Brown Ale Hair Is Fall's Coolest New Hair Color


Just as you might swap a pale summer ale for something heartier when the temperature drops, hair colors are following suit for fall. Sure, that’s nothing unusual for this time of year, but this season, thanks to hair colorist Colin Caruso, it’s a bit more, well, literal. While visiting a brewery earlier this fall, the John Paul Mitchell Systems Artistic Director of Color didn’t only kick back a few pints of brown ale—he turned it into a hair color.

Like its namesake beverage, Brown Ale hair has a deep mahogany base and swirls of amber highlights. “It’s different from traditional brunettes because of the richness and the depth it provides,” Caruso tells Glamour. “It’s warm without the brassy or mousey undertones some people associate with traditional brunettes.” He says the shade is perfect for this time of year since it’s a great way to go deeper and richer for the cold weather ahead, while still offering a touch of warmth.

To get that warmth without veering into brassy territory, Caruso emphasizes to ask your stylist for rich and warm highlights, and that dimension is key. “If you’re cautious about going darker, tell them to start slow,” he says. “Add some lowlights or drop your toner down a level or two. No need to rush—you have all winter to take the plunge.” He also recommends asking your colorist for a demi-permanent color if your hair has been damaged from your summer blond.

Another reason he says a demi-permanent color is key to this shade is because of the crazy shine it provides. “Dark hair needs to look rich and healthy, and the demi-permanent color is ammonia-free to ensure your hair is shiny and healthy,” says Caruso. He also notes that another bonus with demi-permanent color is that it only lasts six to eight weeks, which is perfect if you’re just dipping your toes into a color trend. “You get the rich healthy look of Brown Ale hair without the long term commitment, ensuring your hair will be happy, healthy, and ready for summer blonding soon enough.”

What’s the last rabbit hole you went down on Instagram or YouTube?

Probably Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau’s wedding. I went in such a deep hole, and I could not get out of it. I was like, “What is happening right now?”

You’re stranded on a desert island, what are three products you bring with you?

Well, I mean if it’s a desert island, it’s going to be hot, so definitely moisturizer. Then probably my lip oil and a cleanser, because I could just use the ocean water to wash it off.

What color are you loving on your nails right now?

I haven’t had my nails done for a really long time, but right now, it’s purple.

What’s your favorite getting ready music?

I love Taylor Swift’s new album Lover. “London Boy” is my favorite song ever.

How much time do you spend getting ready normally?

You know, for an event and stuff, it takes maybe an hour and a half. But for everyday, less than five minutes. I just put my moisturizer on. And then at night, when I’m winding down, that takes me about 20 minutes—just cleansing slowly, moisturizing, taking off all my makeup.

Are you strict about taking your makeup off or do you fall asleep in it from time to time?

No, I’m pretty religious about my skin care routine. I wake up, put my moisturizer on, put my Swimming Under The Eyes Gel Pads on, and then go to work. I also like steam my face once a month. Oh! And I do a face mask every Friday night.

I love the little whale eye patches.

That was my idea from day one, and that was really difficult to get the shape right on those.

Why whales?

Because I believe that every animal should be in the wild and be free, and whales especially are such an angelic animal that deserve to be in the ocean. I’ve always had a love for how majestic and beautiful they are, so I wanted to involve them.

What’s your favorite way to take a moment for yourself?

I like to watch TV or YouTube—Friends is always my go-to—or I like to call my friends and hang out with my family. I also like to clean. I know that sounds crazy, but my room, I love a good clean. It feels very therapeutic for me.

Who Is Maddison Brown, the Woman Spotted Holding Hands With Liam Hemsworth?


On Thursday night, October 10, Liam Hemsworth threw fans for a loop when he was seen in New York holding hands with Australian actor Maddison Brown, best known for starring on The CW’s Dynasty reboot. The PDA comes shortly after Us Weekly published a report saying Hemsworth was “open to meeting people” following his highly-publicized split from Miley Cyrus over the summer. Cyrus’ love life post-Hemsworth, meanwhile, has been the topic of intense tabloid fodder: She was briefly linked to Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter and is now reportedly dating Cody Simpson.

Maddison Brown is the first person Hemsworth has been spotted out with, though. It’s unclear what the status of their relationship is, but here’s everything you need to know about her:

She’s relatively new to the acting game. The 22-year-old made her Dynasty debut in season two as Kirby Anders, the daughter of the principal family’s chief steward who was framed for arson as a kid. Prior to this she had a role on the Australian TV series The Kettering Incident, but those are her only two substantial acting credits. According to People, Brown is also a model (she’s worked with Calvin Klein and Jason Wu, among other high-fashion brands) and has over 450,000 followers on Instagram.

Cosmopolitan reports that Brown’s comments are already blowing up with thirsty Hemsworth messages. “Your followers about to raise up lol Liam’s new girl,” one reads, while another says, “Are you Liam’s mystery girl????.”

She’s had a crush on Hemsworth for a while. Well, kinda. Fans unearthed an interview Brown did for the Zach Sang Show where she played a little “F–k, Marry, Kill.” Hilariously, she said she would sleep with both Chris and Liam Hemsworth at the same time. Tyler Cameron Just Addressed Rumors He Threw Shade at Hannah Brown


Tyler Cameron and Hannah Brown seem to have gone their separate ways after briefly meeting up following the end of The Bachelorette. Cameron has been spotted repeatedly with Gigi Hadid, and Brown is busy living her life and not caring about the drama. But that hasn’t stopped people from scrutinizing Cameron’s every move, including his social media activity. On Wednesday, September 4, he decided to speak out and address accusations that he’d purposefully liked a post shading Brown.

