These Are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Official Royal Titles

The royal wedding is officially upon us, people. That’s right: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting married today. In just a few hours, they’ll exchange vows in front of thousands of people, including Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, and Idris Elba—not to mention the millions of people watching from their homes.

But first things first: Markle and Prince Harry have to get their royal titles, which the queen just issued to them this morning. A statement from Kensington Palace confirms that Markle and Prince Harry will officially be referred to as—drum roll please—Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel,” the palace statement reads specifically. “Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.” She’s a duchess, people!

According to CNN, Markle will be the first person to hold the title of Duchess of Sussex. There’s only been one Duke of Sussex before Prince Harry.

We’re still early into the the day, so stay tuned to hear more about the royal wedding arrivals, the vows, the reception, and, of course, the fashion. At this point, we know that Prince Charles will escort Markle down the aisle; the cake is lemon elderflower; and the ceremony starts promptly at noon.

You Probably Missed These 2 Adorable Details in Prince Louis' First Official Photos

Royals—they’re just like us! Well, maybe in this one case. Kensington Palace released an adorable photo of 3-year-old Princess Charlotte and newborn Prince Louis last night. And even though their older brother Prince George wasn’t present in the photograph, a part of him was.

After royal aficionados were finished swooning over the overwhelming amount of cuteness, they noticed Charlotte’s blue cardigan looked familiar. As it turns out, she borrowed her sweater from her older brother, who originally wore the sweater for another royal photograph.

George, who will be 5 in July, was around Charlotte’s current age when he was first photographed in the blue embroidered cardigan. Made by Spanish brand Fina Ejerique, it retailed for about $50. He paired it with maroon shorts and knee socks for his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s official 90th birthday portrait back in 2016.

Shot by famed photographer Annie Lebowitz, the photograph features a then 3-year-old George standing proudly next to his fellow royal relatives.

See it below:

“We couldn’t be happier to see little Princess Charlotte wearing the same cardigan Prince George once wore,” the brand’s designer, Ana Pérez, told People. “It is a huge pleasure to be among the brands in their wardrobe.”

But that’s not all: As it turns out, 4-week-old Prince Louis is also wearing a hand-me down from Charlotte in his solo shot that Kate photographed.

The white jumper he’s wearing is the same one Princess Charlotte wore in her own official photograph with Prince George in June 2015.

Adorable, no? We love a royal re-wear, and this definitely takes the cake.

The First Official Pictures of Prince Louis Are Here

Prince Louis made his first appearance just few hours after he was born on April 23, swaddled in Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton‘s arms on the steps of St. Mary’s Hospital in London. Since then, the royal family has no doubt been taking time to get to know their little one, and (aside for an image of Louis’ birth certificate, that is), things have been pretty quiet on the picture front. But on Saturday, Kensington Palace released the first official images of the littlest prince, and the photos are certainly swoon-worthy.

In one of the newly released photos, Princess Charlotte is seen holding her baby brother on May 2, her third birthday. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess at Kensington Palace,” the caption read.

In another, Prince Louis steals the scene just three days after he was born. “The Duke and Duchess would like to thank members of the public for their kind messages following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday,” Kensington added to the caption.

The photographer of the images is none other than Kate Middleton herself, who frequently gets behind the camera to take pictures of her children (her first-day-of-school pics of Princess Charlotte were spectacular).

When Princess Charlotte was born, the royal family’s official social media account released photos of older brother Prince George holding her, too. (In a break from tradition, Kate was behind the camera for those, too.)

And it was just a few weeks after Prince George was born that the royals released their first family portrait, with Will, Kate, and the little prince in Kate’s arms.

We can’t wait for more images of the newly expanded royal family getting to know each other. Congrats again to the happy family!

Meghan Markle's First Official Royal Gift Is an Apron. Really?

There are only four months to go before Meghan Markle becomes an official royal, and she’s already received her first official royal gift. Every January, the royal family releases a list of gifts they received over the past year, People reports, and Markle got one this past November when Prince William took a trip to Finland.

The November gift list is two pages long and absolutely fascinating. Prince William got 12 presents, including a wristwatch, a bottle of gin, and two fabric gnomes (!). Princess Charlotte got eight presents, including a child’s baking set, a hobby horse, and several books. The duchess of Cambridge got a necklace. And Meghan Markle got…an apron.

Just saying, Markle loves a lot of other things besides making a roast chicken with Prince Harry. Like calligraphy, which she calls a “lost art form.” Or yoga, which she does with her mom who may or may not be walking her down the aisle. Or novelty toys, like a singing hamster. Or books, or traveling, or Michael Bublé, all of which she’s written about on her lifestyle blog. This $75 sweater is nice. Hell, she’d probably even like that bottle of gin Prince William got. Just saying.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Just Shared Their Official Engagement Photos

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry know how to take a good photograph together. Just look at how electric they looked at the Invictus Games back in September, or at the photo call they had in November after announcing their engagement. They’re two of the most photogenic people on the planet—and they’re in love, which makes for some pretty dazzling visuals.

So it’s only fitting the future Duke and Duchess mark their engagement with an official photo shoot. And because the Kensington Palace Twitter handle is A-plus, we all get to see some of the shots. “Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have chosen to release official photographs to mark their engagement,” the Palace tweeted early Thursday morning (December 21) before sharing these two gorgeous snaps:

Kensington Palace revealed the photos were taken by Alexi Lubomirski at Frogmore House, which is in Windsor, We’ll give you a few seconds to swoon over these pictures—because that’s exactly what we’re doing.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will officially tie the knot on May 19, 2018 in at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, but details other than that are sparse. “We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry,” Markle’s parents told Kensington Palace about her daughter’s engagement. “Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy and passion for us parents. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together.”

“We are very excited for Harry and Meghan,” commented Prince William and Kate Middleton to the palace, as well. “It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Did Their First Official Engagement as a Couple

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had quite the week. The excitement kicked off Monday morning, when the couple officially announced their engagement. They followed this up with a gorgeous (but short) photo call and then a sit-down interview, where Prince Harry revealed how he proposed—roast chicken was involved—and the world learned a little more about Markle, who was best known for her role on Suits before this royal insanity began. Kensington Palace announced shortly after that Markle and Prince Harry would be completing their first engagement as a couple on Friday (December 1) at the Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity in Nottingham.

And that day has come: Photos popped up on the Internet earlier this morning of Markle and Prince Harry at the event—shaking hands with citizens, smiling, accepting flowers—and they look almost too perfect for words. Don’t believe me? Check out these photos for yourself, below, and prepare to love Markle and Prince Harry more than you already do.

Kensington Palace hasn’t announced any more engagements for the couple yet. If the rapturous response here is any indication, though, Markle’s going to have a full schedule on her hands.
