Here's What 'Stranger Things' Cast Members Predict for Their Characters in Season 4


Warning: This post contains major spoilers for Stranger Things season three.

If you’re anything like me, you spent a minimum of eight hours this holiday weekend glued to Stranger Things season three. There was a lot of hype going into the sci-fi series’ third installment, but the action-packed, female-powered, Scoops Ahoy-fueled new season did not disappoint. Naturally, we have one big question on the other side of The Battle of Starcourt: What’s next for our favorite residents of Hawkins, Indiana?

For right now, it’s hard to say. The Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things‘s creators, have said they’d envisioned the series as a four-season arc—meaning there’s one last adventure with El, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Max, and Mike ahead. But the actual details—like the storyline and release date—are still up in the air. (The closest thing we have to a confirmation is a hint from producer Shawn Levy, who says season four is “definitely” happening.)

The gate to the Upside-Down may be closed (for now), but we’re holding out hope that there’s still more Stranger Things on the horizon—and the cast seems to agree. Ahead of a (hopeful) fourth season, Glamour asked Cara Buono (Mrs. Wheeler), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson) where they hope their characters head next. Showrunners, I hope you’re listening closely.

Karen Wheeler Realizes Her Potential

Karen Wheeler faced a big choice in season three: Give in to her chemistry with resident bad-guy Billy and pursue an affair, or stay loyal to her marriage and family. In the end, she chose the latter—but Cara Buono told Glamour she hopes her character will get more screen time and more opportunities to branch out from her stifled housewife role. “There’s a lot of potential. And it’s funny because when I meet a lot of young fans, they really want to see more of Mrs. Wheeler, too,” she says.

One option: a fresh career outside of the Wheeler residence. “I always thought that Karen was someone who would have gone to law school and be a public defender to give people a voice who didn’t have a voice… or I thought what would be funny is after everything that happens in Hawkins, because people are moving and real estate has really gone down, she becomes a real estate agent! Like, ‘I know things seem a little unstable here, but now’s a great time to buy!’”

Dyer wouldn’t mind teaming up with her onscreen mom for detective work in future episodes, either. “I want to see more of Karen’s stuff! We need more of that just generally in the world, and that’s just ripe for it.”

Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers Try to Make a Long-Distance Relationship Work

Stranger Things season three closed with a series of heartbreaking goodbyes when the Byers family packed up and left Hawkins for good, including the farewell between longtime-couple Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers. And the actors who play them, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton, are as in the dark as we are regarding whether Stranger Things‘s OTP will last into a fourth season.

“I’m genuinely interested to see what they are going to do, because when we were filming the end and saying goodbye, that was the question, like are we actually saying goodbye?” Heaton says.

“We don’t know [what will happen for them], and the past two seasons we’ve basically been filming together constantly, and it’s like, ‘Huh, what’s next season going to be like?’” Dyer says. “We’ve been with these characters for three seasons, and we care about them, so I do think whatever happens between them, I hope it’s given time and space and integrity and reality to what they’re going through. I mean, I’m personally invested and interested in Nancy and Jonathan’s relationship, because again, we’ve been creating these characters for years, but I think there’s a relatability to that.”

Taylor Swift on Scooter Braun's Purchase of Her Back Catalog: 'This Is My Worst Cast Scenario'


On Sunday, June 30, news broke that Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, has acquired Taylor Swift’s back catalog of music as part of his purchase of Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group. (Swift used to be one of the artists on Big Machine’s roster.) This wasn’t good news to Swift, who responded to the announcement with a Tumblr post.

“For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in,” she writes. “I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums.”

She goes on to explain that she only learned of the sale as the news broke widely, adding, “All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years.”

Swift continues: “Like when Kim Kardashian [allegedly] orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter [allegedly] got his two clients together to bully me online about it… Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked. Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”

“This is my worst case scenario,” she says, later adding, “… When I left my masters in Scott’s hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually he would sell them. Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn’t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever.”