“Someone DM’d me something that I liked a comment that said I was throwing shade at HB and I must say that is a complete accident. For 1 I am very selective for what I like. 2nd, that girl deserves no shade and nothing but success. She empowers women and deserves all the accolades,” he wrote on Twitter.

He added in two later tweets, “She empowers women and created so much conversation on how women should be treated. I am grateful for our time together and all that I learned from her. Made a joke about ‘clarity’ because that was such a hot topic from the show. Will always support HB and her family. Will never take away from her and her family. Amazing people. Have a great night.”

Brown, who is slated to star on the next season of Dancing With the Stars, recently joked about the rumored Hadid-Cameron romance. “Do you remember that one time I then asked another person out on a date? On national television? After I got un-engaged? And then…just read the tabloids,” she cracked on Cosmopolitan‘s “Expensive Taste Test” series.

But Hannah Brown has also spoken about Tyler Cameron more seriously. She told Entertainment Tonight that she last messaged Cameron when she heard his father was sick, but beyond that, she’s not dwelling on the situation or the gossip.

“I think we were both single and it is his decision to do whatever makes him happy, and so I want my own happiness,” she said. “I’m moving forward.”

Here's How Hannah Brown Reportedly Feels About Tyler Cameron and Gigi Hadid's Dates


News that Tyler Cameron went on a date with Gigi Hadid just days after he spent the night with Hannah Brown has been rocking Bachelor Nation all week. Neither Cameron nor Hadid has commented on their recent hang-outs (there have been two that we know of), and Brown’s been incredibly diplomatic with the press. “I have feelings, but I’m also single and he’s single, and I want to keep my options open and he can keep his options open,” she told Entertainment Tonight. Soon after, she told Us Weekly she’s more or less done answering questions about Cameron. “I’m not going to talk about Tyler or any of that stuff. Thank you, next,” she said.

It doesn’t look like Brown’s going to expand on those “feelings” she has any time soon. But if People magazine’s latest report is to be believed, she’s not exactly jumping for joy over the idea of Hadid and Cameron kicking it. “Hannah is not thrilled,” a source tells the outlet. “It’s not that she doesn’t think he’s allowed to date other people, but it’s embarrassing.”

This essentially echoes what Brown told Entertainment Tonight, so no big surprises here. But a separate source gave some details about Hadid and Cameron’s situation that are a little juicy. “Their dates are definitely real and he’s having a good time,” they say. “It’s too soon to say Tyler and Gigi are ‘dating.’ They’re both being purposefully coy.”

Regardless of what’s going on, Hannah Brown has made it clear she wants nothing but happiness for Tyler Cameron, who was the runner-up on her season of The Bachelorette. (Some fans are clamoring for them to get together after the man Brown selected, Jed Wyatt, turned out to have a dramatic previous-relationship history.)

“I’m really appreciative that Tyler has always had my back and supported me through all my decisions. He constantly encourages me to lean into the strong woman that I am,” Brown wrote about Cameron on Instagram. “He’s a really good man, and I’m going to be his biggest fan in whatever makes him the happiest.”

If you’re even a casual member of Bachelor Nation, then you’re probably well-versed in the current situation involving Hannah Brown, Gigi Hadid, and Tyler Cameron. The Cliff’s Notes version is this: Brown had Cameron, the runner-up from her season of The Bachelorette, over Thursday night, August 1, in Los Angeles. Romance rumors subsequently blossomed, but they were squashed when news broke Cameron went on a date with Gigi Hadid in New York City that Sunday.

Brown went on the record about this to Entertainment Tonight, saying, “I have feelings, but I’m also single and he’s single and I want to keep my options open and he can keep his options open.” Chris Harrison echoed this sentiment to Glamour, confirming that no love triangle exists because “Tyler and Hannah are not in a relationship.”

And now the question-and-answer period of this lecture is over—at least for Brown. In a new interview with Us Weekly, she made it clear she has no interest in speaking about Cameron and Hadid anymore. “I’m not going to talk about Tyler or any of that stuff. Thank you, next,” Brown told the outlet, quoting Ariana Grande’s relationship anthem “Thank U, Next.”

What a perfect, perfect response. I mean, why should Hannah Brown give any more energy into this situation? She’s too wonderful and iconic. Roll Tide, and all that jazz.

I imagine Brown’s becoming more tight-lipped in light of reports Hadid and Cameron went on a second date Monday night, August 5. According to Entertainment Tonight, the duo and some friends went bowling in New York City followed by karaoke. Listen, that may sound fun in theory, but here’s the tea: Bowling is miserable, no matter how fancy the alley. You’re forced to wear ugly shoes while throwing around a giant, marble ball that could kill someone in a room that probably smells like stale cigarettes. And karaoke? Again, a scam! Why would you pay money to listen to your friends sing “Photograph” by Nickelback off-key? Don’t worry, Hannah, you’re not missing anything.

In fact, it looks like her Monday night plans were way better: She attended an ABC Television Critics Association event in Los Angeles wearing a dress that says, “Tyler, who?” and striking a pose that reads, “I’m an unfazed legend.”
