The Fantasy Bra is a tradition that dates back to 1996, when the lingerie giant put Claudia Schiffer on the cover of its catalog wearing the Million Dollar Miracle Bra, a push-up style covered in “over one hundred carats of real diamonds” and valued at $1 million. Over the years, Victoria’s Secret has incorporated the Fantasy Bra into its highly publicized fashion shows, bestowing it upon one of its contract Angels—from Gisele Bündchen (in 2000 and 2005) to Lais Ribeiro (2017)—and upping the ante (and price tag) on the bling.
This year Swedish model Elsa Hosk will wear the Dream Angels Fantasy Bra down the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway. The diamond-encrusted bustier-style top (with matching body chain) features more than 2,100 stones, including a responsibly sourced topaz accent. Victoria’s Secret partnered with Swarovski, which has been creating a crystal-coated look for the fashion shows since 2003, on the 2018 Fantasy Bra. The grand valuation: $1 million.

Hosk herself was introduced to the concept of the Fantasy Bra through Heidi Klum, who wore it three times during her tenure as an Angel. “I think they said, ‘Here comes the million-dollar bra!’ And I thought, Whoa, a million dollars—that’s special. You just knew it was the most special moment in the show,” she tells Glamour. Hosk has been a Victoria’s Secret Angel since 2015, and this will be her first time wearing the Fantasy Bra. She found out about a month ago, she says: “They planned a fake photoshoot. I was wearing a normal outfit. Everyone was watching me, and they said, ‘Something’s coming for you, Elsa.'”
This milestone comes with extra significance for Hosk: The model turned 30 the day after it was announced that she would be wearing the 2018 Fantasy Bra, and just a few days before she was set to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway with it. “It feels really, really, really special,” she says. “I feel really proud that I got to wear in my career. It’s a cool moment.”

Read on for some more fun facts about the 2018 Fantasy Bra.
It’s the first Fantasy Bra to be made with lab-grown diamonds. The 2,000+ diamonds on the Dream Angels Fantasy Bra were created by Swarovski, marking the first time the bra has been made with jewels originating from a lab. This is one of Hosk’s favorite parts of the style: “It’s a bit more sustainable, and I’m very supportive of that,” she says. According to Victoria’s Secret, it took 930 hours to make the 71-carat bra. This is also the first time Swarovski has made the Fantasy Bra, having collaborated with the lingerie brand on custom show looks for many, many years prior.
PHOTO: Michael Stewart
Its design was inspired by Hosk… When she finally got a look at the Fantasy Bra, Hosk was struck by how true it felt to her own fashion sense—and that was apparently the point. “When I was there, someone was asking, ‘Did you look at Elsa’s style?’ And they said yes,” she remembers. “They look at each girl that they design it for and take into consideration what looks good on them, what their personal style is. I feel like this was really made for me.”
…but the bras was molded in the silhouette of an existing Victoria’s Secret bra. The Dream Angels Fantasy Bra may be one of a kind, but it’s made in the shape of one of the brand’s signature product ranges, the Dream Angels collection. Prices start at $34.50 for an unlined style and go up to $69.50 for a longline balconet. However, if you want to buy something as close to the actual 2018 Fantasy Bra as possible…
For the first time, Victoria’s Secret will sell a version of the Fantasy Bra. It’s not the Dream Angels Fantasy Bra—only Hosk gets to wear that one, sorry—but Victoria’s Secret and Swarovski did collaborate on a special-edition bra to be sold in select stores and online that’s inspired by one you’ll see at the 2018 fashion show. It’s a white, double-strapped bustier style, decorated with crystals, and it’ll retail for $250.

The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on ABC on December 2 at 10:00 P.M. EST.
The beginning of fall might herald the return of pumpkin spice lattes and cozy sweaters, but it also signifies the countdown to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. With T-minus two-ish months until the big event—it usually films at the end of November, though no official date has been announced—models have begun taking to Instagram to confirm their casting as models in the iconic show.
While we can’t yet say for sure yet if some of the star-powered angels from the past—like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Martha Hunt, and Karlie Kloss—will be strutting their stuff on this year’s runway, Victoria’s Secret has confirmed a number of models who will be making an appearance in the show. Forever favorites, like Devon Windsor and Herieth Paul, will be donning their wings this year, as well as a number of new faces. For many of them, this is a lifelong dream come true, which means there’s no shortage of adorable videos on Instagram of their reactions to the news.