Many took to Twitter in support of Swift after she posted on Tumblr, and #WeStandWithTaylor began to trend. “This is far from the first time a man has claimed ownership of a woman’s work and it sure won’t be the last, but the fact that someone of Taylor Swift’s stature STILL has to deal with this all-too-familiar male behavior is terrifying,” one user writes

“I’m tweeting for the first time in a year to say that Taylor Swift deserves better,” says another. “She’s a self made woman whose worked hard for everything she has, investing love, time and effort in a career she absolutely deserves. #WeStandWithTaylor”

Halsey also joined the conversation, writing on Twitter, “Taylor Swift is a huge reason why I always insisted to write my own music. I believed if she did it (in a way that made my teeth ache like cold water and my heart swell and my eyes leak) than I should too. Cause that’s how to make someone feel. To drag it from the pits of your heart. To offer it on a platter and say ‘take some but take it kindly.'”

The Cast of 'Younger' Wants You to Stand Up for the Violence Against Women Act


The protection of survivors of gender-based violence is under threat. The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which provides aid for those who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and more, has yet to be reauthorized by Congress—which could be dangerous for survivors everywhere. A bit of background: The VAWA was enacted in 1994, with the provision that it be renewed by Congress every few years. This April the House of Representatives approved H.R.1585 (a bill that would reauthorize the act for five more years). But the bill still has to pass in the Republican-controlled Senate, and many are concerned about the bill’s fate there.

Among those worried about the future of the VAWA is the cast of TV Land’s hit series Younger. The show’s stars—Sutton Foster, Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, Miriam Shor, Nico Tortorella, Peter Hermann, Molly Bernard, and Charles Michael Davis—have teamed up with the United State of Women to issue a public service announcement in support of the bill.

“Sutton, Hilary, Miriam, Debi, Molly, Nico, Charles, and I are honored to partner with the United State of Women and add our voices to the urgent call for the renewal of VAWA,” Peter Hermann tells Glamour. “The issues that VAWA addresses—domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking—affect every community in America regardless of race, ethnicity, economic status, or gender identity. To withhold support, or to politicize what is really an issue of human rights, is reprehensible and primitive. We cannot urge you strongly enough to make your voices heard with ours.”

In the PSA the cast highlights that women, transgender, and nonbinary people are disproportionately affected by violence. The stars also urge fans to learn more and take action to keep the VAWA in place.

While Younger chronicles the lives and careers of those in the publishing industry and isn’t an expressly political show, it’s never shied from getting real about the issues facing women. The series has covered the Me Too movement, spotlighted the “glass cliff” for female CEOs, and pulled back the curtain on how intensely women are discriminated against for their age. As Erika Soto Lamb, vice president of social impact strategy for Comedy Central, Paramount Network, and TV Land, put it, “We are proud to partner with The United State of Women to help our audience take action to support the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act—and we have no doubt that Liza, Kelsey, Maggie, Diana, Josh, Charles, Lauren, and Zane would do the same.”

The Big Little Lies Cast Just Gave Us So Much Tea on Season 2


There is so much on the line going into Big Little Lies season two. If you somehow forgot, season one ended with—spoiler warning—Bonnie (Zoë Kravitz) killing Perry (Alexander Skarsgård) by pushing him down a flight of stairs, and the other Monterrey moms covering it up. So on top of all the problems these women were already dealing with, they’re now harboring a huge, life-changing secret.

And that secret is at the core of season two, which also stars the one and only Meryl Streep as Perry’s mother. The teasers for BLL suggest Streep’s character doesn’t buy the moms’ story that Perry accidentally slipped on those stairs. She’s looking for the truth—and I have a feeling she’s going to find it.

What that will mean for Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), Bonnie, Renata (Laura Dern), Jane (Shailene Woodley), and Celeste (Nicole Kidman) is still a mystery. In fact, there’s still so much about Big Little Lies season two that we don’t know. But we did get a few hints from the cast at BLL‘s season two premiere in New York City.

Here’s what they shared.

“We weren’t finished,” David E. Kelley, who wrote all the scripts, tells Glamour about the decision to do a season two. “We certainly dug into the abuse in year one, but the healing is something altogether different. So it really was unfinished. We were not going to do year two just because it was a commercial success. We wanted to be confident we could be just as emotionally provocative as we were in year one. I think we went deeper in year two.”

