Claire Underwood Is Taking Over the White House in the Newest 'House of Cards' Teaser

When House of Cards‘ lead Kevin Spacey, who played Frank Underwood, was fired amid allegations of sexual assault, Twitter responded to the news with one overarching request: Make Claire Underwood, Frank’s scheming co-conspirator played by Robin Wright, President.

After months of speculation about the show’s direction, including a hiatus to rewrite the final season so Spacey’s character was removed, it seems that social media has gotten its wish. For Independence Day (July 4), Netflix released a short teaser on Twitter for House of Cards‘ sixth and final season featuring Claire Underwood and Claire Underwood only. Its title, straight from Netflix: “A message from the President of the United States.”

The accompanying clip, though short, was loaded with details to dissect. In the twelve-second teaser, Claire sits atop a marble seat quite similar to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Her hair is in its signature sharp bob, and she’s dressed in a navy skirt suit—a vision of unwavering power. “Happy Independence Day,” she deadpans directly into the camera, “to me.” The ad ends with a similarly short, but powerful hashtag: #MyTurn. Watch it in its short, political glory, below.

Releasing the teaser on the Fourth of July was no accident on Netflix’s part. When Claire says “Happy Independence Day—to me,” she’s suggesting that, liberated from Spacey’s character, she’s in the driver’s seat from now on. Sure, for Claire’s ice-cold persona, that may include more room for plotting and political corruption—but it’s her turn to be fully in charge.

Claire Underwood’s ascension to power somewhat parallels the gains Wright has made by speaking up and asking for more in her role. In 2016, Wright notably revealed that she had not received equal pay with Kevin Spacey when she first began working on House of Cards—despite the fact that her character was more popular. “I was looking at the statistics, and Claire Underwood’s character was more popular than [Frank’s] for a period of time. So I capitalized on it,” she said at a Rockefeller Foundation speech in 2016. “I was like, ‘You better pay me, or I’m going to go public. And they did.”

House of Cards is clearly moving in a female-powered direction. And, as expected, Twitter was thrilled with the first look at Claire Underwood’s turn in the coveted presidential seat (er, throne.) “This is MY President!” one user replied to Netflix’s account. Another said, “Robin Wright was always the real star.” True that.

Let the countdown to House of Cards season 6 officially begin.

This Teaser Is Your First Look at 'Outlander' Season 4

Warning: If you’re not fully caught up on Season 3 of Outlander, spoilers abound. Get caught up with our Outlander recaps here!

The third season of Outlander, our favorite steamy time-traveling drama, wrapped up with a bang on Sunday night, and where do we even begin? Young Ian held prisoner, Geillis’s grisly demise, a life-threatening storm, and eventually our heroes—Jamie and Claire—wind up on the new shores of the American colonies.

We’ll have to wait until 2018 to find out what happens to Jamie and Claire in America—cue #Droughtlander—but until then, we have a quick sneak peek at Season 4 to tide us over.

In the teaser, Jamie and Claire sit in the woods under a blanket, while Claire talks about their upcoming adventure to the new land, and “the American dream.”

“Is that the same as our dream?” asks Jamie. “I suppose it is,” Claire answers.

What do we know beyond what’s shown in the video? “The upcoming season continues the romantic adventures of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan),” according to the press release. We should most certainly hope so—we’re not watching it for the fight scenes, TBH.

And, yes, the new season’s premiere date of “sometime in 2018” means we have a long and very vague amount of time to wait. But there’s good news, too: The fourth season will be based on the fourth book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series—so if we keep going with the one-book-per-season model, then we have a whole five seasons left of Jamie and Claire.

Here’s what else we know: We’ll have a new villain in Season 4—Stephen Bonnet (played by Ed Speelers)—and we’ll also meet Jamie’s Aunt Jocasta (played by Maria Doyle Kennedy).