Several models from the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show are facing backlash today after they were caught on camera singing the n-word backstage during the production.
Pop Crave, a music news Twitter handle, posted a clip on Wednesday afternoon of several Angels singing along to Cardi B’s hit “Bodak Yellow.” In the video, the models in the room, the majority of whom are white, sing along to literally every word in the song—including the n-word, which Cardi B says right before the lyric, “Don’t get comfortable.”
It didn’t take long for Twitter users to find this video and call out these Victoria’s Secret Angels for saying the word. “Nah. That n-word was too loud and clear for there only to be one black girl in this room,” one user tweeted. “Welp @VictoriasSecret plz fire all of them for saying the n-word all carefree. #thanks,” wrote another. This message, from @insatiablevices on Twitter, explains exactly why the video is so problematic: “If you’re not black, don’t say the N word. Point. Blank. Period.”
Several Twitter users rhetorically asked what word the Angels were using to make their point. “Cut a what now? ?,” tweeted a user named @SadieWiggles. “Quick cutting WHOM off???? ??” replied someone else.
This story even caught the attention of Cardi B. She hasn’t commented on the backlash directly yet, but she did retweet a message from a user named @IMLORDMA512 that read, “All these bitches said [the n-word], too.”
We’ve reached out to Victoria’s Secret for comment and will update this post if and when the company replies.
Update: Alessandra Ambrosio shared an emotional note with fans about her final walk down the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway on Instagram. “Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have been working for this amazing brand that inspires me and women all over the world,” she wrote. “In my wildest dreams I would have never imagined doing 17 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows. Thank you Ed [Razek], and all my Victoria’s Secret family for making these memories unforgettable. Last night was so emotional to say goodbye to my #angel sisters but we put on the biggest and best show ever. I could not have done this without all the love and support from my fans. It gives me great pride to be part the Victoria’s Secret movement! I will always be cheering for you! Love you forever”
See her post below.
Original post:
Even angels need to retire at some point, and it looks like Alessandra Ambrosio might be ready to hang up her wings. Reports have been swirling that this will be the Brazilian model’s last time walking down the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. So to get to the bottom of it, People asked the 36-year-old model backstage at this year’s show in Shanghai, China, if the rumors were true. However, it seems even Ambrosio isn’t sure what the future holds.
“I don’t know,” she said. “I can’t even believe that I’m here still. Never in my life would I dream of doing 17 shows, but I’m very happy to be here in China because it’s definitely the biggest show we’ve ever done. We’re on the other side of the world. The venue is so incredible, and culturally it’s so different and to be here I feel so fortunate.”
Not long after, though, the model confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show would be her last. She hopes to spend more time with her two children, as well as focus on her swimwear brand and acting career.
Ambrosio is one of the most iconic Victoria’s Secret models; she made her debut at the VS Fashion Show in 2000 at the age of 20 and has worn the coveted Fantasy Bra two times (once in 2012 and again in 2014). She has even broken the record for wearing the heaviest wings the brand has ever created—a 30-pound Swarovski-encrusted pair that she wore while pregnant in 2011.
One of Alessandra’s closest companions (and the only VS model ranked more influential), Adriana Lima, will thankfully continue on for a few more shows. Adriana told People backstage that she won’t retire until her twentieth show. Shanghai is the 36-year-old’s eighteenth time at the VS Fashion Show, so we can count on at least two years. “I plan to be at 20. Two more years. Maybe more, I don’t know,” Lima said. “It’s nature. I’m working out, I’m being healthy, so let’s see how the body is going to turn out. But I enjoy it. So let’s say 20.”
This year’s theme includes a capsule collection with Balmain that both Ambrosio and Lima will wear and will go on sale immediately after the show. Just another reason to tune in on November 28 and maybe say goodbye to Alessandra Ambrosio.
Model after model has posted about the journey to Shanghai, China for the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show—from castings to workouts to the actual travel to this year’s destination. And though we’ve fallen into many Instagram holes following in their each and every step (strut?) leading up to the taping on November 20, we won’t see the actual, complete program until it airs on November 28. What to do if your invitation to the sparkliest fashion show of the year got lost in the mail? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
First off, there’s the official way to watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show: You can tune into the broadcast on CBS on November 28 at 10:00 P.M. EST. Should you not own a TV, you can stream it on a computer or mobile device through the CBS All Access app; you can sign up for a week-long trial for free, but the streaming service will set you back $9.99 per month.
There are a few other options to experience the program live, even if you’re not a CBS All Access member. If you have a Hulu Live TV subscription, you can watch the network through there on November 28. (That service is $39.99 per month, though there’s a free trial week option, too.) YouTube also has a new live TV feature, with channels including CBS; to watch the Victoria’s Secret models and a performance by Harry Styles, you can join YoutubeTV for $35 a month.
For those who can’t stand to wait until November 28, you can count on the Victoria’s Secret models themselves for early access. Hit the follow button on every member of the confirmed cast‘s Instagram profiles, and get ready for tons of behind-the-scenes looks at this year’s show.

They’ve been posting, streaming, and Snapping all weekend long—and tagging sporadically, though the main hashtag is #VSFashionShow—so there’s plenty of content to tide you over until the program airs.
Once the Angels hang up their wings, it’s time for them to celebrate the fact that they just did the thing—that “thing” being the highly-publicized Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The 55 models who traveled to Shanghai to walk this year’s runway put on quite the spectacle. (If you simply can’t wait until November 28—or simply don’t care about spoilers—see every single look from the 2017 show here.) Now? They trade tricked-out lingerie for equally sexy party outfits.
There were plunging necklines! There were high slits! There were sheer layers! There was enough sparkle to make the biggest KiraKira fanatics squeal! Truly, the Angels know how to dress all the way up. Check out what the models changed into after the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, below.