“She’s really sassy, and something happens that she gets in big trouble for doing,” Darby Camp, who plays Chloe, tells Glamour. “I’m actually excited to see more trouble that she gets into. She is still fighting with Madeline, and she’s still the sassy, same-old Chloe: troublemaker.”

“I think her mom is grounded and an Earth mother,” says Crystal Fox, who plays Elizabeth. “She’s probably coming in there to say, ‘Are you getting it together? What is going on? What are you doing?’ You know how moms can tell if you’re in a space, and they just wanna see what you’re gonna tell them? They just start watching you, and they know your behavior’s changed. And then they go, ‘OK, maybe you’ll tell me.’ And when you don’t, I’ll say, ‘What’s going on?'”

“It’s really worth it,” says Merrin Dungey, who plays Detective Adrienne Quinlan. “It’s an incredibly told story. I was surprised there was going to be a season two. The fact they upped the ante is incredible.”

“When you carry guilt, it can never be off your back entirely—whether it’s physicalized in another person hunting you or asking questions about it or if it’s just in your own heart,” Dungey adds.

The 'Game of Thrones' Cast Crashed Kit Harington's 'SNL' Monologue to Demand Answers About Season 8


Everyone wants to know how the upcoming final season of Game of Thrones is going to pan out, especially when it comes to who’s going to wind up sitting on the Iron Throne itself. With the show’s premiere scheduled exactly a week away on Sunday, April 14, you can bet that Saturday Night Live is getting in on the hype. Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, hosted the show last night (April 6)—and as part of his opening monologue, he found himself having to field some questions about the show from the audience. As it turns out, he knew a few of his interrogators quite well: Some of his present—and former—cast members were there to demand answers, too.

Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the show, popped up to ask Harington to give her “a sense of how it ends.” Clarke’s character is one of the relatively few that hasn’t yet been killed off, and Harington reminded her that she did, in fact, know what was going on in the show’s last season.

“Well, yeah, but I forgot,” she quipped. “It’s been so damn long since the last season, plus a lot of my scenes are talking to a dragon, which is just a tennis ball on a green pole. I have no idea what’s actually happening.”

She also joked about the fact that their characters had hooked up during the show’s sixth season. “Did you know they filmed that?” she asked.

John Bradley, a.k.a. Samwell Tarly, also had a question for Harington. He told Harington he’d only been able to glimpse two pages of the season eight script, and all Tarly said was, “Arghhh.” Harington asked him what had come before that line in the script. “Dragon opens mouth,” Bradley replied.

Naturally, the Night King was also in the audience (played on SNL by Pete Davidson), and it seemed like he was feeling a little down about it all. He asked Harington if people actually hate him (“because it really feels like people hate me”) and if they could still be friends when the show was over. “We were never friends,” Harington responded.

Rose Leslie, whose character played Snow’s love interest until she was killed off (and who, in real life, is now married to Harington), also stood up to ask a question. After Harington told her that he was still sworn to secrecy about all things regarding the show’s final episodes, Leslie told him that she didn’t care because she “wasn’t a nerd.” Instead, she had a more pressing concern.

“My question is, what are we going to do for money now?” she said. “We didn’t save anything, and you kept telling me, ‘Oh I’m the King of the North, we can order UberEats every night.”

The Game of Thrones Cast: Then and Now


On April 14, HBO will premiere the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones. After these six episodes, Dany, Sansa, Arya, and Jon will no longer be a part of our everyday lives, which is sad. But this is also the perfect time to look back on how the cast has changed over the years.

Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, in particular, have literally grown up before our eyes. Turner is marrying a Jonas brother (Joe, in case you’ve been under a rock), and Williams is no longer the little girl we first met in 2011. Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke was dealing with brain aneurysms we never knew about until recently, and Kit Harrington went from fresh-faced young man to possible ruler of the realm (and husband to former co-sta, Rose Leslie.)

Let’s take a trip down Westeros memory lane with some of the cast’s big red carpet moments from premieres over the years.