Watch the teaser here and try to be patient. 2018 isn’t too far away …

This 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 14 Teaser Is Good News for Jackson and Maggie Shippers

Grey’s Anatomy returns for it’s 14th—yes, 14th—season on Thursday, September 28, and there are several questions on fans’ minds: Will Abigail Spencer be believable as Owen’s sister? (Remember, the actress who originated the role, Bridget Regan, couldn’t return due to scheduling conflicts.) How will the love triangle between Megan, Meredith, and Nathan unfold? And good God, will Jackson and Maggie get together?

Fans have been shipping “Jaggie” for a while now, but Jackson’s relationship with April has them wondering if they’re actually ever going to happen. The coupling seemed likely when April—who, remember, is Jackson’s ex-wife—told Maggie she thinks Jackson has feelings for her. The two did become close when Jackson treated Maggie’s dying mother, so it’s not far-fetched to think he started thinking of her romantically.

And this new #TGIT teaser is adding fuel to the fire. Granted, it’s just your standard trailer for Grey’s Anatomy—plus Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder, which also return September 28— but a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment suggests “Jaggie” is 100 percent on.

Around the 18-second mark, we see Jackson and Maggie warmly looking at each other and smiling. It isn’t much, but why would ABC include such a subtle moment in this splashy promo if it didn’t mean something huge?

Check it out for yourself, below:

Kelly McCreary, who plays Maggie, opened up to Entertainment Weekly in August about a possible relationship between her character and Jackson. “What’s ironic is that all of the reasons the fans might not want Jackson and Maggie to get together are the exact things that make really great drama,” she said. “That’s true of life, too, the stuff that makes things a little bit messier is the stuff we think we don’t want, but ultimately makes us stronger, so if that’s where it goes, then there’s probably good story to mine and good lessons to teach there about humanity and God knows what else.”

Regardless of what happens, we’re more than ready for Grey’s Anatomy to come back. Is it September 28 yet?

Rihanna Just Posted a Huge Teaser for Her Makeup Line Fenty Beauty

Rihanna fans, this is what you came for. After over a year of speculation, broken only by a launch date announcement, we’ve finally got more clues about Rihanna’s insanely anticipated Fenty Beauty line.

The singer/designer/woman after all our hearts has kept nearly every detail about Fenty Beauty under wraps since news first broke of the line back in April 2016, making fans—including all of us here—a little bit rabid. (If you’ve been keeping track, you’ll know that eagle-eyed followers have been stalking her personal Instagram for tags to the Fenty Beauty one, speculating every step of the way about what the line might entail.)

So what glorious products, sealed with Rihanna’s approval, await us? We’ll likely have to wait until next Friday, September 8 when the line officially launches for the full lineup. (Although rumor has it that she might make a big reveal sooner during New York Fashion Week, which kicks off Thursday.) Luckily, praise be to Rihanna, she surprise dropped three new campaign teasers today, and they’re every bit as awesome as you’d expect.

The first, posted on the Fenty Beauty account, features a handful of some of the fashion world’s top models of the moment—and brazen champions of diversity. Duckie Thot, Slick Woods, and Halima Aden all make cameos in the intro, followed by a just as impressive roster of women of all backgrounds, shapes, and sizes, including Camila Costa, Paloma Elsesser, and Leomie Anderson.

There’s no question, as Anderson put it on her Instagram, “this the beauty brand for girls who know who the f-ck they are and aren’t afraid to show it.”

We also got our first product confirmation: lip gloss. So plan for a huge resurgence. Beside that, we have some other clues by way of the #ShadeNames hashtag. In the Instagrams above, Woods and Costa recite the following phrases—which we can only assume are the names of bronzers, blushes, or illuminzers, no?—”Chili Mango,” ‘Trophy Wife,” “Yacht Life,” and “Confetti.”

Regardless of what Fenty Beauty makeup drops next Friday, we are dying to try every last drop of every last product we can get our hands on. Twitter, it’s clear, couldn’t agree more.
