for just absolutely no reason at all. Tonight, they wanted me to say that, obviously, we want to pray for all the victims and pray for their families. But they also wanted me to do a moment of silence.”

But that’s not enough, Kelly said. “I’m so sick of moments of silence. It’s not working. Like, obviously,” she said. “So why don’t we not do a moment of silence? Why don’t we do a moment of action? Why don’t we do a moment of change? Why don’t we change what’s happening? Because it’s horrible.” She continued, “Mamas and daddies should be able to send their kids to school, to church, to movie theaters, to clubs. You should be able to live your life without that kind of fear.”

“We need to do better,” she continued. “As people, we are failing our children, we’re failing our communities, we’re failing their families. I can’t imagine—I have four children. I cannot imagine getting that phone call or that knock on the door. So instead of a moment of silence, I want to respect them and honor them tonight, y’all. In your community where you live, your friends, everybody, let’s have a moment of action. Let’s have a moment of change.”

On Friday morning, a student opened fire at Santa Fe High School. Nine students and one teacher were killed, and 10 more people were injured in the gunfire. If you want to support the victims and survivors of the shooting, check out a guide to taking action here.

Bella Hadid Responds to Rumors She's Dating NBA Player Jordan Clarkson

Bella Hadid may or may not have a new guy in her life. According to Us Weekly, she’s been spending time with Los Angeles Lakers player Jordan Clarkson. A source—so, grain of salt—told the magazine that the pair hung out in New York City on December 12 after the Lakers lost to the New York Knicks. Bella and Jordan’s squad that night included his teammate, Brandon Ingram, models Hailey Baldwin and Camila Morrone, and singer Justine Skye, among other pals. According to one onlooker, “It was a big crew, and they were in a private room.” Since then, according to this source, Bella and Jordan have reportedly been casually dating. Or, as he or she put it, “They’ve been hanging out the past few weeks.”

Bella, however, has spoken out on Twitter to set things straight. After Perez Hilton tweeted out an article about the possible romance, Bella responded with, “I am? ?.” It seems the rumor was as much news to her as to anyone else.

Jordan was previously linked to Kendall Jenner, but it looks like the two are on good terms considering that they were spotted hanging out with mutual friends last year after they had ended things.

You might also be wondering if there’s anything still happening between Bella and her ex The Weeknd. After the “Starboy” singer broke up with Selena Gomez, there were reports that he and Bella were hanging out again. But it sounds like the two were simply catching up and mending their friendship.

Watch Kelly Clarkson and 'Stranger Things' Star Gaten Matarazzo Sing a Delightful Duet

In what must be one of the best celebrity hangout sessions of the year, Kelly Clarkson and Gaten Matarazzo (a.k.a. Dustin on Stranger Things) chilled out while singing in a golf cart, as you do. The occasion? The 2017 WE Day Toronto event, which Clarkson hosted and performed at. The clip itself is old—it’s been around since the event was filmed for its broadcast tonight (Saturday)—but it’s just now making the rounds as a way to promote the event.

Help promoting the broadcast comes in the form of the charasmatic Matarazzo, who, while chauffeuring Clarkson to WE Day in a golf cart, lends his pipes to a mashup of Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family” and Queen’s “We Are the Champions.” Watching it is like one of James Corden’s wonderful—and usually viral—Carpool Karaoke videos, but even more wonderful because Dustin Matarazzo is an amazing singer. (He did play Gavroche in Broadway’s Les Mis, after all.)

He’s also adorable, per the ensuing dialogue.

“Are you excited for WE Day?” he asks as he swings around to pick up Clarkson.

“I am excited,” she responds. “I am terrified. I’m nervous.”

“Nah, don’t be,” he replies, with all the confidence of a 15-year-old star. “You got this.”

From there, the banter switches to a few vocal warmups before the two break out into “We Are Family.”

If that doesn’t make the end of your long week feel all warm and fuzzy, I don’t know what will. If it’s not enough—and when are lighthearted duets between stars ever enough?—you can go back to the OG singing-in-moving-vehicles-on-television sensation. These Carpool Karaoke episodes of Victoria Beckham/Posh Spice singing Spices Girls tunes and Bruno Mars doing his funky thing are Internet treasures. Or, hey, get in the seasonal spirit with this little throwback of Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey singing on a holiday-themed segment.

Pink and Kelly Clarkson Perform a Cover of R.E.M.’s 'Everybody Hurts' at American Music Awards 2017

Two of the music world’s strongest women combined forces for the first time on Sunday night in one powerful duet. To open the American Music Awards, Pink and Kelly Clarkson sang a moving cover of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” that paid respect to everyone affected by the tragedies of 2017.

“This year, more than perhaps any other in recent history, we needed the power of music to help us heal, from hurricanes, wildfires, hate, hatred-fueled violence. 2017 was a year that tested our faith,” began Jamie Foxx, before he introduced the police officers, EMTs, and other first responders who work tirelessly to save people this year. “In these moments of crisis, heroes emerge. With us tonight are some of the first responders who ran toward the danger, when it would have been so easy to run away.”

“As this year comes to a close, we look forward to 2018 with hope,” Foxx continued. “For even as we mourn those who were lost, we know this: Together, our strength will pull us through. Together, we shall overcome the pain. Together, we can unite as a people and as a nation. Here to pay respect to all those affected by the events of 2017 are two of the world’s most powerful voices coming together for the first time: Pink and Kelly Clarkson.”

The two women joined each other onstage, collaborating for the first time in a stirring rendition of R.E.M.’s hit. Pink opened the song, striding regally across the stage in a leather moto jacket and a black gown covered with red flowers. She was then joined by Clarkson, looking just as queenly in a gold-stitched black gown befitting of her diva status. They belted out the final notes of their emotional duet to a standing ovation.

The two legendary singers had been fans of each other’s work long before this collaboration. Prior to their performance, they tweeted support at each other, each insisting the other was cause for nervous excitement.

“Gonna play it super cool whilst singing with @Pink this Sunday at the #AMAs ….but know on the inside I will be freaking the &$@! out ? #oneofthegreatestvocalistsofourgeneration #sheissorad #sundayissofarfromnow,” Clarkson tweeted on Thursday.

Pink replied, “You’re joking! I am humbly prepared to be outsung:) I adore you and I cannot wait.”

Then, earlier Sunday, both singers captioned the same rehearsal photo with some awwwww-inducing mutual fangirling.

Later on, both vocalists will sing solo. Pink is expected to treat viewers to the title track of her new album, Beautiful Trauma, a performance that will involve an aerial performance by the singer. It’s unclear what Clarkson will perform, but whatever it is, it will no doubt be just as potent as her duet with Pink.
